I am surprised that there are a few negative reviews. We have been occasional customers for around thirty years and have always been very happy with the food and the staff.

Interesting range of curries including some Bangladeshi dishes that aren't often seen on UK menus. However, we were not that impressed by the food. Poppadom relishes were fairly standard, red sauce wasn't adding anything. Mushroom starter would probably have been really nice if the garlic in it was cooked for longer so the texture softened. Chicken main dish - sauce was flavourful but the texture of the chicken was like jelly, bit odd. The chilli garlic lamb was quite sour, flavour not as rich as you usually find with that dish, lamb OK but not melting like it is when you get a really good curry. Maybe we just got a bad day.

Not sure how the last 2 reviews came from same restaurant Amazing meal. Food lovely, tasty and great flavour. All expertly cooked by and served. Staff amazing. Lamb korai and honey chicken. Meat on both perfect. Awesome. Cant fault and will be back.

Dry old soggy stale chips. garlic bread dry cold, mushy And i ordered pilau rice but we got just plain white rice instead. The curry was very bad had no flavour and way to sweet, like they sprinkled sugar in the curry chicken also had a bad taste. The chicken chunks were way too undercooked 👎 its a shame i spend almost £25 for food that turns out to be horrible

Kohinoor is now the best Curry house in the area for both eating in or take away. Can’t fault it at all. BYOB if eating in.

Having seen some of these other reviews, I wonder if I drifted into a different restaurant. I came here with my family for the Sunday buffet menu and it was an overpriced disaster. My starter of Tandoori Lamb Chops consisted of just the one chop, most of which was bone. Two, maybe three mouthfuls of stringy, tough meat. The herbs & spices were ok, but it was nothing to write home about. Then came my Chicken Balti. FML, this was one of the worst baltis I’ve ever had in my life. It consisted of five chunks of chicken in what tasted like a meaty gravy. There was nothing else to it at all; no flavour, no spice, just the bland taste of brown. It bore no resemblance to any other Balti I’ve ever had. I’d honestly recommend the chef just chucks in an Aldi stir-in sauce or something - it would taste much better than the crap on offer here. The pilau rice that came with it barely covered a tiny serving plate. The best part of the whole meal was a Ferrero Rocher ice cream that the restaurant hasn’t made. The Sunday buffet is a bit of a misnomer. You can choose any starter and any main for £22.95, but by the time you’ve added on overpriced pappodums (£1 each plus £3 for the chutney) and overpriced drinks (can of Coke - £3.50) and a 10% service charge then it adds up to far higher. For what ended up costing us nearly £40 a head, I’ve had far better almost anywhere else. The portions are visibly smaller in order to keep the costs down, but the problem is that it still isn’t that cheap. For comparison, two weeks ago I was in Birmingham and had a stunning Balti and the meal cost £18 a head - admittedly only a main course and side orders, but it was far more generously portioned than this and infinitely better quality. I can only attribute the high ratings of this place to a lack of alternatives elsewhere. My parents often go to the Kohinoor and talk about how good it is. I think they’re insane, based on my trip here. This is my first experience here and I won’t be back. It was piss-poor from start to finish. It’s one of the worst Indian meals I’ve had in a long time.

Ate in for banquet night - Thursday night. Food was delicious and it was BYOB which was even better. Plenty of options on the banquet menu.

Went on Sunday evening. They had a singer, Elvis sound. Very good food, service and entertainment was good. Unexpectedly very pleased.

Just had a takeaway at Kohinoor after a friends recommendation, I had a 10 minute journey there & back, it was ready on time, but we found the Nan bread cold & hard, the chicken used in the dishes was tough as old boot as if it had been defrosted in a microwave, the tikka sauce was watery, can’t remember having a worse Indian ever. It’s not cheap to have a takeaway these days & it’s so annoying when it’s so bad! Will be having a word with my friend soon 🙄

Been using this restaurant as it’s fairly local and quite good food but very dissatisfied with the last visit which will be the last one for me as I thought the waiter extremely rude, when I complained my chicken madras looked more like chicken soup, he took it back and returned 5/6 minutes later when the rest of my meal was cold, no apology at all and made you feel like your an inconvenience as opposed to a fairly regular customer. I’m now using the new shad in Frindsbury, great food, excellent staff and not as spiteful with the cost, in a way I’m pleased I had this experience as the shad’s food and service so so much better.

Still our favourite Indian only 5min drive to collect takeaway, service when we eat in is always good and food always of good quality, just gutted no longer get free beer on takeaway collections anymore !

Had 50% of food through the fork app. Ok. Nothing amazing. Staff did seem a bit upset, however I think that was my fault for being late for my booking. Definitely stay away if vegan/vegetarian.

Good food...when it finally arrived. We've been here twice now as a family of four. Both times there were spare tables so the kitchen wasn't overwhelmed but the service was so so slow! We thought the first time was just a bad night but after a repeat performance we definitely won't be coming back. It took 1.5hrs for the mains to arrive and we had to ask where they were. Every other table had eaten their mains so the kitchen was literally just cooking our meal. When I asked where it was, the young man asked another member of staff but noone bothered to come and apologise or update us as to where our meals were. Such a shame, nice food but won't be going back.

Whether sit down or takeaway everything is consistently good. The staff are also efficient and courteous.

