Kotthu Street in Coventry

Complete liars, online order taken and as no food delivered. I went to the shop. And it’s closed !!

I am an almost regular customer and love the mutton curry with pol roti. Today however, I cannot say I am happy with the service and professionalism shown to my by koththu street. As you can see in the picture attached the portion of mutton curry barely scratched the surface of this dish. The two pieces of mutton you see there is 95% bone. This is not acceptable. When the restaurant was called and a complaint was made no efforts were taken to rectify the error. The guy who answered hung up the phone too. Please make an effort to make a quality meal with a decent portion size for ALL customers you serve.

Food was great. Nice and clean area for sit in if required (though very small area with limited seating - best for small numbers). Service was great, only you need to make sure they have understood the order. I enquired about their meal offer but decided on something different, I got a mix of what I wanted and didn't. However the food turned out to be good so glad to have sampled the wider menu. Also great for clearly labelled dietary options.

We have been regularly eating from Koththu street and today we ordered 2 fried rice , a noodles and two koththus. The 2 kotjthus were perfectly good but the rice and the noodles were a disaster. The chicken which was used for both had a very strong sour taste and my children refused to eat. The chicken must be spoilt and when I called they didn’t admit it fully but casually said the chicken would have been out in the summer heat too long and apologised. They should have a better way to keep the marinated chicken unspoilt and also to give a customer a refund or credit.

Brilliant authentic food! Ordered the veg Kotthu meal deal which came with a drink and two vegetable rolls. Very reasonable price for the large portion size. Food came piping hot, the rolls were very crispy. Great Sri Lankan food, hope to try new dishes in the future. Lovely attentive staff.

I can give three stars based on taste because this is the reason I tried two dishes, both of which are bad because their freshness is questionable and too many spices are added not a palatable dish, so customers please consider the qualities of flavours. Thank you.

Not enough food for the money. Less food. Lam Rice is not good.

The lamprais is exceptional, kotthu is good. The mutton meal quite ordinary

Mutton biriyani was bad, rice too mushy and soft and not enough meat

Ordered food around 10:40 which is before closing time, the order was accepted by the restaurant but the food was never delivered. The restaurant dint have the courtesy to respond nor at least inform that they couldn't deliver, was tired calling them. Worst experience!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally a decent Sri Lankan take away in the midlands with good prices. The kotthu was the best I’ve tried in ages and not comparable to any other restaurants in UK. The shop is good for a quick family dine in as well but the interior could be improved. Keep it up! 🙌

This was probably the best food I've tasted in I can't even remember how long. The mutton curry was incredible. Even the deep fried chilli served on the side was amazing. There was nothing I didn't like about this meal.

Very disappointed. I don’t know why they are serving very bad food to customers. Chicken and mutton rice gone bad and started to smelling when I opened the parcels. They are making mutton rolls with minced meat and gone bad. I have reported to local council.

Although not a lot of space for seating..food was amazing and had a homely quality.

One of the waste please, I seen They don’t know what is the Mutton Devil I ordered it Mutton devil, but they give me Mutton and Fry it’s not fresh at all Please don’t waste the money go somewhere else

Best ones are mutton curry and vatlappam. Bit disappointed with the taste of biriyani.

I would like to congratulate Khottu Street for the best (hands down) take out I have had since living in Coventry. The flavours are incredible, each dish cooked to perfection. You guys have certainly raised the bar, thank you! I will be ordering again (and again) and encouraging everyone I know to do the same. If you're reading this and thinking of ordering... do it!

Couldn't add a follow up from the same account (Hamz) so using my husband's: We've ordered a few times again since I left my review and Kothu Street has quickly become our go-to for takeouts. I'm surprised about the Biriyani review below because I had the same last week and it was nothing short of delicious! It was too good. Their customer service is a straight 10/10 and they literally are the best Srilankan/Indian takeout here in Coventry. 👌🔥

I would not recommend dining in at this place. The chicken biriyani was a disappointing experience in Coventry. The rice was served lukewarm, and the chicken was served really cold! The menu and pictures might mislead you into thinking it would be presented on a banana leaf, but that's just for advertising purposes. There are other places in Coventry within the same price range (or even cheaper) that offer better options. Definitely wouldn’t recommend…

One of best restaurants at UK I have tried for South Indian food. Superb taste, reasonable priced, good quantity.... You can request more spicy if required 😉... Welcomed staff... Nothing to say more, worth a try.... Highly recommended for South Indian style food...

Spice levels were high for me. Tried parotta curry and mutton roti. Starters are good.

We've ordered from Kothu Street quite a lot of times now. By far the BEST SriLankan/Indian food I've had in the UK. They're the best. Top-notch quality and the taste is mouthwatering.

Love to write a review on Kotthu street. I am a keralite who lives in Scotland. I visited this place as I have heard of Sri Lankan food from my friends. Its pretty similar to kerala food. I had Lambryse and a takeaway chicken biriyani. No words to describe the taste. Simply superb😘❤. I think they should convert it to a restaurant. I recommend it for all south indian community 😍

Best quality rolls, both veg and non veg Veg string hopper -5 star Note- do ask for spicy levels, as generally I ask them to make it less spicy than usual preparation, which suits me.

Ordered takaway. I had the veg curry with rice, veg rolls, string hoppers and parotta. And it was all amazing, some of if not the best food I've eaten. I've not had Sri Lankan food before, but I want to again.

I ordered Mutton Liver Pirattal with rice. The dish was really tasty and healthy. The portion of oil in the dish was balanced and not like other restaurants where they flood food with oil. Mutton liver was yummy. The packaging was good too. The only thing I would suggest is to put all the curries like dal, fry etc in separate containers. Dal became very dry.

I ordered the mutton devil, rice box and mutton curry. Best Sri Lankan food takeaway. Very friendly staff. Especially one person who is always joyful and cheerful. Best place for Asian food.

The taste of the food was excellent, and the kottu was undoubtedly the best I have had in the UK. It is worth noting that the food was moderately spicy, but only because we requested medium spice. The incredibly friendly staff is happy to accommodate your spice preference, so make sure to let them know. Overall, the service was amazing, and the staff were very helpful.

Super Tasty Authentic Srilankan Foods

Tried the roti, Polos (jackfruit) cutlet, and vegetarian kottu. Large portions and well worth the price. The food especially the roti and cutlet was very tasty.
