Authentic mexican tacos; a lot more than you pay in CDMX but the best I've had in Ldn. Lamb & broth was very good. Basic restaurant - friendly staff and chefs.

I really want to love and recommend this place. Maybe we shouldn't have gone on a Friday? But it was early. This is a small space, the walls are close, and the music? SO. LOUD. I don't understand this. I want to talk to the people I went with? And as English wasn't their first language, we had trouble ordering, then dishes weren't brought out in order so someone ended up eating someone else's... It's very popular for delivery, food came in a very odd order. One person finished all their dishes before I'd got one, I was hungry. I had a headache by the time we left. Please restaurants, let people chat without screaming :( The food is great, for Mexican in the UK which is rarely up to much, it's very tasty.

Visited in October 2024. La Chingada is clearly a hidden gem! The fact that the staff and a significant number of the clientele were speaking Spanish gave me a very good feeling about the authenticity of this restaurant. Tried a bottle of Victoria lager in a Michelada glass, as well as a selection of tostadas and tacos (the prawn-octopus and the carnitas particularly stood out, being fresh and zingy). There are many other authentic (i.e. not Tex-Mex) menu items which I’d like to try next time, like nopales and Cacahuazintle corn. Only thing I’d say is that while the food may take a little time to be prepared, that’s testament to the freshly prepared ingredients and the attention to detail the kitchen team clearly take when preparing the food in the almost open plan kitchen.

Our favourite tacos in London!! This restaurant has the best tacos, great atmosphere and authentic menu. We bring friends and family all the time as it’s so fun with the colourful murals on the walls and awesome music. Everyone loves it. This is Surrey Quays hidden gem. Last Tues we went for Taco Tues (£6 tacos) to celebrate my daughter’s 5th bday. Although they didn’t have her favourite tres leches dessert, the owner scrambled to pull together a similar substitute which she was very happy with! Book ahead as it’s a popular place.

Whilst I´m not really a fan of Mexican food (due to lack of any knowledge -my knowledge goes about as far as old el paso taco kits). I had read a lot of the reviews of this store (La Chingada Mexican Food) so I decided to give it a go. The food was fresh and filling (nothing like a cook at home kit). The taste were a bit on the strong side for me, in terms of certain herbs (garnish) overpowering the taste and flavours. This place is well known for its authentic foods.

The food quality at La Chingada has noticeably declined. The tacos we had over the weekend were disappointing; the tortillas were dry, and the pastor, which used to be my favorite, didn’t taste anything like it used to.

Almost put 3. Pro: having been to Mexico the food in this restaurant reminds me more of what I ate in Mexico City more than anywhere else in London. The tacos were really delicious, nothing too pretty or fancy, all about the taste and staying authentic. Lamb birria was especially good! Con: the beef steak was very fatty and chewy, poor quality meat. Quite expensive for a casual meal. We spent 25£ per head on food which included 3 tacos each and a starter.

Mexican place recommended by my Mexican colleagues and absolutely fabulous tacos, consistent high-quality and I almost become a regular. However, I’ve had two negative experiences with customer service. One, as one day I ordered takeaway for lunch, I was asked to pay service charge on top of the food. After bringing up the fact that I was never charged service when I previously ordered takeaways, the staff looked confused and said they always charged service for takeaways. It wasn’t until I showed my previous purchase that the staff took the service charge out. I wouldn’t have mind paying for service if it had always been the policy. However, your policy has been precarious. Second, as one day I went for dinner on tacos Tuesday, I was charged the original price for one of the tacos instead of £6 - the taco Tuesday price. I pushed back by saying it says on the menu that this particular tacos is indeed part of taco Tuesday but staff insisted they are not. It was a really bizarre experience as the menu was clearly in front of us, and the item I got charged the original price for was printed literally with the biggest fonts possible on the taco Tuesday menu. It almost felt as if the restaurant wanted to charge me extra on purpose…anyway, it was late at night and I was tired to argue over three quids. My recommendation would be, on top of making consistently good food, it might be worth training your staff to provide consistently high quality customer service. It’s difficult for customers when you stopped charge service for take out one day, but start doing so the next. It also hurts your reputation that you deliberately charged me original prices for tacos that are clearly stated to be on the tacos Tuesday list.

Downgrading from 5 stars to 1. Reason for this is because I saw La Chingada born when it was just a take away site with only burritos as option. Now they have “refined” themselves taking the burritos from the menu and serving just tacos ( by the way, very small portions and no chicken option on them). The development of La Chingada across the years has been very disappointing.

Summary: I have visited most Mexican spots in London. Giving a five star because despite some opportunities, the food and deals are at a price you can’t beat with service that makes you feel like you are a regular. Pros: -Amazing, authentic food at a stellar price for London. We had tacos as well but forgot to snag a photo but plenty of them already. -Proper margs which is always a treat this side of the Atlantic with a margarita deal on a Saturday! Can’t complain! -Awesome service - my wife came on her bike that doesn’t fold and they let her keep it there Opportunities: -it is a small cozy spot, but there was a really loud table next to us which almost felt like the table had an echo with where they were located. To be fair, it was a Saturday night but it may be tough for you to hear. I think this is negated though with low price - no Amex but I get it - I say this as I love Guacamole: the guacamole was just ok. I always look forward to some solid guac, but the only guac they had was mixed with some nachos that were definitely our least favourite of the dishes and a tad underwhelming.

