Had been keen to visit the inn for some time Booked into Restuarant on a Wednesday evening. Very quiet However the dishes were very tasty and made great use of local produce Prices we felt were expensive and the cost of side dishes a bit of a rip off Very attentive service

I’ve been following these guys on social media for a while and have been desperate to visit. The food was absolutely brilliant. Seasonal and local took priority, with hearty portions. Sharing plates are great - the chateaubriande platter was a huge win for the table!! You really get looked after by the team, welcomed and fed well. Great atmosphere, not at all stuffy, everything you want from a pub restaurant. My favourite place to eat in Fife!

You will not be disappointed! What a gem set in the beautiful little village of Kilconqur. We had Chicken Salmoriglio with aioli. To die for. Moist entree and lovely roasted potatoes. Aioli complemented meal perfectly. Started with beet root/goat cheese. Drizzled with special oil. Also had deviled eggs like I’ve never tasted before. Such a special experience with 5 star meal in such an enchanting village. Staff were friendly and eager to please.

We had a lovely evening in the restaurant. The menu and specials board gave enough choice without overwhelm. Each course was gorgeous and we were even given bread for mopping up the delicious sauce. The raw blue fun tuna was a highlight for me. Friendly service and enjoyed the simple touch of having well sign posted loos!

We were driving back to Edinburgh from St. Andrew’s, through the coastal towns, when we came across this gem. We phoned ahead and they were able to get us in. Everything was top notch. The servers were incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home; the food was phenomenal. We started with their house bread and butter before having the Pig’s Head Croquettes. The croquettes, crispy on the outside, were melt-in-your-mouth goodness on the inside. For mains, the Shetland Lamb was braised perfection with a delightful and unexpected fava bean puree; I was so taken with my main dish, I’m not quite sure what my spouse had now - I think it was a crispy duck croquette, possibly from the Specials menu. To finish off, my wife had the Meringue with Rhubarb and I had the Malt House Ice Cream. To summarize, the entire menu offered the unexpected. All was well presented in creative fashion, but still approachable from a “comfort food” point of view. The inn was cozy, welcoming, and well worth a visit. I wish they would be a little closer to home.

Our first time at the Inn. We went for lunch to try out before taking friends. The menu and specials board was excellent . The food was really very very good. What’s more it was a proper portion size. They catered for both vegan and non vegan. Good wine list.Nothing was too much trouble. Lovely informal decor. Need less to say we will be back with our friends in October .Lastly, our server was on day 2 of his training and did a brilliant job!

Amazing food and friendly, helpful staff. Cannot wait to go back! My husband and I had the most amazing lunch in this cosy restaurant. We booked last minute and we weren't disappointed. We had anchovy pullet eggs (think small deviled eggs with fresh, salty anchovies) while we were waiting for the specials board. We had already decided to have the line caught cod but then we saw the specials! Short rib steak pie for 2 jumped into first place. We were told it would take 45 minutes so we ordered some oysters with shallot vinaigrette and beetroot borani with feta, walnuts and dill served with warm flat bread. The food was absolutely amazing. It was the best steak pie I've ever had! For dessert we shared the last piece of treacle tart which was the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. Ruth, the waitress and mixologist had created an old fashioned using tequila aged in whisky barrels. This was the perfect finish to an incredible meal. The staff were really friendly and made us feel very welcome. We can't wait to go back!

Absolutely loved this little Inn. We were staying in Kilconquhar, the Kinneuchar Inn was a 7 minute walk. We had booked for the Saturday night but decided to walk along on the Friday with our 3 Scottie girls to see if they took dogs. Nev said no problem he was lovely & the Inn was perfect for drink’s, dinner had finished but Ruth overheard us asking & offered to make us soup & chips ….now that’s service, we opted for chips & they were amazing. Ruth changed our booking to a bar table for the following night so as we could bring our Scottie girls. Food was excellent we had the fish of the day which we both enjoyed. If you’re in the area definitely check this place out. Thank you Ruth & Nev for looking after us.

We were so impressed with the quality of the food and the attentive service on out first visit to the Kinneuchar Inn that we followed-up two other visits during our 5 day stay in the nearby resort. Our other choices were The Ship at Elie and the 19th Hole, which are both excellent and based on quality of cuisine and presentation I would rate the Kinneuchar at least on a par with two fine establishments and even better value. The rump steak with fat chips was well presented and a really nice touch was that Ben the Chef actually served us too and duly followed-up for feedback. His enthusiasm is obvious and is such a refreshing. Another welcoming aspect is wine is reasonably priced and of very acceptable quality The dining room in a separate area of at the back of the Inn is no way posh but I would say the quality of the food and the excellent service more than makes up for the sparse surroundings.

