Loverly meal, and great service.

A really lovely pub with friendly staff and great food! I often come here for business meetings with clients

Went there for a wedding reception the meal was 11 out of 10 very good staff a very nice buffet later on. A great venue

Went for lunch with the family. Charcuterie board was very disappointing, but the halloumi fries made up for it. Mains were very good including the duck salad which was the star. Served by Alen who was very attentive and polite. Shame about the flies as we were sat in the Pergola area and they didn't leave us alone once the food arrived.

Great atmosphere, friendly service, good choice of menu (including the specials) food was well presented and of good quality .....bad point for me ... the service was slow, after ordering, waited a good 20 mins or so for the drinks to arrive and our desserts had not been ordered (although we had ordered everything from the start)....again that said friendly service, good atmosphere, and good food 👍

Went here specifically to meet some friends and it was nice enough, a bit poncey really but then again it is in Chigwell Essex. And almost £15 for a larger and a G&T so if your planning on being here any about of time take LOADS OF MONEY. I wouldn't bother racing back there.

Just had a beautiful meal at this pub, would recommend! Food was excellent and at a very reasonable price. We were served by Zachery who went above and beyond to give us a great dining experience. Super friendly and welcoming. We will return :)

Poor service. Food was not the best. Breaded fish and chips, was small but bloody expensive. Didn't taste like the price. Service was very poor. Won't go there again.

Generic pub and Essex crowd. Ended up here on a Sunday afternoon with friends who wanted something to eat. The starter and main was okay minus and the dessert even less appealing.

Good food and they catered for my request on sauces, but you shouldn't have to wait over twenty minutes for the bill, especially having to ask a second time.

Had lunch 22 may only 2 tables to serve but kept waiting decided to have rotisserie chicken .on my way home my stomach was felling bad Had constant diarea for 14 days after going to a.n.e. i was taken to hospital my poo samples came back to my docter I was told I had campylobacter (food poisoning) I tried to speak to head office to stop anyone else going through what I did but they was not helpfull. I would not eat at this place if you paid me to.

Great cosy pub! We had a spontaneous lunch date here and the choices were great (we are vegetarian). Thank you to Zachary and Tarina- we loved the double espresso and crème brûlée after too 👌

It was my boyfriend’s birthday and I spoke to Andrew, the manager about if they do anything for people on their birthdays? If I could possibly arrange something special for him that was quiet and discreet as he would be totally embarrassed if the happy birthday tune was being sung in the restaurant! I wasn’t even sure if they could do that. Thankfully it was something they could do! Shortly after finishing our mains, Andrew allowed me to pick a dessert (in secret) and “Happy Birthday” could be written on the plate. My boyfriend was pleasantly surprised when it arrived and I was so happy for him. He has never experienced it before! Mya was also our waitress for the evening and delivered great service. The starter (sharing Camembert) and our mains (Pan roasted lamb rump and steak & malbec pie) was absolutely delicious too! 👌 Thank you so much! We will definitely be back!

Alan was an excellent server and face of King William 1V. He was informative and had great knowledge of the menu and wine list. We were a table of 4, I ordered the sea bass, and the rest of the group ordered the trio of roast. The food was delicious, desert however caused consternation on which cocktail to have with it. Please note when booking to ask if you wish to be seated near the bar at the front. Also, they have a time limit on tables of two hours.

Often come here for a peaceful beer and occasional food in the afternoons - Dave the bar man who’s always here is fantastic at customer relations and service never stops making sure everything is fine and comfortable plus always has good conversation a top fellow with customers at heart… Thanks to Dave making the King William again an inviting place to drink and eat 👍🏻

Brilliant meal. First class service by Jo. A very enjoyable and excellent value for money evening.

Our waiter was great during a busy (and over subscribed at 225 covers) Mothers Day which was partly expected. Starters were good but Mains were average. Pork belly was very very fatty (two sent back) and the meat under was over done and very tough. Dessert was average. Cheese and biscuits desperately need new biscuits. Drinks were fine. Live singer started off at a good volume then got stupidly loud where people could barely hear each other across the table. Sadly our last visit to the King Will for food - it used to be so good!

