Kias Pastaria in Sheffield

Really delicious food BUT the cost is outrageous. £18/£19 per pasta dish, and it’s all cash in hand…

Lovely meal here, delicious food, beautifully presented, nice attentive and friendly service. Not cheap (and only takes cash), but worth it.

We booked a table for 9.00pm but were waiting for over an hour before we got seated at our tsbke. A waitress came over to take our order at 10 mins past 10pm to find out the focaccia was not available and when we asked for bread and olive oil instead we were told this was not possible even though bread was available with other starters. Although we ordered 2 main courses it was obvious we would be waiting some significant time as some people who had been waiting since we first walked in were just being served their main course. Although it was a fairly busy Saturday night bookings should not have been accepted for 9.00 pm when it was clear those costumers would not receive their orders until well past 10.30. As a result we cancelled our order. We were looking forward to a nice meal and the reviews were very good but the service meant we never actually ate there

Gorgeous little restaurant in a great location. Spacious, calm but cosy atmosphere, great service and lovely food and drinks. We had the best focaccia! They had 3 x starters and 3 x main specials options, as well as the main menu. It is cash only which is worth knowing in advance, as mains are approx £20 each. Highly recommend!

We had a lovely meal a few weeks ago at Kia’s to celebrate some good news. It was our first time here, we had beautifully made food and a lovely bottle of wine. We were served by Barbara who was very warm and welcoming, and had great advice when we asked as we couldn’t decide what to order. I can’t wait to eat here again.

We love Kia's. The food is delicious, the service is fabulous and the atmosphere is relaxed. There's always specials on the board, and they are described in great detail by the staff. Never feel rushed & always have a lovely evening.

I adore Kia's! The only restaurant I trust for consistently excellent quality, taste, variety and atmosphere. Every aspect of the dining experience is perfect, an intimate venue, friendly and accommodating staff, everytime. Can't recommend enough, we would eat nothing but food prepared by Kia if we had the choice!

Kia's is my favourite restaurant, anywhere. The food literally never disappoints, and is very reasonably priced considering the quality. The staff / service is always top quality. Would recommend to anybody.

A sublime burrata starter, served with a poached and chilled, skinned pear, the burrata topped with delicately toasted pecans, dressed with swirls of aromatic honey and balsamic vinegar. A big starter but oh so worth it. I had to keep stopping to close my eyes and savour the contrasts on my plate. Nearly mugged the waitress for the next one out of the kitchen! Main course was 4 slices of supremely crispy pan-fried sea bass on a bed of wilted spinach, capers and pesto, accompanied by delicately cooked green beans, gently buttered and herbed. A tripod of king prawns dressed the plate, beautifully cooked, and presented, praying- mantis style! A perfection of potato dauphinoise, that kept me wishing for more, appeared mundane but hid a multi-layered taste, and a ginormous slice of Parmesan that I used as my post main course amuse-bouche. Contrasts of texture and taste throughout. And to round off my fantasy of food, a medium sized kilner jar with a twist on the classic tiramisu, a pistachio paste around the outside of the lowest layer, and topped with crushed pistachios. Spooning down through all the layers at once brought coffee, liqueur, sponge, cream hitting the tongue bam-bam-bam, one after the other. The current Mrs L ate piping hot button mushrooms in a mixed cheese sauce with a truffle compote accompaniment. Mushrooms crisp, cheese hot and tasty! A classic carbonara for Madame’s main, on her wedding anniversary meal, with crispy pancetta hiding under linguini coated with carbonara sauce. Fortunately the lucky lady was saving herself for dessert so guzzleguts got plenty of starter and main to taste in addition to his own. Finishing the Signorina’s special meal was a vanilla gelato with an almond cantucinni biscotti, perhaps a little light on vanilla, but a very pleasant way to round off the best meal I’ve had in ages. The biggest disappointment was the palate and mouth cleansing of the gelato, robbing me of the opportunity to re-taste perfection again as my tongue desperately sought morsels from between my teeth! When can we go again please????

