Absolutely love this place, incredible authentic flavours and atmosphere, my favourite place to go.

So pleased we came here for a family meal. We decided to order first before the rest of the family came. But the food was cooked so quickly while we decided to wait for the rest of the family. Sorry. Our mistake. The noodles soon became cold but the owner was kind and gracious to heat up one of the dish for us. We promised not to do it again. All the dishes we ordered were of excellent taste and quality. Thank you for your lovely and professional customer service.

Great food at a good price point

Small family sized restaurant. Roughly can cater for 40 people. The atmosphere was nice. The food tasted quite authentic. Service was ok, waitress wasn't talkative, just took our orders without a smile. Food was served quickly and tasted delicious. The card machine doesn't work so we had to pay cash.

I've eaten here several times, and every time I forget to write a review. I booked a table online an hour before coming, and luckily, I managed to get a reservation. When I arrived, the place was full, and I had to wait a bit before getting seated. Eating here is very convenient because there are many street parking spaces right in front of the restaurant. Make sure to have cash ready, as it's cash-only. I always order the red bean ice here; in my opinion, it's the best in Birmingham. The curry mee is also very authentic (I once mistakenly ordered the asam laksa, which was too sour for my taste). This time, I also ordered salted egg chicken (slightly sweet) and Malaysian dried noodles (Kon Loh Mee). Unfortunately, the roast pork was sold out by the time we arrived, which made the curry mee and Malaysian dried noodles a bit plain. My favourite part is the soy sauce on the dried noodles, which has a very Malaysian flavour! This is one of the Malaysian restaurants I regularly visit, and I'll definitely be back.

Small family sized restaurant. Seats roughly 40 people. The atmosphere is really nice especially in the summer, it really feels like an authentic Malaysian restaurant. I felt very comfortable sitting and having a nice friday cheat meal despite being a foreigner. The service is superb because the staff are clearly happy to be there, they are always attentive and speedy to respond to my requests. The food was the highlight of my experience. I don’t think you can get this authentic and rich flavour aromas anywhere else Birmingham at the moment. The best part is that my picket feels healthy even after filling my stomach to the brim

This restaurant located in Jewellery Quarter of Birmingham offers authentic Malaysian dishes which were nice and tasty. Price wise affordable generally a main meal is about £10. Parking outside on the street is free on Sunday and at a low rate (sth like £1+ per hour) during weekdays via Ringo. However, the setting/atmosphere of this restaurant is average, at times the room can be a bit smoky/greasy smells perhaps due to poor ventilation system so a max 4-star rating from me. Please note they only accept cash/bank transfer (no credit/debit card) which is quite standard for a lot of restaurants in the city centre.

This place has gone extremely downhill from recent years. Service in particular shocking. The lady who served us barely acknowledged us and was extremely dismissive when taking our order. We had to ask multiple times for our drinks to come and when they finally arrived we were almost done with the meal. The food was bland and average at best. In the past the ingredients used were fresh, and the dishes flavourful but they have gone to using frozen veg and poor quality meat instead. On another occasion I have been served pork, despite making it very clear that I cannot eat it and asking multiple times about whether pork was in the dish. I even asked again when the food arrived and the waiter was insistent until another waitress was asked to confirm. I did not receive an apology for this. All in all I would avoid this place, what was an amazing restaurant has gone bad very, very quickly. What a shame.

Lovely food, decent price, very quick friendly service - will be coming here more. There’s nothing else like it nearby either, definitely worth a visit if you fancy something a bit different when you’re in the JQ.

*cash place* Small, slightly isolated authentic Malaysian place in JQ. I went there on recommendation and what a great surprise. You know it’s gonna be good when the place looks homely and this one definitely did. Menu caters for all tastes, and the food I ordered was delicious. I took a drink, Milo and it was great as well. Total for a drink and food was £14 which is very reasonable. ❗️Please note that it is a small kitchen and they can’t certify to meet any of your allergies and that all dishes contain residues of peanuts. I would recommend it if you are in the area or if you really crave Malaysian food and fancy a lil trot til its location 😊

Truly authentic Malaysian food. Ordered Char Kway Teow with extra seafood. The fragrance smell of the sambal hair bee was so strong (mouth watering)!! The plate of Char Kway Teow was wallop up within minutes.. Must come and try if you are nearby (Highly recommend) .

