Kings Head in North Norfolk

A great pub, a wonderful room in one of Norfolk’s nicest towns. The staff were great, the beer was good and breakfast at Byfords was lovely

We had a 2 night break in Room 2 which was fabulous. Such a comfy bed and everything so cosy. Loved the underfloor heating in the bathroom and the small kitchen where we could cook if we wanted. Would definitely stay there again. Breakfast at Byfords is absolutely delicious and worth the short walk.

Such helpful staff and we had a very tasty dish and chips!

Said on website roast on a Sunday only. Went in to get one to be told they don't do them. Suggest you update your website.

My wife and I were on holiday in the area and called into the Kings head Wroxham for dinner on a Wednesday evening at 7pm. Perfect town centre location with a huge beer garden which backs on to the river. Free car park. Dog friendly. Large pub run by a chain. We found the seating comfortable. Order and pay for food at the bar (personally, I do not like this system. I prefer meal first pay after, but it is not a criticism) Huge TV screens in the bars, (luckily ours wasn't switched on so we had a quite space). Waitress service was excellent, food was well cooked and tasty, prices were very reasonable.

Amazing staff, food and location. We booked the King’s Head for a 30th birthday with a large booking of 30+ people. Tom, the manager, was absolutely fantastic at arranging the day and ensuring everything ran smoothly. We had exclusive use of the back of the restaurant which is a really lovely space and fitted all of our party comfortably. The food was tasty and served at our request. The staff couldn’t have done enough for us so we definitely recommend if you are thinking of hosting a large party!

Says food all day on website and even painted on the wall inside the pub, went in at 2.30 on a Thursday asked for menu was given one then went in to order , attitude was as if they were doing me a favour feeding me. Apparently we were the last food order of the day as well which they made sure they told us just so we felt extra appreciative for

Rooms like a boutique hotel, but very reasonably priced. Excellent and friendly service. Heartily recommend.

Had drinks with 5 friends while watching England play Ireland. after the game finished started playing pool only to be told to keep the noise down because the restaurant was full and if we didn’t like it we could go somewhere else. The restaurant had ten people in it and all the doors were open including a fire door form the bar area to the restaurant which should be closed due to it have a closer fitted and intermittent fire strips which had been wedged open. I think it is acceptable to cheer when win a game of pool in a pub and I would say the dinners would probably even hear the cars driving past in the town with all the doors open but it’s seems they will take your money as drinkers until people start dinner then you are not wanted. Very poor customer service and seems staff can do and say what they like.

Never been before. There was trouble with the internet which meant that it was cash only which was not a problem for us. The food was lovely, exactly what pub food should be. Hot, well presented, and made to order. There was a waitress whose name we asked ‘Helen’ who was flying around doing all the jobs, taking orders, serving drinks, serving meals, taking payments , but not many other staff around. This lady deserves a medal and a pay rise as she kept the place going, she is a credit to the Kings Head ( and no we don’t know her) Worth a visit for no nonsense pub food.

Visited on bank holiday Sunday, Busy but had booked so ok. Welcomed by great staff who made us very welcome as part of our party was delayed. Visited as 4 Adults and2 Children. Had a good range of meals to suit all tastes at reasonable prices. Good choice of beers and wines. Service was excellent by all staff. Gave kids activity sheets to keep them entertained. Fantastic night with good food with even better service couldn’t fault it.

This was a great stop over on the Rebellion Way cycle route. Highly recommend.

Goats cheese quinoa salad was banging, my only criticism would be that the foccacia wasn’t focaccia, and more like sourdough. Dark haired Waitress/bar lady who served me was really friendly. Nice little pub with a quiet courtyard.

Very disappointed with the food, prices and service. The prices were very high for the quality of the food. The food at The King's Head used to be amazing, so we were excited for our visit. However, the chips tasted like they had been frozen, the curry weirdly smelt nice but had no taste at all and the rice was cooked to a paste. For around £18 a head this was not what we expected. My dad ordered fish and chips and they didn't have any, which seemed odd. Nobody in our party of 7 enjoyed their meal and some of us were left still hungry since we couldn't stomach the food. Would have ordered dessert but at £8 a pop we decided we had wasted enough money. Our server was nice enough but the other members of were a quite rude. Needless to say we did not leave a tip.

Staff are all children. Very rude, lazy and made us almost feel guilty for asking for anything.

We made two visits as first time we only had a soup and a BLT sandwich both so big we couldn't each all of our sandwiches lots of bacon on it too, very nice but the room were we ate with our dog had a couple of issues nothing the management could do anything about ,our dog doesn't get involved with barky dogs she thinks theyre silly!!!! We just got our soup ( homemade mushroom mmmmm yummy) granary bread & butter , when a couple came in the room with a little girl ,sat down for drinks and ordered there meals when the barky dog started to go off again them it must have been the child didn't like the barking and she began to cry at top put h mum & Dad tried to calm her but it made her worse then there meals and ours arrived OMG the noise in the small dog friendly room was not good ,in the end the father left with the child he seemed very upset ,the dog carried on barking too !!!!! Great food but dreadful 2 hours I'll never get back😂 2 ND visit we dined in resturant and our dog stayed at home I'd definitely eat in the Resturant next time hubby had fish & chips he didn't like his chips very brown but a huge piece of battered cod ,I had chicken snitzel skin in fries & salad lovely ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The service is very friendly in pleasant surroundings. The Merthyr gives the impression that there are chips with everything. Not quite true, but sometimes you have to ask, why chips as well. I had a ham and tomato sandwich, but you also got a small salad, coleslaw and yes, chips. There is no such thing as a light bite on the menu. Have to say, the white bread did seem a little bland. Overall a bit underwhelming.

