I’ve been coming to this cafe on and off for years now as I really love the food and coffee which is always delicious, and the ambience is right up my street. Unfortunately after today I cannot in all good conscience return in the future. The owner consistently belittles and rolls her eyes at my autistic mother who struggles with the ordering system at the deli counter, my mum may not notice it but I do, and today it really rubbed me the wrong way. In previous visits I’d looked past her behaviour and thought maybe she’s just having a stressful day, but alas it seems she is always sour and unwelcoming. I’ve overheard her unsavoury comments about other customers in passing too. It makes you wonder why on earth she got into hospitality if serving customers is such a tedious task. This review is in no way a reflection on the other members of staff who are always warm and welcoming and make a lovely coffee. It costs nothing to be kind.

Only discovered this lovely place a couple of months ago. Now we go as often as we are able. We even go out specifically to have coffee here, may daughter loves the "vibe" which is high praise from a teenager! Great selection of coffee and tea, the food is delicious! If you fancy a sweet treat there is a good selection to choose from not to mention the beautiful chocolates.

So, this place is amazing, I love the food, I love the vibe, the chocolate, the bits n bobs for sale on the shelves, the back room, it's like a magic emporium for food lovers. The only thing I don't like is that I always feel like I'm in trouble when ordering, I have a specific diet, but even just asking for no olives and I get a derisory grunt from the woman. This is every time I go in. The younger staff are always super friendly though.

My only reason for not awarding a 5* review was my mince lacked seasoning to my taste A magic place to while away and lunch and relay dinner Highly recommended

I am truly devastated by my visit. I was so looking forward to trying their food but I quickly decided against it. You walk in to a very run down cafe. Clearly no more time and effort is put into it. Slight pungent odour in the cafe. I order a coffee so I could sit and ponder over the menu. The woman who served me wasn’t accommodating and looked rather put out that there was a customer in the cafe. Seeing I was the only one there I thought they would have been happy to help, there was my first red flag! I sat down with my coffee looking through a very basic menu when I herd a thud. I casually look around to find the woman picking a cake off the floor and picking debris off it. She clearly didn’t care because she put it back on display. I didn’t even finish my coffee. I just walked out. I would have said something but if that’s her attitude towards health and safety then you can only imagine her attitude towards someone pulling her on on it. And of course. Who’s to stop her doing it again? The sip of coffee I had wasn’t amazing. Barely like warm. No thank you. Want be going back again. I hope for everyone’s sake they never be allowed to do this again. If they can do this with cake what are they doing behind the scenes. AVOID!

Happened upon this coffee shop while walking past it seems so hidden to me. I popped in for a coffee and loved how quirky this place is it’s so cute. I ordered a soy cap to take away and it was honestly the best coffee I’ve found in wales! Can’t believe I’ve not seen it before. I now go here for my coffee all the time the service is lovely. I’ve not had food here yet but have heard it’s lovely so I’ll definitely be trying this out next. Oh and I love how they add real chocolate flakes on top of the cappuccino thank you kyffin.

I hate to leave a negative review - however I did like the design and ambiance of this cafe, as well as the friendly staff and I hope my eating experience was an unfortunate "bad day" for this place.I ordered the sweet potato soup, as did my partner. I've had many variances of this soup and also have made my own, but this really was unfortunately unlike any soup I've had. It was a brown/grey broth with some limp discoloured looking vegetables sitting at the bottom. It was completely bland, no seasoning, no detectable spices. It was really like drinking hot water with stewed in onions. I'm still not sure where the sweet potato was, but I suspect it was the minutely chopped up vegetable running through the soup, though this was flavourless and not like any sweet potato I've experienced. Me and my partner were excited about the soup and had no reason for any predisposed negative attitude. We hadn't been looking forward to trying this cafe for some time. After our first mouthful we glanced at each other in shock. We made ample use of the salt and pepper and bread and attempted fairly silently to eat as much as possible as not to waste or seem rude. We also ordered two coffees with it meal which we ended up cancelling towards the end of our soup as it hadn't appeared in that time and by then we hoped to make a quick exit. This is the only meal I've had at this cafe and I hope I came on a bad day. I can only assume that the chef didn't get a chance to try the soup before serving it today. I'd love to go back again and try something else on the menu but it really hurt to pay £14 for these two awful soups, and it's not an experience I'd like to repeat. Sorry to leave a bad review! Everything else about the place was really nice. Decor, music, staff - lovely!

