Great vibe. All the fire in the kitchen super nice. Smelled amazing. Waited for 2 hours to get a table. Not a problem. Waiting an hour inside while we were told our table was almost ready also no problem. Helped build the excitement. Once seated got rushed a bit. Most of personel friendly. Food went from insane to mwoa from dish to dish. Chicken insane but was mostly cartilage and bone. Great smokey flavour tho. Sai Oua was great. Greens also great. Smokey and unique. Jungle curry was a bit dissapoiting. Again mostly bones and head. Fookin spicy but thats why i ordered it. Good pricing, but while i ordered one last beer i got the bill shoved in my face and got a cunty remark from the bar guy that kinda pushed us out. After waiting a total of 3 hours we only got to spend 45 min inside. Also got charged for a dish that never came. The build up might have given me a bit of a unrealistic expectation but the bar guy ruined it for me. Rest of personel nice.

Very disappointing. We waited for over two hours, and when we were finally seated, we were told they had run out of several key items on the menu—including the clay noodles. The wine was served in a refillable bottle rather than its original packaging. A very poor service overall, if they can’t provide the full menu and a good service, they shouldn’t be offering tables as late as 11 PM.

The Restaurant is located in the heart of Soho, it is a restaurant that takes Thai cuisine to the next level with a rustic and authentic approach. The restaurant is famous for its open kitchen, where the chefs led by a Head Chef prepare dishes over an open fire, cut meats and vegetables, practically everything next to you, giving us customers an engaging culinary show. The quality of the food is unquestionable. The dishes are deeply inspired by the traditions of northern Thailand, with intense and spicy flavours. Among the most popular specialties are the “Clay Pot Glass Noodles with Tamworth Belly & Brown Crab” and the “Smoked Sausage with Turmeric”. Each dish is prepared with fresh ingredients and aromatic spices, creating balanced flavor combinations full of character and once in your mouth, it will give you an explosion of flavors on the palate. However, the portions may be a little smaller compared to the prices. The place is very small (although in my opinion, this makes it more fascinating and unique) and limited, in addition to the counter they have 2/3 tables in the room downstairs, (but I wouldn't recommend it) which may not be ideal for those looking for a relaxed and intimate dinner. The atmosphere is energetic and can get quite noisy, especially during rush hour. The staff is very helpful, but at busy times the service can be slow. Despite this, the waiters are attentive and ready to give advice on dishes and flavor combinations. Reading on the internet, I saw that the klin was awarded the Bib Gourmand by the Michelin Guide for its excellent value for money, even if some prices are slightly high compared to the size of the portions. (On the plate of chicken and sausage). In conclusion, the Kiln is a perfect destination for lovers of authentic Thai cuisine, with a focus on strong flavors and traditional preparations. It is particularly recommended for those who want a dynamic culinary experience and are not put off by a somewhat chaotic environment. If you are looking for a quiet dinner or generous portions, I recommend wandering around there, the area offers an infinite number of alternatives.

We were excited to try the Clay Pot Baked Glass Noodles because we’ve seen so many glowing reviews about it, but they don't do it anymore. Apparently, they change the menu every month, and I wonder why they would remove the popular dish from the menu. We tried their Northem Thai Herbal Soup of Stream Farm Hen which was just not good and super spicy. Their starters are good but everything is very pricey for the quantity you get and the place is very small and full of people.

Please don’t give into the hype! My friend and I went on Thursday evening and arrived at 6:30pm. We are 5th in line and were absolutely fine with waiting for 30/45min as we knew it was walk ins only. We finally made it to the front and the waitress told us the queue was actually to get your phone number on the waitlist. She then said it was another 1.5h wait (we later found that this wasn’t even the case and it was longer) and that she would text us when the table was ready. As we had already waited and were excited to try this place, we agreed and went away with no complaints. We came back and were told our table still wasn’t ready but that we could wait inside. The restaurant is so horribly cramped and we weren’t even asked if we wanted a drink while waiting when other people were. By that point, the only reason we stayed is because we had wasted so much time already that we felt it should be for something. Food was nice - yes but that’s honestly as far as I’d go. It wasn’t spectacular and it certainly isn’t amazing enough to justify a 3 hour wait time. Service was slow and the atmosphere is cramped, dark and smokey. There’s seriously so many other intimate spots with a nicer vibe THAT TAKE RESERVATIONS.

