Third visit to Knapps and each time have been very impressed with both the quality of the food and friendliness of the staff. Live locally and just popped in last night for dinner at the last minute. Must be the best burgers in East Anglia and sourced locally as well which is even better!

I just have to say that last night we went to Knapps as a party of 12 for a friend's birthday and what a brilliant night! Food was amazing and such generous portions and as for our lovely waitresses they were just brilliant running up and downstairs for us all! Massive apologies for the noise we must have made, but great time was had by all. My Husband loved the Jonny B, and pickles I enjoyed the Classic, Chicken Wings and Pork Belly was all just so so tasty! Highly recommended, looking forward to returning soon.

Our first visit to new a Gourmet Burger Saturday, we are not burger eaters but Luke’s Johnny Bee is absolutely delicious, so meaty and tasty with sweet potato fries and salad. Made with beef from local butcher. So much to choose from and vegetarian option too. All the girls are so friendly, service excellent and a very relaxing atmosphere. We will definitely be going back for another burger. I hardly ever recommend a return visit to pubs and restaurants.

Wow ! this is a lovely little place, just popped in for a "posh" burger and received so much more. Had the prawns in a garlic & butter sauce to begin and they were cooked so well and delish, onto the chilli boy and this was served with a choice of sweet or norm chipped pots and a sauce too, there were deserts to choose too if you could fit it in, the knickerbocker glory looked a challenge ! all the food was lovely and cooked so well , all washed down with a couple of beers . the place has a lovely happy feeling about it and my waitress Jodie could not have been more helpful or polite, I will be returning soon.

Quite by chance we came upon this little bistro cafe in Needham Market after a family morning out. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, and accommodating even though it was at the end of the lunch session and there were 8 of us to seat. We were seated upstairs, which although a little climb and probably not suitable to the less mobile, was a lovely cosy area. We all enjoyed a varied choice from the menu which was bought to us (up the stairs) with speed and a smile and was most affordable for what we had. Thank you to all the staff, for a lovely experience - it makes such a change to be treated so well and certainly formed part of a lovely day. I shall return to this little gem whenever i am in the area.

We were a party of 2 adults carrying 9mth old twins and 1 adult with a 2 and a 4 yr old. We popped in for tea and cake after a walk around Needham Lake. It's only a small place and we were concerned at first that there may not be enough space for us, but the staff were really helpful, getting high chairs for us and giving us enough time to get children settled etc before coming to take our order. We got a selection of cakes picked from the counter and a cream tea, plus a snack plate of pate and toast. The cakes came in big slices, the scone was large, as was the dish of cream for it that could easily have served 2 people.. I can only describe the pate portion as a brick, not the skinny slice you tend to get in restaurants, with ample toast. We were visiting friends in the area and will definitely come back here next time we're down seeing them.

We called in here last night as we approached home after a long journey. We live locally but had not been before, but I am now not sure why! The menu is small but inventive, with enough variety to suit anyone, the service was prompt and friendly, the food was great, the plates generous, and the value excellent. And the old building is lovely.

Myself and 14 members of my family came here for a special birthday, the staff were lovely and let us decorate the whole of the downstairs and anything we asked was no trouble! The food was simply stunning cannot fault it at all and everything we had was a very reasonable price on discussion of the price I would even pay more for the quality and quantity that you get. Can't recommend Knapps Bistro enough ☺ definitely worth a visit!

We went today to Knapps Bistro, following recommendations here on Trip Advisor, and they were well deserved. We reserved a table but arrived early, fortunately our table was ready and we were dealt with by friendly and attentive staff. We chose the Sunday Roast menu but there were plenty of other choices, for those wanting a lighter bite, and I saw many gorgeous "All Day Breakfasts", being served. Our meals were served promptly and were hot and perfectly cooked, it is so nice to have vegetables that are not "soggy" the desserts were "divine" and even my husband was won over, he is hard to please being an excellent amateur chef himself. Highly recommend, we will definitely be back

found this little Bistro while looking for somewhere to eat. lovely little place . my wife and myself decided to have starters . I had prawns with garlic sauce, thinking that I'd have a bowl of prawns already peeled, to my surprise out came a bowl with enormous prawns where I had to peel them apart! my wife couldn't stop laughing at the mess I was making. they tasted gorgeous. we both decided to have the cod in batter with pea puree. another delissiuos feast. I highly recommend this place. certainly go back again.

