Kokoro Sushi and Bento in Surrey Heath

Every time I visit Southampton which is quite regularly I can never resist a yummy pot of rice, breaded chicken and sweet chilly chicken from this amazing restaurant. I wouldn’t class it as a restaurant but maybe a small cafe sort of thing that sells Japanese food. I 100% recommend you stop here EVERY TIME you come to Southampton. I came on October 30th 2023 and I couldn’t resist finally writing a review. Please never close down. You never disappoint me ❤️

Fast service, large portions and great value. Staff are friendly enough. Some of the food is already cooked and on counter, we ordered chicken gyoza and thankfully they cooked those fresh. Only challenge I had was that the unami noodles they came with were underneath a load of liquid so the gyozas got soggy. No big deal as I assume this is how it usually comes. Chilli chicken and rice was very tasty and even a medium portion was more than enough. Much better fast food option than the other obvious ones in Camberley, and not hugely more expensive!

Love the food but oh goodness it's ful of noodles instead of the curry or the chilli chicken. Soo many noodles or so much rice! Such a shame as taste is delicious.

Long been unhappy about being charged .50p to have Katsu sauce in a paper cup when a take-away. Today, they charged the .50p and then demanded £1.20p for the Katsu sauce! I argued with them that the sauce is included in the meal price. They already ask for .50p for the paper cup and then want £1.20p for the Katsu sauce I had already paid for. I genuinely feel this chain is a rip off for their attitude to extra payments. Not the staff to blame.

Had chicken katsu curry with rice. Not sure this is chicken. Very grey gristly meat. Most likely reconstituted “meats”. Not the serving staffs fault, but management should get this analysed and fast. Someone in the supply chain may be getting brave. Hence I would not trust them again for a while. Katsu curry sauce and rice acceptable.

Certainly quick and a reasonable selection, however I found the Chicken spicy curry a bit tasteless and watery, although tender enough.

Went for lunch, the place was busy. Reason it's busy cos the food is really tasty and priced reasonably. I had the teriyaki chicken and rice, portions are really generous. Really nice atmosphere.

Ordered from here and visited in store. Amazing food, so tasty. Bit of a wait in store when we visited but it was during the height of the Covid pandemic so forgivable. Would highly recommend to anyone who likes Asian cusine.

Disappointing, firstly told we couldn’t order a medium meal, large only. The salmon teriyaki was mostly salmon skin, small portion mostly of rice. The sauce tasted more like sweet and sour rather than teriyaki. Hoping this would have changed from the last time I ordered but same disappointment. The sushi is recommended instead.

This place is just a great place to eat. Lovely fresh prepared food great friendly staff I would highly recommend this place. As the food is delicious me and my misses love the food here

Always love to go to Kokoro when we're in town, my daughter always goes for Katsu Chicken and it is absolutely amazing. I usually opt for a mixture of Katsu and the spicy pork (which is VERY spicy!). The portion sizes and huge so we're always satisfied when we leave. Good hot, fresh food and the service is always excellent. Excellent value for money. Definitely worth a visit.

This place has the best sweet and sour chicken, the portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. Staff are always smiling even when the queue is out the door. Oh and the gyoza are great too - I would like to try other dishes (the katsu is very popular) but I can’t help ordering the S&S because it’s sooooo good! It’s a clean and bright restaurant in a handy central location in Camberley.

My favourite place to go to for a quick bite. Generous portion. Good value for money. Delicious food. Seating area is quite tight, especially if you have a pushchair. Could be a bit more generous with their napkins though!

Me and my girlfriend come here every Saturday. The food is so tasty and the staff are always happy to help.

Great food , reasonably priced and big portions, I mean BIG. You can even choose to mix dishes for better variety. Available for Deliveroo but only before 8pm as the canteen/ diner is in a shopping centre

Visited very late on a Sunday, the staff were amazing and accommodating cooking tofu for me when they had none left at the end of the day! Food was great, and staff lovely. Will visit again!

The staff are friendly and always provide great service. I’ve become a regular to Kokoro as it’s great place if your looking for cheap, quick and easy food like myself.

Food always fresh made daily onsite. Great quality food and generous portions which translates to distinctly great tasting japanses food. We have always liked Japanese cuisine and Kokoro has a variety of selection of sushi, dumplings, soup, noodles and rice with toppings. Very reasonably priced and safely packaged if ordered to take away. Never disappoints.

