I had to wait almost 50 minutes to get my food, which was frustrating. The Chicken Manchurian was disappointing — not spicy or flavorful, even though I specifically asked for it to be spicy. The garlic naan was small and definitely not worth the £3 price. On a positive note, the vegetable biryani was tasty and came in good portions. Overall, the long wait and lackluster dishes made the experience underwhelming.

Visited for the first time with friends and certainly was not disappointed. The restaurant is clean, friendly and has a good atmosphere. The menu was varied and suited our friend who is a vegetarian, with lots of choice. Portion size was good and service unhurried and professional. Will definitely be returning when in Chester again.

Simply wonderful! We called in on the off chance of a table for 4 on a Saturday night and we were cheerfully accommodated. It was busy and had an hour and a half before the table was next needed. The staff are so lovely, smiley and nothing is too much trouble. Food was tasty (peshwari nan enough for 2 persons, it's to die for!) The mango and ice-cream Sundae was beautiful, really refreshing (i'd rather have not shared it though!) Overall, really good value for money, plenty of choice and excellent service in clean surroundings. This is our second visit and we will be back.

We were a walk-in to this restaurant requiring a table for 4 people. Made most welcome despite being busy. If I could give 6 stars I would. Service and food were exceptional. The pershwari naan bread was superb. All four meals were delicious. The desert with coconut ice-cream was light and a refreshing way to finish our experience at Koconut Grove.

We had a really lovely meal here. The decor is modern and bright. The menu offers a range of South Indian Cuisine and some dishes we hadn’t tried before. Service was friendly and attentive. All the waiters were lovely. We had onion bajis to start which were delicious. We had to leave some as it was a very generous portion. For mains I had Mangalore Chicken which was delicious I asked for medium spice and it had a good level of heat. My husband had Chettinad Lamb. Both dishes were again generous in size with unique flavours. We shared a pilau rice and a plan naan bread. Couldn’t fault anything about our experience and would definitely return.

Lovely time out for a student/ staff department dinner from the uni. The servers were so good at accommodating all 16 of us and food was really lovely. Had a chicken tikka masala with pilau rice and garlic naan! (Although naan was a bit on the thin side). Food was warm and staff always checked everybody for drink top ups regularly. Lovely atmosphere and decoration in there as well as nice bars nearby. Definitely recommend.

Entering with high expectations as a solo business traveller, I found myself stuck behind a pillar where no one could see me. Not too bad when you’re travelling alone but it also means you become invisible to the staff. Having ordered some water at the same time as my food, it failed to appear despite a number of attempts to ‘catch the eye’ of the staff when they served the only other table down my end of the restaurant. As I took my last mouthful of food I was asked if the food was ok. The food was more than ok but it doesn’t encourage solo travellers to visit tbh if you’re going to be ignored, hence the average rating. Even the family on the table near me struggled to get water, waving their arms in the air to get attention, something the pillar obscured where I was sat.

This is a large and modern Keralan style restaurant in the city centre. It was very busy on a Saturday night so booking definitely recommended. We found the menu choices interesting and different which made for a more exciting meal. In particular a much wider range of breads, dosas and rices was refreshing. We really enjoyed our differing keralan fish and prawn curries although I found the sambar vada starter a little stodgy. Refreshingly different and well worth a visit.

Had a very poor experience at koconut grove this evening. In short, food was average and cold as was the welcome and the service was below standard. Booked a table for a party of 4 with a baby to celebrate a birthday. Called the restaurant to inform we were going to be 30mins late. Got told over the phone that this was ok but we have the table until a set time which was fine by us. Upon reaching the restaurant we got a long winded speech about them being busy, we have to leave by the set time, ordering and preparing food takes a lot of time. At this point my husband and his friends were ready to leave but we were ushered to our seats. Our food was served to the table next to us. Instead of the food being sent back to the kitchen we were served the same plates that were offered to the guests at the other table! I think i would have been happier if we had lost the booking instead of having such a poor experience for a birthday celebration. No consideration at all as well given that there was a baby with us. Owners please do better. Needless to say we won’t be back.

