We were staying nearby in hotel on staycation, first bar meal in over a year and it did not disappoint. Everything was hot and home cooked. Staff and landlord welcoming. We ordered: Cheesy garlic mushrooms Steak and ale pie and chips. Curried chicken rice and chips. Kids chicken nuggets and chips. Kids lasagne and chips. Chocolate fudge cake/ ice cream. Ice cream was so creamy it was really nice! All meals were delicious. Loved the old fashioned pub exterior. Would recommend. Food came quick. No photos sorry we were too busy tucking in.

Delicious home made food. I ordered the steak and ale pie and the chips were delicious as was the pie. My husband had fish and chips and it was the biggest fish he’d ever had. The owner told us he got the fish fresh from Grimsby a few times a week. Friendly attentive staff and I loved how it was ran by a friendly family who cared about the business. Overall lovely pub food- well worth a visit.

My wife and I had a drive out to Scawby Brook nr Brigg, our purpose was to have Sunday lunch at the lovely old King William. for it's always a pleasure visiting this top eating place, the welcome is always special, with the food being the same. we both had the roast beef (melted in your mouth) and trimmings. In this lovely old pub/restaurant, you enjoy a warm friendly atmosphere whilst seated in the comfy old pub area or the cottage style restaurant. There was 4 starter choices along with 4 Sunday lunch choices, with many sweet choices too. absolutely spoilt for choice. well done again Vida , Pete & staff. look forward to seeing you again soon.

King William 4th,Brigg.what can I say. We booked a table for 6. Wish we hadn't. Wish we had gone to McDonald's instead. Service would been better. We were seated at a table that would have been perfect for thd 6 of us. The looks we got from the locals suggested we weren't welcome. We were sat in The Snug. Apparently its where 'The Locals' like to sit and drink. We were told we would be moved to another table for this reason. Even heard the locals moaning about where we were sat. When we were moved, our food came, which was mediocre at best. I say, our food came. Not all of it. They forgot to cook my wife's scampi at all. Hers came as most of us were nearly finished. Hardly an apology, and no offer of a refund, or free drink. Just 'The chef forgot to cook it'. It's scampi. Hardly diffucult to get wrong really. Service was abismal. Locals were rude. I'd rather have sat on the street outside with a burger. Won't go back. Ever. This hovel is only for local people. The End

today was different. A male friend and I meet here every two months or so. The landlord is often curt, but the food is good and we enjoy. Today we sat down in the restaurant but were politely asked by the wee waitress if we had booked. No we said. (Last time we booked we were the only people in the restaurant). We were directed to the bar, where the proprietor was leaning on the bar. 'have you booked'. No, we said. There was obviously no big deal as the only tables occupied were a table of 6 ladies. 'Well as you are here you can stay'....or similar words from the landlord. WHAT A WELCOME!! We were them regaled with the story of the night before when apparently 80 people were in the restaurant, The chef was away and the landlord's wife had to cook. Not sure what relevance this had.

After choosing my meal " homemade tender steak and ale pie" with chips and peas, gravy it arrived at first glance I thought I must of ordered a kids meal by mistake with the size of it £10.95 it cost. This was a special birthday for my mother and some of us had travelled from the north-east and London to celebrate. We had a warm welcome and very good service from the staff; no long waits despite it being a busy Sunday lunchtime. The meat-eaters in our family enjoyed their roast dinner, but the vegetarian meal was rather a let-down. When my mum had enquired about the vegetarian/vegan menu, it was suggested that we phone in the week before to speak to the chef. I did this on Thursday and the chef offered to make us a lentil and vegetable bake, which would have been lovely. However, what we ended up with today was a dish of overcooked somewhat soggy pasta with a bit of tomato sauce and a little veg - no lentils. I at least had cheese on mine; the vegans amongst us didn’t have this so their meal had no protein.

Lunchtime eating is a hit and miss affair nowadays, with many pubs offering a poor choice of badly made food or even stopping daytime menus altogether. So it is refreshing to find a pub making the effort to serve a decent weekday menu, and the food served being of good quality and with ample portions. Access is good, an adequate car park, welcoming staff and reasonable value - I would go again.

We went for Sunday lunch on the recommendation of a friend. The meal was not worth the money we paid for it. The meal consisted of two smallish pieces of pork that were well cooked with absolutely no taste and no crackling. We both had to salt the meat to get any taste at all. The rest of the plate consisted of a small portion of cold lumpy mashed potatoes, two dried up roast potatoes and an over cooked Yorkshire pudding. The vegetable tray had white cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, frozen peas and had to be sent back as they were cold. The lunch was similar to that you would be served in a hospital or old people’s home as it was colourless and tasteless. The drinks were also very disappointing. A warm and flat tonic and a pint of Abbot that was cloudy and tasted of vinegar that was undrinkable. Overall a very disappointing experience.

He is very rude to his staff often shouting at them in the middle of the restaurant embarrassing them for no reason at all he took no responsibility for anything including a big table which had vegetarians on it. He refused to serve them any food and it is out of order. I wouldnt bother giving a tip as the greedy boss takes then from his lovely staff and keeps them for himself. It was a last minute choice. And we made a mistake the food was far from up to standard the drinks were flat and they replaced them with another flat drink . All we said you must be having a bad day!