Been here a few times now and always been satisfied with the food and service offered. The staff are very happy, friendly and welcoming. The food is always piping hot and of excellent quality. They also are very generous on the amount of meat and rice/noodles they give you. Will definitely be visiting again!

I usually go shopping in Guildford and stop for lunch at a different noddle shop. Never been to a Kokoro before , but don’t think I ll ever do . I was not impressed

I eat here a lot when I’m working as it’s something different (and amazing) for lunch. There can be queues but they move quickly and there’s nearly always somewhere to sit if you wish to eat in or you can takeaway. This is good Asian cuisine with a very tasty vegetarian option. Always quick and delicious.

Always love the food and the environment of this place but have to admit the quality of spicy pork curry is going downhill.

Tasty exotic food. Good price portions, good for left overs as well for later on the day.

Good if you're looking for something different for lunch. The portions may look small in the tub but there is plenty in there. I had Katsu curry. My partner had sweet chilli chicken which was the tastiest out if our choices. Food is served piping hot, perhaps a little too hot but delicious none the less.

Really lovely chicken katsu curry and large portions too! Can't wait to order again from here and it's an added benefit that they use Deliveroo too.

Had lunch here and was not surprised to see how popular the place is. The counter staff are friendly and engaging ; they even allowed us to sample a couple of the dishes on offer. The food was freshly cooked and tasted good. At such a reasonable price it would be hard to find a better quick lunch in the heart of Camberley.

while we visit Camberley regularly we have never walked past Kokoro before but found it today ! sushi was fresh and tasty and chicken katsu curry was delicious and great value...we will certainly be back

popped into this place as everywhere was busy. WoW, what I surprise. the food was fantastic. I have walked past this place hundreds of times but never tried it. I was missing a right treat. I would recommend this place to anyone. great portion sizes for a fair price.

It’s really good dining experience for me to have lunch there. The foods were all fresh with high quality but cheaper prices than other restaurants in the area. I strongly recommend the place.

I had seen this restaurant and thought it was just a sushi bar. There was quite a selection of other tasty Chinese cuisine. All with a generous portion of rice or noodles. I had rice with katsu curry and sweet and sour chicken. Delicious. Cost was £5.95. Excellent food.

Una visita interesante. Hay mucho que decir. En búsqueda de comida vegana (foto) una Ella local preguntaba en Kokoro Camberley. Después de algún tiempo pensando sobre el menú, Ella decidió en algunos de pollo vegetariano y fideos. Pero bueno mal pollo fideos. Sabor estándar de fanta. Va a pasar algún tiempo pensando en volver. Quizás una visita de seguimiento es para explorar realmente la cocina.

Mi esposa y yo visitamos Kokoro regularmente y normalmente disfruta de la comida. Hoy, mi esposa y mi hija pidió un plato que tienen regularmente y ambos pareció insoportablemente picante. Cuando lo comentamos al personal, solo se rieron de nosotros. No es un ejemplo de buen servicio al cliente y después de pasar más de 20 libras en el almuerzo y arrojando en la papelera, dudo de que volveremos. Que pobre espectáculo Kokoro.

Este es un gran lugar y puede llegar a estar muy concurrida en hora del almuerzo durante el fin de semana pero bien vale la pena esperar. Tienen una fantástica selección de sushi frío (que siempre tengo! ) a un precio estupendo. Siempre sabor fresco y un montón de sabor. Mis recomendaciones son los bolsillos de Inari y el aguacate Maki. Mi pareja siempre recibe los platos tipo de estofado con arroz y carne o fideos con salsa, de nuevo con un montón de variedad y las porciones son muy generosas para el precio. En general, sin duda recomendaría este lugar, y seguirá yendo cuando realizaba un viaje de compras en Camberley.

Normalmente no hubiera comido un sitio como este, pero mi madre recomendado y me sorprendió gratamente.

He pasado este bar de comida rápida mucho en las últimas semanas y siempre huele tan delicioso. Yo acababa de salir del gimnasio hoy y necesitaba algo rápido, saludable y abundante. Como yo pagaba el chico estaba diciendo cómo toda la comida es muy fresca y créeme, sabía absolutamente deliciosa! Tengo la sensación de que volveré allí mucho ahora! ! Comida sana fresca! ! Muy feliz! ! !

