Best California roll I’ve ever tasted!! Food came super quick, and the waitress was very nice. Right outside of Farringdon station so very convenient!

and as such we were here for a pre-theater dinner. As has been said - very cramped indeed, no hangers for coats; like in a bad theater itself. Small and stuffy but at least warm. Service friendly but menu very limited, all drinks etc premade so no sugar reduction possible. We had a bento and a sushi set; mine was fine I'd say, okay quality, the beef rather below, the sashimi slices good. Prices, oh well, London Japanese, meaning quadruple Tokyo (and that's the bigger and richer city). In sum, absolutely one can go there before a show or so, but it's not a destination restaurant, even in context.

Small place with very tight space between tables. Sashimi was good freshness but sliced really thin, you don't really enjoy the taste because of that. Twenty pounds later I was still very hungry but had to leave for a concert at nearby barbican.

In rather cramped and unpretentious premises (which look like they could have been a tea shop in an earlier life) Kurumaya effortlessly dishes up tasty, fresh Japanese fare at not unreasonable prices. If you are in the area (the Museum of London, definitely worth a visit, is nearby) and don't have a reservation, as was our case, you may still get one of the diminutive tables. The edamame were well presented and nicely seasoned with large grain rock salt, and the hiyashi (seaweed) salad was excellent. The miso soup was fine though maybe lacking a little depth of flavour. A selection of sashimi went down very well with the boss especially liking the squid, and the nigiri was delicious with flavoursome toro (belly tuna) starring this time. If you would like an alcoholic drink there are three bottled beers but the green tea is very good. Service is attentive, friendly and informative. Great little place but it is minimalist if you like space.

Title says it all. Highly recommended. Food and service impeccable. Not super cheap - but satisfactory. £100 for 2 and we pushed the boat out including drinks. Atmosphere cafe style.

Food choice is not immense but is super good and fresh. We went for diner and think the busiest period was over, lucky for us.. no long waiting period since everything is made on order. We spent around £96 for 3 persons (tips included), so not super cheap but well worth it

Amazing Japanese food. The sushi and ramen are well worth it. It gets busy at lunch time. If you're going to be dining in then get there quick.

The sunken table area is quite cool downstairs but we sat at a normal table. The atmosphere was super off with it being dead quiet with no music. Just an awkward atmosphere. The salmon sashimi was really good, super fresh! I had a rice bowl with steak as my main and it was just okay- it was pretty bland and could’ve done with a sauce, there was just so so much pickled ginger as well, it would’ve been nice to have some other veg. The waitress was amazing, super lovely and she was concerned when we left loads of food at the end but we were just so full!

Amazing food as always. Service was great but feels like could be made better with attentiveness and better order taking process. Love the terrace and the setting on a sunny day, can’t wait for it to open indoor.
