Fantastic food. Big portions. Friendly efficient staff. Small, but nice ambience. First visit in about 15 years. Was lovely. Went with a friend who had never been and it was busy (but we had booked) large menu choice and value for money. Really appreciated the complimentary limoncello/amaretto, class. We will be back soon

I have been coming here for years and the quality of food is always sublime! The staff are friendly and despite being a consistently busy restaurant (understandable as the food is so tasty) the service is also great. I would recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment, however they were accommodating when my partner and I walked in at 6.30pm on a busy Friday evening! The early bird offer is great value for money too.

This is a gem of a restaurant in East Leeds! The staff are friendly and attentive and the food is delicious yet very reasonably priced, a definite must go :)

This is the best Italian in leeds, I have been coming for years and have always been given vip service! I can't agree with the review below as Naki and his team are the most accommodating hosts I've ever met. The owner is one of the kindest most genuine people I've ever met and nothing is ever too much trouble! The food is outstanding and we are regular diners! 5 star everytime!

La cantina is my all time favourite. Not only is it a lovely spot to eat with friends family or for a celebration, the staff are friendly, helpful and always go above and beyond. Naki is fabulous and he always ensures every customer feels like family and welcome. The food is to die for, especially the garlic bread (never had any that beat it) every dish I have tried has been top quality flavour and presented lovely. I literally cannot recommend this restaurant enough! Thank you all and I will see you all very soon

We have been going to la cantina as family for at least 10 years. They have had plenty of custom out of us. However, after Saturday 17th June, we will no longer return to this restaurant again. We were there celebrating a 60th birthday. Our table was booked for 8pm which we arrived at 7:55pm for and were made to wait outside, with not enough seating for all our party, until 8:40pm when they finally seated us. They then didn’t take our food order for about another 20 mins. They took our starter & main orders together but also missed one of our guests out initially, same with the drinks orders. After the orders had been taken, where some of our party had ordered garlic bread to start with, we were then told by the manager they had no bread buns so he offered us complimentary extra garlic bread. We then got offered bread buns by a different staff member 5 minutes after this who then had to back track. A table that came in after us then got given bread buns. The atmosphere was very chaotic in general. However, due to being loyal customers to la cantina, we were prepared to accept this and enjoy our evening. This is not the reason I am writing this review even though that would be enough to be honest. Unfortunately, one of our party became ill, seriously enough that we had to phone an ambulance. The staff in la cantina were disgusting. Whilst I was on the phone to the ambulance for my mum, they were pushing us to have the main course served. They didn’t help in the slightest or ask if we needed anything. They all stood gawping when the paramedics arrived, refused to clear some space or offer a private area for them to examine our party member. The paramedics then had to grab a wheelchair to take her out to the ambulance as it was a suspected heart attack. Whilst wheeling the chair back inside, one of the staff members said to the paramedic “that looks fun can I have a ride in that”. The paramedic was disgusted also - they’re responding to a 999 emergency with blue lights on for a suspected heart attack and this is how the staff members react. After everything that happened and how distressing the night was, obviously none of us wanted to eat yet we were still charged £190 odd as a party by the restaurant who said as they’d made the food they had to charge us. Under the circumstances, I am actually disgusted that they did this. Especially after we were already seated late in the first place! I had to travel down to the hospital in the back of the ambulance where we stayed all night until she was admitted. It was confirmed she did in fact have a heart attack. This was one of the worst nights of my life made completely worse by la cantina. We will never be returning again.

We came to celebrate a 60th birthday, our table was booked for 8pm but we weren’t seated until 20.50,our order taken at 21.50. No rolls so complimentary garlic bread offered. Starters served around 21.20, then unfortunately one of our party became ill and an ambulance called. The restaurant refused to offer somewhere for the paramedics to use. The ambulance crew were amazing and our friend turned out to have a heart attack and is in hospital but the restauarant charged the full food bill even though we only had starters. All of those meals could have been served to others or the staff.

Came here for my 21st birthday as it’s one of my favourite restaurants. All of the food is soo nice and the early bird deal is really good! They played happy birthday and brought me profiteroles and ice cream and then at the end of the meal, they brought me a bottle of wine! So generous!! Lovely and attentive staff! Great food! 100% would recommend.

