Dropped in for drinks and food. Excellent service at bar, great beer in good condition. Three good cask ales. Super pub food, great service. Barmaid so friendly helpful and obliging. Lovely to sit outside in the sun. All the food good ingredients and very well prepared by the chef - simple but wholesome and good. Will definitely call in again when in the area.

Stopped at this pub on the way home as we were hungry, we ordered our food which came out 20 minutes later the food was burnt and didn’t taste very nice. service was awful. Do not go the toilet in this place as the ladies was filthy and had paint all over the carpet and looked as tho the plaster from the walls had chipped away. Disgusting place we will not return.

We stopped for lunch when visiting the area. The pub is ok nicely decorated, large car park and overall the food was fine, you can't go wrong with scampi and chips but the cheese cake was strange as it was plain but had a marmalade topping. I took a trip to the ladies, it was filthy with empty toilet rolls, bins overflowing, paint peeling off the walls, and the toilet and sink hadn't been cleaned that day either.

We stopped off for a pint and bag of crisps after a long walk up Hutton Roof crags. Instead of crisps we were enticed by the Sunday roast, and went all out with starters too. Amazing food, more restaurant quality than pub grub, chef obviously has a real passion for what he does along with great talent. Luke looked after us so well, he's a great asset to the team, so friendly and chatty, made sure we had everything we needed. Tip- the roast beef dinner is the best!

We stayed here on our Lands End to John O Groats trip. The accomodation was lovely, clean and modern. We had a delicious roast dinner which was very welcome after the days ride. Most importantly, the staff particularly the manager couldn't have been more friendly, helpful and accommodating! Definitely would return.

Our huge gathering descended on this poor wee local pub and they coped admirably. Andy and his team (Amy and Lauren I think?) took us in their stride and greeted us with warmth and were friendly at every turn. We had buffet, a few of us had hot dinner and some had breakfast in the morning and it was all delicious! My room was clean and my bed was cosy on a chilly night. Thanks again to Andy and his team!

I went to the Kings Arms for an early tea after a long walk in the area. The atmosphere was warm and friendly with quiet a few customers already in, even at 17.00. I ordered the "chefs special" curry and wished I hadn't. I think it was chicken, which was covered in, what looked liked a gravy. It didn't taste like any curry I've ever had. It had a little chilli pepper, so it had a little warmth but non of of the other curry spices, like corriander, cumin, cinnamon or turmeric. Also, I'd seen a photo of a curry dish on their web site but this wasn't what I got. I certainly would'nt recommend this and at 14 pound it was very poor value.

We stayed here as our half way point from Cornwall to Scotland. The location firstly was perfect as it didn't take us off route. Then we were happy to see they had a good size secure carpark. Great place to let our dog have a little run around after a long journey. When we walked in everyone was super friendly and very helpful. We had dinner here wich was also very good. After having such a relaxed night we decided we would like to stay again on our way home. We opted for an upgraded room this time. Mainly so I could have a bath after a long couple of weeks of camping in Scotland. The room upgrade was well worth it, I couldn't of been more satisfied. Lovely hotel and lovely people. Would stay again. Thank you for everything you did for us 😊

This was our 2nd visit ( thought we would give it another chance. The pub has recently changed ownership and is definitely not as it used to be, the food is basically like pub chain food, no more large options of specials on the blackboards and definitely no home cooked food. Asked for bread with our food and was given what looked like the most basic white sliced loaf 2 slices no butter?? Even though we loved visiting this pub, we will not be going again Fr food.

We stayed 3 nights at the Kings Arms and ate in the restaurant every night. The staff are very friendly and there was a lively atmosphere. They have a small menu but cover a wide range of pub food: Pie, burger, fish and chips, curry, Mexican etc. Everything is well cooked and presented and we enjoyed everything we had. They do a prawn cocktail in a wineglass straight out of the 1970s, but do it really well! There are veggie options but not vegan and the addition of a really good salad would give it 5 stars. We highly recommend this good value restaurant.

Pre cooked mussels which were dry and not heated through with some being almost cold. Not knowing how long since the mussels had been cooked nor how they had been kept before being served is worrying. The sauce was piping hot however it’s obvious the elements of the dish had not been cooked together when one half of the mussel shell is hot and the other is cold. Indicative of microwave reheating done badly.

Our walking group of 16 people stayed at the Kings Arms for the weekend, with some of us accommodated in the hotel and some in the converted barn to the rear. Landlord and landlady Neil and Ann and all their staff were excellent throughout our stay. Rooms were fine, especially in the barn, food good and plentiful and service spot on. The bar had six different real ales on for thirsty types like us and the locals were very friendly. This was a proper pub that oozed character and individuality, a far cry from the blandness of the big chain hotels and pubs. Thank you Neil, Ann and staff for making our weekend so memorable.

We stayed here for 3 nights to break our journey home from Scotland and it was a lovely change from the motorway chain motels. This is a lovely old pub with rooms both in the main building and in the adjoining buildings at the rear. We stayed in the main building which was fine bearing in mind that this is an old building and to adapt it to the modern requirements of todays guests means compromise, in order to make use of available space . we were more than happy with our room and its facilities, but bear in mind rooms 1 to 6 are up two flights of stairs if you are less able. Pub serves food from a very good menu if you want to dine in the evening and breakfast was excellent with any variation on a full English available as well as cereal, fruit ,yogs, juices and the like. We received a warm welcome and the host was very friendly and only to happy to engage with you if you wanted without being intrusive. The pub is only just of the motorway but could be a million miles away, in a nice quiet village with a brilliant bus service north to Kendall and beyond and south to Lancaster, so we parked the car up and took advantage of the excellent service. All in all a great base to tour the area or for a stopover en route north or south and have no hesitation in recommending.