Called for lunch on a Saturday after visiting Brigg Garden Centre. TripAdvisor recommendations were spot on! Extremely well presented and comfortable interior with a warm and friendly reception to match. Food prices and choices were what I'd call typical for a traditional English pub and the quality was great. Keep it up people, we'll be back!

A late Sunday afternoon visit with a group of friends proved the King William IV to be a great choice. The menu offered quality choices to suit all - the fish and chips, in particular, getting a resounding 'thumbs up'. The staff were friendly and attentive, with nothing being too much trouble, and the surroundings homely and relaxed. Well-located, in particular from Jnc 4 of the M180 / A15, with parking on-site.

We found this pub on the CAMRA good beer guide, and as the menu was considerably more reasonable than the one at our hotel, we decided to venture out to the pub. When we entered there were only a few other people in the pub and we asked if we were okay to have some food. The lady behind the bar said she’d have to ask the chef, which stuck us as a bit strange as it was only 7:45pm. The chef said he was happy to cook us food and we ordered. Food came out and was very generously portioned, hot and tasty! Having worked in pubs and understanding the way small pub kitchens work I was very surprised by how good the food was and would definitely return.

Tipped off by friends about King William IV, Scawby Brook, nr. Brigg, N Lincs, we decided to arrange a Birthday dinner for 10 guests on 2nd Sep-17. We were not disappointed. The staff were very helpful, served a round of drinks on arrival and showed us to our seats in the small restaurant. The menu was as expected with a good choice of starters & mains on offer. Starters to look out for were the garlic mushrooms and the black pudding. Recommended main dishes are the Fish & chips, the Salmon, Hunters chicken and the Steak & Ale pie. I'm sure that other dishes on the menu were of similar quality. It was Saturday evening and the bar was busy but the restaurant was not completely booked up. This allowed staff to cater well for our needs. Deserts were good too and the Strawberry cheesecake, spotted dick, treacle sponge and chocolate fudge cake were popular for our group. They even produce their own branded ice cream to add to deserts if custard or cream is not your favourite accompaniment. With drinks we averaged £20-£25 p.p. Steaks or a mixed grill would have pushed this a little higher but based on our meal it would probably be good value for money. All in all very satisfied with Kin William IV and we shall be back!

been here four times and it's always been nice although never had the table that we asked for. The staff have always been most helpful but the landlady has never been there before, wish she was away on this occasion as well, she embarrassed us and a disabled person would be in the way ,they don't have any reserved signs on the tables because for some unknown reason they can't use them. and the meal on this night was well below standard. so be warned if you have mobility problems

We had heard good things about this pub/restaurant. We arrived at about mid-day on Bank Holiday Monday. The pub was empty except for one drinker. When we said we would like to eat, the barmaid told us they had 50 people coming in shortly, but she would ask the chef. He said he could cope and we were welcome. We thanked him and sat down. Then it got weird.

Went with my wife, mother and her sister, reasonable place, the host kept apologising (unnecessarily) for keeping us waiting, she seemed short staffed, but this wasn't a problem for us, we were not in a rush. Drinks came, but she forgot the water - my wife managed to find someone who gave her a bottle - we did get an apology at the end and they didn't charge us. The food was reasonable, except the King William Burgers that my wife and I had - when you attach the name of the restaurant to a dish it should be a signature dish, something special - that it was not. The roll was far too small for the two burgers between it and the burgers tasted like something you buy at Tesco as a cheap own-brand - they tasted cheap - my advice would be to either make them yourself, or at least find a good farm shop or butcher - you could add a couple of £'s to the price to maintain your margin - but don't serve poor quality food - and if you do then don't make it your signature dish - this rather spoilt the meal for me and my wife. The desert was lovely - the ice cream was very nice. Shame really - we would go back - but avoid the burgers would be my advice!!!!

We drive past this place & have only ever had a quick drink, so when we decided to have an impromptu "tea out" we popped in. Despite being a Friday night they accommodated us without fuss. The dining area is to the rear with a cosy bar at the front of the pub - fairly open plan but retains some character (it's not a large establishment but doesn't feel cramped). The menu was reasonable priced & there was plenty of choice, we shared a huge combo for 2 which was good. Our mains were rib eye & a double burger. The steak was very tender, I'm not a lover of chips, mostly because they are often the pre-processed frozen type - but these were hand cut, freshly made & were the best I've had in years! So much so I let the waitressing staff know & she passed my praise on. The burger too was home made, stacked high & tasty. The service we received was very good, friendly & the only down side was of our own making. We didn't allow ourselves enough time to fully enjoy our experience - we definitely plan to return & I can see this place not being somewhere we drive past anymore! We look forward to returning & quite fancy a Sunday lunch sometime.

Cinnamon , formerly Jubraj . Party of 8 to celebrate wifes 80th birthday . It was early evening and quiet but food and service excellent. Two of our party asked for dishes not on menu and this was easily sorted. Food tasty and plentiful , everyone agreed best Indian food they had had for ages , this included 4 of our Irish cousins visiting for the birthday . Nothing was too much trouble for head waiter , who was helpful in dish selection and had a good sense of humour . Will be visiting again very soon.

Reading the reviews we thought we would try...we found it quite expensive for the products your served, breakfast was not great cheap sausages ,over done bacon , paid extra for toast , could just do with some background music on in such a big dining area On plus side was clean and tidy.
