I had a fantastic meal here. The cauliflower kotthu was absolutely delicious. It was so good I came back to have it again the next day.

They serve kinda elevated sri lankan food. The meats were all cooked well, tender and not V spiced hopper was quite decent. Kothu was disappointing, the prata was too doughy and it's a little sour which was not very pleasant. Sauce was also V bland

I had chicken kottu, and it was absolutely delicious. The kottu was served with a sauce poured around it, something I haven’t even seen in Sri Lanka. This ensured the kottu soaked up the sauce before reaching your mouth. A must-try!

The pork hopper was spicy and delicious!

I waited half an hour for food that was tasteless and the chef was really rude. I will not return here.

I don't do reviews as a rule but these guys deserve a shout out. We discovered them last year when visiting Edinburgh for couple of days. We shared a chicken kottu. It was so nice that we went back the following day and had one each. We're back in Edinburgh this weekend and headed straight there for a chicken and a black pork kottu. Still fabulous, It's the fried egg that makes this in my opinion and it's advertised as an extra so don't forget to order it! There's a good kick of heat in this dish but the chilli isn't overpowering. There's proper depth of flavour here. And these guys are really friendly so I'm more than happy to big them up. They haven't seen the last of us.

The food was absolutely amazing, perfectly spiced and incredible flavours, I’ll definitely be returning! The staff were really friendly and gave me a few recommendations and I’m glad I listened to them.

Nice food with a very tasty black pork curry.

Absolutely wonderful food. So authentic - tastes just like it is does in Sri Lanka. I had godumba rotibwith seeni symbol, pol symbol and tatties. Absolutely delicious..My only complaint is the plate on which it was served was too small to eat it comfortably without making a mess. Some more veggie options would be great too but overall I loved it and will definitely be back!

Excellent food , noticed the counter while looking for some dinner and found the food well presented , never tried Sri Lankan food before but took the opportunity, I was not let down their selection of food I opted for was delicious ...well worth it and glad I opted to try

Very good. I found it a little expensive for what it is. The service cannot be rated because it is at the counter like all the stands. I say it again, the flavors are there, I recommend.

I'm no expert on Sri Lankan food, but this food was AMAZING! More so considering it's being cooked/prepared from a small kitchen in a food court. I'm not local, and it's a shame they don't have more restaurants, but will definately visit next time I'm in Edinburgh

I had never tried Sri Lankan food so after seeing the reviews and decided to give it a go. I had pork kotthu with egg and chilli. The chilli was really hot but I liked it. I was warned though. The food was tasty and pork was delicious. The only thing I would say is to have more curry. The dish was quite dry. I would have finished if there was a bit more curry sauce. Overall good though.

Delicious Sri Lankan streetfood u may rarely find that good even in Sri Lanka. Service is friendly, warm and welcoming. Go, get a feel of true Sri Lankan hospitality.

The food was delicious, very delicious. It would have been 5* if the dish had a little more chicken. That said I will be back to eat again.

Excellent Sri-Lankan street food, we ate here as a family in Bonnie and Wild and had 3 excellent dishes, the hoppers and kottu were stand out but everything is excellent. Well done guys keep up the good work!

The best Sri Lankan Koththu I have ever tried in the entire UK, to be honest I’ve never tried a Koththu like this even in Sri Lanka. Very friendly professional staff. Would highly recommend to anyone.

absolutely delicious food, authentic, flavourful and easily the best stall in the area. the friendliest staff in juxtaposition to the snobbish behaviour of others i visited, food was cooked quickly and dished out instantly, and the cheese roti with mango sauce in particular was a star star dish :). would definitely come again!! worth the money entirely!!

The Bonnie and Wild Foodhall invites you to explore and the Kochchi Restaurant with street food from Sri Lanka is a real discovery. The young team is very friendly and explains the dishes. Everything is freshly prepared on site. We had Chees & Onion Melts to share and then Veg Kotthu, both excellent in taste and spice. There are many more dishes to discover, but unfortunately our time in Edinburgh is over.

Overall, Good stuff. The hopper(appam) in itself could be improved in terms of its consistency (felt it was a bit hard) - this is coming from a Keralite. But I’d definitely come back again.

What an excellent SriLankan niche in the middle of nowhere! Loved the black pork Koththu so much that it was literally better than what you would have in SriLanka. Reasonable price and quick service despite it being a busy Saturday afternoon when we visited.