First visit here. Portions were massive and possibly the kids could have shared. Food was tasty and there was something for all the family. Adults had spicy food, eight year old had sweet and sour and the fussy five year old had some chicken and rice. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for and in my opinion, ten times better than any burger place you could go to.

Kokoro is a fantastic place to get your lunch, especially if you are bored with eating the same mundane sandwich. There is a great variety of food to cater for everyone's taste. My personal favourite is the chicken teriyaki and spicy chicken. The sushi is not the best sushi I've ever had but definitely better than the ones you find at supermarkets. The service is also quick and the food is always piping hot. Overall if you are looking for something different and tasty, I highly recommend kokoro as I'm sure you can find something you enjoy.

My family and I went there yesterday for lunch. I had the chicken curry which was hot enough for me to eat but my husband and son's sweet and sour chicken (one with noodles and one with rice), was warm and needed heating up in the microwave. This was only at 11:30ish. The reason for this review is I was watching one of the ladies working there who had been preparing the sushi. The same gloves she was wearing were used to prepare the sushi, pick up the sushi that had fallen on the floor using the gloved hands. Then cleaning the counter with a chemical. Then putting food of some sort in a steamer which could have been rice. With the same gloves she opened a bag of some green vegetable and taking out the contents with her gloved hands. You're hygiene standards need improving!!'!

Don't touch the seafood udon soup. £5.50 for a few noodles, one tempura prawn and one shredded crabstick with miso soup must mean a mark-up of over 1000%

1st time here and we was very impressed Nice clean restaurant with a good level of service received as it was packed which is a good sign. Good choice of hot and cold sushi and bento, very well priced and you get large portions, open Monday to Saturday 9am to 7pm and Sunday 9am to 4.30pm.Food is served piping hot!! And takes a little while to cool down as all food is served in bowls which is a great idea for takeaway but I would love this place to give a paper plate opinion well worth checking this place good food big on taste

Firstly, I write only about the rice and noodle pots. I have never tried the sushi at this location.The dishes are served canteen style and you are free to mix and match the contents of your pots. Food is never dry or stale as the turnover is high.Sweet & Spicy chicken mixed with Hot Spicy works very well on the rice and a £6 pot will fill you up.Lavatory is clean and staff are mainly helpful.

Have walked past many times and decided to give it a try. Service quick but abrupt, portions and value very good. We are in and took half home for tea! Had Katsu curry ( so much chicken!) and teriyaki (not as nice) would def go again!

My partner and I both had the chicken katsu curry and we both loved it! The service is extremely fast and it makes a good alternative to the usual fast food options. They have a good selection of both hot and cold foods!

A great fast food alternative that's not so common outside of London. As a veggie there's enough on offer for me, and service is always fast

Having walked past this place many times, I went in to try it today. I went for the hot shelf, where you choose a tub, medium or small. You then get a choice of rice or noodles .... and one topping. I went in at 1200 but unfortunately, the Beef dish I wanted to try had already gone to a large group in front, leaving Sweet and Sour Chicken, Chilli Chicken, Pork and another dish. I went with sweet and sour as they were in a hurry to serve me .... probably wouldn't have given a few seconds longer? (£6) It was fine, take away standard and the noodles a little lacking in flavour for my taste. I found the Medium box too much for me and the good part is you can put the lid on your tub and take it home! OK if they have what you want ... but maybe not sure I would rush back?

just wanted to say that although the noodles were fine the chicken was extremely poor and some constructive criticism would be for them to prepare the chicken a little more carefully.

we have dined here quite a few times now over the last year and have never had a problem with service or food, but it does get very busy at lunchtime so we always aim to pop in before midday. my children love the katsu chicken and the dumplings. portions are very generous. staff have always been very friendly. the only thing it needs is a toilet because my son always wants the loo when he has a drink and then we have to make a dash back to the carpark toilets.....other than that its perfect

We stumbled upon this little gem of a casual eaterie while wandering around Camberley, bored, on a Sunday afternoon. What a pleasant change from the normal fast food suspects that haunt every town and city centre!Hubby and I both had the katsu curry and it was great. There was so much chicken - hubby counted 20+ bits of chicken in his medium sized meal alone and that's without the mountain of rice that accompanied it - all for the bargain price of £5.95! The in-laws had sweet & sour chicken and salmon teriyaki and were equally impressed. For the price, amount and quality of food we really couldn't complain. Judging by the steady flow of business that we witnessed while there we aren't the only ones who think like this. Kokoro please open a branch in Reading!

