Review by a True Malaysian: The atmosphere has an old-school kopitiam vibe, giving it a nostalgic touch. But the real star? The food ⭐️ it deserves all the love! We started with Teh Tarik, and from the very first sip, perghh! The perfect balance of sweetness and creaminess instantly brought back the taste of home. Next was the Nasi Lemak. The sambal was decent, the chicken crispy, and the telur goreng had that classic, comforting touch. Then came the Char Kuey Teow ⭐️one word: PERGHH! The wok hei, the char, the flavour, the seafood, simply sedap! My husband and I truly enjoyed our dinner here.

Enjoyed an excellent lunch of salted egg yolk chicken wings and Malaysian curry mee today. The curry mee was rich and hearty, and the salted egg chicken wings were the star of the show - I would say they're one of the best wings i've ever tasted. I’d be surprised if there is a better, more authentic Malay restaurant in the UK. The beef rendang, so often done badly, was absolutely on point. And I can’t recall ever tasting better salt & pepper squid. Enak sekali.

I had an incredible dining experience at the restaurant! The flavors were absolutely authentic of Malaysia. The dishes were perfectly seasoned, with a beautiful balance of spices and fresh ingredients. From the rich and creamy laksa to the perfectly char-grilled satay skewers, every bite was bursting with flavor. The staff were warm, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, creating the perfect setting to enjoy the meal. This is the worst restaurant service I have seen in years. I have a severe allergy to peanuts, and when ordering I had a specific request not to put any peanuts in the food I ordered, which the waiter replied with that there were no peanuts. When the food came out, there were peanuts, and when I sent the food back to remove the peanuts, the cook said that the sauce contained peanuts. The cook mentioned that we should have requested no peanuts, but that was what we did. I am glad I didn’t eat it. Ending on a few positive notes: despite we came in just before closing time, they still served us, though they did rush us. The food was also ok, not amazing, but ok. However, this is not enough to forget the previous incident.

We visited Kopitiam last week and enjoyed some truly authentic Malaysian food. We ordered a variety of dishes, including Char Kway Teow, Moon Lingh Ho Fun, Malaysian Dry Noodles, and of course, Nasi Lemak and Rojak. The flavors were absolutely fantastic. The drinks were also carefully crafted, especially the Ice Milo, with its adorable bear decoration that charmed both kids and adults alike. We were also lucky enough to try the steamed Sago Kuih and Lekor, the special dishes of the day that aren't on the menu – they were incredibly delicious. Overall, we believe Kopitiam is one of the best Malaysian restaurants in Birmingham. Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic Malaysian cuisine!

I've eaten here several times, and every time I forget to write a review. I booked a table online an hour before coming, and luckily, I managed to get a reservation. When I arrived, the place was full, and I had to wait a bit before getting seated. Eating here is very convenient because there are many street parking spaces right in front of the restaurant. Make sure to have cash ready, as it's cash-only. I always order the red bean ice here; in my opinion, it's the best in Birmingham. The curry mee is also very authentic (I once mistakenly ordered the asam laksa, which was too sour for my taste). This time, I also ordered salted egg chicken (slightly sweet) and Malaysian dried noodles (Kon Loh Mee). Unfortunately, the roast pork was sold out by the time we arrived, which made the curry mee and Malaysian dried noodles a bit plain. My favourite part is the soy sauce on the dried noodles, which has a very Malaysian flavour! This is one of the Malaysian restaurants I regularly visit, and I'll definitely be back.

The service is superb because the staff are clearly happy to be there, they are always attentive and speedy to respond to my requests. The food was the highlight of my experience. This restaurant located in Jewellery Quarter of Birmingham offers authentic Malaysian dishes which were nice and tasty. Price wise affordable generally a main meal is about £10. Parking outside on the street is free on Sunday and at a low rate (sth like £1+ per hour) during weekdays via Ringo. However, the setting/atmosphere of this restaurant is average, at times the room can be a bit smoky/greasy smells perhaps due to poor ventilation system so a max 4-star rating from me. Please note they only accept cash/bank transfer (no credit/debit card) which is quite standard for a lot of restaurants in the city centre.

This place has gone extremely downhill from recent years. Service in particular shocking. The lady who served us barely acknowledged us and was extremely dismissive when taking our order. We had to ask multiple times for our drinks to come and when they finally arrived we were almost done with the meal. The food was bland and average at best. In the past the ingredients used were fresh, and the dishes flavourful but they have gone to using frozen veg and poor quality meat instead. On another occasion I have been served pork, despite making it very clear that I cannot eat it and asking multiple times about whether pork was in the dish. I even asked again when the food arrived and the waiter was insistent until another waitress was asked to confirm. I did not receive an apology for this. All in all I would avoid this place, what was an amazing restaurant has gone bad very, very quickly. What a shame.

This is by far the best Malaysian restaurant in the whole of Birmingham. This was recommended by my mum, who is Malaysian and very picky about her food. You know that a restaurant is good if an Asian parent recommends it, because nothing compares to mum’s cooking. We got beef rendang, Nasi lemak, and the salted egg wings. Everything was perfect. The salted egg wings made me cry at how good they were. Even reheated a few hours later, they were still good. The rendang melts in your mouth. Everything is perfectly seasoned. The Sambal was great. This is not a typical Chinese Takeaway Restaurant, but a proper Malaysian Kopitiam. With higher prices, the food quality is really good. Although I expect to see a bigger portion or more ingredients given their prices, honestly. On their menu, it is said that the Mee Goreng comes with Chicken and Fried Beancurd. Maybe they meant Bean Sprouts, which were there. Or maybe they meant Fish Tofu, which was there but I thought that was part of the extra Seafood. Whatever, I really didn't taste anything like Chicken. If dine in, then cash only. Please note the restaurant could become extremely busy sometimes during lunch or dinner! Waiting for longer than 1 hour for some dishes is definitely possible, said by one of the staff. P.S. (Answers to the Owner) Thanks for your responses and yes, you got the right order. When ordering Mee Goreng, I only commented 'no onion and no spring onion' and ticked the option for Prawns and Seafood with £1 extra. Maybe my understanding was slightly different, I thought all the original ingredients would be there plus Prawns and Seafood if I paid £1 extra. No worry, next time I will make everything clearer when placing an order.

BEST Cantonese takeaway in Birmingham. Family been using them for years! They NEVER disappoint! Thank you for free fortune cookies i honestly appreciate. Big portions, Great quality, amazing prices and most importantly no matter what the weather is, the food is always FRESH FRESH FRESH. Staff are friendly as always and the delivery driver always on time and has a smile. This restaurant will always have my support.🥳

I really want to go to this ice house to eat, but is there a parking lot nearby that is safer? Please give me some advice.

Just been this afternoon for the first time ever to a tattu restaurant. Had heard really good things and was really looking forward to a much needed day date with my husband whilst our daughter was at nursery! We were greeted and showed to a table by a very friendly lady. Then we were looked after by Vahbiz who was very attentive throughout our visit. We opted for the taster menu with a few extras. It is on the pricey side but I already knew this before dining and do think the food, setting and service meet this! Can’t wait to return when we are in the area again, thanks for making our first visit so memorable.