We are visiting the area on holiday and came for a meal based on the reviews previous diners had left. WOW! We were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived the friendly staff made us welcome and the food was incredible. We hadn’t eaten lunch and were all ravenous but the generous portions of tasty, beautifully cooked dishes soon satisfied our hunger. My parents tried the aubergine parmigiana to start and couldn’t speak highly enough of the delicious flavours. My calamari was delicious and plentiful. My mum’s seafood spaghetti had the largest prawns and mussels we’ve ever seen and was incredibly delicious. We are so glad we visited tonight and will definitely return next time we visit Leeds.

Had the mozzarella starter. It had been cooked in dirty oil and was burnt. Then I had a pasta dish absolutely tasteless no garlic even . I’m not surprised they come round with the pepper to pep the taste up. The pork fillet was not fillet at all it was a thin slice of fat and the most cheapest cream used with absolutely no taste . The prices are beyond belief. Used to be a nice place to eat.

This place is always busy and it is easy to see why! The service is always spot on, they make every guest feel like a VIP. The food is varied and every dish is equally delicious. Would eat here every day if I could!

We celebrated our daughters 21st, there were 30 of us and the staff were amazing, it was so organised and the food was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble they even made a dish off menu for my niece. Would highly recommend.

1 Star. My mum and dad visited tonight my dad ordered a Calzone Kiev and was served a normal Calzone. He was not happy he asked for another plate to share my mums main and they said they would make another he said he didn’t want another as it would take too long. They bought another Calzone Kiev out after they had finished eating and charged him full price. My dad complained there was no apology no money discounted. He said the service was poor and the food.

Visité el 11 de agosto para celebrar mi cumpleaños. Nuestra temperatura se comprobó en la entrada y nos recibió y nos sentó el personal con máscaras y viseras. Pero incluso con las viseras o las máscaras, todo el personal sonrió y nos dio una cálida bienvenida.La cantina 44 es nuestra opción para celebraciones familiares, pero Naki y su personal hacen que incluso las celebraciones pequeñas sean una gran ocasión. Nuestro grupo de 6 tenía entrantes y platos principales, demasiado llenos para los postres de nuestra increíble comida. (3 de nuestro grupo tenía el calzone y siempre lo recomiendo?) Tuve la Bistecca Della Cantina y mi bistec estaba perfectamente raro. Después de nuestra comida pedimos la cuenta, nadie nos apuraba a pesar de que el lugar estaba lleno y en lugar de una cuenta me trajeron helado con una vela y me cantaron ¡feliz cumpleaños! Después de eso recibimos la factura, luego me sorprendieron con una botella de vino como regalo, que fue un gesto encantador.¡Nuestra maravillosa noche terminó con un trago de amaretto como siempre y las bromas del camarero animando a mi abuela de 83 años a tomar un trago! Cada visita a la cantina 44 es siempre una noche maravillosa, pero durante este momento difícil han hecho todo lo posible para asegurarse de que todos nos sintiéramos seguros y bienvenidos y que el ambiente fuera relajado y divertido. Recomiendo encarecidamente a todo el mundo.

1 noche en la calle desde marzo debido a Covid 19. En general, el restaurante hace todo bien. Desinfectante y temperatura tomada a la llegada. Distanciamiento social adecuado. Un pequeño problema con el camarero mayor fue que limpiaba abiertamente las mesas con una máscara que solo le cubría la boca, y la señora de la mesa a mi lado le pidió que lo usara correctamente, pero 1 minuto después volvió a usarlo incorrectamente. Todos los camareros principales tenían máscaras de metacrilato, tal vez todos deberían usarlas. Aparte de esto, la comida era absolutamente excelente y la recomendaría, espero volver pronto

Precioso regalo de viernes. Gracias a Dios que Naki está preparando su menú para llevar. Comida preciosa. Nos preocupaba no poder ver a Naki y la pandilla y tener una comida maravillosa. I have eaten here many times and the food is ALWAYS spot on. The service is friendly and warm, the staff are friendly. I have tried a few dishes, and each time I have been more than happy with the food. It was my son's 10th Birthday and he chose LA Cantina44 for his evening meal with his 7 friends.Booking via the website was smooth and the Manager called me the next day to organise his special day.We were met with enthusiasm and all the staff are polite. We have bern visiting thisrestuarant for years and always depart with feeling valued customers.Our son so enjoyed his birthday meal and eating in the extended part of the restuarant was perfect. The manager always goes out if his way to make you feel special and his staff are attentive as well.If you want quality food, nice service and amazing food then look no further.Thank you for making our sons 10th Birthday special. My friends and I went for a get together at La Cantina. What a fantastic night was had by all. Very attentive staff, so friendly and polite. The food was amazing. All three of us had starters, mains, no room for dessert just had a lovely coffee to finish off. It’s a lovely place to eat. Everyone is made to feel so welcome. WillBe going again really soon.