We went for Dinner. the food was very nice. the starters were very good. In our group we had Mushroom Soup, King Prawns and two of us had the "Waiting to be Served" as a started, this was fresh bread, 3 sorts, Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar dip and Garlic Mayo dip, gorgeous. The Main course was quite nice, though the chips I had were rather well cooked, but the Eton Mess I had to finish was the best I have ever tasted. It was rather a small menu, with only one thing on it that I liked Cod and Chips, but that's just me. I likes the Bottle of Water that is put on the table when you arrive. The staff are friendly and helpful with the menu, in fact we were told that our Waiting to be Served would be enough for two, how right they were, it was massive. I would recommend it and I would go back again.

This is our 3rd visit to Knapps, and the food was, as always, very good. My last review suggested an improved vegetarian option, as previously there had been only one - the same one for our September and the following February visits. This time there were 2 more options on the specials board as well. My husband had the prawn cocktail and fishcakes, which he said were both lovely. I had the bruschetta and the stilton, mushroom and onion suet pudding. After a slightly complicated conversation we were assured that it was vegetarian suet in the pudding! My choices were delicious too. Only fault with the food - portions too big. My husband would have liked one of the lovely desserts, but was too full and I had to leave some of both my courses. The staff are wonderful but the little restaurant was very hot - soon remedied by opening the door to let what little cool air that was outside, in. We had a lovely stroll around the lake after our meal to round off a very pleasant evening. One criticism - please do something about the flies, they nearly spoiled the meal.

The rest had other on the menu, again the comments were excellent. We could not manage a pudding but most had sticky toffee , apparently to die for ............ This was our second visit on a Tuesday for their 2 meals for 12.00 and it would be churlish to find fault as the food was very good and the service excellent. My disappointment was that the vegetarian option was the same as the last time we went in September. We will go again and sample the normal menu as this is a charming little Bistro and if the vegetarian options improve, will become a regular for us. Do give it a go as it is friendly, reasonably priced and the food if not exceptional, is very good indeed - and there is ample free parking in the area.

My husband and I went for lunch on Sunday for the first time. The other members of our party had been there numerous times so we were expecting a good lunch. Firstly the venue is really quaint and Luke and his staff really welcoming and polite. The loos were clean (which I take as a very old sign!!) now onto the food. Well what can I say. My starter of asparagus and Brie cheesecake was beautiful. It was served hot which was great. I could have eaten it all over agin. My husband had the classic prawn cocktail which came with an abundance of prawns in seafood sauce. He was very impressed. Mains were a choice of Turkey, beef and lamb with all the trimmings and much much more (also veggie option available) there were loads of fresh vegetables, yorkshires, roast and new potatoes served with lashings of gravy. It was fabulous and my mouth is watering as I write!! Even though we were full we all had to squeeze in a pud. My Creme Brûlée salted caramel cheesecake was divine and the autumn fruit crumble my husband had was lovely. Overall a fantastic Sunday lunch and for £10.95 for 3 courses was outstanding value for money (1 and 2 courses also available) we will definitely be going back and totally understand why our friends now go every week!! Phone and book a table you won't regret it :)

We had the 2 mains for £12 on a Tuesday evening. It was very hot but a cool breeze came in through the open door. It is a small room downstairs, and there was a noisy "girly" meal going on which, with the heat, rather spoiled the atmosphere. However, the food was perfect and despite nearly everyone (6 of us) saying we wouldn't manage a pudding, they all sounded so appetising, 5 of us had one. There was a good choice of drinks and the staff were lovely. Apart from the heat and noise (which is not a constant) my only disappointment was the lack of choice of vegetarian meals. This is mistake nowadays, when vegetarians are more than an oddity to be paid lip service to. I haven't tried the day time cafe but the cakes and meals on offer all looked very delicious.