We visited the revamped Kinneuchar Inn on 29 June and were so looking forward to it. A limited menu can be fine but not if the choices consist of quirky and unfamiliar items. The pork leg main course was served pink and just about luke-warm and despite being thin cut, it was quite tough. Despite the fancy description it was no more than a bog standard “Sunday roast” We did give our feedback to the kitchen via the waitress but the message back was “ Chef says that’s how it is supposed to be” Ian Hughes

I had a squid salad and plaice cooked to perfection and with a delicious crab sauce. The staff were wonderful and attentive. The food arrived promptly and the two hour slot was more than enough. The Inn had gained a huge reputation in the few short months it was open before COVID and this meal was right up there. £45 a head (and that’s just for the food)...restaurant prices. But this is pub food. Very limited choices, which is fine if it’s exceptional. It’s not. At least give a choice of cheese OR pudding. A lot of leeway given at this post Covid time, but come on...the service was kind of hopeless. Chaotic actually. We weren’t allowed a drink outside in case we slowed up the dinner service, but it took 45 minutes for our starter to appear. No time for, and no offer of, tea or coffee at the end of dinner. We left feeling not just thoroughly disappointed but taken advantage of. We’re trying to support local but our locals need to support and look after us too. A total of £80+ a head is a pretty expensive 2 hour night out in rural Fife. NOT value for money in any way.

Having had some very ordinary fare on the previous evening at a major hotel chain, and paid just about the same for the meal, there was really no comparison in either quality, value, experience in fact anything, this little place was delightful and certainly deserving of recent plaudits on TV. Thank you.

We were a party of 4 that had dinner here for the first time last night. We will definitely be back. The service and food was excellent. The chicken and ham pie for 2 was a favourite! We also loved the decor, very laidback and tasteful. One other reviewer spoke about the noise . The dining room is quite small and therefore a bit noisy but for us this added to the atmosphere and was not a problem. Looking forward to our next visit.

My son Ian Marshall had been raving about this restaurant. So whole family went along for my birthday & it certainly did not disappoint. Food was excellent, staff were lovely & yes it’s not cheap. But it is great value for money, we’ll defiantly be back.

Puzzled at the great reviews. Menu choice OK at best. Hake and chick peas not great. Anchovies seemed scarce or missing. A very heavy main. Maybe the evenings are better. May return but would check menu on Web Site. Value poor.

Great little find, perhaps needing a few further refinements. Our meal was good and the menu offered a good choice. Perhaps the best being the special dessert -clementine st Clements- small but lovely. Game broth with tortellini was tasty but pasta a little tough. The mutton tasty and filling if rather “rustic” in presentation? Staff welcoming and very friendly and baby facilities excellent for a small establishment Overall well worth a visit if you’re in the area but we were left wondering if the 1.5hr drive there and 2.5hr drive back (A92 closed by an accident) made it a bit too much of a trek. Will be a definite hit for the spring and summer visitors to nearby Elie

Had been eagerly anticipating our meal for a while after seeing the incredible reviews, and it did not disappoint. Wonderful service- on arrival we instantly felt welcome and were about to experience something special. That continued throughout. Menu was exciting and innovative, we had the mussels and charcuterie for starters then the pork chop and special mince and patties for main. The mussels are cooked in a cider and n'duja sauce- fresh and full of flavour. The charcuterie and pickled accoutrements are created in house and you can tell. These went down very well with an expertly made bloody mary and negroni. The following mains were excellent- very generous portions... just wish I had been able to finish! After our meal we moved through to the snug for a glass of cremant and had the pleasure of speaking to one of the owners. What a wonderful job they have done. They clearly have such a passion for food and a tireless motivation for hospitality! Cannot wait to return.

I had heard good reports of the Kinneuchar Inn but it did not live up to expectations. It was so noisy that conversation was difficult. We asked the waitress various questions about the Specials board but we could not hear her replies.I would have liked some bread with my starter but there was none offered. The vegetables were very disappointing and the main course which I had was also disappointing. The ambiance was quite good but the whole experience was not.

Having read some amazing reviews of the Kinneuchar Inn, we decided to chance our luck when we happened to be nearby. We hoped we could get at least a bar snack, but were welcomed warmly, shown to a lovely table in the cozy bar and offered the full menu. We decided we didn’t want a huge lunch so ordered lots of starters and bar snacks — and ended up having a big lunch! Even the little things are amazing - the bread and butter would be a meal in itself. Piping hot artichoke soup; scrumptious and mustardy Welsh rarebit (which did not need the extra Worcestershire sauce that was offered); and a phenomenal dish of leeks in a warm parsley/caper sauce with some soft-boiled eggs . And then for added gluttony, a bowl of the crispiest, tastiest “pork skin” aka crackling straws — we ordered a bowl, as did one other nearby table. The other big table in the bar took one look and ordered their own bowl. (I was quite thirsty the rest of the afternoon but that’s more than compensated by the deliciousness of the dish!) We resisted dessert and will save that treat for the next visit when perhaps we’ll try the main restaurant. Compared with London prices for similar quality, the Kinneuchar Inn offers exceptional value for money. The atmosphere is calm and cozy; the loos are the best and cleanest of any restaurant in Fife! I can’t wait to return! It really does live up to the hype!

This is an old country pub in a small village which has been reborn as an exceptional small restaurant - but still retaining its character as a local inn. The food is creative and beautifully cooked, the welcome and service is both warm and very efficient. This is a destination worthy of a special visit.

We went for lunch en route from Edinburgh to St Andrews...well worth the detour. There were 4 in our party, and every different dish we had was just superb. Food is delicious and unpretentious, service warm, friendly and informal. A very pleasant way to spend a winter afternoon.