At the end of your meal if it’s late enough and the staff have a moment they’ll ask you how the it was. The reality is they already know. Nothing comes out at the same time only when it’s ready. You’re met with consistent surprises with every dish. You have never eaten anything like this. Kiln might be the best dining experience in london Highly recommend. Hugely overrated. The staff were slow and not attentive, the food came out sporadically. The atmosphere was ok but cramped. The food itself was very dissapointing cold rice, curry was tastless other than spice and the crab curry was full of broken shell. I was excited to go here but will not be coming back.

Good experience at Kiln. The team is amazing and friendly; kitchen, bar and waiting staff were polite and very attentive. Food was good but not great as some dishes were bursting with flavours and some others were just ok. Oysters, noodles and chicken were top tier but bavette and crab stew felt like strangers in a good menu in terms of flavour and size. The cocktails were very good for their price (8,50). Get prepared to be pushed a bit during rush hour if you sit on the bar as the space is a bit tight but you get to have great view of the open kitchen theme.

I visited hoping to enjoy both the food and the preparation process, but unfortunately, the place was full, and we were seated downstairs—right next to the toilet. Not exactly an ideal dining atmosphere. Now, onto the food. With all due respect, it was completely bland. The rice had no flavor whatsoever, and the chicken was shockingly undercooked—so much so that it was still bloody inside. I understand if certain meats are served rare, but raw chicken, however, is unacceptable. To make matters worse, the only sauce provided was basic and uninspired, adding nothing to the dish. Overall, this was both my first and last visit. The restaurant is extremely overrated and overpriced, with food that fails to meet even the most basic standards. Definitely not worth the hype!

We went on a weekday at 6:30PM and had to queue for over 2.5 hours—way too long. Honestly, the experience wasn’t worth it at all. The food is overpriced for Thai cuisine, and it doesn’t seem like they use authentic ingredients or seasonings. The Laap Spiced Crystal Prawn was especially disappointing. It wasn’t fresh at all—just deep-fried to the point where it felt more like a cracker than actual prawn. And for £16? Definitely not worth it.

It’s a nice little spot with great atmosphere, we went on a weekday just after lunch and were able to get a walk in table for 2 quickly. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype and rave reviews. The grilled Denver was quite chewy and hard to enjoy despite how flavourful it was. The crab curry was not worth the price for how little crab meat you actually get, it was almost laughable that you pretty much justgot “the essence” of crab in the curry.

I have been coming here for many years, and it used to be consistently good. I always preferred lunch as the music was more subdued / less of a frenetic atmosphere. Sadly, on my lunch today the music was very loud, to the point of being uncomfortable. I thought I knew the spice levels of the dishes, but some have changed and are now inedibly spicy - they should really warn customers, as they used to. I could hear the people I was sat next to also struggling with the same dish lol. Sadly, as some other reviews have commented, most dishes were over-salted, which didn't used to be the case. I was charged £24 for one of the dishes, but it was listed as £22 on the menu... I didn't want to make a fuss and ask for the menu to check, but I noticed on my way out. oh well! Not sure I'll be back : (

Went on a busy Sunday night. Enjoyed our meal. Nice grilled chicken and glass noodles. Crab curry disappointingly salty, hard undercooked veg. Overall too salty for our taste and nothing wow so wouldn't recommend the 45-90minute wait. Lively fun atmosphere with great music. Though agree with others it's cramped with people waiting for seats with their phones and limbs jabbing your back you while you eat. Not recommended for vinyl lovers as records change very suddenly with sticky fingers :( Tepid and rushed service, hard to communicate. Overall - ok food and felt like a place that was more about optics and style over food/service.

I'll start by saying I can't fault the food and it deserves all the hype. HOWEVER, I don't think they should be doing this no reservations thing when they clearly don't have the systems in place to make it work. We were told we would have a table at 7.30, got a text at 7.20 to confirm and telling us to head over to the restaurant. We got there 5 mins later and didn't get seated until gone 8pm, and only got offered a drink shortly before that. We didn't manage to order until almost 9pm. There's simply not the space in the restaurant to have so many people standing about waiting for a table, so it just seems a weird choice. We also would have been fine with waiting in the pub an extra half hour for the table to actually be ready. I did say at the time 'no matter how good the food is I don't think I'd put myself through this again', but I have short memory, and the food was very good. Maybe we came on a bad day, but there's no shame in going back to taking reservations if this new-age no booking thing isn't working for you.