The food was absolutely amazing. unfortunately as friendly as the staff were... our meal took over 3 hours!! we had keep asking for the next lot of food. keep being told its being plated up and nearly another 25min to 40mins wait between food. just too long of a wait.. I don't want to be rushed but shouldn't need keep asking. our desert eventually arrived and the mains hadn't even been removed.. was such a palava trying balance all the plates so the waitress could put desert down. then the easiest desert of just ice cream never arrived with the other deserts.. another 10min wait. I'd love return but this has put me off. we went on a Saturday for 3pm so it wasn't even crazy busy.

Today I took my mum and Granddad to the King William for a Mother’s Day treat the food was amazing and he atmosphere was great live music and the waitress Orphee was so polite and friendly along with Wendy who made our visit extra special can’t thank them enough. In the words of my grandad “ the best meal so far of 2024”.

Attended the funeral wake of a dear friend. Wendy, Dave and the staff could not have been more helpful. Wendy had gone above and beyond in order to facilitate the smooth running of the day. I cannot stress how kind and thoughtful Wendy was in the event planning, nor how helpful Dave and the staff were. The buffet food laid on was also first class.

Having booked a table for 3 people over a week prior - we arrived dead on 1pm for our table to find it was in front of the fire which was u bearable I asked one of the waitresses and then the manager if we could move he was rude and said no we are banged out. After much heated discussion he found a table but there was time limit if 2 hour 2 mins . Disgusted but the customer service I would not return Below shows how banged out they were

We had a Zachary serve us today. His professionalism knowledge on Food and advice was spot-on. He’s a great asset To the King William IV. He really made my experience so comfortable. He was so friendly and polite. Honestly, I cannot praise him enough. He informed me of the new dish on the menu, for vegetarians like a steak which I’ve never tried before it was so nice. Truly enjoyed it. Zachary made our experience a really good one. Totally appreciate his patience while we were ordering and tried to pick the right dishes.

The food was cold, vegetables was hard whole meal was cold including the desserts was cold.I wanted to tell the waitress but couldn’t catch her to say the foods were cold. I was disappointed of the quality of the foods. The service was very slow and the poor staff were running around trying to help and serve people. The waitress was nice and helpful trying her best but it was impossible for her. There was not enough staff.

Food was good (7/10) and that was the only positive. Service very poor and terribly slow. We had to ask for drinks, for food and for the bill - not at any time did one of waiters come to the table without being prompted. None seemed to be aware of what was going on in the restaurant. I booked there because I received a “50% off mains” voucher, therefore you must have been aware of this, via the porthole in which I booked - standard app recognition software. However, when it came to pay I was told I had to produce the "QR code" (sorry no "QR code" - can't scan without the "QR code” etc etc – a phrase said to me several times!) Don't get me wrong, I don't care about the £18 odd I would have saved, it was the extremely poor customer service, non-existence of customer care and the poor handling of the situation. Even the couple on the next table were astonished. It’s the principle involved! Knowing what a struggle it has been for many businesses following Covid (and still is for some) I would have guessed some thought would have gone into the situation - it sadly and disappointingly didn't!

Restaurant was short on staff the day I visited but generally not a problem. Food has always been of good quality, drink service was very slow.

Our table was in a semi private area so that we could chat without annoying other visitors; our server Annetta was very friendly and helpful throughout our visit; the food was good!

Great food. Sadly had one change to pre booked meal, but was quickly sorted out by our waitress Annata (probably spelt incorrectly, my apologies). Annata was superb, attentive, chatty, professional and friendly. All in all it was a great boxing day experience. We weren't rushed, and ended up being there much longer than expected. Service was terrible and staff were rude and need skills how to work in the hospitality business. Had to wait ages for drinks and food to be served kept asking the staff when the drinks and food was coming. I had pre order the food. They wanted us to sit straightaway but took 30 minutes to even come to the table to ask what drinks we wanted. Went to bar to get drinks as quicker. The place was not busy and was very disappointed. Been coming every year to King William and will not be going back for food. Fish was hard on the base of the cod. It is a shame as it has been a lovely pub over the years. Toilets need to be cleaned more regularly as they were disgusting.