We weren’t the first, and we won’t be the last, to visit based on the rave Sunday Times review, but we’re so glad we made the trip up from London before word gets out about how fantastic this place is. It’s clear that a lot of love (and money) has been poured into the renovation of this old pub - the place is full of beautiful hand crafted pieces, and everything feels sumptuous and cosy in a quietly luxurious way. How a pub should be!

This is a new restaurant that opened a few months ago and my wife and I visited it for the first time on Friday 20th Dec, staff were very friendly, place was busy and had a good atmosphere with plenty of room for diners comfort and you could chat and be heard without being crowded or drowned out by overall noise.

Fantastic meal. The menu changes daily I think, but we had starters of Jerusalem Artichoke + Goats Curd (fantastic), home-smoked sea trout (also lovely) and mains of Roe Venison (wow, perfect) and a huge, whole lemon sole, all beautifully cooked. We were pretty full by then, but finished off with homemade ice cream - Malt for me, Bramley Apple sorbet for my wife. We found the prices reasonable for this level of cooking - there might be 3-4 restaurants in Fife cooking to this standard, so Kinneuchar Inn has quickly joined the best in our wee Kingdom; and I think within that group it is probably the least expensive (and least formal as well, a good thing in my book). We spent £79 for 2, including wine, but I had the most expensive thing on the menu (the whole lemon sole), so it would've been easy to spend £10 less, or to spend the same for larger appetites.

Visited here with my husband, son and my parents for Sunday lunch. Upon first appearance the restaurant has been transformed and looks beautiful however once we were presented with the small menus we quickly realised our initial excitement was to be short lived. The menu consisted of skate wing, pheasant, artichoke, lamb, pheasant and trotter pie. To accompany any of these random options you could also purchase a limited choice of potato and veg for a very over inflated price. We waited 40 minutes for our food and when it did arrive it was extremely disappointing with strange and unusual tastes. All in all an overly pretentious, over priced and small portioned restaurant. Bring back the good old pub food, that’s what people want...

Watching tv a couple of weeks ago, we saw a piece on Kinneuchar Inn and decided to book for Sunday lunch! The Inn has been tastefully modernised and the menu whilst short was excellent with everything we had being exceptionally tasty! Service was friendly and efficient and the value for money was great! Not sure I should be recommending as I don’t want our “find” to get too busy, but judging by the steady flow of happy customers the “secret” is already out!

Went for steak night but extremely disappointed. Asked for medium steak but was more rare.Few soggy chips, hard peas and two underdone soggy onion rings. No salad as advertsed. Food was also cold. Asked for a prosecco and was told had no cold ones . Was given small one off top shelf behind bar but when I opened it it was completely flat and very yellow so I think it must have been on the shelf a long while! Lady opened big bottle which again came from top shelf so was not cold but was bubbly. Can't believe there was no bottles in wine fridge. Sticky toffee pudding was good though. Seeing as there was just one other couple in the restaurant there really was no excuse for steak meal being so poor as kitchen not rushed. Won't be rushing back!!!

Great location on the Old Course. Beautiful modern terrace on the top floor with stunning views across the fairways to the sea. So wanted to like this place but were disappointed. Food was standard golfing fare - steaks and lobster - OK but nothing special . Wine list reasonable for price and choice. What lets the place down is the lack of management oversight. Tables with broken legs, jet lagged golfers asleep in the lobby, incredibly noisy ambience all overseen by a well meaning but overwhelmed serving staff. Not what you expect when paying $400 for a meal for two. Dinner took three and a half hours. We had to track down staff to order wine, coffee and get the check. Could be a good dining alternative to the Old Course Hotel but its let down badly by the service. Seems its owned by one of those absentee investment companies and it shows .

When the weather turns cold, shops closed, you don’t want a restaurant, just a cuppa, Alexander and George will make you welcome. Enticed by the chips! Feel much better now. Thanks guys!

Had afternoon Tea today(Sunday). The view is stunning, overlooking the golf course and the Forth. We had to wait around 10 minutes and received 4 types of sandwiches, a plain scone and fruit scone and a variety of cakes. The scones were some of the best I’ve ever had- warm from the oven, the cakes were light. We received a bottle of water and large pot of tea but had to ask for glasses. The toilets were a bit more dated than the restaurant but clean

Arranged to meet friends here for a lunch and a catch up. This is a very popular visit with very pleasant surroundings through a very large conservatory contributing to a very well lit area. There are a number of tables within the conservatory and your extensive menu is on the table. There are hot and cold food choices ordered at the server and brought to your table. We opted for chicken and rice soup and tomato and vegetable soup. To accompany the soup we ordered cheese and onion toasties and cheese and ham. We had carrot cake put aside for later that was the last of it. The chicken soup had a distinct homemade stock flavour with generous amounts of chicken through the rice and veg. The toasties came with crisps and side salad and coleslaw on the side. They were very well cooked with a generous filling. Finally the piece de resistance the home baking carrot cake came bursting with flavour very moist and topped with a very sweet icing. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone and will definitely be back.