Wow! This place is the real deal if you're looking for authentic Malaysian food! I've been wanting to visit for some time, and I'm so glad I did! It certainly won't be my last visit here! Service was welcoming and friendly. We shared two dishes (one rice dish and one noodle dish). Perfect portion sizes for two for lunch. I also had a red bean shake drink, which was lovely and almost like a pudding! Highly recommended!

This is like a simple eatery common in southeast asia, food is like no other! Like travelling to the Malaysia through food! I like the place and will come back for more! Highly recommend if you want an authentic and adventurous south asian food!

This is by far the best Malaysian restaurant in the whole of Birmingham. This was recommended by my mum, who is Malaysian and very picky about her food. You know that a restaurant is good if an Asian parent recommends it, because nothing compares to mum’s cooking. We got beef rendang, Nasi lemak, and the salted egg wings. Everything was perfect. The salted egg wings made me cry at how good they were. Even reheated a few hours later, they were still good. The rendang melts in your mouth. Everything is perfectly seasoned. The Sambal was great. Everything about this restaurant is authentic and delicious, plus the portion sizes are big enough to share!

Their Malaysian taste is authentic among all restaurant in Birmingham.. yet they served very traditional pan Asian style of cooking and definitely catering all taste buds to be challenge. Nice and I’ll revisit again.. perhaps every week from now :)

I stumbled upon this hidden gem by just looking at good places to eat around Jewelry Quarter. I saw the reviews and was really intrigued. Food is really good! If not excellent! The best nasigoreng and beef rendang I ever tasted!! Actually all the food I tried were really good. I have already been 2x. To try different food in the menu. I loved the dessert too. The ambience is nice and cozy, staff were nice and friendly and make good recommendations. I will definitely keep coming back. (I posted pics on my 2 trips)

The best Malaysian resto in Brum. The place is with homey/southeast asian vibe. The resto is owned by malaysian family which is why its very authentic. My favorite combo is Nasi Lemak + teh tarik

Food is incredible here in this hidden gem tucked away off the main track in the JQ. Plenty to choose from but ALWAYS have the salted egg yolk fried chicken... It's IMMENSE!

Great restaurant with delicious dishes, especially the Char Kway Teow and salted egg chicken wings. I really enjoy the Poki and yin yang milk tea for drink, showcasing a distinctive Malaysian flavor. By the way, the staff is very friendly—overall, a fantastic dining experience.

I went here today, to get some take away, as I was in the vicinity. I ordered the Sambal Pork with Okra, Nasi Goreng and Malaysian Dry Noodles...and everything was cooked to perfection and the spices were just right...the family loved it! In addition to that, the service with an amazing smile, from the young lady who made me a coffee in a cup filled to the brim 😬...just made it perfect. I'll be going back again...soon!

This is not a typical Chinese Takeaway Restaurant, but a proper Malaysian Kopitiam. With higher prices, the food quality is really good. Although I expect to see a bigger portion or more ingredients given their prices, honestly. On their menu, it is said that the Mee Goreng comes with Chicken and Fried Beancurd. Maybe they meant Bean Sprouts, which were there. Or maybe they meant Fish Tofu, which was there but I thought that was part of the extra Seafood. Whatever, I really didn't taste anything like Chicken. If dine in, then cash only. Please note the restaurant could become extremely busy sometimes during lunch or dinner! Waiting for longer than 1 hour for some dishes is definitely possible, said by one of the staff. P.S. (Answers to the Owner) Thanks for your responses and yes, you got the right order. When ordering Mee Goreng, I only commented 'no onion and no spring onion' and ticked the option for Prawns and Seafood with £1 extra. Maybe my understanding was slightly different, I thought all the original ingredients would be there plus Prawns and Seafood if I paid £1 extra. No worry, next time I will make everything clearer when placing an order.

Great authentic Malaysian cuisine!

Having read the reviews and seen the photos I noted this as a must try to relive the amazing cuisine of Malaysia/Indonesia. Maybe it was an off night but to open a takeaway worth £30 to see beef swimming in oil, with little to no actual curry it was a huge disappointment.