Coconut Grove: A Culinary Disappointment Coconut Grove was a disappointing dining experience. The popedom pickle tray was a flavorless fiasco, with the garlic yogurt tasting more like rancid milk than a condiment. The mango chutney was a pathetic excuse for a chutney, consisting of little more than chopped mango and a splash of water. The cucumber rita was a watery disappointment, lacking any hint of flavor or refreshment. The paneer tikka was a mixed bag. While the salad was a pleasant surprise, the rest of the dish was an absolute abomination. The paneer itself was dry and flavorless, with a texture that was more reminiscent of cardboard than a creamy cheese. The butter tikka was an absolute abomination, tasting like something that had been sitting in the fridge for weeks. It was devoid of flavor, seasoning, or any semblance of a curry. The chips were a greasy mess, tasting like they had been cooked in old motor oil. The cheese naan was a rubbery anaemic disaster, with a texture that was more reminiscent of a car tire than a bread. The only redeeming feature of Coconut Grove was the pint of Cobra, which offered a much-needed respite from the culinary atrocities. Overall, Coconut Grove was a disappointing experience, with food that was far below average. I would advise anyone considering eating here to think twice.

Had a brilliant evening. Waiters were all welcoming, polite and respectful. Though seating is a little tight it's okay and when busy, the waiters can be difficult to speak with - they may need a bit more help - maybe an extra member of waiting staff for busy periods. The food we had was the lentil soup and the tomato soup with bread to begin - this was lovely and delicious and hot - a great choice. Then we had malai kofta which when served looked literally like weetabix poured on top of fried onion baajis but tasted amazing! It was delicious with beautiful naan and tandoori roti. Then for desert we had the chocoloate fudge cake slightly warm with ice cream and this was fantastic. To have all three courses at this standard has never happened to us before and this restaurant is a gem. The staff are lovely and the food is wonderful. Pricing is reasonable too. This large South-Indian Restaurant sits incongruously in a modern building adjacent to a hotel – inside it’s bright and modern. Found this place via a recommendation from a colleague who linked to Jay Rayner’s review of 2018 – as we were staying nearby this was a perfect time to give this place a try. Booking online was easy, although unnecessary on a Monday evening it turned out, and we were seated immediately upon arrival. The beer was both Cobra and Kingfisher – the duo reunited – this was good to see, for we all like a choice. The menu features some classics but also a number of specialty dishes unique to the region – to start, I had to try one fo the famous Dosas. These are like a giant crispy pancake, rolled up and filled with your choice from the menu. Mine was full of lamb. The dosa was huge, what a treat of a starter – about 18 inches long and with a hefty whack of lamb in the middle. Beautiful flavours; absolutely terrific. A small tray of chutneys on the side – coconut, chilli and spicy vegetable, I think. I greatly enjoyed my Dosa and , despite the size, I found this to be a perfect starter. They are clearly popular here – it seemed everyone was eating them. For the main, a chicken Manchurian – deep fried chicken bites in a spicy sauce (can be served dry, wet or in-between) – this was a dish full of flavour and with a good level of spice. This was accompanied by a thin and fresh garlic naan. Thin and Fresh. Oh yes. No room for pudding, but I noticed there was Gulub Jamun. Yum. The reviews about this place a definitely right – really good food which offers something bit different to the usual. Full of flavour and lots of choice. I would eat here again if I’m back in Chester at any point. Very convenient if you’re staying at the Hotel Indigo. The ‘K’ on the sign looks like a ‘C’ with a palm tree next to it – this is confusing. It is definitely a ‘K’ though.

What a discovery this place is! The food is so real it feels like you've just stepped off a plane and into the heart of India. I began with a warm and cosy dosa that was served with rich and flavorful sambar. The dosa was delightfully crispy. It was flawlessly done! I dove into the fish curry for my main meal with some rice and porota. The fish was cooked to perfection. I had never tasted a fish curry like this one before. I also treated myself to a creamy mango lassi, which is a delicious concoction of sweet mango and tangy yoghurt, as a sweet finish. It was the ideal way to cap off an amazing dinner. Plus, the service was excellent. The waiters were polite and informed; they carefully explained the various dishes and made suggestions depending on our tastes. This is the place to go if you want to have a real Indian meal that goes beyond the usual butter chicken and naan. You must try the dosa and sambar, and the fish curry and porota is like nothing you've ever tasted.