Came in around 5.45pm on a Wednesday and there where still quite a lot of seats available. However, shortly after we were sat, a queue formed, so I would recommend going between 5-6pm. Also note your entire party needs to be there before you are sat. There are only 2 vegetarian dishes (apart from the rice) on the menu: the stir-fried greens and the bitter leaf. However, upon noticing I was vegetarian, I was offered an off-the-menu yellow curry with aubergines and pumpkin. The stir-fried greens were definitely the highlight for me, and the yellow curry went really well with the jasmine brown rice. 3 vegetable dishes with a side of rice were a pretty substantial meal and I didn't leave hungry. My friend ordered the chicken, rump and clay pot noodles and really enjoyed them, but said they were quite spicy. The atmosphere is super cosy and I liked the counter-seating, but the restaurant is quite small so you might have people bumping into your back when they're walking past.

I stopped by Kiln in London for lunch after hearing great things about it. The restaurant had a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. Here’s what I tried: - Clay Pot with Brown Crab Meat: 9.8/10: The glass noodles baked in the clay pot were perfectly cooked, with incredible flavor from the brown crab meat (possibly crab roe?) and a hint of citrus that made it irresistible. The price was excellent given the quality, portion size, and location. A must-try dish! - Yaw Skewer: 10/10: The best skewers I’ve ever had. The aged yaw was packed with flavor, and the skewer itself was unbelievably tender. This is an item I would eat every day. - Grilled Mackerel: 8.3/10: Well-grilled horse mackerel that stood out for its freshness, as mackerel can sometimes have a fishy taste. Overall, Kiln delivered a fantastic lunch experience with standout dishes like the Clay Pot and Yaw Skewer.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this amazing restaurant, and I must say my experience was taken to a whole new level by the outstanding customer service. During my visit, someone accidentally took my coat, but the staff went above and beyond to assist me. The waiters were incredibly kind, understanding, and proactive in helping me. They immediately took action by tracking down the person who had mistakenly taken it and even contacted them on my behalf, keeping me updated every step of the way. To my delight, they successfully retrieved my coat, which was already a huge relief. But they didn’t stop there! As a gesture of goodwill, they offered me a complimentary meal, which was completely unexpected and incredibly generous. On top of all this, I’ve always loved the food and ambiance of this place, but after this experience, I’m even more convinced that it’s one of the best spots around.

The restaurant offers great examples of Thai cuisine and the atmosphere is very relaxed. Taking into account my wife's allergy to fish, the staff adapted the menu options very well and offered us a nice experience. What we ate was very delicious: - Aged Cull Yaw & Cumin Skewer: Great start! Tender meat and spices are in perfect harmony. - Slow Grilled Chicken & Soy: The chicken was very delicious, cooked soft and with an intense taste. - Clay Pot Baked Glass Noodles with Tamworth & Brown Crab Meat: This was a really delicious choice. Noodles and seafood are in perfect harmony. Definitely the right address for those who want to try Thai cuisine! Note: I would prefer to sit upstairs, the ambiance is much better. We had a really lovely evening here. We came on a Monday, arrived around 6pm, waited maybe 10 minutes in the que to be added to waitlist, popped over to local pub for a drink & in less than an hour we were in. Now onto the food: Tom gave great recommendations, our highlights being the Rump Mutton Laap, the Glass noodles (a must) and the Winter Greens. Everything else we had was delicious, but spicy, however this was our fault for pretending we had that kind of tolerance. Thought the playlist was very cool and the overall atmosphere is very warm and familiar. It was a pleasure to be sat opposite the Sous Chef, if I heard correctly I think his name was Ruben & to have him explain the dishes to us. Thank you for a lovely evening !

I don’t know what to say about Kiln but for a place so popular I don’t understand why they haven’t addressed the awful logistics. I work in a restaurant that with the same number of chefs serves roughly 150-200 a night and at kiln they were struggling to serve a seating of 20. We had to wait 2 1/2 hours for a table to only then be ignored for half an hour. We were starving at that stage. The place was so full of people waiting for a space making it hard for the waitress to serve anyone. She looked on the verge of tears. We asked for tap water 4 times and it finally came but without glasses to drink it with. The food came in dribs and drabs meaning I got my curry but had to wait another 30 minutes for the accompanying noodles whilst my friend got her rice but had to wait ages for her veg dishes. We didn’t see the waitress for 30 minutes at a time. One dish we waited 45 minutes to then say the kitchen was having a glitch. We cancelled it and asked for the bill. We’d had enough torture by this stage. No one came to take payment so eventually we put our coats on to go and pay at the front at which point they came with the last dish that we had already cancelled. Such bad communication between staff. For a place where the food is so amazing, which it really is, the flavours are banging and eye-popping, however, I can’t believe that they don’t understand that they need a different space. They would do so much better with a bigger space where floor staff can actually give service. This was my second time here, but sadly it will be my last.

