What an amazing experience. From talking to Roy on the phone and making the reservation, this was perfection from start to finish. Met Roy, Justin, Alaisha, Bobby and Oli. They are so friendly and attentive and great ambassadors for the company. Food was superb and the menu caters for all tastes. Wonderful location with a relaxing atmosphere. This is a must visit restaurant when in the area. Will be back for sure.

Just had a wonderful meal - Thursday Supper Club, set menu. Food was delicious and presentation was perfect. Staff were very attentive and we will return. 10/10.

Popped into this establishment by chance as we were looking for somewhere for a late lunch and it was close by. Very pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious and the menu choice was fantastic with lots of innovative and exciting meals. Would highly recommend this gastro pub if you are in the area and looking for good quality food.

I would thoroughly recommend dining at the Kirkmichael Arms. The food is outstanding and presented beautifully. Special mention to the home cured corned beef, it was a revelation!

As a solo traveller and diner I found the staff and service in the restaurant very good. Thoughtful gestures like providing reading material for a lone diner was much appreciated. Some effort to cut through any formalities was worth it conversationally. I had the duck and a pint of 0.5% West Nix beer on draught. The beer was decent to my taste and it is nice to see low alcohol beers making into draught form now. The duck breast was served pink right through, and not knowing anything about cooking duck and given the quality of the establishment, I trusted the situation; I was not given any choice e.g. like you are with steak. Reading up on it afterwards it seems this is a not uncommon practice, but interestingly the food standards agency recommends against it for predictable reasons. I can't really say any more about that except to make sure you are comfortable with and armed with knowledge about any risks you might perceive associated with eating duck served pink. The meal was very tasty and I enjoyed it during consumption.

Fantastic food and service in friendly surroundings. Out with friends and we were blown away with the choice as well as the locally sourced produce. This restaurant has a real passion for the ingredients and it cooking methods. The salmon crisps and in-house smoked salmon stole the show for me. I cannot recommend this place enough!

What a find! This restaurant is a gem. We only chanced upon it, as we were staying at Cloncaird Castle close by. We googled restaurants nearby and Kirkmichael Arms was the closest. If we had only known how amazing the meal would be, we would have booked both nights of our stay. We cannot say enough about the quality of the food. It was outstanding. As good as any 5* restaurant. We ordered their bread, which was accompanied by a generous portion of their homemade whipped smoked butter (they need to sell this to takeaway! ) and some gorgeous thick humous. For our mains, we had the lamb and the duck. Both were outstanding. The presentation was superb and the taste was sublime. Thank you to Chef Justin and our host Roy. You have an amazing restaurant. We can't wait to come back. If you have the chance, make sure to book a table. You will NOT be disappointed.

Restaurant is nice, ambience good and quick service. The lass who served was very friendly and the menu looked very nice if rather expensive for our pockets. The reason I cannot give a higher rating is that unfirtunately the burgers I chose were so very salty that I could not eat all of mine. Husband did a valiant job but he also said far too much salt. If I had chosen differently, I presume this would have been a much better experience.

We had been looking forward to trying the “new kirkmicheal arms” for sometime, after frequently enjoying the restaurant and bar when ran by previous owners. The specials menu always looked delicious and we enjoy locally sourced produce and a good cocktail. For starters we had the scallops and the scotch egg, both really tasty and cooked well. For Mains we had a fillet steak cooked medium/rare like we asked and the sirloin of beef with mushrooms and miso sauce from the specials menu. These were both delicious too but the toppings on top of the sirloin were very over powering and salty. I did leave some of this and ate the steak. The food is a bit pricey but we are happy to pay for fresh, local, well cooked food. One thing we were very disappointed and shocked with was the price of the cocktail. I had a strawberry cosmo in the smallest glass and was charged £12 for it. We didn’t notice this until after we had paid and left and assumed it was a mistake, as it really was the smallest cocktail I have ever had. (Photo included) There was no prices for these shown in the restaurant but have since seen others being served at this price point, so it was no mistake. Way too high for the amount of drink and the area. For that reason I would not return to the bar, even with it being close to us.

Kirkmichael Arms was an outstanding surprise. After a morning touring Culzean Castle and the Ayrshire coast, we turned inland and found the Kirkmichael Arms, where we had an excellent meal. Service was friendly and attentive, the menu (drinks and food) was enticing, and the food exceeded all expectations. (My wife had the pie, which was delicious, and I had the ravioli, which I loved). Highly recommended!