Our entire family just loves this place! Fast tasty food at its best! Love the sushi too!But my all time favourite is the chicken katsu on rice... A LARGE portion!Exceptionally clean, no fuss! So glad you came to Camberley Kokoro!

Not terrible. Food was good but the service was only ok. Good option if on the go and want something hot or something different. Will probably try somewhere else if I'm in camberley again.

Approx 75% of the time the food is luke warm at best, and their answer is to put it in the microwave. The staff however are always helpful

I have been here several times now. The good points:* Good portions - seriously, never order a large * Tasty food - hot and filling* Quick service - very efficient asian women on the counter, if slightly terrifying.* Value for money - loads of food for your money and 25p for an extra pot for sharesies.Bad points* Only ONCE have they actually had salmon teriyaki - I have been in 7 times. Why have it on the menu if you never make it?* Tables can be dirty due to the high turnaround of customers without enough time/staff to clean.* They microwave the noodles before serving. It's really odd.* Sometimes the noodles can be REALLY salty/msg. I'm downing water for the rest of the afternoon.If you don't eat meat and don't like tofu, you're screwed on hot food. Plain noodles or rice and curry sauce for you! On the whole though I like going here, and it makes a nice change if I haven't been bothered to make myself a packed lunch.I should really try the sushi - it looks fabulous and I see them in the mornings making it on my way to work.

I visit Kokoro in Guildford a lot, so was very excited when I heard they would be opening a new shop in Camberley! The food (hot and cold) is brilliant as ever, the staff are always friendly and the sushi is fresh and delicious every time! The range of foods and Korean snacks such as chocopies and kimchi is also very good as there is nowhere else nearby to buy these, definitely a 5 out of 5!

Had several takeaways from here. We live close to town, we go in order our pot of food each and take home! Quick and easy when we want a Chinese or an Asian dinner. Portions and value for money is great! And really tasty. Can't go wrong.

I am such a frequent visitor here, whenever I pass by, I cant keep away from Kokoro's amazing food and sushi selection and yumminess!!!Its super nice, sushi's are even better than the ones in London (Wasabi, for instance) and stuff is super friendly. I even call them up sometimes if I am coming to Camberley to find out whether they have my favourite selection. And they are always helpful :) There is no place to sit inside much, if you are with the family or a group, since its set up more for just a quick snack or meal on the go, but its enough to sit and eat undisturbed. Definitely recommend for food quality and prices!

Stopped in for a quick lunch before my train. All the food looked and tasted good.I had sweet and sour chicken with noodles and also tried my friends katsu chicken. Both were very tasty.I'll definitely be back for a quick lunch again.

Had chicken Katsu curry and it was lovely, prepared quickly, hot, tasty and filling. This is a superb place if you are looking for something quick which isn't horrendously bad for you. Try it!

Overpriced. Tables not clean. Some food that was spicy was too spicy. Thought it was a nice sushi restaurant but it was just a takeaway and overpriced. Best to have a small tub you won't be able to eat a medium one

Tried this place last week for a quick lunch. I was tempted by the hot food and chose the chicken curry and noodles. The food was served hot and the portion for the smallest size was generous and more than adequate for lunch. It was quite tasty but not especially interesting. Service was quick and there was plenty of seating. There were quite a number of other customers. This new venture clearly has a place in Camberley for a quick lunch if you don't want a sandwich or a burger. It didn't really float my boat though as the food tasted a bit too much of MSG for my taste (though I could be mistaken)

i took my husband here for lunch. I had the katsu curry with noodles and he had the chilli chicken with rice. We both had the medium meal and I had to take some home with me as there was a lot of food. It's very good value for money and so tasty. My husband hadn't been sure about it but he loved it so much he's already talking about our next visit. We will definitely be returning and taking our friends and families here too. Fantastic place with a good atmosphere.