31/ 05/2024 Yet another experience with being fooled by the reviews. My friend and I went to the restaurant seeing all the reviews hoping to have some good Indian food. We ordered biryani which was quite expensive( over 13 pounds) , for the amount they served. It was not even sufficient for one person. It was not at all spicy despite having ordered for a spicy one, and had absolutely null flavour. Chicken 65 was ok, to be fair. Kerala porotta was ok too, and was a portion of 1 for around 4 pounds. Just nothing special or even mentionable at the place and the staff were quite unwelcoming. The order took almost 1 hour for serving, only to get cold and dry food. The staff are also biased to looks and colour, if you know you know. This is seemingly yet an other restaurant hyped as Indian restaurant which accomodate British people who love Indian food, by adjusting to flavours to suit them. The place was full of British people, and some random Indians. Just expensive; less quantity, quality and flavour for the food . I would not recommend the place to Indians who know how Indian food actually tastes like. 04/06/2024 Now I have something else to add on to this comment , aftet having seen the reply comment from the hotel. The reply comment is either a mistake, or a planned shrewd cooked up one. It is pathetic that either they do such fraudulent tricks to deceive people more, or are irresponsible and reckless as to reply in such silly manner. Their mentions are all wrong. I went in with one friend; I never booked a table; I did not have any leftovers to get it packed, and the scenario in the reply comment is not mine at all. The experience mentioned is genuine, and each word is truth. The hotel excels in deception, if not in food delivery. Kudos!!!!!

Top quality South Indian food. Full of flavour and the portions were very good too. We asked what the waiter recommended and he did not disappoint. Chicken 65, Hyderabad lamb and the lamb chettinad all very good.

Friendly and accommodating staff BUT that’s about the only good thing about it. The place is modern and clean and once we had read the menu we realised this was not a traditional Indian restaurant. But that’s fine we are willing to go with the flow. Poppadoms and pickles first. As normal 3 pickles mango, mint yoghurt and rathia which was really spicy/hot. Starter lamb kebab again red hot/spicy and onion bahjees which were drizzled with a sweet Thai chilli sauce????? Main was a chicken curry for partner which we asked mild as everything had been on fire so far and it was vile, bland and nothing in it no onions peppers nothing. Chilli chicken which I like heat but this was off the scale and again just floating in a sticky sweet chilli sauce. Found the whole thing bizarre and confusing. Now if everything had been nice it wouldn’t have mattered the infusion of is it Indian is it Chinese but it’s was all quite inedible. I’m writing this as we had looked at reviews on trip advisor and was lead to believe it was a 4.5/5 well it’s not. It’s a push at 2.

We had a brilliant meal here, everything was cooked to perfection and you could tell it was all fresh ingredients, we both really enjoyed our curries. The peshwari naan was genuinely the best I’ve ever tasted! Service was friendly and efficient too. We’d definitely come back if we are ever back in Chester.

The menu is not your usual 'Indian'. Some interesting items Food was decent: tasty and mostly not too hot. Quite pricey It was busy when we visited : hugely popular. Poor customer management esp re access to tables. Had they over-booked? Would happily return

Went there for a meal with the family last night. John and the team were so attentive. Food is great, just to the heat I like. Well worth a visit. We will be going back

We went to the restaurant on Sunday evening whilst staying in the village! We decided to try some new dishes with the expert advice from the wait. I had the Kathmandu curry, which was incredible. Reasonably priced as well. The waiter was very knowledgeable. The service was excellent and the food Was amazing. We would definitely return when we are in the area next time. Thank you for a lovely experience.

Great Food ..service was a little slow .. the takeaways seemed to be flying out the kitchen..I believe a restaurant should prioritize the punters that have bothered to make the journey!! The tables are far too small for 4 people..I would increase the table size slightly. But overall a Good curry was had by All.