All the seats are around the bar which creates a really immersive experience and vinyls are played on their record player which creates a nice atmosphere. The food was really delicious. We started with the grilled chicken and lamb skewers which we had to order seconds for because they were so good. The atmosphere of the place is great, you have to wait about 1.5 hours for a table, but after signing up in the queue you receive a text message when a place becomes available. Unfortunately, the minuses were a weak starter (boiled chicken - medium) and a very spicy curry, which the service lady did not adequately inform us about. I know that food in Asia is spicy, but even when I was in Thailand, I was told it would be spicy and I advised you to be careful. I asked the waitress which curry she recommended, she said one was very spicy and the other was spicy. I took the less spicy one and yet I think it took away from the pleasure of eating. Normally, being informed about the high severity scale would have saved the matter and the experience. The pasta from the 3rd photo is very tasty. The menu changes often so I will definitely come back :)

Probably the best/most interesting meal I’ve had in London this year. All the dishes were chock-full of flavour, with top quality ingredients shining through the red-hot chilli punch that most dishes here seem to pack. Almost every dish was a hit and there were only minor disappointments: the Cull Yaw skewer was ‘sold out’ within 15 mins of opening, which made it feel like a marketing ploy rather than an actual feature of the menu. The cocktails were also a let-down. Full of flavour, yes but not nearly boozy enough for the price paid (the one glass of wine we had would not have been much to drink by itself but paired brilliantly with the food). Lastly I need to address the issue of the Jungle Curry dish. This was the most challenging dish I’ve eaten in a long time: seriously chilli-laden and full of vegetables I was unable to identify. The smoked fish with the deeply umami-infused broth was a revelation and this could just be the best dish being served in central London at the moment BUT it felt like very poor value for £14 given that it’s essentially a soup with a miserly piece kipper on top. Overall though, I would highly recommend this place if you want to get away from the endless variations on ‘brown’ plates of food served up in many of London’s eateries. The flavours here are seriously forward and impressive and the chefs are doing a top job with high quality ingredients. Just go (and arrive early to snag a seat!).

I am certainly glad I tried it after so many months of hearing the hype of it and seeing it be one of the most sort after restaurants in London. And I see how they are appealing to “foodies” and those who want to be part of the scene. Would I go again anytime soon? No. Not at least for a year. We had some nice dishes, including the rump cap, autumn greens, chicken and soy. Cooked very well. The shrimp relish was far too spicy, I saw other customers complain about it too. You couldn’t even tell if it was shrimp, it just felt like soggy breadcrumbs (or something like shredded paper) inundated with chilli, and some bitter greens with it that didn’t help counteract anything- the balance was really off. The sour curry was ok, but balance was off and it was really watery. Sticky rice, dry and like cardboard, and I’ve had far better at my local Thai places. Clay pot noodles, fine, but again just not sure what was particularly unique outside of glass noodles with some sauce and char based on the fire cooking. Good ambience and staff make an effort, but outside of people desperately wanting to be part of the scene, I’d say try once, tick it off, but find much more interesting and authentic Thai places where you don’t have to stand outside in the cold for an hour.

I can see the hype of this place. Not many places in London can replicate Southeast Asian street food, charcoal grill and all, and capture its simplicity yet tough execution. Our mackarel was amazingly tasty, as with the glass noodles; and the grilled chicken was sheer joy, which I can easily have everyday with some sticky rice. That said, Kiln isn't perfect either. I didn't know wtf heap of mess that duck laap was supposed to be. Unbalanced and disgusting texture. The old sheep cumin satay was slightly tough, and frankly, it wasn't up to par to an avg tokyo yakitori bar and not what one would expect. Kiln has some chinks in its armour, but still a nice place to head to when you can't get to Vientiane and sit by the Mekong. Service was laid back. Weird cacophony trying to be cool music from cheap speakers achingly agitates the ambiance. Try to sit upstairs instead and watch the show.