The best Italian in the country! This place is an absolute gem! Everything I've eaten here is delicious, and the portions are generous. If you want homemade, thick stodgy, delicious pasta, look no further!

First visit here. Delicious focaccia to start with and then some of the best pasta dishes my partner and I have tasted locally. Mine was the ox cheek ragu her’s was the vegetarian bean pasta stew. The brownie was moorish and very gooey as it really should be. Very friendly and efficient service. Overall a very enjoyable early evening out.

Really cannot praise Kia's Restaurant enough. The starters and main were completely outstanding! Each dishes delicate flavours/ textures are cooked to perfection. One of the best restaurants in Sheffield, service is superb and attention to detail amazing. Every time we visit we feel welcomed and have the best dining experience possible.

I'll be picky as I am Italian, so read only if you want an authentic Italian opinion. This is a lovely place, with decent but not exceptional Italian food, and a quite pricey. I had the past with granchio and tiramisù for dessert). The pasta was good, the sauce was way too soggy and salty but at least it was a generous portion. Also, they gave us no bread... if you are Italian, you give bread (included in the price). Dessert: The tiramisu (very expensive) was.. interesting... but it was more like a coffee with some cream than tiramisu. It is served with pistacchio on top, which is really interesting and I found really a good combination, but the mascarpone cream was very little and just on top, the biscuit (savoiardi) was completely sogged in in coffee, and the two (cream and biscuit) were not well combined, they were just one on top of the other, and the coffee flavour was overpowering. The one I make at home is better in terms of combination and balance of flavours and texture. So that was disappointing. Service was good, very friendly so ok. However it was quite slow on a packed night, they were not very attentive with water, which was exacerbated by the salty food, and the non Italian personnel could learn to pronounce the name of the dishes at least. But the servers were really nice and friendly. And yeah it is cash only. Overall I think overrated, overpriced, not authentic as they claim.

Amazing food, well worth visiting. Portions are large but taste is not compromised at all. Ate our mains before even thinking about getting a picture because they smelt so good.

This was our first visit to Kia's but it won't be the last. We'd been planning to go for months and we weren't disappointed. The food was fantastic - really authentic Italian-and the service and staff briliiant, helpful and welcoming. Quick word for the chef-the sauce on the Salciccia was amazing! It’s so rare to discover a restaurant serving great food without a hint of pretension. We have just enjoyed a faultless meal out at Kia’s for our 8 year anniversary and will be finding any excuse to return. We opted to share the focaccia with balsamic and oil from the special board to start - this was almost brioche like in texture and absolutely delicious, sprinkled with flakes of sea salt and rosemary to finish. For mains we had a slow braised beef cheek ragu and a carbonara. Not to get too soppy about a pasta dish, but the carbonara genuinely made me feel like I was sat around my grandmother’s kitchen table again, which was a beautifully nostalgic experience. For puddings we had homemade vanilla gelato and a warm indulgent brownie. This is homely, comforting, honest Italian food cooked to absolute perfection. To top it off, service was faultless, there are crooner hits in the background and the coffee was great - cannot remember the last time we left a restaurant this satisfied. If it’s raining outside and you’re craving the perfect bowl of pasta, get yourself a table.

Kia’s Pastaria is a lovely restaurant. For starters we had Arancini x 2 and Fungi Al Dolcelatte x 1. For mains we chose Lasagna x 1, Granchio x1 and Branzino x 2. There was a limited specials board also to choose from. The food and atmosphere were nothing less than excellent. Shall visit again

We've now been to Kia's twice and would highly recommend it for a special occasion. We shared the two specials of the day and we're blown away by how tasty they were. The service was impeccable too

An excellent evening out from start to finish. Reassuringly short menu with a small specials board so nothing direct from the freezer into the microwave. Very happy with the time our meal took to arrive which meant that it been freshly prepared. Excellent food and delicious home made bread. House wine is good and the staff are both delightful and knowledgeable. I shall definitely return and no, I have no association with the restaurant. A very satisfied diner.

