Kirk View in Aberdeen City

We visited for lunch as a family of 3. We arrived quite early but were greeted warmly, and our waitress remained excellent and attentive throughout. The restaurant itself is very light, with huge windows and a nice layout making for a very pleasant atmosphere. We visited at lunch and both me and my wife ordered from this menu. For lunch one of their major offerings is a series of different "bruschetta" dishes, including several which are available Gluten free. Unfortunately the interpretation of bruschetta was not what we expected, as the bread was fried and incredibly oily. After eating my plate was covered in a film of oil which had seeped out. Toppings wise it was mixed, their black pudding and Haggis with homemade whisky sauce was lovely, but the sweet chilli chicken was weird. Rather than the traditional expected sweet chilli sauce it felt like a sweet and sour sauce had some jalapeños cut up and put through it which unfortunately was not very pleasant. Kids menu wise the sandwich and accompaniments were fine, and the colouring books provided and special child utensils were excellent and much appreciated.

We choose from the pre-theatre menu and had Shetland mussels, Balmoral Chicken and stick toffee pudding. The food was excellent and served by friendly staff. We agreed that the sauce on the mussels was the best we has ever tasted.

We had an amazing meal at the Kirkview last night. We had the two courses and a cocktail for £25 deal which was great value. The halloumi and orange salad was the best salad I had ever had, served along with sweet potato fries which were delicious. Lovely pudding and cocktail too. Keep up the great work Kirkview! 😊

My daughter and I went for dinner on Friday evening. The staff were very attentive and friendly and the service first rate. So was the food. I had the mussels and sea bass and my daughter had the goats cheese salad and sea bass too. All of it was excellent. My daughter had some cocktails and she said they were lovely. We'll be back. I never write reviews but I felt I just had to as this restaurant is a great addition to Aberdeen's restaurant scene. Highly recommended.

Had an absolutely amazing afternoon at Kitk View either my chum. Food was great, very tasty, poodins.......mmmmm yum!! Big thank you to Sarah for making sure everything was was just fab.....so much so, nothing was a problem. Booked a table for the 22nd April with my family after theatre and so looking forward to it. I would totally recommend kirk view!! Loved it. 😍

Very disappointed this evening (8/4/23). Placed order at 6pm, when asked about food at 6:40pm they hadn’t noticed our order and hadn’t commenced cooking!! Instead of 2 courses per-theatre we managed one. The poor young waiter was given no support by management, a complete shambles! Offered 50% discount from our bill after various discussions, eg we’ll only charge you for one course, we only had one course! Anyway, went there to support local but unfortunately I diy t we’ll be back until there’s some form of management.

Great afternoon lunch! Food was fabulous & the customer service was exceptional! Nothing was a trouble & big shout out to Sarah who made sure our experience was 1st class! My friend booked again for a family meal & I’ll definitely be back. I highly recommend ⭐️

Came here during the local restaurant week and had a small but enjoyable light lunch of haggis bon bons followed by a mushroom bruschetta and sweet potatoe fries, the capuccino wasnt the best ive had but it was ok , service was very good and weve already said were going to come here for an evening meal as the menu looks enticing

A nice late afternoon early dinner. Kirk view BBQ chicken melt and vegetarian burgers were very nice as were the sticky toffee and eaton mess. Our friends had risottos and no complaints there either. Friendly staff and good food, with a couple of glasses of wine.

Poor. Came for lunch and ordered the soup and baguette, we waited 25 minutes before it was served an were hugely disappointed; two half full bowls of comercial soup which was thin and tasteless, and 1/4 of a long-life baguette each, barely toasted and covered in margarine. Not worth the money. The restaurant itself was also a bit cold and lifeless, with no music or artwork. will not be coming back.

My expectations were high as everyone raved about it but as a large party I feel like the food maybe wasn't as good as it could have been. The restaurant felt empty for a Saturday night, however the staff were very accommodating and friendly.