Thank you for making my brothers 40th birthday a great family night. We were in the front part and the waiting team made every effort to interact with all our group and made us all feel very much wanted. We had great meals, great service and much laughter with the waiting team.

Went with friends when visiting Leeds. Table booked for 8pm we arrived a few minutes early. Restaurant was absolutely packed an incredibly noisy with a number of large paties. Seated after standing up for 15 minutes, table in the glass veranda part and for over an hour there were people standing waiting to be seated, not a relaxing experience. Starters arrived at 9.05 pm, then further delay and main course at 9.30pm. Cant fault the food, all 4 of us enjoyed our food and the scallops for starter were particularly good. Servers pleasant and polite. What spoiled the evening for me was the constant loud noise and the birthday celebrations accompanied by music and loud singing, 3 of those in the time we were there. Restaurant is obviously very popular and many diners are clearly regulars. Although the food was enjoyable I would hesitate to go there again.

We arrived for a 6PM booking and we were with drinks very quickly- Good start. My Husband ordered a starter and our mains arrived before he had even finished. Food was acceptable and edible but bland and boring. Calzone was more like a pie, chips were fries. I took longer to eat my meal and boy were they hovering to collect my plate! As quick as a flash we were offered dessert which we obviously could not face so soon. We declined and the bill was brought without being asked for. As we left to leave we were not thanked or acknowledged nor were not asked at any point (as most restaurants do) if we were happy. We were in and out in less than an hour and will not be returning!

9 of us dined here for the christmas party menu. Food delicious and service excellent despite the restaurant being very busy. We were really looked after by all the staff and I can highly recommend this little gem in crossgates. We will definitely be back. Thanks all.

Arrived and wasn't impressed with the lack of parking and I have to say on walking in wasn't impressed by the size, the way people were cramped in and the unsociable way the tables are pushed together.

We booked here as a group of friends. There were 7 of us and we were seated at 2 round tables pushed together, really awkward to eat without almost turning your back on someone.

I visited here yesterday with a group of ladies from the retirement home that I help out at. One of these ladies has never been to a restaurant before and a few had asked for very specific dishes, the staff were lovely in catering for everyone and were very patient in waiting for everyone to order (and remember what they'd ordered). A big thank you to everyone there, we'll definitely be back!

No pueden hacer lo suficiente para ayudar, si tiene niños pequeños o si tiene dificultades, por lo que se preocupan.

I've visited La Canitina 44 twice now and been massively impressed on both occasions! Very friendly staff as always, very very polite and will do everything they can to make your visit a pleasant one. The food was absolutely top notch, so rich and flavoursome. We got the usual Warm Freshly Cooked Italian bread with butter with out starters which were all very enjoyable as always. The main course though, wow! I ordered Lasagne as I usually do and it was piping hot, really beautiful and cheesy, such a rich, creamy and flavoursome sauce!! Can't wait to visit again, always leave with a huge smile on my face and absolutely stuffed!!! I managed to finish it all this time though, just!!! Huge portions and absolute top quality food as always! Staff were funny and really helpful! Thanks again!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! AAAA++++++++++

A really lovely Italian restaurant with great Italian food and fantastic service. My steak was done to perfection but it was so large I could not finish it let alone tackle the French fries.

Después de haber visitado en algunas ocasiones, pero siempre muy temprano el servicio de la tarde siempre ha sido bueno. Me senté en una mesa que estaba muy fría, la unidad de aire acondicionado justo arriba y la corriente de aire desde el restaurante.

We had an enjoyable evening with fantastic food once again. The staff are always willing to have a laugh with you whilst keeping it on a professional basis. A very good local restaurant.

Visited yesterday evening with my partner. The whole experience was wonderful!