Love this place. Best place in Camberley for a fast food lunch. Food is all freshly cooked and of high quality. Flavour is wonderful. Great value for money too

I can't rate this place highly enough. Japanese food is starting to happen in this country and it is so good to have this lovely place in the heart of Camberley. It reminds me of a cafe I ate in which was at the entrance to a Tokyo metro station. Now that might not sound inspiring but the food was heavenly and so is this cafe. It is simple tasty food served in a pleasant bright atmosphere. If you are put off by fear of raw fish, don't be. This is not that sort of a place - actually the fresh fish in the Tokyo fish market is stunning but then that is not what this is about. Eat there and take some home for tea. Marvellous.

Informal service and seating but delicious freshly made basic priced food with a busy turnover and casual atmosphere so people could watch the world go by or dash in quickly for a tasty lunch. Large choice of chiller drinks, cold salads and sides before hot food service counter. This no frills restaurant/takeaway has everything you need with cutlery, napkins, dry chillies, soy,sweet chilli sauce and even toothpicks at the side counters. Chicken Katsu curry is a hot favourite which my colleaugue chose. I had the Korean beef stew (very tender) and fresh white rice from the huge rice cooker. Cant wait to work through the menu asap.

Been in a couple of times, and have to say I like it. Soup is good, teriyaki chicken very good, sushi good.I think it's pricey, but tasty and well worth a visit. Lovely and clean, long overdue.

Popped in by myself for lunch, as I was down training in Camberley. This is what quick bites are all about! The usual fast food chains is not what people want anymore. I had chicken teriyaki and it was delicious. Size small portion was filling! I wanted to try the sushi but in total would have come to £10 bit pricey. Maybe put a lunch time special, meal deal or something on.The decor is very bright, seating arrangement isnt the best though. Will return.

Went to try the new Kokoro in Camberley which just been opened. A little disappointed that it is not the proper Japanese restaurant , the concept is you can take away food or eat in like Mcdonald. Tables and chairs are like school canteen. All in all food is ok, reasonable price for take away. No proper plates, glasses, spoons or forks, all paper and plastic only.

Good to see a new restaurant opened up in The Mall, Camberley. The staff are friendly and chatty, even though at times.... They are busy, and find it a struggle to answer you.lt is clean, bright and the staff are helpful. The sushi is expensive for what you get, however. On the hot plate, you get value for money. The noodles and a variety of chicken dishes are delicious, and so too is the beef.Visit - is a must. Even at lunchtime, when you'd expect it to be a challenge to get a seat, you can. lt is designed with long shared, bench seats and tables. You have a selection of chopsticks, knives and forks. No fancy coffees or teas available, just cold drinks from the chiller..... But that's not what you go there for - it's the tasty, freshly prepared food on site. Portion size is generous, especially the medium tubs; it'll keep you going for more than a while. Try to avoid the wobbly table next to the fire-exit-doors at the back, it's annoying each time you look at the table; let alone touch it!!! When asked for a piece of card to solve the wobble. The staff member said move. Just like that! Why, when you've just sat and settled down to enjoy your meal. Some better customer services skills required there. Or better still, get rid of all the wobbly tables - end off.Location. Saves you having to trek, all the way down to the Atrium because it is in the old Costa Cafe. l'm really please that KOKORO have kept up on it cleanliness, unlike it's previous tenants; that were quite happy to let it look like a dump. With food trodden in the carpet, crumbs and drinks bottles, juice / drips on the sofas and chairs. With tables often overflowing with disused cups and rubbish. I'd never heard of Kokoro but was delighted at the arrival of sushi to Camberley. My wife brought home two take-out trays today...absolutely delicious. Fresh as fresh (the message in the shop says 'eat within three hours' ) good portions of soy, mustard and ginger and perfect salmon. I'm told it was busy, which is great news as it is in The Mall, away from other cafes, though close to Costa and Subway. Seating inside. Highly recommended

Unfortunately I did a review on this under the Guildford place and it should have been Camberley I have never been to the Guildford one. I can recommend the Camberley. The food is excellent with a great choice It is fresh and hot and a small portion is more than enough for a meal, I had noodles with chicken teriyaki and Korean beef which was very tender, I also had a green tea . The place is bright and clean the staff were lovely and helpful and I will be returning soon. I also bought some sushi to bring home and that was delicious.

Only opened today but had the chance to visit. Very bright and clean, helpful and friendly staff. Good selection of fresh sushi to eat in or take out, and wide selection of curries and noodles/rice. Had spicy chilli chicken - really fresh crispy and gooey - with nice fresh noodles. Will certainly be back.