We knew nothing about Kirk View, but were wandering around looking for food before the Cinema, thought it looked interesting and decided to go in. We were very glad we did. We got the pre-theatre meal, a fixed menu and both had mussels followed by Seabass (for a supplement). Both the starter and the main course were extremely good. Fresh tasty ingredients, well-cooked and nicely presented. The only criticism I'd have, as someone who has been told to watch his blood pressure, is that both dishes were slightly salty. Service was good, friendly and cheerful, without being over-bearing, and as fits for a pre-theatre slot tables were cleared and replacements were brought efficiently and quickly. As seems to be becoming the custom people queued at the till at the entry point to pay, and again this happened with a minimum of fuss. A very positive experience, and we are likely to be back, probably with more time, to try the tapas rather than the pre-theatre menu....

Went for pre theatre menu. Balmoral chicken was lovely and home made millionaire cheesecake was light and very nice. Staff were efficiant despite being busy and did not have to wait long for food

Located on Belmont street. We took the sharing options. Little bit of a wait but the food was very good. Staff were very polite. Nice place to go for lunch.

1 RUDE WAITER / ANOTHER NICE ONE There were a few things that didn't make our experience here as enjoyable as we expected. We booked a table for 19:30, and when we were ordering, the waiter told us the kitchen closed at 20:00, which was quite surprising, as in their website (link on Google maps info) they say last orders are taken at 20:30. In fact, reservations can be made for 20:30. We ordered the food, and we explained the waiter there were some tapas dishes as main courses, so we asked him to bring those after the starters. Unfortunately, he didn't understand us, and he started to bring all the food together. However, when we tried to explain, he turned around and cut us off, which is probably one of the rudest things that has ever happened to me when eating out. Apart from that, out of the 5/6 desserts on the menu, only 2 were available. We were still finishing our meal when the same waiter brought the bill without saying a word or giving an explanation. It was around 21:00, and according to Google, closing time on Thursdays is 22:00. It was clear to us we were being asked to leave. The food was OK, and luckily for us there was another waiter (with tattooed arms) who was really nice to us. It was my birthday, and he helped my friends surprise me with a lit candle, singing happy birthday and everything. We really appreciated the gesture, specially after our experience with his partner. We're tourists. We've been travelling around Scotland for 10 days, and it's the 1st rude person we've bumped into here.

Late lunch prior to cinema. Took their Tapas all were tasty my favourite was haddock and leek risotto. Average wine quite pricey for what it was but that's the norm now. By the way Elvis film is fantastic even if you are a fan or not went to Belmont very handy for Kirkview.

Pre theatre meal we booked in advance with a 2hr window to order and eat meal in but service very slow and got order mixed up which meant we had to bolt our food in order to make the start of the show. Disappointed as food sounded lovely but overpriced for quantity and quality. Thought we would give a new restaurant a chance. Sadly, won't be making a return visit.

Excellent for pre-theatre food. I had the steak which was well worth the £4 supplement. Service was friendly, organised and efficient.

Went with a large group from work. Everyone really enjoyed the food and considering how many of us there were the service was fantastic. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Went to Kirk view at Aberdeen restaurant week and tried the Scottish tapas!! ✨Halloumi fries ✨Roasted pepper fajita risotto ✨Haddock strips ✨Goats cheese beetroot filo parcels Food are all so good!! Surprised by the risotto is spicy and love it! Filo parcels with goats cheese inside and the veggies + sauce makes it so refreshing as we ordered two tapas are fried We had dessert at last! Lemon cheesecake and Cream brûlée

This is the worst place I have ever been too. Food cold, prices not as advertised, receipt incorrect, staff unhelpful.

We were in on Friday night and the service was terrible! We had to ask for menus . Then had to ask for drinks. Then waited ages for someone to come and take our order . After our main course no one came near us to ask if we wanted a dessert .. we had to ask again . The place wasn’t even busy! Not enough staff!! And the guy at the till with no mask on couldn’t care less. The young girl that took our order seemed to be the only one doing any work. Definitely won’t be back

A very very pleasant night out! 'Scottish tapas' were brilliant, drinks were fab, atmosphere and service were second to none. Highly recommend!

We popped in for lunch about 13:40 and there were several empty tables but we were told they only had one table available until 14:30. So we decided to try somewhere else. But we hope to be back soon as the menu looks interesting and will make sure to book this time!

Really delicious tapas style dishes, loads of choices and obviously freshly prepared. Great outlook over Union Terrace Gardens and the lovely buildings beyond. High quality independent local restaurant well worth a visit for lunch or dinner.