However, we walked past on the Friday and discovered it was open; we were welcomed and the service was very attentive. The food was delicious and was really good value for money. We liked the atmosphere and were pleasantly surprised when we got the bill. The little extras too, such as the delicious homemade garlic mayonnaise that accompanied the bread and the truffles presented with the coffee (a generous cafetiere) all made for a delightful meal. We'd recommend "Knapps Bistro" but would point out that you need to come with cash or cheque as credit cards are at present not accepted. We wish Knapps every success...it is deserved!

I had heard a lot of good reports about Knapps, but wondered what a cafe turned into a bistro at nights would turn out like.A warm welcome at the door with water and bread soon arriving was a good start. We went for the £39 two course meal for two that included a bottle of wine of your choice from a good wine list and coffee. Our starters were all good, and the main meals apart from the sea food lasagne( which was very tasty) served on a cold plate that cooled the meal.We all had the blueberry and rasberry pancakes for sweet and voted it the best sweet for a long time. All in all a good value night out, with the place full it gave it a good atmosphere .I will certainly visit again, and i wish them well in this tough economic climate

My partner and I went along to Knapp's expecting good things (going by the positive reviews) and we weren't disappointed. Although the menu is not huge in this instance I would call that a plus as it is obvious that the chef can concentrate on producing a few excellent dishes. The food was well up to scratch and for the price you are paying, you are laughing. To illustrate: we paid 40 pounds for two mains (stuffed chicken breast with rosti potato), two desserts (sweet potato pie & ice cream and Eton mess), a bottle of wine and tea/coffee. They even threw in some homemade truffles with the tea and coffee. The staff (owners? Not sure, should've asked!) were very friendly and welcoming, which helped to detract from the unfortunate lack of atmosphere, which I would put down to how quiet the place is. This can hardly be blamed on the restaurant. If word of mouth spreads (and perhaps with the help of some advertising) then Knapp's will fully deserve the success it gets, it is well worth a visit - and tell your friends! We will definitely be going back.

Visited on a Friday night with a friend after seeing good comments on their Facebook page, and seeing the menu posted on there for a few weeks. They hadn't posted the menu the week we went (I did question via Facebook and they did let me know they had been away and not had chance) but as the food up to this point had sounded great we didn't hesitate in going. Although it seems to change weekly at the moment, they did mention whilst we were there that they were thinking of changing to a monthly cycle for menus, but I doubt you would go every week so not an issue (and there were at least two things I could have chosen anyway). On arriving at 7.30pm we were the only people there, which felt a little uncomfortable given the nature of the place...a small tea room with a handful of tables. However, we were made to feel welcome with a bottle of water brought immediately to the table and bread and aoili served. We opted for the two courses with wine and coffee for £39.95 for two - a really good deal. There were various wines offered to us and we chose a Pinot Grigio Blush. Skipping starters, we both chose the Italian-style stuffed chicken and then the cherry creme brulee and date tart with orange ice cream for dessert. The food was really lovely and very filling, nice in a 'fancy dinner party' way rather than high class trendy fine dining but it suited the atmosphere. The coffee is good and the (presumably housemade) truffles really great! Two other couples arrived whilst we were there and this helped the atmosphere, and they were both obviously regulars. Service was attentive throughout.Looking forward to visiting again, particularly on the speciality nights.

By day the premises is E & V's tea roomsThe property is owned by a local retired property developer and landlord. He discovered one of his tenants, a talented chef, had been made redundant. From this he made the leap of faith to start Knapps - to use his tenants skills - and keep his tenant in work. The outcome is a fantastic, yet compact, menu. The food is full of flavour. Subtle undertones to enhance. My wife and I could fault anything in what we ate.Curently they are running at 60% full 4 weeks ahead - so booking is advised.Service is friendly & attentive - but not intrusive.

We used to enjoy our outings to the Gladstone, but it has turned into a dirty, smelly and "clicky" place to eat or drink! Instead of being dog friendly it is more like a dog kennel - dogs annoy non-dog owners by licking them etc and sitting on the seating instead of under the tables. The seats and tables are dirty and the whole place is unhygienic - we will not return and will leave it to the arrogant dog owners who think everybody wants to be licked and dribbled on by their pets!