While the food is good the takeaway service is rubbish. Expect to wait at least half an hour after the time they give. When you mention this thy et don’t care and say they don’t give an exact time. Well the time we were sent was 20:07 which seems pretty expect to me unless they normally state the seconds too

Went for a birthday meal yesterday evening with group of friends. The food and service was excellent. The staff are always friendly and make you feel very welcome. Will definitely be going back. I had the Haryali chicken which I would recommend.

Very friendly and helpful staff, Willing to adapt a dish to your taste. The Restaurant is not licensed, however, you are welcome to bring your own beer and wine at no charge. All in all a very pleasant evening.

Could of been better - I’m not one to slander a local business but I ordered a madras and I can honestly say I’ve had Tikka Masalas that were more spicy, further more the sauce was so watery I was confused to if I was having a curry or a drinking a Bloody Mary after a long night out. Finally I think bubba hump shrimp boat must of sunk, because I only managed to get two small prawns in a whole prawn purée, rather disappointing experience to say the least.

We come down from Manchester to visit Gravesend 2-3 times a year to visit family and always look forward to a meal from Kohnioor. We were first introduced to the restaurant around 8 years ago and have always made time for a visit for a meal or take away. Whether sitting in or taking away we have always been delighted with the quality of the food…fantastic every time. Staff have always been friendly and helpful. Keep up the good work, see you again soon!

Always a decent takeaway but 2 times on the trot forgot the salad and 2 tiny pots of yoghurt sauce ! for the tandoori dishes don’t seem much but when you spend close to £100 a week should be treated better regulars are where your money comes from who ever is in charge of filling the bag teach them better will still use to see how it goes

Stumbled across this Indian restaurant looked good from the outside and people were eating inside so thought it would be good. Clean and tidy inside. Didn't realize it only served soft drinks so went for a small coke which was flat and asked for a jug of water three times before that arrived. (you have to take your own alcohol) Ordered our food, what we had was only ok nothing special, very small portions, chicken tikka dansak, chicken dupiaza, chicken tikka biryani, garlic nann, onion bhaji (only got 2 they were very small), 4 popadums and 2 small cokes. Received the bill £54.13, WOW!!!!!! that was an very, very expensive meal, got charged for the chutneys with the popadums, never have i ever been charged for chutney as it always comes with the popadums. Staff not very attentive.Did not visit the toilets so cannot comment on that, but also the waiter that took our order and delevered our food was chewing something!!! gum possibly?? and this is a big hate of mine. Will not be going back. All i can say is in my local Indian i can order this and more with 4 pints of cobra and the cost is the same and it is a far better meal, bigger portions, with friendly attentive staff, and complimentary drinks.

Was recommended Kohinoor from a friend. We will definitely be ordering here again. Food was delicious, arrived within the time stated. Would definitely recommend.

Never again, the most unwelcoming place I have ever visited. I have had better curries from a packet. 2 people 66 quid to have a menu thrown at you, without even a welcome. Looks great from the outside.. enjoy...it doesn't get any better.

First time there. Small restaurant in a small parade of shops. Nicely decorated with friendly staff. Reasonably priced, nice food. They do not have a drinks licence so you will need to take your own. They do supply glasses and ice.

Highly recommended. I've ordered delivery online and called in to ask questions and I was surprised with the high quality service. They answered all my questions and even called me back to confirm my request can be fulfilled. The dishes all came in great serving size and it was truly delicious.

We have just finished a gorgeous take away from this little gem, the delivery was prompt and the food was a delight - one mild complaint was that the naan wasn’t big enough...only because I wanted more though. Thoroughly tasty and worth every penny.

Ordered meal over the phone and was ready to collect in half an hour. poppadoms were added foc and so was complimentary bottle of soft drink of our choice. food was still piping hot when we got home and we were not disappointed at all. Starters of tandori prawns and mixed kebabs fantastic so was our main meals.. will be definitely eating there again and would absolutely recommend this restaurant.

Always lovely food and good service here would have got a 5 if they start giving lime pickle in the popadom service it’s my favourite and an Indian meal is not the same without it but what we had yesterday was very good fresh and spicy just how we like it

The Kohinoor has been my parents local take away since... Well forever. But we do occasionally visit for a sit down meal. On this occasion I was meeting up with a friend for a bit of 1-2-1 time.Nice little secluded booths mean you can have a meal and chat without disturbing others dining... A big plus for me, as I'm a bit of a Brian Blessed.The food was fresh, delicious and plentiful.Staff were attentive, but not in your face... It was a slow weekday, but we did end up spending a long time just chewing the fat. The staff left us to our catch up and didn't try to move us on, only topping our drinks up when called on. Truly a lovely relaxed atmosphere.

A great restaurant in my opinion with a great personal service. Haven't been in for almost a year and they still remembered my name when I walked in....and no it's not because I'd booked a table, that was done in my mate's name.

We regularly go to the Kohinoor for the Sunday buffet, extremely good value, as you can pick what you like from the menu, unlike some fixed buffet menus. We have been regular customers for over 15 years!!!

Great curry house. It’s certainly the best one in the area without a doubt. The food is delicious and the staff are great. It gets busy of an evening so probably best to book or you may be disappointed although the guys will always try and fit you in if they can. Never had a bad meal here and can highly recommend this restaurant.