I was delighted to find this little piece of heaven in Bangor, although you would hardly expect to. Just when I thought that the High Street had been transformed into one long row of hairdressers, there it was!The owner,Jo, it turns out studied at the Uni here, many years ago, as had I and my friends who were visiting. Finally someone who could make a good cup of coffee, without the over-roasted carbon espresso beans made popular by the likes of Starbucks.Nice cake to go with it too.It was nice enough, that I went back for another visit just the next day, on my way to the train station. I had an hour to kill waiting to meet friends at the station during a stay in Bangor to attend a funeral on Ynys Môn. I walked past a number of chain cafés before I found Kyffin and was lured in by the sight from the window. I had my usual double macchiato with a point of almond and cherry cake made by Jo who runs the place. It was just perfect, not at all cloying with sweetness, the almonds spoke for themselves, as did the cherries and it was wonderfully moist. The coffee was excellent as well. Also on offer were a chocolate and cherry cake, pineapple cake and carrot cake all made by Jo and, I am sure, all equally lovely. Homemade lunched are also available with a good vegetarian range and the dishes that passed me looked very appetising. There's also a large range of things to buy to take away and I purchased some lovely Niederegger cherry marzipan.Jo was a delightful person, ably assisted by a very affable young man; but as it was getting busy for lunch by the time I was ready to pay and a former employee leapt into action and worked the cash register - now, if even former staff come back, the place must be good! Wonderful food, wonderful service, wonderful ambiance.

Today's journey into Bangor had one main goal, to return to KYFFIN Vegetarian Restaurant. Along the main street, up from the clock tower. If your have never considered vegetarian food before, let the eating experience you will discover at Kyffin be a landmark. Their food is not only well prepared and healthy. It is imaginative. The surroundings are modest & tasteful, yet more so they are therapeutic to one's well-being. Unfortunately our experiences can at best give you a visual description. I would have loved to let you hear their choice of background music. Just perfect. Even the simplest choice from their menu is presented such that it could be seen as an injustice to eat it, it looks so good. I suppose the testimony to any good restaurant is that one leaves feeling better than on arrival. Kyffin continues to do that. Simply an excellent place to visit in Bangor

We stopped here to refuel after a bit of a slog from Caernarfon and before a long train journey home. The ambiance of the place drew us in immediately and we began to relax for the first time that day. The charm of the owner and staff was a significant ingredient. Welcoming, personable, enthusiastic and helpful without being over the top. The contentment of the diverse customers (solos, couples and a larger family) was evident. My partner follows a vegan diet, I eat a wider range of food; the only difficulty we found was in making up our minds what to order from the regular items and specials on offer. Oh, and that we were so blissed up by the great food and drinks and the lovely atmosphere that we lost track of the time, realised we had cut it a bit fine and, after settling the bill, had to hurry for the train!

We Specifically sought out this cafe as I was looking for somewhere that catered for vegans. We were staying local to Bangor, and nipped here late morning prior to our Zipworld Velocity experience. We parked on the high street so only had 30 minutes, not too sure where you would park else wise. The cafe has a somewhat eclectic bohemian vibe. I thought the variety of speciality teas was great, I opted for the raspberry leaves and my daughter the lady grey. We decided to share a mezze vegan platter, which was a little lack lustre to be fair - a single falafel and a stuffed vine leaf, couscous, salad leaves, potatoes, half a stuffed tomato as well as a few other bits. I didn't notice any prices displayed so I'm unsure of the cost of each item. I had high hopes but personally don't feel that what we had was value for money.