As part of Anglian Country inns, this was the 4th venue we have visited. Each time our meal was very good with friendly staff.

Food was very tasty and well presented. Staff could not do enough for you and the pub has lots of room with quirks . We will go back

The King's head isn't what it was the food quality has become terrible and the prices rocketed its totally unacceptable 😑 as I avoid it now it's not worth the money and I'm trying to get rid of places I used to go that are now totally unacceptable so go somewhere else that's yer best bet

I am a local and have visited the Kings Head many times and have always enjoyed the experience. I am assuming cost cutting has lead to the now limited menu and the worst chicken burger I have ever experienced. The chicken was not breast (as previously which was terrific) but a stringy cheap mess and was inedible. My partner let me have one of her burgers which I ate but was also terrible quality and obviously frozen. The food used to be so good and we were so disappointed as locals that this will no longer be on our rotation of places to eat out. On a positive note the (maybe Italian) waiter was fantastic, attentive and personable. I would rather pay slightly more for a higher standard of food.

On a date weekend with my wife. Cosy, welcoming pub. The staff were attentive & we were well looked after by Tom. Recommend the sharing platter, accommodation was well kitted out, quirky and having a kitchen was a bonus that we weren’t expecting. Would stay again & love to bring the dog with us to make extra special which is something we mentioned they might want to cater for.

£5.00 for a pint of mediocre ale. £5.00 for a bottle of Crabbies Ginger Beer, which retailers get for about 70p. Packet of crisps ... don't even ask! Profiteering gone mad. Be warned - ask for prices first!

Absolutely dreadful meal- out of 4 orders one didn’t arrive (eventually came about half an hour later), one burger (obviously a cheap frozen thing) was cold and one (pork and venison burger) smelt and tasted as if the meat was going off. The pork belly was good when it did arrive but we didn’t hang around for pudding….Had always been v impressed on many previous visits but sadly we will not be returning again…

We arrived for lunch to an empty pub. Some of the menu items were not available.When the mains arrived 2 of the 4 were sent back and one meal was missing.Then the bill was not correct. It was a shambles.The manager was very apologetic but generally things were not up to standard.

We ordered 4 meals, and only 3 came, they claimed they had not seen it. Both burgers were terrible and obviously frozen. The venison burger smelt off and tasted horrid. After sending them back the service was poor and very unsure of what to do. Manager was helpful but other staff seemed inexperienced. One meal was good, but the burgers ruined the experience. We also ordered 4 drinks yet 5 came and we were charged for 5.

Lovely relaxed atmosphere and extremely friendly and polite barmaid. The soup was very good and so was the mulled wine. Overall a good experience.

Very warm welcome. Not having booked, wasn't sure we could get a table being so near Christmas. However, nothing was too much trouble. Shown to a lovely table in the conservatory. Polite, efficient waiting staff. Plentiful hot portions of main courses followed by equally delicious desserts. Would recommend.

Friendly welcome and pleasing looking venue. Menu was simple with decent choice for vegetarians. I had the 'Butternut squash, turnip & celeriac wellington, sauté potatoes, mushroom sauce' Absolutely shocked when the meal came. The portion size was minuscule. £18!!! Hence, extremely bad value. First class service. These guys make you feel so special. Then the food was delicious without one of those complicated menus that you spend 2 hrs reading! And to top it all the prices won't empty your bank account. So, together with a real wood fire 🔥 and glorious surroundings would definitely recommend this hidden gem

There are many places to choose from in Holt to have lunch, but we both thought that The Kings Head looked a great place for a bite and drink. I'm so glad we picked there as we had very tasty sandwiches, served with salad, coleslaw, and French fries. I opted for a BLT on granary, which was definitely one of the best BLTs I've ever had. Be warned that you need a good appetite as we each only managed half of our sandwiches. The portions are extremely generous. We ate in the restaurant, which has been decorated for autumn, and it looked lovely. Both the bar and table service were excellent and very friendly. As I couldn't eat my sandwich, they wrapped it up to take it out. If this was local to us, we'd definitely be regular visitors. I have no hesitation in highly recommending. To get good food and goid service is great. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

We holiday in the local area most years and always make time to visit this pub . Casual dining inside with a pooch in tow isn’t easy coupled with my mobility issues if you find a good place you return . The staff are friendly and welcoming , Freddie dog got his own dish of treats which settles him nicely for a snooze 💤 under the table . Cromer crab salad was one f the days specials so 2 of us chose that served with either proper bread and butter or fries , one of the specials was belly pork with colcanon mash it was a generous portion and served steaming hot , the other meal of bbq marinated chicken and bacon in brioche bun was also generous and deemed tasty . Well worth a visit as there is outside covered seating , dig friendly bar and restaurant for a more formal dining experience .

We went here recently as a family of four. We had a great meal and the service was brilliant. Very knowledgeable about the many drinks on offer and all the details of the food menu as well. Would definitely recommend this place. I would recommend booking. We managed to get the last table on a Monday night at 7 pm.

Found one of the few places that are dog friendly in Holt. Our pooches enjoyed the serving of snacks and water. Our food and beer all very good and reasonable pricing too. Staff very friendly and polite, thank you we enjoyed our lunch.