Found this absolute gem by complete accident. Being from Singapore not many things will ever satisfy or compare to an Ice Kopi with some Rendang. So happy to have found a Kopitiam in the UK with Authentic Malay food. Will most certainly return with all of my Family!

A lovely family ran eatery offering authentic Malaysian dishes. Food was flavorful with an interesting mix of spicy, salty and sometimes sweet notes. Generous portion size and friendly service. Limited seating inside so if you’re a large party, suggest booking ahead. Loved the kopi, which was almost like a chocolatey coffee. Good value for money. Would come back again. Cash only.

Most authentic Malaysian food in UK. No contest. Curry mee might even be better than some Malaysia local places. As a Malaysian, definitely recommended to give a visit if craving for Malaysian food.

As a Malaysian currently studying in Birmingham, Kopitiam definitely has the most authentic Malaysian food here. I've been here a many times now. The nasi lemak with rendang is so fragrant and yummy and is my go to order whenever i'm here with friends.

Really homely place with authentic Malaysian food. I always bring my friends here and they love it every time. The mee goreng, nasi lemak ayam merah, and laksa are amazing for those who have never tried Malaysian food, you can’t go wrong with these choices.

Brought here by my malaysian friends, and it was so good! I especially liked the rojak and salted egg prawns!!! Char Kway Teow was also great. Hokkien Mee/Mie was of the black sauce/ thick noodle style, not the (Penang) style I was used to, so I can’t judge it. Hopefully one day they can serve Penang Hokkien Mee too?

Food is excellent and the most authentic Malaysian food I had in the UK, services was OK but need to wait cause there was only one woman working behind the counter. Edit : Went there lots of time after the initial review and the food is excellent. Had almost the entire menu by now and the lady boss is very welcoming but it will be pack during the weekends so make sure to call in to book ahead of time.

Absolutely spot on - authentic tastes and range was excellent - the only thing missing was Hainanese Chicken rice - rendang, char kway teo, nasi lemak, bak ku teh, ice kacang were spot on Bagus lah! Mari makan!

A great spot in the Jewellery Quarter. Place was busy and they were turning folks away. Food was amazing, I had the char kway teo which was spot on. Amazing soft drinks but no booze. Cheap prices too. Full of Malaysians while we were there which is always a good sign.

Found this gem out of the blue, amazing food here and if you dont know what to get, ask the staff or even tables next to you as they really help. The nasi lemak was soo good with lamb curry and sambal. Food comes really quick too.

I love Malaysian food. Kopitiam is now my local favourite. I’ve not found anywhere close to this place authenticity wise in Birmingham or the surrounding West Midlands. Bang on service, fast and fresh. We be returning very soon.

We visited today with friends at lunchtime. Fast, friendly service and fantastic food. I had the Mee Goreng, the flavour of the sauce was amazing. All 4 of us enjoyed our dishes and said we’ll definitely return. A great find and local to home.

Having lived in Singapore for a few years I can honestly say this is the most authentic Singaporean and Malaysian food I’ve had outside of SE Asia. Enjoyed it so much the first time, we went back at least a couple more times that same month, and we’re a 45 minute drive away. Would thoroughly recommend the char kway teow, nasi lemak with curry chicken, and the salted egg yolk chicken is INCREDIBLE 😋 I’m yet to have enough room left to polish off an ice kachang but I fully intend on trying one on my next visit, which will probably be in a few weeks if I can wait that long to go back again. To add to all that, the staff are really friendly and we’ve never had to wait very long for our food at all. We’ve been frequent visitors to the Arcadian area of Birmingham for many years, and whilst we have a few favourite spots, nowhere is a patch on Kopitiam for Malaysian food. I should say, I’ve only ever left one other tripadvisor review because I just can’t be bothered, this place is just so great I felt compelled!

Hidden away from view a little, this Malaysian restaurant is well worth searching for. Me and my friend had an amazing meal, the Malaysian coffee is excellent too. Not many veggie options but they were able to cater to me. Alot of dishes have shellfish so inform the restaurant in advance of allergies. Definitely worth a visit. 4.5