I found this place online, after looking for a vegan-friendly restaurant, during our stay in nearby Caernarfon. What a lucky find! As it was a lovely afternoon, we sat in the sunshiine in the garden, whIch we were pleasantly surprised to find at the back of the restaurant. My daughter and I had a delicious vegan mezze platter, and my Mum (who isn't vegan) tried and enjoyed the vegan spiced lentil lasagne, which came with assorted salads. Everything was really tasty and plentiful. I just had room for a piece of vegan mango cake, while my Mum tried the vegan rhubarb and ginger slice. Again, both were delicious, and the coffee was great too. The staff were very friendly and helpful We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and will definitely return when we next come to Caernarfon. Fantastic flavours and stunning presentation followed by a vegetarian Thali made up of eight different components of very delicate flavoured combinations, finished off with a chilli Kulfi (homemade ice cream) with fresh fruit. They are all very friendly, helpful and always smiling, Jo is also a lovely lady who is always putting her customers first. Whenever we go to Kyffin it is always a relaxing, indulgent atmosphere with amazing music and a wonderfully unique and charming interior. We love all of the charm of Kyffin and its food and service is world class. We first found Kyffin a few months ago and since then have not gone to any other café/ coffee shop as nothing compares to the standard of Kyffin! As vegetarians it is very difficult to find a vegetarian/vegan café, yet alone one that is so amazing! The food is to die for! Every single meal that my partner and I have had has been outstandingly delicious, the cooks are just phenomenal and we also love the fact that everything is freshly grown and prepared, each day. Everything is delicious, from the Mezze to their array of tarts and soups, all incredible! The cakes are also scrumptious, as well as their breads (all home made!) as well as the coffee's, teas, and hot chocolates are the best we have ever had also. I cannot say enough good things about Kyffin, as it is such an amazing little café. This evening we also went to their supper club which was PHENOMINAL! Such amazing food, delicious, flavoursome and absolutely delightful. If you want to have an amazing food experience, go to Kyffin, it is such an amazing place.

Yet again another fantastic evening...Kyffin just goes from strength to strength...we have been visiting this restaurant regularly without fault...the addition of the supper club is just another monthly treat for the palette..The four course themed menu works so well and as a chef myself I appreciate that Jo really pushies flouvour compinations and is always coming up with new dishes or a twist on old favourites....it's great to get the monthly mailing and the new menu for the supper club.Highley recommend....

I love vegetable lasagne. It may be my favorite food, so when I saw it on the menu outside of Kyffin I had to try it. On a student budget, the 2-digit marked out price made me cringe a little, but I reasoned that, as a vegetarian, I'm happy to be supporting a specialist vegetarian/vegan restaurant and I'd heard a lot of good things about Kyffin. But wow, I was so disappointed... Initially, the interior decor set a nice atmosphere and a generally comfortable environment. But when it arrived, the 'lasagne' was luke warm, sticky, and flavourless. It had no kind of tomato sauce, or any sauce at all to speak of, besides a thin layer of some entirely bland, sticky white goo on the the top. It was like eating a lump of plain boiled, sticky pasta and a few lukewarm floppy vegetables, with a mountain of strangely complied salad-vegetables and fruits invading most of the plate and the more I ate, the more of the watermelon and beetroot juice from the mound seeped its way into the sticky pasta sheets. So by halfway through the meal, watermelon-pasta was the only flavour coming through, and I couldn't even finish it (and I REALLY hate wasting food)And to top it, my jasmine tea was too hot to drink... Jasmine tea should be brewed at 70C, and this tea was boiling when i received it. By the time it was cool enough to drink, it was revoltingly bitter and over-steeped. I didn't bother to complain, since I couldn't even imagine where to start, or how it could all possibly be rectified. My partner was equally as dissatisfied with his food too. So sorry kyffin, but due to an all-around awful first impression, I don't believe i'll be back.

I really wanted to try some choad because i heard from my estate agent (Louise) that it was great at Kyffin - as well as being suitable for vegetarians. This was the place to go! Best vegetarian choad any of us had tried.

And beetroot juice soaking into my pita. It was strange and definitely not a good combination. Would have preferred the salad on a separate plate from the pita.

I visited this lovely cafe twice on a recent trip to Bangor and each time had lovely food and great coffee all served with charm. Cakes were delicious, especially the chocolate and beetroot and the tiffin cake, think I got them right, and the coffee was delicious.