Faultless in every aspect of a modern pub / restaurant, and stands out locally by miles. Firstly a lovely bar with friendly locals, and Andy looking after everyone, and making amazing cocktails, and trust me my wife knows her cocktails 😀😀 The restaurant offers food from a wonderful homemade pie or fish & chips, to stunning wonderful Michelin standard dishes. The service is fantastic, and the owners make everyone welcome. It really was a joy to spend 3 evenings here while on holiday, and if you are in the area, simply do not miss out on a visit here. It's not every day you find a culinary gem nestled in a wee village off the beaten track in South Ayrshire. From the moment we stepped through the door of the KirkmichaelArms, we were greeted with warm hospitality and an inviting ambiance that sets the stage for what was to prove an unforgettable dining experience. The menu made it difficult to chose with a mixture of classic comfort food and the creative specials on the board, so certainly has something for every palate. The standout dish had to be one of the starter specials, Crisy Sushi Steak Tartar, a masterpiece that perfectly balanced flavors and delicate textures. Every bite was a symphony of taste sensations that left you craving for more. Also they smoke their own salmon and butter, bake their own bread and makectheir own country pot pies. All produce is locally sourced. So really for a village gastro pub, it definitely raises the bar. The staff maded us feel like valued guests without being over attentive or too formal, so the atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly. Certainly our experience of the Kirkmichael Arms was memorable and exceeded our expectations on every level. Will definitely be back for more.

We had been at Culzean Castle yesterday and were looking for somewhere to have dinner on the way home and we decided to go here. We were a party of 5 children aged between 3 and 12 and myself and my husband. My children are autistic and I cannot rate the food and service here highly enough. I had quite a few requests I had to make in order to cater to my youngest two and the lovely girl who was serving us as well as the very charming gentleman (who I'm assuming is the owner) could not have been more helpful and kind about it. We asked for extra garlic bread, ordered a starter halfway through our meal, more crayons for the kids to use etc etc and each request was met with a smile and complete understanding. Going out for a meal, especially a "fancy" meal can be quite intimidating when you have kids who don't find social settings easy but I cannot thank them enough for making it such a pleasant experience for us. And then the food! The food was simply stunning with each item beautiful presented and the flavours beautifully balanced. The kids meals were fantastic value at just under £10 for three courses and you can just tell that every single thing has been made with great care and attention. The adults meals were also wonderful ; from the smoked butter that came with the freshly baked bread to the pate, scallops and steak tartar special we genuinely savoured every bite. I actually just wish we lived a bit closer so we could make dining here a more regular occurrence. Fabulous 😋😊

Fantastic team, incredible food about which they are far too modest and understated- every detail has been meticulously made from the home made smoked salmon with its crispy skins to the generous and nostalgic pies. Just had a fantastic 3 course meal in the Kirkmichael Arms. Hadn't been I'm since it opened back up so weren't sure what to expect. We weren't disappointed at all. It was delicious. Absolutely top quality food. 10/10! I loved it! Thanks again

We went for dinner as a family, 7 adults and 3 kids. Roy greeted us on arrival, took our coats and seated us before the waitress came and took our drinks order, we were given plenty of time to look through the menu and the specials were pointed out and explained to us. The food was exceptional as were the staff. I can’t choose a favourite dish as my starter (empanadas) main (venison) & Desert were equally brilliant, we will definitely need to return to sample more of the menu.

Someone in the kitchen knows how to cook! Steak, pheasant, vegan, a solid range in the menu. Great value for money, good service, good to see a village pub/restaurant re open.

We had a family celebration Saturday lunch here, for 20 people ( including the youngest member in a high chair). The food was excellent, as was the service. The ambience was relaxed and welcoming. A few members ( used to fine dining) had flown in from New York and London and they were bowled over by the quality and value of the meal. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend as a destination gastropub. The village and surrounding countryside are well worth making the trip to a relatively quiet part of Scotland.

Me and my wife popped in for lunch yesterday in the bar area and we were absolutely bowled over by the quality of the food, we had starters and a main each, 3 pints of lager and a bottle of wine and the bill was under £90 Staff were very friendly and we will be back soon to try more of the menu 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

Very disappointed ☹️ After having numerous fantastic family meals at the Kirkmichael Arms in recent years with previous owners . We were-delighted to hear that it had reopened recently and decided to visit . Unfortunately it was not the experience we were used to on any level. Food was ok some even good but selection was very limited and in our opinion over priced . Younger members of staff were helpful and polite although I believe may have been new to hospitality or inexperienced. However I’m sure that would change with time. Selection and quality of food and wine did not in my opinion match the description on the menu and the senior member of staff on the day we visited was not very helpful or accommodating. Really disappointed as this would have been a regular go to for family events and catch ups had our experience been at least enjoyable.

Had a lovely meal on Sunday evening for my husband's birthday. Well worth a visit. Excellent waiting staff and service. The beef and custard tart was immense.

Went for dinner after it reopened. Relaxing atmosphere, attentive but not intrusive staff. Great food - only criticism would be that portions were very generous and so only managed to sample two courses. Price - not bargain basement but have paid a lot more for a lot less elsewhere. Just back after having an early dinner after walks with dogs ( golden retrievers Autumn and Meadow) so dog friendly, food was meat plate and veggie plates. Food was so tasty and gorgeous. Service was quick and very friendly in a relaxed atmosphere. Will be back.

We had an absolutely fantastic meal here- a very quiet lunchtime service on a Friday afternoon with only one other table being served. Food was exceptional- delicious and really nicely presented. We were both blown away by the choice on the menu for a lunch service and the quality of the food when it arrived was stunning. We have paid a lot more money in local restaurants e.g. Buzzworks establishments and recieved food and service that were not a patch on this, highly recommended!!

