This may be a fab brunch spot, and the location on Camden Passage is great. But our dinner experience was a real let down. The room and the seating may be perfectly acceptable during the day. But in the evening it felt a cramped and a little sloppy. Likewise, the food just didn't match up to our expectations. If you serve dinner, you need to make an effort vary /upgrade the menu, smarten the place up for a night-time crowd and basically make the dining experience feel more special. You can do it, Kipferl!

Came here for dinner with a friend, and we both agreed that we need to return because the food is simply amazing. The käsespätzle were definitely our favorite - moreish, cheesy and savoury without being heavy. The wienerschnitzel was light and crunchy, comparable to the ones you'd taste in Viennese cafés. The Sachertorte, too, was as nostalgia-inducing as the rest of the meal - and now I can't wait to be back to try more, especially from the cake selection. Honourable mention for the service, too - the staff is attentive, polite and friendly. Would recommend!

A nice Austrian style patisserie / restaurant in quaint Camden Passage. We had some of the cafe’s famous Linzer Torte & Esterhazytorte together with a couple of cappuccino. Very happy with our choice. Suit people with sweet tooth like ourselves. Service was good too. Atmosphere casual but quite cozy.

As an Austrian myself I can say with confidence that you get authentic food here. I've been a few times over the years and the food is always delicious. This year I had my birthday dinner here and Hubert was very helpful getting a big table organised. The only minor criticism I would have is that the service is a bit hit and miss. I've had some very lovely staff but also had waiters before that seemed like they couldn't care less if you were there or not. All in all this is my favourite Austrian Restaurant in London so would definitely recommend going!

We visited Kipferl on a Saturday evening - the restaurant was busy and the atmosphere buzzing. We enjoyed every moment! The service exceptional, the food astonishingly good. My husband ordered the schnitzel and I the sausage - we then shared so we could enjoy both dishes which were superb. Great Austrian beer went down a treat and we sampled the sachertorte and strudel to finish. Highly recommend this gem of a place and we will most definitely return. Thanks to all the Kipferl team! I recently visited this restaurant and had an absolutely terrible experience. The staff was shockingly rude and showed blatant discrimination towards people of colour. Upon arrival, I was told I had to book a seat, despite there being plenty available. After returning 10 minutes later, I was seated but given a ridiculous one-hour time limit, even though it was only 6 pm I ordered a Viennese coffee, which was overpriced at £8.9. When I tried to order another drink nearing 7 pm, the staff abruptly refused service and asked me to leave, despite the restaurant being nearly empty. To add insult to injury, I was charged a service fee for this appalling treatment, resulting in me paying £10.1 for a very normal iced coffee. The level of disrespect and discrimination I experienced as a paying customer was appalling. I came here with a good attempt to spread good words about this restaurant to my colleauges and friends as there are not so many Austrian cafes in central London. I will never set foot in this establishment again, and I strongly advise others to avoid it as well. Management needs to address their staff's behaviour and improve their customer service standards immediately.

Was looking forward to an Austrian meal having been to Austria many times. We were sat in good time and had menus. However the staff then seemed to forget us and after trying to get attention and 15 mins had to go and find them to put in drinks and food orders. Almdudler was great to get. Need normal UK shops to sell this. Schnitzel both chicken and veal were fine. Had better and worse. Rest of the bood was ok but overly salty. Generally it was more street food quality. I have no problem with this but with a bill (with desert) for 5 of over £200 it is definitely not street food priced. Again for desert the menu was dropped off and 15 to 20 mins later had to find someone to take an order. Similar when we wanted to pay.

The staff were lovely, the atmosphere was pleasant, and main dishes like salads, soups, sausages are all fine. Unfortunately, the cake was dry and meh, and had to send back the actual kipferl, which was dry, heavy, stodgy, with an overly yeasty flavour - to quote my 10yo daughter, 'disgusting'. Having had a semmel here years ago which was equally awful, I was shocked to find nothing had improved and the establishment's namesake pastry was so rubbish! As a baker myself who loves (properly made) Austrian baked goods, I would fire whoever bakes here, or send them on a course on how to prove and bake brioche dough properly so it doesn't come out like a yeasty black hole.

Staff is extremely nice and helpful. They’re here to help you choose from menu and serve quickly. The food comes to your table in 5-7 mins although restaurant is full. Typical “hausgemacht” Austrian dishes as if you’re sitting in a restaurant/gasthaus in Austria. If you miss Austria or the food I definitely suggest a visit. Ordered the schnitzel, and although krispy, the veal was rather dry. But the shocking disappointment was the basic boiled potatoes buried underneath. If you're going to be serving a meal with such minimal ingredients, take some pride to execute them well.

However, when I came back in ten or so, there was a huge line outside so I decided to walk on to allow the full fifteen to elapse. When I came back, another hostess told me she saw me at the back line and saw me leave, which, in her interpretation, meant that I had to restart the waiting cycle even though nobody had called me at any point. I’d eaten here on a number of occasions and while I love their goulash soup, their schnitzel is too thick and generally poorly spiced.

Kids-unfriendly restaurant with a very rude waitress. My husband tried to book a table for 4 and went to the restaurant with a pram. He was said that there was no booking option on Sunday and he can come back when he wants. When we came back within 1hr, we were told that there was no chance to sit with the baby. There is only one table for the baby, they said. No space for the pram...with suggestions to leave a pram on the street. I insisted on getting a table, as somebody told him to come back and we were waiting for 1hr. The waitress was very rude to me and gave us a table with the pram space saying that she was doing an exception as 'I was pushing her' and my husband didn't mentioned a baby (despite being with the baby 1hr earlier). When I was waiting for 2 other people (who were lost and couldn't find the restaurant) and willing to order some food in advance, they came to me saying that I cannot wait for anybody leaving a half table empty... Another waitress came to me saying that I don't have to order anything in advance for 4 people as they prepare food within 10mins. I ordered food 15-20mins after sitting anyway and food came after 20 mins. The rest of the service was ~normal, but when I wanted to pay the waitresses were commenting between each other the pram loudly... I really regret paying over £100 for such horrible treatment/service. Obviously, service charge 12.5% included. Never again...

Thank you very much for an lovely meal! It was very helpful that you allowed for some changes to the children's menu. And even though the meal portions were very large, the cakes looked so tempting that we tried them also and enjoyed them with a very good "kleiner Brauner". The friendly and relaxed staff made our visit very pleasant.

Lovely restaurant. Unpretentious and good atmosphere. Slightly concerned food arrived so quickly suggesting not cooked fresh for us. Staff were really welcoming and attentive.