Discoverd this Deli/Caffe by accident. Had a really good Vegan lunch. All there food was vegetarian with a choice of dishes that could be made vegan , all home made and tasty. I had a meze, an assortment that included hummus, beetroot salad, chickpeas, minted pea purée, couch a mixed salad and a wedge of delicious bread. There was to follow a figgy slice vegan again. This was one very happy diner as here in North Wales it is a struggle as a vegan to be able to eat out well.

Fooled into thinking this was still a clothes shop a friend recommended this cafe and I was very pleased he did. Once inside one could wonder if it still was a clothes shop or a sweet shop. a cafe or a gallery but it is a melange of all these elements and very pleasing it is. Good coffee and a short menu of vegetarian dishes and salads and some lovely looking cakes is what you get. Efficient and very pleasant staff, some interesting music, tasty food. and a civilised atmosphere - what more could you want. Very good indeed

What a great find! Kyffin is a lovely vegetarian cafe with plenty of vegan options. I loved the decor and the food was everything that I wanted - fresh, healthy, affordable, and the portions were very generous. Very friendly service too. Will be coming back whenever I'm in the area!

We found Kyffin quite by chance and we're delighted to find such an atmospheric vegetarian cafe in Bangor. The food is vegetarian and heavily influenced by Moroccan cuisine. The tagine and mezze were very tasty and the kids enjoyed a potato tart. There was a lovely range of cakes and sweets and drinks.

This is a beautiful cafe. The interior is so interesting with all its jars full of intriguing sweets and chocolates and its displays of tea and coffee, not to mention the beautiful decor. The service is very friendly and relaxed. The two types of vegan cake we had (mango, chocolate) were delicious and the perfect accompaniment to the refreshing tea we were served. The cafe is beautiful, I cannot praise it highly enough and I just wish we weren't only in Anglesey for a week so we could visit more often!

We went to the special supper club last night to celebrate my husbands Birthday. We had a fabulous night. The upstairs room was beautifully decorated. The staff were all fantastic. I can not praise the food enough all the courses were presented beautifully and tasted delicious. Fantastic atmosphere. It's got to be my most favourite place to eat and I don't just mean in Bangor. At the end of the meal they brought my husband a big chocolate cake with a candle in it,which was so kind of them. Can't praise this place enough.

We drove up from Brighton to attend the 70th birthday of our friend Crys Pearce. From the very outset the restaurant was welcoming and smiling. The staff were lovely and participated from a distance enjoying the piano playing and the speeches. The table settings were artistic and pleasing; the starters were superb... a little filling, which didn't leave enough room for the spicy curry and yummy orange cake. All in all it was well worth the trip. At no stage did the staff hurry us along or behave as if anything was too much trouble. Thank you for a great evening.

The ethos of Kyffin's owner Jo runs through every aspect of this beautiful and inspiring little cafe. As well as good coffee, a fantastic range of loose leaf teas and delicious vegan and gluten free cakes, there is a warm welcome to be had. We really loved listening to Jo and enjoying what Kyffin had to offer. We thoroughly recommend this place.

we went to our first supper club here last night and thought it was the best veggie meal we had had in a restaurant - imaginative and delicious. Four courses all delicious and served by two charming and helpful but unintrusive ladies. Background music was at just the right level and set the right ambience. we will return!

This was the latest 'supper club' (last Friday of each month) at Kyffin. The atmosphere is particuarly relaxing, ambient and welcoming. A warm, jazzy and eclectic environment which makes you instantly feel at ease and glad you came. The welcome from Jo and her staff is lovely- they were engaging and attentive , friendly and genuine. The food - 4 courses (the set menu changes each month) which consisted of:> Savoy Dolmas of wild rice and leeks in truffle oil served on a bed of braised cannellini beans with thyme and rosemary>Celeriac soup with walnut and green pepper salsa and goat cream cheese>Aubergine and leek chilli with polenta gnocchi and limed sour cream>Sticky ginger bread pudding with brandy sauce.....Every course was DELICIOUS, decent portions and just yummy :) We couldn't have asked for a nicer evening or more satisfying meal. We will definitely return Jo and Co and bring friends next time. Everyone - go to Kyffin...veggies you'll be in heaven and non-veggies won't be missing meat!