We had a table booked here for 8.30 on Saturday evening. When we arrived the place was packed with a couple of large parties. As the restaurant has no waiting area we were stood waiting for our table (25 minutes in total), as were several other people, so much so that people were nearly queuing out of the door. I have always found this offputting in this restaurant that you are litterally left in the doorway, feeling stupid, and hovering over people eating their food. We were hardly offered an apology for our wait, just the head waiter muttering something under his breath. I appreciate that you cannot ask people to leave as people are waiting but an heartfelt apology would have been nice or something to redeem the situation. Eventually we were sat in the corner and I have to say the food was very nice as it always is. Our table was cleared and then we sat for what felt like ages to be asked if we would like desserts, I would imagine at least 30 minutes. We had desserts, again very nice, and left. Not so much as an apology, thank you, was everything OK? etc. Basically, we were shoved in the corner and more or less ignored. The service is always a bit haphazard here but it was particually bad on this occasion and although I live locally I will not be returning.

A warm welcome always awaits here and the food is excellent. One of our party cannot tolerate garlic. We forgot to ask about this when ordering and only remembered when the dish arrived. It did have garlic and they simply whisked it away and remade the ravioli in a cream sauce instead. No fuss just did it without question. It can get a bit noisy when full and perhaps losing a couple of tables would help?

If you want a good atmosphere and tasteful surroundings this is not for you. When we booked we were asked to arrive 15 minutes earlier than we wanted .The restaurant does not have a reception or br area so you have to go straight to your table the place was heaving with parties and the noise levels were horrendous we were shown straight to our table the head waiter arrived there was no smile or greeting he just asked for our order we had to prevent him from leaving to ask for our drinks.The starter was lovely then the Lobster Ravioli arrived the sauce was good but resembled tomato and marscapone more than lobster bisque the lobster filling was so tiny it was tasteless and the pasta far too thick and very rubbery it was a disaster. We asked for coffee and as the place had finally emptied a bit we were able to have a conversation the coffee was weak and barely warm we were debating whether to have a brandy when the bill was put on the table and the inference was it was time we left but they were then practically empty.

Visited here for the first time yesterday evening with my parents who live locally. The restaurant was warm and inviting with lots of regulars clearly enjoying an early evening meal. We chose the early bird menu which offers a wide choice and was excellent value. The started were huge and everything was well presented. Highlights for us were the very tasty chicken liver pate and the Tagliatelle al Salmone. The service was attentive and friendly with good touches like warm bread rolls, iced water with lemon and complimentary limoncello or amaretto to finish. Our waiter overheard that it was Mums birthday and brought a complimentary dessert which made her evening. I would not hesitate to recommend and will return on my next visit to Leeds.

Lovely little place with great atmosphere and good food. Great choice even on the early bird menu. I tried to reserve a table online. I didn't get a confirmation but we went anyway and it was fine. The staff apologised and replied during our visit. Different groups of people here....birthdays, couples and celebrations, very friendly atmosphere and couldn't help joining in the singing!

Went on a Friday evening with the Hubby for the first ever time. Restaurant is warm and inviting with friendly chatty staff. We had the early bird menu which at £13.95 for 2 courses we felt was great value. The food is delicious and they’re not small portions either which you sometimes find when ordering from a ‘saver’ menu.

This is a lovely local restaurant with very friendly staff and excellent food. If you are a picky eater you would certainly find something on the menu to suit you and it is cooked just the way you prefer. The staff are attentive and quick making sure your eating experience is perfect. You must book in advance, the restaurant gets extremely busy especially on a Saturday. Booked a family meal on 21st december. We were a group of 21 so we booked in advance and ended up having the whole conservatory to ourselves which was great for the kids as it meant they weren't in anybody's way. I'd always assumed that part of the restaurant would be cold but it wasn't at all and was perfect for a large booking like ours. The staff were really attentive despite the restaurant being really busy, so friendly and always had time to laugh and joke with the kids. The food was fantastic, between us we got a huge variety of starters and mains amd kids meals, nobody had any complaints at all, some of us even got it to take home because they didnt want to leave it! (My brother REALLY enjoyed the lobster ravioli) Some of us also had a shot after the meal which was also lovely! My parents have been coming here for years and always enjoyed it and our big family meal was no different thank you for a great night.