Arrived with a group of 3 couples, we had the room in hotel, our friends the 2 rooms in annex, our room in hotel was filthy, every sheet of wallpaper hanging off wall, bathroom discusting. Asked to be moved but told no other rooms. Had to stay as our friends rooms where fine, and we'd travelled a long way,Easter weekend and no other availability elsewhere, so didn't want to spoil weekend, asked for room to be cleaned, bar person said no staff and it would be done in the morning. Had some beers and food, which was OK. Woke up next morning to find silver fish in our bed!!Went to to bar to say we where all leaving as this was discusting, suddenly a room in the annex was empty and had been all night, to say we where gutted was an understatment. This place is not cheap. The annex rooms are lovely, modern, clean and with lots of little extras. Rest of weekend past without incident enjoyed rest of our stay. We had no apology. It was a visit to the Kings Arms that provoked me to create this account, and share with you the horrors of my experience. Myself, my wife and two children stopped off for a meal en route to visit family and were met by a condescending, unfunny and frankly rude gentleman, who we later discovered was the landlord. My wife was quite appalled by his downright sexist remarks and the children were suitably patronised. We thought that we would escape him whilst sat at the table, but the landlord decided to practically join us for the entirety of our meal, with what seemed like a never ending half pint of lager.

If you are on the M6 looking for somewhere to eat exiting at jn35, going via Burton in Kendal and returning at jn36 (or vice versa going south) adds few miles to your journey for food which is way better than the services between the junctions.

Literally a stones throw from my uncle's house and we've never had a bad meal there. Most recently I had Risotto, but in the past I've had various enjoyable pub classics. The bar staff are friendly and the fact we keep returning speaks volumes.

Phoned about 3pm in afternoon to see if had any space for 7 people the following evening. Woman on phone had no idea, had to check with her manager three times to clarify times and was rude each time. No 'please hold on one moment', instead just silence or 'erm wait a min'. Suggested 8.30pm was only time they could do (who in Cumbria eats at that time it's so late!?) then her manager said on other end no we can do 6.30.One of the guests is Vegan so asked whether they had any vegan options on their menu. She didn't even know what vegan was and didn't understand my explanation of 'like vegetarian but no dairy or eggs'. Her response was 'erm so no meat?'. I asked whether they would be able to accommodate the vegan guest and she said no. Most restaurants are very good and can make risotto, salads, soups, potato bakes or adapt their own menu without much hassle but this seemed to much for them.Needless to say we didn't book and went to The Plough in Lupton instead. Would highly recommend, the food was fabulous.

Phoned and booked table.Arrived for our meal a little early this was no problem.Very pleasant and helpful staff.Food very good well presented and very tasty.Asked if they did breakfast was told yes so booked breakfast for following day. After our experience we planned to call in for lunch on our return from Scotland Due to unforeseen circumstances we were not able to do this.If you are staying at Burton Travelodge and need a good meal ask reception for directions to this pub

I won't be writing anymore reviews about The King's Arms as I've been so many times and the food has always been consistently good. I am a picky person where food is concerned but can honestly say I have never been disappointed with the food here. The staff here are great, very helpful and polite. They even have an allotment on site to grow their own produce. So come on folks, it's worth the drive for excellent food.

The food here is (on our experience) always exceptional, especially the chips!Served in generous portions, everything on the plate is full of flavour.A real homely atmosphere to the place as well, would happily bring anyone here without fear of being disappointed.

Four of us went for a meal on New Years day and although it was around 4pm the pub was very busy. We managed to get a table in the beautifully decorated dining room. The landlord certainly enjoys being creative at Christmas time with his decorations. I had the sausage and mash, two of the party had rhea roast pork dinner ,and my wife had the smoked haddock. Very good sized portions and excellent fresh vegetables cooked just right which is very rare these days. None of us could fault the meals and the roast meals here are as good as you will get eating out. We all had desserts, bread and butter pudding, cheesecake, and lemon tart were all sampled and again they were very good and all homemade. The ice cream is particularly nice. This is the fifth or sixth time we have eaten here in the last 2 or 3 years and it has always been really good with good service and a very decent selection of real ales. The cost for 2 courses plus a couple of drinks each was 80 pOundle for the 4 of us. I think for the quality and quantity of food on offer this represents good value and I can wholeheartedly recommend the kings arms to anyone

Lovely lunch spot- Initially went to another pub which was very overpriced and stumbled across this gem in a small village. All 5 of us were impressed with our meals, may even be the best mashed potato I have ever eaten. The lamb shank from the specials board, fell off the bone and went down very well.

Popped into the Kings Arms during a long journey home for lunch. The welcome from the landlord was very warm and he seemed pleased to offer some food to get me home. I opted for the 10oz gammon steak with a brace of eggs and chips. (See attached photo). When the food arrived it was piping hot, juicy and well cooked. The chef had avoided the dreaded, over cooked and dried up gammon steak which is as tough as old leather. The Kings Arms seem to value their reputation for producing good home-cooked food. When this is combined with good customer service, you get regular repeat visit. Don't drive by, give it a try.

Barmaid wanted £36. I said, "£36 for two puddings and a pint and a half?" She immediately reconsidered. "It's £29.50.". She printed me a receipt and said, "You asked for extra custard. Life isn't free, sir." I had indeed asked for extra custard, for which I had only been charged a pound. But obviously, people who query bar bills in the Lakes are regarded as the lowest form of scroungers.

Tempted by window display. No prices displayed, shocked at prices. Asked if I wanted vegan sausage roll warmed. Outside was warm, middle stone cold. Stodgy, salty filling. Would have preferred a Greggs. Over priced and disappointing 😞