Food and drinks are decent. Especially skewers and slow grilled chicken. Keep taking to my friend how delicious they are when eating. The service was great until the very last moment when I encountered a series of rude behaviors while making the payment. I noticed an error on the bill, and after it was corrected, the revised bill was rudely handed just in front of my face. I attempted to tap “tap area” twice, but the card machine didn’t respond. My phone was then rudely taken away without permission to tap quickly. So far I was still trying to be considerate. Then the payment failed and I was about to switch to another card. When I just reached out to the receipt, the card machine was taken away quickly again. Throughout the entire process, there was no communication or explanation and it all happened so quickly with bad manners. Can’t tell if these are his intention. But I am sorry, I have to say those behaviors continuously ruined the whole experience.

I found this place online with many people recommending it and they weren’t wrong. I ordered the kebab, sausage, and clay pot; all were excellent. Definitely would recommend for great Thai food while in London.

We’ve always been a fan of this Thai-Asian fusion restaurant. The open kitchen adds to the vibrant atmosphere, and the menu is designed to encourage us to order tapas-style, perfect for sharing with a friend. Among the many dishes, the glass noodles are our absolute favorite. The menu is constantly evolving with the changing seasons, and the prices are very reasonable.

Southeast Asian restaurants recommended by KILN Michelin The main one was so spicy that it made me cry, but it was so refreshing. It felt like the chili peppers were all spicy from millet, and it was so spicy that it hit my forehead. The main dish is pork and it is half-cooked pork. I personally don’t like pork, let alone half-cooked pork, but his family is still good at making it. It doesn’t taste like pork. If you want spicy food to satisfy your craving, this is a good choice.

Heard lots of good stuff about Kiln and finally got a chance to visit. There’s no booking but we managed to get our seats pretty quickly. Love sitting at the counter and watching the chefs cooking with woks, grilling and the clay pots over charcoal. The highlights of the night were the glass noodles in clay pot and curry chicken livers. They are so good! My friend wasn’t a fan of chicken livers but she enjoyed the dish a lot. The John Dorry was alright, was expecting it to be more flavourful. Overall good service and would love to come back to try other stuff on the menu.

Kiln, nestled in the heart of Soho, is an unmissable destination for those craving bold, smoky flavors and an authentic taste of regional Thai cuisine with a modern twist. Known for its live fire cooking and commitment to quality ingredients, this Michelin-starred hotspot delivers an unforgettable dining experience. Ambience The atmosphere at Kiln is warm, bustling, and refreshingly casual. The open kitchen is the star of the show, with chefs expertly working over clay pots and grills, creating an enticing aroma that fills the room. Seating is predominantly counter-style, giving diners a front-row view of the action, which adds to the immersive and energetic vibe. Food & Drinks Kiln’s menu is designed to share, offering dishes that pack a punch in terms of flavor and spice. Start with the Northern Thai-style Sausage, a juicy, herbaceous delight, or the Aged Lamb & Cumin Skewers, perfectly charred and deeply satisfying. The standout mains include the Clay Pot-Baked Glass Noodles with Tamworth Pork Belly, a smoky, umami-rich dish that’s both comforting and complex, and the Jungle Curry of Aged Beef, which delivers a fiery kick balanced by layers of fragrant spices. For sides, the Stir-Fried Greens with Soy and Garlic provide a refreshing counterpoint to the richness of the mains. Pair the meal with one of their natural wines or a house-made cocktail to round out the experience. Service The staff at Kiln are attentive and knowledgeable, eager to guide you through the menu and accommodate dietary preferences. The service strikes a perfect balance between friendly and professional, enhancing the overall dining experience. Well made delicious fresh and really tasty. Food was great and I really enjoyed the simpleness of each plate. Staff were attentive very friendly and always present. So appreciated! Location was great, central London. Place was cozy ~ bar sitting only. Where I sat it was close to the grill, my face was very warm but no complaints since it was rainy and chilly outside. Enjoy myself.