Table reserved for 6.30 pm on a Saturday evening. Place was full to capacity the whole time we were there and I saw a number of diners turned away so reservation essential. A large menu with pasta and pizza but also a good number of other dishes. Looking at the size of portions being served to other diners I decided on 2 starters as felt a main meal would be tòo much for me. All starters and main meals were very good and large. My Greek salad was enormous. Service was friendly and professional and the wine list although quite small was ok and we enjoyed a couple of bottles of excellent quality Pinot Noir which was well priced. The tables are very close together and the restaurant was very very noisy our whole time there and this did detract from the overall experience. Perhaps it is quieter in the week. However I would be happy to visit again when next in the area

I saw the reviews of this place and thought WOW the food must be amazing. I visited last night for the first time ever and I wasn't blown away. It was standard, average - nice, but very average. I can't say my tastebuds were blown away, but what do you want for the early bird menu 2 courses for £13.95. The price was good, but you always get what you pay for. When I arrived at 5:45pm it was very quiet I stated I had a table booking and the staff just left me stood up for around 10 minutes even though the place was dead. After being given a choice of table I sat down while my friend arrived. The place was soon full at around 6:30pm/7:00pm so I would recommend booking if you go at prime evening time. I had the mozzarella starter, and the chicken pesto for mains. I wish I wouldn't have got chips with it as I was too full, I should have opted for veg instead. The pesto sauce was very sickly and smothered all over the plate - a bit too much! I would go back if I was struggling for somewhere to eat but it's definitely not amazing.

The staff go out of their way to help you very friendly & polite, food excellent &good; value, would recommend it to anyone. The Wrigg family.

Booked a table here for evening meal as we were staying in nearby Premier Inn.

Went on the of chance as not booked. The place was busy and had to wait a few minutes for a table. Have us a menu while we waited. Took drinks and food order quite quickly. Food was good. Service was great

We go to this restaurant several times a year, the food is very good with lots of choice. The staff are welcoming, attentive and friendly and we would recommend it to everyone.

Have to say this place is fantastic! The food is beautifully presented and so tasty! The staff are obliging, attentive and very personable. It's always busy and has a great local vibe to it. 5* and more. Will definitely be back!

Has to be one of the best resteraunts in Leeds. Food is brilliant and the staff are so nice. I had calzone and my girlfriend lasagne and it was delicious.

La Cantina no parece mucho desde el exterior, así que mi novio y yo simplemente lo ignoramos. Estoy muy contento de que mi amigo me lo haya recomendado, ya que la comida estaba deliciosa. Fuimos un domingo por la noche la semana pasada, no estaba muy ocupado, pero había un ambiente encantador. Todo el personal era increíblemente atento con todas las mesas y siempre se aseguraba de que nos sirvieran rápidamente. Pedí mejillones para empezar y luego pasta de pollo. Mi novio tenía bruschetta y el cerdo. Todo era fresco y muy buen valor. ¡Rodé a casa como un pequeño cerdito! Fue una noche muy agradable en general. Tan agradable que tenemos algo como esto justo en nuestra puerta.

Fuimos un lunes por la noche y estaba bastante ocupado, lo que es un indicador de que este ha sido un buen restaurante. . teníamos la comida de 2 platos y era una relación calidad-precio encantadora y excelente. . Tomate El pan de ajo era muy fino como nos gusta. las comidas eran excelentes y sin duda volveremos

Just when I thought it was impossible to find a good Italian restaurant La Cantina 44 fell into my lap! My hubby and I went there last night prepared to be disappointed - but what a wonderful surprise!

I visited this Italian restaurant in Crossgate on Friday night and lucky enough to get a table as it is often fully booked. Nothing too fancy but the service really make a difference. The staffs were attentive and tried their best to provide a good service. I ordered Minestrone soup which was not bad. Pollo pesto spinach, the presentation was questionable but the sauce was delicious. I did order a cheeky Barcelona pizza which was very good. All in all, I think it is worth a visit if you were out of town and pass that way. The prize was very reasonable too.

We are regulars here as I live locally and have to say I have never had a bad meal here. One thing I have become accustomed to though is the very manic and disorganised service as again I experienced on Saturday night. We had booked a table for 8pm and surprisingly we were seated straight away which, considering the restaurant was very busy, was an unusual surprise as usually you are stood waiting for a table to become available. We were sat a fair while before we were asked if we would like drinks. After another longish wait the main waiter (man with the glasses) asked if we would like to order.We were just about to tell him what we would like to eat and before we could say he drifted off to serve another table without taking our order. Hmm? It was a little like a Basil Fawlty moment as he was off before the words managed to leave my mouth. Eventually we ordered and the food was lovely as always. Again, another longish wait before we asked if we could order desserts which again were very nice. I really like this place because the food is always good but the service I find quite amusing as it is always so hap-hazard and it certainly was on Saturday. We felt we were having to ask for everything although the waiters are very friendly when you do manage to get their attention.