My wife and I dined here on a Sunday afternoon. The specials board has some amazing options and it was hard to choose as every main sounded delicious. We ended up having a 3 course meal each as we just didn't want the food to stop. The pheasant pot roast that I had was outstanding. The presentation of each dish was as good as how the food tasted. Staff are pleasant and very helpful. If you are ever in Ayrshire, give this place a try.

What a gem of a place, this is my second visit to this part of Scotland and I specifically book as many meals there as I can fit in. Proper food, fresh, tastefully presented, delicious, super friendly staff and locals, a hard place to beat.. definitely worth a trip out.

Cannot fault this wee gem of a pub/restaurant. Would recommend booking as always so busy. Food is 1st class and ALWAYS piping hot when it reaches your table. Specials board changed daily, all local caught seafood or local produce, and home made desserts! Really worth the drive off the A77. The steak is always cooked to perfection and the service is fast, efficient and friendly. The Haggis Scotch egg is a favourite on the menu, and the lasagne is the BEST!

OK, my friends live locally and we dine here often, but I feel I've got to leave a review because the standard of the food and service consistently meets and exceeds our expectations.This village pub retains it's homely atmosphere and prides itself on its reputation for serving quality meals at reasonable prices. The dining room isn't pretentious, but it doesn't need to be because the welcome one receives from the proprietor and her staff makes it feel like home.There's a standard menu offering a wide selection of bar meals, all of which are of a high quality, but we always opt for the daily specials board which offers a range of locally sourced produce cooked and presented with flair and imagination. We dined there last night to celebrate my friends's partner's birthday and she chose a starter of caesar salad with pan fried scallops, hot smoked salmon and soft boiled egg, which both looked very appetizing and surpassed anything she'd had there before. My friend stuck to his favourite dish of liver and bacon with mashed potato, tomato and mushrooms whilst I opted for the locally caught pan fried cod with mussels on a bed of tender stem broccoli and sauted potato, which was delicious. We had just about enough room for a shared dessert of pavlova with ice cream and summer berry fruits, all of the above washed down with a generous glass or three (?) of white wine.We couldn't fault anything, and the service and presentation makes the Kirkmichael arms stand out from the competition. Quite simply, as my review title implies, this venue punches well above its weight for quality, service and value for money.

Went for dinner last night after reviewing the comments and pictures. Can honestly say the meal was fantastic, presentation well thought out and was a taste sensation. Small details like warm plates and flavour matching all blended to make a great meal. Went for the scotch egg wrapped in haggis as I know if done well and would be a delight and I was not disappointed, nice runny egg centre cooked to perfection. Will be back soon.

We had lasagne and chicken, both meals were very tasty, served on lovely hot plates and lovely presentation with good service. For pudding shared hot chocolate fudge cake and this was also anazing, thank you for a lovely lunch.

Excellent in every way. Warm welcome, superb range of food and service. The food was fantastic. I had prawn Marie rose salad and my husband the steak and sausage pie. All freshly prepared and delicious. This was in a different class to what is thought of as ‘pub food’. We hadn’t planned to go here and just followed the brown tourist signs. As it was lunchtime, I didn’t have dessert. My mistake as I definitely missed out there. Next time, I would go miles out of my way to revisit. Well done.

Staying a few nights locally we booked the Kirkmichael Arms for Dinner. Went into the Bar for a drink before and despite the COVID restriction that were properly in place , received a warm welcome from the host. Good choice of drinks at reasonable prices.The Resturaunt attached was also very COVID compliant, a varied set menu with an extensive ‘special ‘ menu on chalkboards ( which we were told changes daily) . Clearly specialised in local seafood but also had a wide range of other staples. We chose two fish dishes , which were excellent, as was the dessert we shared. Not cheap but good value , book beforehand as this place is popular.

Another fantastic night out at the Kirkmichael Arms. This is, without a doubt, one of the best restaurants in Ayrshire. The menu is varied and full of fresh local produce - leaning towards seafood but plenty of meat options too. The place is kept immaculately clean and all Covid measures are in place. The staff are extremely friendly and eager to please. We are very lucky to have this place on our doorstep.

We found this by chance and we were so impressed we went back 2 more times. There was a good selection of Food and we tried quite a few items on the menu, all were excellent, we may have been lucky as we went at lunch time and so they weren't very busy. Even I would recommend anybody to go there.

Me and my girlfriend tried here last night and weren’t disappointed we arrived early which wasn’t a problem the girl sorted a table out for us and as for the food it was amazing I had the trio of goats cheese for starters which was to die for then we had a couple of burgers the three cheese and the bad boy burger ( for me lol )Awesome !! Great food, Great Price and a cosy atmosphere

Ate out for dinner here. Excellent food, good service and warm welcome. Portions are generous and freshly made. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Will return again when in the area but hopefully sooner than 8 years time.

The friendly, helpful service was a great start. The meals could have been made by chef Gordon Ramsay himself, as they were so good. Our waitress was very nice too. I honestly haven’t eaten out so well, and my wife had a second, same, dessert as she enjoyed it so much. What more can I say? Highly recommended 10/10.