i am neither vegan nor vegetarian but enjoy this little cafe, food is good healthly and wholesome , the only thing that lets this little cafe down is general cleanliness i sat near the till and was very tempted to write my name in the inch thick dust on it and when the owner ( jo i think her name is ) leans into the counter fridge to retrieve salad , olives etc her shoulder length flyaway hair dangles everyone ( and yes she does wear a thin Alice band ) but her hair is still everywhere and then preps it on the counter behind her , even her staff with the dreadlock hair is tidier and secure ( and looks great ) a simple elastic band or headscarf would do the trick, only a small pointer but just doesnt look great when watching and waiting for your food to arrive, but all in all will still use this great little cafe ( also i think you need to re- do your coffee and tea menu (on the till )they have seen much better days !!!!!

It is always difficult to find good vegetarian/vegan food in a restaurant, however having a restaurant that serves nothing but veggie/vegan food is an absolute boon. This place is an absolute must to visit in Bangor if you want veggie/vegan food. OK the space is a little cramped but for me that only adds to the ambience. Service is very friendly and the staff are very knowledgable. I certainly do not find this restaurant 'expensive', in fact I think it is very good value for money considering all the cakes and food are genuinely 'homemade'. Monthly a 'supper club' is held, been a few times, and the food has always been excellent, and very good value for money. If you are a vegan then the menu will be adapted for you with no quibbles (but need to inform them when you order).

Had a great surprise in Bangor, I only had 20 minutes to grab some food and happened upon Kyffin Cafe. I had a really tasty and filling vegetarian salad in the Cafe garden in glorious sunshine. The Cafe was full of character and the staff were polite and helpful. I would definitely eat there again.

This plain looking café venue opened up into an Aladdin’s cave of fine Veggie/Vegan meal offerings, once inside, as well as having rows of shelves and the counters piled up with all forms of vegetarian/vegan produce too….. The counter assistant was helpful and carefully explained the [Vegan] dishes with the complimentary accompaniments on offer….The well warmed “cheese” and “onion” pie, was nicely complemented by a number of couscous, beetroot, bean, carrot, sweet corn containing side dishes, all washed down with a very pleasant bottle of tasty organic cider….It was also nice to sit peacefully [without any noisy mindless muzzac] and look at all the produce on sale; both on the counter and also filling the shelves up to the ceiling alongside your table….NB I’m not a Vegan but the overall meal experience and café ambience was still outstanding….

Staff were great and prepared me a delicious selection (mezze) of dishes and some lovely bread. No reactions at all! Thank you very much, I will be back very soon!

We stopped here for breakfast twice, having been disappointed by the service at another establishment. The breakfast rolls are tasty, especially the sausages, and both the tea and coffee were good. Fair prices and very friendly service. Outdoor seating where you can eat your food whilst enjoying the beautiful views of Llanberis and its surroundings. Also does delicious cakes, milkshakes and hot chocolate. Highly recommended.

I'm actually gutted to be writing this review as we thought we had found a good haunt when we first tried last week. 2 adults & 2 children all had a lovely lunch time meal the previous week so we rebooked for the 2 adults for an evening meal the following weekend. The starter was lovely for both of us but we both ordered fillet steak for our main and I don't know what meat it was but it certainly wasn't a beef steak. It didn't look like one, taste like one or even cut like one. I was genuinely gutted as it has put me off going back again because I feel like it's just rude to expect somebody not to notice and left feeling like we've been totally ripped off. You don't order a fillet steak if you don't know exactly what to expect on your plate so the audacity to think you can pull that off is unbelievable. I can't complain about the service, both times it has been spot on, lovely women but unfortunately we won't be returning after been served that.

On a recent visit to Barmouth we found this little Gem of a place that is open on Sundays. There was a special board out side and it was the Cheese and Onion pie that drew us in . Both my husband and me had this and it came with new potatoes and salad . It was delicious and very reasonably priced . We were naughty and were too tempted by the delicious homemade sweets and puds they had to offer . I had the jam and coconut cake and my husband opted for the apple pie. They were presented lovely with fruit and a pot of cream on the side. The staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely be returning next time we are in Barmouth