Really great experience at Kirk View Cafe today. It was my first trip, really nice staff, love the Scottish Tapas menu. We had haggis balls, mussels, halloumi fries and a salad, all lovely especially the halloumi fries. We will definitely be back! Highly recommend

The Kirk View is absolutely fantastic. They worked with us to put together a great set menu in advance for a very covid-restriction-compliant celebration meal out. The options for the menu are extensive, the food is seasonal and locally sourced, and everything was made to a very high standard. The service, food, and drinks were all excellent - especially the duck spring rolls and the sticky toffee pudding. Absolutely recommended!

My daughter ordered the Afternoon Tea online for delivery on Mother's Day. It was an unexpected treat. Not the usual dull sandwich fayre, but an exciting assortment of bruschetta. It was excellent and much appreciated by our different age groups. And good value with prompt delivery. Thank you!!

Excellent three course meal and cocktail delivered to home. Delivery was prompt and food hot. Thoroughly enjoyed it all - so tasty! Our meal for four included breaded Brie and haggis bon bons for starters, balmoral chicken and burger for mains followed by chocolate brownies for desert. Highly recommend.

Got a takeaway style valentine's menu from here this year. Couldn't fault the food (or cocktails), whisky sauce with the balmoral chicken was particularly good! Would recommend and intend on visiting in person when possible.

I attended an afternoon tea on 23 February and wished that I had worn my thermals. It was absolutely freezing and food was expensive and in short supply.

Good bruchetta but average cakes let down further by extremely long wait for all items of food.

Was here for afternoon tea. I liked the bruschetta but the cakes were not very nice and also not enough to have one each (half a small scone each is just not acceptable for the price). Also the brownie was raw, literally. And finally all together we spent two hours in here for afternoon tea. Wait was way too long considering what we got and keeping in mind the place was not busy. By the time we got our food we had finished our drinks and so we were "obliged" to order drinks again. Overall, not impressed. It might have been a one-off bad day, but unfortunately I won't be returning. Ps. Service was ok, even though we sometimes struggled to get the waitress' attention. But I understand that can happen.

The food here is above standard been here a few times now and they have not let us down. There was 10 of us and the waitress was friendly and helpful, the food is made to order so the taste is good, will be back.

Excellent food at this little place. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Aberdeen, and its away from the crowds. The afternoon tea seemed very popular, but we stuck to the lunch menu, which was really good. It did get quite busy, and the poor waiter was on his own, it was a Monday when we visited, so if you were going on a weekend I would say definitely book ahead!

Fantastic food with really fresh ingredients. Very tasty - and the coffee is very good as well. Big complements to the chef. Also - amazing service. Our waiter, Finn, was one of the best waiters I've experienced. Always smiling, in a good mood, welcoming and extremely friendly. A joy to eat here, will definitely come again! (Give Finn a raise!)

Lovely little cafe/tea room that I went to with my family for afternoon tea. Waiter was working by himself but did a brilliant job serving our party of 6. The bruschetta's were amazing topped with either tomato, onion and olive, goats cheese and caramelised red onions or sweet chilli chicken. The goats cheese and red onion was outstanding. After we had teas and coffee accompanied by the below platter of mango panacotta, berrie scones, red velvet cake, chocolate cake and sticky toffee pudding. Would recommend this place for an interesting take on afternoon tea

Tried to book a table tonight (Saturday) for 8pm and was asked if we could do 7.30 which I told them I didn't think we could. I was told abruptly in these words "we are only a small cafe and you have to understand we can't be sitting waiting for YOU all night" which left me absolutely gobsmacked! I was in the middle of telling him to just forget it then and before I had even finished talking he put down the phone. How incredibly rude!. If you don't want bookings after 7.30 then DON'T offer a dinner menu, just have a pre-theatre menu so everyone is out your bistro by 8pm and you can go all go home. We will not be back despite having been there just recently. We will find another eaterie where they know the meaning of 'customer service' and they don't think 8pm is an unreasonable time to book dinner on a Saturday night!

Excellent food, again. Service a wee bit slow, due to a lot of visitors, so if in a rush, book for earlier sitting. We were in no rush so NO complaints. We'll be back, again!!!