I didn't know what to expect when I placed my order but what I got was absolutely delish!! I ordered the black pork and it was cooked so well the pork melted like chicken thighs ❤️ The staff were beyond friendly and we didn't need to wait long for our freshly made food. I've already told other friends that we need to eat here 😂😂

Was very excited to try this and but I felt like the kotthu I had was lacking in flavour and was quite plain. I’m glad I got the egg otherwise it genuinely would’ve been like eating plain stir-fried cabbage — for £12. Service was great though and my friend really enjoyed her hopper. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options 👍🏻

This restaurant’s Sri Lankan cuisine lacks the distinctive Sri Lankan flavors I crave. It comes across as bland and fails to captivate my palate. As a person who lived in Sri Lanka for many years I do not recommend this restaurant

I ordered the Black pork Hopper (gf). I have a difficulty with food allergens, but I had no issues with my dish. The food tasted AMAZING! Such great flavours. I’d come here again :D

I was in the food court and fancied to try something very new for myself to try, I bought the chicken kotthu, it was was one of the most delicious dishes I’ve ever had in my entire life! The flavours complimented each other so well! The service was amazing and the food tastes super fresh. Definitely will be back as soon as possible.

The Best. One of the best flavours in the menu. Being an Indian I was sceptical at first. But hand on heart the pork Kothu dish was tastier than many Indian restaurants in Edinburgh. I will be going back for more.

I visit Edinburgh about once every year because of family, and I always stop by Kochchi at Bonnie & Wild for a meal. My first Sri Lankan meal was the Black Pork Kotthu at Kochchi, and I’ve come back for it every year since. The ultimate comfort food - delicious and very filling.

Been here a few times for their Chicken Kottu and their hoppers. It’s not exactly what I remember of authentic Sri Lankan flavours but it’s probably the closest you’ll get in Edinburgh. The kottu is flavourful and the hopper is crunchy with delicious fillings 🤤 wish they do string hoppers because I miss having them!

Next time you’re visiting the Edinburgh food market ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ at the St James Quarter, be sure to try Kochchi, you will not be disappointed. This place stands out from all as the food at Kochchi made our souls happy. We only tried the chicken and the black pork hoppers because we were in a rush but those dishes alone made us so happy, filled and content. Delicious, so much variety of flavours, textures, spices…portions were very good and overall such a great experience. Really wish the team all the best, definitely will be back to try even more next time!

I have been craving for some authentic Sri Lankan food for a long time, and I was not disappointed by this place Kochchi Edinburgh. The koththu was the best I ever had, with a perfect balance of spices, herbs, and vegetables. The Koththu was fluffy and fragrant, and the everything was rich and flavorful. It felt like I was back in Sri Lanka, surrounded by the aroma and taste of my childhood memories. The service was friendly and attentive, and the portions were generous. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves Sri Lankan cuisine. If you love Sri Lanka, you will love Kochchi Edinburgh too... 😊👌

Service was great but the Kotthu dish was just insanely spicy. I could barely manage to eat half of it. Such an unpleasant experience. I am ok with spicy food but this was not advertised as being really spicy and was definitely at the 3-4 chillies spicy end of the scale. This should be made more obvious when ordering. I felt unwell after it was that hot.

The absolute stand out at Bonnie & Wild, and more than deserving of its Street Food Awards accolades. To the extent you'd have to question how long it will be before the team break free of their upmarket food court surroundings and set up a permanent Edinburgh branch elsewhere in the city. The Kotthu (shredded roti and vegetables drenched in curry sauce and accompanied by a meat of your choice) is the kind of dish you leave resolving to make at home but never attempted because you'd never do it half as well. Just delicious. And the hoppers are no second fiddle, proving equally full of flavour and expertly prepared. Get down here before the rest of the world catches on and KOCHICHI spreads its wings.

Honestly one of my favourite places to eat in Edinburgh. Kochchi is unlike anywhere else, the flavours are just amazing. Personally I am a fan of spicy food but don’t let that put you off. The food is so flavorful and tasty and the presentation is just wonderful. The cheese roti melts & lanklan tatties are super delicious sides! Don’t visit St James Quarter, without visiting Kochchi.

The portion I had wasn’t same as I ordered. The pork koththu dish was not enough salt & wasn’t spicy as I requested as hot. The Gravy was not delicious & the pork curry also was without salt. I’m not recommend for any one. Further chefs are not fare enough of food safety. it’s not a place to eat.please don’t try this.

Totally unacceptable taste.The place was full of lots of different kinds of street foods. We were try our traditional food koththu. Totally unacceptable taste. We pre ordered personally make it spicy with salty. Disappointed. Cannot recommend for any person.

Kochchi resturant is not a place that we could recommend for anyone. We ordered kottu and specifically we mentioned about spicy, but It was not nice at all. No spicy , not enough salts and no presentation of food. Chefs are not looks like good, No hair nets worn. So Its totally disappointed the meals.

We’re huge fans of Sri Lankan food & this place didn’t disappoint! Everything lived up to our usual places quality & we really enjoyed the flavours. We had the veg Kottu with egg & it was brilliant, just the right side of spicy with tones of flavour. The only downside is that it’s quite expensive (£10 more than we usually pay per dish) but you do receive a good sized portion which makes up for it a little bit. I’d 100% come back if we were in Edinburgh again.