⭐ Kiln Soho – A Thai Culinary Paradise ⭐ I can’t recommend Kiln highly enough! Having visited twice in one week, this restaurant has solidified its place as my favourite Thai dining spot in London. First Visit: A few years back, I first visited Kiln on a friend’s recommendation – her Thai fiancée, a doctor, had called it her favourite Thai restaurant. She wasn’t wrong! We were seated downstairs after a short wait, and the food was nothing short of spectacular. The Thai sausage was irresistible, the service was impeccable, and the team were attentive, well-mannered, and fun. It was an experience that stayed with me. Lunch Visit – Years Later: Fast forward to a few days ago: after a morning meeting, I couldn’t resist stopping by for lunch. This time, I was seated upstairs at the bar, directly facing the kilns and the grill. Watching the chefs in action was a highlight of my meal! I ordered: • Northern Thai Herbed Sausage – Still as incredible as I remembered. • Radish, Beetroot & Carrot Salad – Freshly prepared and vibrant. • Pounded BBQ Beef with Todoli Citrus – Absolutely sublime. Annalise, my host, was brilliant, helping me select the dishes. I also had the pleasure of watching Hartley’s first day on the grill – his skill was incredible. He even recommended his favourite – the BBQ beef. Second Visit That Week – Dinner with a Friend: A few days later, I returned with a friend. We arrived around 9:30 PM and waited about 45 minutes for a table. The wait, however, was enjoyable as we caught up over a glass of chilled white wine recommended by Patrick (I think that was his name). Once seated, the food was again phenomenal, with the same depth and layers of flavour that Kiln is renowned for. However, the sticky rice was slightly overdone and quite hard – something the lady seated next to me pointed out, and I had to agree. A minor hiccup in an otherwise exceptional dining experience. Kiln is more than just a meal; it’s a celebration of passion for cooking and dedication to excellence. The chefs take immense pride in their craft, and it shows in every dish. Must-Tries: • Northern Thai Herbed Sausage • Grilled Bavette with Smoked Chilli Glaze • Slow Grilled Mackerel The ambiance, the food, and the team’s warmth make Kiln a truly memorable experience. If you’re in Soho and love Thai food, this is the place to go. Enjoy your culinary adventure!

In my opinion, Kiln is worth the hype. The food and cocktails were delicious and the ambiance is top notch. The golden glass noodles are still living in my head rent free and the meat was all cooked to absolute perfection. My boyfriend and I were set downstairs where they have a couple of little tables, but it didn’t matter that we weren’t sat at the chefs table in the action, the food spoke for itself!! Genuinely one of my favourite spots in soho and they take 50% walk ins every night so go and try your luck!!

I decided to go Kiln because i had a recommendation from a friend. It was a first date dinner and the person i met has been so mamy times to Kiln and she used to love it. My experience was a nightmare. The waiter was so nice and professional and she suggested to have a drink before our spot was ready for us, 10/10 experience. Once we sat, we ordered dishes and something to drink. The wine was really and so it's the beer i ordered but the tap water was not even close to be drinkable, it tasted like chemicals. I like spicy food but the first meal we got was not eatable! Not even for native Thai! The other plates were just ok, and we even left food on the plate. My expectations were so high but i felt so dissapointed, i usually don't give such low stars rating but this time i really need to rate Kiln with 2*. I attach the few pics i took because after the second dish i lost interest in taking pics and our mood was ruined. Maybe it was just my experience, i hope guys who work there will improve the food and expecially the tap water!

Tried the Jin Toob with Miyagawa (meat was too tough), Slow Grilled Chicken & Soy (too bland), Laap Sausage, Slow Grilled John Dory (no flavor), Mackerel Salad, Sticky Rice, Three Pepper Jowl, and Radish Salad. Prices are reasonable but portions are on the smaller side.

Everyone that hyped up this restaurant… is lying. We ordered the soy chicken, thai sausage, clay pot noodle, red curry monkfish, and sautéed soy vegetables. the first three dishes ranged from decent to good, and we were happy to pay the price for those that we ordered. Our gripe really comes down to the last to dishes. The monkfish is £24 for two golf ball size pieces of meat. Understandably, monkfish is an expensive ingredient, however transparency is much appreciated when you are that comfortable charging your customers for that amount. The large gap in pricing also mislead us to believe it would be more substantial compared to the rest of the menu. the red curry seasoning was bold and vibrant but the monkfish was oversalted. This leads to my next point about the soy sautéed vegetables. It felt like these leaves were washed in salt water, marinated in brine, and cooked in reduced soy sauce. The salt was so infiltrated in every cell that even diluting the dish with fresh water couldn’t solve the issue. Although we didn’t eat this with rice, rice would not have helped either. I also suspect that the leaves were overcooked and limp. As an Asian person, I have had my fair share of sautéed vegetables, so it feels weird for trained chefs to mess up something so basic and ubiquitous to Asian cuisine. I think whoever designed the menu that made the dish to be this salty is egregious. We know this decision was intentional, as the staff had to warn other tables that this dish is salty. I feel like enough people had to complain about this issue for staff to become aware, and instead of listening to customer feedback, you still chose to serve bad food. I cannot in good faith recommend this restaurant to neither food lovers who are willing to pay the price for a novel culinary experience nor to those who are just looking for a decent meal at a good value, because Kiln is neither of those things.

