We had an absolutely fabulous time at the Castle, an experience which will be truly remembered forever by everyone who was there. I could not recommend this place highly enough. We are all still buzzing from our weekend stay there. The staff gave 110% and were so efficient with everything. The chef, even came and introduced himself and hoped we all had a lovely time. The food was just first class with every attention to detail. Special thanks to Nicola, Marlene and Fraser for making it the best experience ever. Would love to go back at some point

No podemos esperar a volver.

We visited Kinnettles Castle for the first time yesterday afternoon as a surprise get together for my 70th birthday. My daughter found it on a search of suitable places half way between where we live in Edinburgh and where one daughter and her family live near Fraserburgh. The choice couldn't have been better. The setting was beautiful with snow capped peaks to see in the distance and lovely wooded grounds to walk in if you felt so inclined. We had a choice of where we wanted to have our afternoon tea and my grand-daughters plumped for the bar which was lovely and cosy.. The sofas were a bit too low for me but the staff soon solved the problem with a nice higher chair and moved a table so that we were all able to access our food easily. There were eight of us in the party and the amount of food we had was amazing. A special cake stand was done for my two young grand-daughters with things that would normally tempt young children. Our cake stands were loaded with a lovely selection of sandwiches, savouries, scones and a most unusual selection of very tempting ( not good for the waist line, though )cakes - but oh so good!!! We couldn't finish everything, but that was no problem since our lovely young waitress was only too happy to box up the left-overs for us to take home. I can't recommend this highly enough. The staff were lovely and attentive when you needed them and the chef deserves praise for his innovative selection of cakes - all beautifully presented. I wouldn't hesitate to go back or to recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere peaceful and quiet for a lovely day out. Full marks to everyone for making my Valentines Day Birthday extra special and thank you to my daughter for finding it in the first place!! We will return very soon, I hope. Keep up the good work at Kinnettles Castle.

It was our first visit to Kinnettles Castle, we were there for afternoon tea for Father's day. We arrived and the place looked empty but we were soon joined by the hotel manager who could not have done enough for you!! He asked if we wanted our tea before our tour? I had forgotten that you get a tour of the castle with afternoon tea. We went on the tour first and loved a look around the beautiful, quirky place. The manager was so good at this, with great patter! As if that was not enough, we were then treated to afternoon tea, there were 5 of us in our party and the spread of food as it came out seemed enormous. I thought it was a particularly nice touch to have the chef come out of the kitchen and bring out afternoon tea and then talk through what we had to choose from. The food was so lovely we just could not stop eating not wanting to leave anything on the plates but we were forced to when we simply could not eat any more. A great place, fantastic hosts. I know it is up for sale just now and just only hope that when it is sold it does not lose the staff or atmosphere we were lucky enough to experience.

Stayed here last month for a special price of £149 for a night's stay and banquet. Firstly it is very isolated and the night we stayed there was only 2 other couples staying there. The castle itself has been totally modernised and there is very little left to show its age and history. Our room was large and modern which I found a bit sad, when I stay in a castle, I want a room to look historical and 'old'. In the evening you met with the other diners in the bar and then ate together on a large dining table. The other two couples were very nice but this was a bit of a shock to my husband and myself as we are very private people who like our own company. You had no choice whatsoever on the menu, it was like it or lump it really. As a vegetarian I was given pasta which I find incredibly boring and I complained about this when i arrived and enquired what they were serving me. The chef then offered to cook me Rissotto which I hate, so I was stuck with pasta. The meal was fine but my husband had a taste of what I get all the time, no choice on what you actually want to eat. We had a nice enough stay for £149 but it felt creepy only having 6 people staying there and we are not used to mixing with other people.

Not long back from having Afternoon Tea which my Daughter and Son-in-law had booked for my Birthday/Mothers Day. What can I say, apart from-Superb! Could not fault anything! We were in the dining room overlooking the wonderful scenery. Congrats to all staff for making this a lovely experience! Service was professional but also relaxed, the food was excellent, thanks go to the chefs! After lunch we went for a wee wander around the reception level and we're asked if we would like to see a couple of rooms by the lady waiting staff(sorry, didn't catch your name!)who was very helpful, but also professional. The rooms were gorgeous! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this Castle-we will be back!!

Two years ago we had a wedding in Kinnettles Castle and it was an excellent full weekend venue. So when a significant birthday was due in our family, we again booked the castle to relive that memorable experience. But no! Building is still fantastic, staff pleasant, but instead of the main dining room which we asked specifically for, we were put into a small poky room with another (admittedly very pleasant) two couples and served a VERY mediocre meal. Emails to the operators evinced no response whatsoever. This is really a dreadful shame as it could be a wonderful, special venue but with this 'couldn't care less' attitude, I doubt but we'll soon see it on the market again. This is a very specialist market, and if you charge five-star prices you shouldn't really expect your customers to accept one-star service.

Beautiful castle , recently renovated with surprisingly modern decor that works really well. The reception areas the dining room , the bedrooms etc are all elegant, slightly funky, and highly imaginative (check out the fireplace in the hall). We had a meal with a group of friends in the impressive dining room .....there is a huge modern glass topped table seating about 20 people . The food was good , but somewhat disappointing. The starters were very acceptable , but not memorable, the main courses were of generous size , but not memorable , and the desserts were very much mass produced by some large catering company. There were only 2 members of staff on duty in the dining room and bar area, and they were working very hard indeed....I'd say they needed some extra help. The young (inexperienced ?) waiter had grubby trousers and shirt cuffs with missing buttons, which is simply not good enough for an establishment of this type. Its such a lovely place, but the food and the service are not up to standard. I have given a disappointing average rating because of food and level of service

Went for a special night out in August. Advertised as "Fine Dining Experience". No menu was shown to us and no choice was offered with each course. Service was very mediocre as was food. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING !!!! Definitely not worth the £55 per person charge.Would certainly not recommend Kinettles Castle to any of our friends

Just popped in for drinks, always great. Update 24th September 2024: Food was poor. The lasagna was basically mince, and pasta and cheese had no sauce tomato or herbs. Cullen Skink had hard potatoes. Fish pie would have been better with less cheese. I was disappointed as it usually was good.

Really busy night but welcome and service very good. Had the chicken with morel cream sauce, the meat was moist and full of flavour, personally would have like a touch more morel. Prices very reasonable for the quality of the food. Lighting a bit harsh

Like stepping into the past unfortunately. Wanted a nice coffee but it was (genuinely) instant coffee that was used. Pretty run down toilets, and they don't accept card. Such a shame when you'd rather support a small local cafe, but they give you nescafe granules 🙈

If you think you’d enjoy somewhere with excellent food, service and atmosphere and you haven’t been here, get a table booked. The long waiting list for a table (4-5 months at the moment) says a lot. The food really was superb and the info/stories from Lewis on how the dishes were designed before each course helped make for a great evening out. I’ll definitely be going back!