Was excited to try this place but felt it was very underwhelming. What was most disappointing is that we ordered the lamb birria tacos which on the menu says it comes with a lamb stew to dip them in and it’s also more expensive. When the tacos came there was no lamb stew so I asked the waitress and she said they had run out. If they had run out then she should have let us know when we ordered it. Then when the bill came the price was still the same even though we had a dish missing. Some of the tacos we had were cold. The chicken tostada was cold and bland.

I had been waiting to try this place for months. The food was exactly what I wanted. I got lengua tacos and the shrimp / octopus tostada. I would recommend those two dishes to anyone. Tacos were excellent, though they are on the smaller side, especially for the price. The tostada was delicious, and they combined interesting fruits with the seafood. It was spicy, which I have a hard time finding in London. The issue was with the service. Those two dishes were all the food we ordered and it took 30 min to get them. We probably would have ordered more but the experience quickly went downhill. I was certain of the time because we also ordered a Modelo and I took a picture of it, so I was able to see the timestamp. Of course the modelo was mostly gone by the time I asked the waitress about our food. I was watching people get their apps and their mains, and I noticed those people had arrived after us. I asked her about this, since the dishes we ordered seemed to be the quickest things on the menu (tacos and the cold seafood salad on the tostada). It was obvious to me that the order had been forgotten, but she argued with me that all those other people had actually arrived after me. Here’s a tip - you could have just brought us some complimentary chips and salsa when you forget our order, and we would probably shut up. If even you just apologize for the mixup, i would probably be okay with it. TLDR food is very good, but waiters need more training

They have a nice selection of drinks, and it would be even better if one could have a coffee as a desert. Really wanted to like this place after reading all the good reviews (and being a mexican food lover!). Sadly it did not live up to my expectations on food or cost - we spend over £50 on a plate of tacos, a burrito and two beers. The food also wasn't worth that price, it was quite basic and my fish tacos were fairly flavourless. There's also not a lot of veggie options which there usually are at mexican places. The overall vibe feels very much like a takeaway too with white hospital lights above. Not very cosy or atmospheric - would be happy with this had the price not have been extortionate. Like I said, really wanted to like it but the price is very off putting for something you can make so cheaply at home, so won't be going again.

Absolutely amazing food! We ordered the steak and suadero tacos alongside the chicken tinga tostadas and some chips with pico de gallo. Our favourite was the steak taco and the chicken tostadas but all the food was good. The staff was super friendly and when I asked for the chicken tostada without the refried beans this was no issue. It's a bit loud in there so wouldn't recommend for people with very sensitive ears but we had a great time!

Best Tacos in London by far. Hard to choose a favourite but if i had to then Chorizo was 😋. Adriana deserves a shoutout for super friendly and attentive service. Will be back soon

One of the few authentic Mexican restaurants that is worth every penny. Food is amazing, very polite staff, pleasant atmosphere with lovely art work murals. Highly recommend. Also another Mexican restaurant worth while visiting is Mestizo in London

This is the second time I've been to this place and brought along a friend. It did not disappoint at all. My top favourite mexican place in London hands down. The food is made to perfection and each taco is accompanied with the perfect sauce/side that enhances the taste beautifully. The chef is extremely friendly and came to talk to us when I queried what the sauces were made of and toik his time talking to use. I highly recommend this place. It's definitely going to be a regular for me.

The best tacos I've ever had. Was introduced to this place by a friend and I'm so glad she did. Every dish we tried was great and the staff were very attentive. Chef Junis ( apologies if I misspelt the name) was great and took the time to talk to us about some of the dishes.

£15 quid for a burrito? Absolute robbery!. Outrageous price for a small burrito, would need 2 for it to be anything more than a snack. Meat was dry, stale and bland. If I’m paying £15 for a bit of food it better be a big portion or be delicious and high quality, this is neither. For supposedly the most “authentic” Mexican Restaurant in London I can forgive not having perfect the art of the burrito as it’s not really an “authentic” Mexican dish. But if that dry tasteless abomination that was served to me is anything to go by I wouldn’t dare to try any “authentic” Mexican dishes they have for fear of ruining Mexican food for me. I lived in Mexico for nearly 4 years and the worst street food you you possible find in a filthy stall cooked by a sweaty obese 60 year old who hasn’t washed in days using a grimey spatula that looks like it will give you worms is infinitely better than this dog food. If this dump opened up anywhere in Mexico it would be closed down within a year. These vermin are the fast food equivalent of scummy predatory landlords squeezing a family of 5 that won’t pass a credit check into a dilapidated 2 bedroom flat and still charging over £3k. If you’re looking for a burrito go literally anywhere else.

Once essential- was very glad to find it arriving back from Mexico in 2020. My last visits I found the standards have slipped a little. Still one of a kind in London.

Entonces: mala comida y no barata. Porciones pequeñas y cilantro innecesario. Es una estrella para mí. Lo siento.