The food was so nice but a bit too spicy for us.. The beer was so good! It was pretty light so it went well with spicy foods. Claypot noodle was my favourite menu. One waitress made a mistake of serving the food that we didn’t order, and there was a miscommunication when I told her that we didn’t order that menu. She walked away when I apologised and was trying to explain the situation. I’m pretty sure she didn’t intend to do it, but wasn’t a pleasant experience. The atmosphere was really nice but the background music was a bit too loud as we sat right under the speaker. Overall, it was a nice place for dinner!

I honestly don’t understand the hype surrounding Kiln. The food was far from what I’d call authentic Thai, and nothing we tried was cooked properly. Every dish we ordered was either underwhelming or poorly executed. It felt like they were trying too hard to be “innovative” at the expense of delivering proper flavours. To make matters worse, the staff were too arrogant to address our concerns. They seemed uninterested in finding out why we were dissatisfied, which made the experience all the more frustrating. Given the reputation this place has, I expected much more. Sadly, we left feeling disappointed and like we’d wasted our time and money.

We didn't have to queue, 12.30 on Sunday. We took the advice to order 8-10 dishes for our party of 4, to share. The portions were very small, barely enough for a taste of each. Even the rice portions were small. There were about 8 mussels in the mussel dish, tiny pieces of kipper in the kipper dish etc and we were left hungry. One dish was left out altogether as it was not brought to the table and it was possible to miss this as everything came out in random order making it impossible to know how to pace our eating. At £100 for 4 I was pretty disappointed and embarrassed for my guests, especially as the previous time I had visited I had enjoyed the experience.

All my high expectations of trying this place were dashed by the person taking reservations at the door. Once the queue was over (9pm), he informed us that the first available table would be after 1 hour and 45 minutes. When I pointed out that it would be 15 minutes from closing, he smiled at us with superiority. It's a shame, I hope that this negative experience of mine can be of help to others.

Crazy amazing food with incredible vibes. The energy in here is next level, everyone is having a good time. You enter into a dark space, and light and warmth coming from the kitchen of coals and grills. They really KNOW spice. We were a group of 4 asians and it was spicyyyyy, BUT a good spice. FLAVOURFUL. Also the meat was cooked to perfection. A gorgeous sear yet so tender. Cocktails were quite nice but would be better if it could have a little more attention, a little more depth to better match the journey that the food can take you on. We sat at the basement which was a little quieter and easier to talk. It’s a very loud space.

Overall experience was not worth for queue at all, it’s not about the amounts of portions, I’ve been to Laos , Thai, Yuannan multi time and what they got inspired from are well too basic, I couldn’t feel any connections from these places at all, they are not known to use the ingredients and seasonings for the dishes , most of the food are flat tasted. The person on the door was extremely rude to us. We arrived and there was a long line at the door. It was our first time there, and so we weren’t sure id the people were waiting to get their tables or to give their names. Someone from our group went to the front to ask the person if we should wait at the back of the queue or whether we give our names and come back later. The person responded something to the effect “you are wasting my time with this question, just stand in the line”. After our meal we mentioned that we found his behaviour very odd and rude to which he responded that he doesn’t care. His name is Rob and he claims he is the manager. The food was okay, but not worth the 2 hour wait. We were rushed to leave after 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Not worth the wait or the cost. Disappointed that there were no glass noodles on the menu. After waiting 30 minutes for a seat and another 40 minutes for the food, the grilled whole fish was decent, but the sautéed greens were overly salty. The seating area was extremely noisy and crowded, with people constantly standing behind me, waiting for tables and frequently bumping into my seat. This made the entire dining experience uncomfortable, and the stools added to the discomfort by straining my lower back. Service was great and friendly.