Still salivating, food was absolutely fabulous everything cooked to perfection. Service was flawless to boot, may only criticism would be the time between starters and mains was alittle too long but it was a busy Friday night. Will absolutely be returning and highly recommend 👌

Excellent food but very filling. Not a bad thing, just take it into account. Great relaxed atmosphere about the place. Can be busy so book ahead. Wine selection is obviously Italian based but some are very expensive. Valpolicella at £63 stands out. Be aware that this is a cash only restaurant. I'm not sure if there are any close by ATMs.

Lovely Italian restaurant- perfect for dates, of course with it being a pastaria there is really only pasta on the menu. Which we loved as the food was perfect but definitely would opt for somewhere with more choice in future. Staff and service is excellent however. It is cash only though.

First time at Kia's last night. Food was unbelievably good. All 9 in our party could not fault a thing. The service was 1st rate. The food even better. We'll be back.

Wow. It is really hard to find authentic Italian pasta in the UK that rivals what you eat in Italy. The crab linguine is amazing. The rest of the party all loved their food too. And the focaccia is so good that we asked for a portion to take home. If you love pasta, I would definitely recommend Kia’s.

A 10/10 meal last night after FINALLY visiting Kia’s, despite living 1 minute away from it for the last 4 years! There are so many choices on the menu, it took me ages to decide. I went with the Pesto Al Verde, which was fettuccine pasta with pesto, garlic, white wine and cream: topped with pine nuts, rocket leaves and fresh Parmesan. It was the creamiest pasta I’ve ever had, and it was divine. Great portions too. The staff were all so lovely and welcoming too. They couldn’t do enough. Excited to go back and try some more of the menu. Thanks for a lovely evening Kia’s!

Tasty but Quite expensive for portion sizes

Amazing food, not cheap but you get what you pay for. Everything that I've tried so far has been absolutely delicious. The staff are lovely and service is great. Book in advance if you can as Kia's is deservedly popular.

Went for husbands birthday treat and it was superb. This was our third visit and it’s got incrementally better each time. The ragu with gluten free pasta nearly beat me as it was a rich, very generous portion. I was brought up to ‘waste not want not’ so I finished it but could only manage coffee to complete the meal. The birthday lad enjoyed his lasagna too!

Beautiful food! We shared garlic mushrooms, arancini and home made focaccia bread for starters. Mains were 2 of the specials, slow cooked lamb with roast vegetables and prawn risotto, and 2 pasta dishes. All were cooked to perfection and the flavours were exceptional. Staff here are knowledgeable, courteous and very friendly. We'll be back!

We had the focaccia (bread), agnello (lamb), and veggie pasta. The service was informative and attentive without being intrusive to the evening. The focaccia was amazing, the lamb was perfectly cooked, and the pasta was delicious. Would recommend to anyone looking for good food and a lovely atmosphere.

I think this is my 3rd 5 star review for kia’s. Once again we are back and once again they did not disappoint. I went to celebrate my birthday with my boyfriend and it was incredible again. I had the crab pasta and he had the Calabrese. We loved them both equally so we kept swapping throughout the meal, we couldn’t choose a favourite. We had the focaccia to start as usual and it was gorgeous, probably the best i’ve had. we had the rocola salad to accompany our pasta and even that was worthy of the 5 star. The waitress was clearly new and young but was doing a fantastic job, very attentive and friendly. Already can’t wait to return.

Firstly the Food is unreal, I’ve been to Kias twice now despite living at the opposite side of Sheffield and it’s worth the trip. We went more recently to celebrate my wife’s birthday as a party of 5 including a picky 11 year old eater who was catered for brilliantly. We went off the back of a trip to Puglia and the food and vibe in the restaurant took us right back there it’s great I’d suggest booking at least a week in advance as there was never an empty seat in the place, people literally waiting at the door for a spot. There was never a hint of been rushed out despite the waiting people. Top marks will be returning.

The main reason that I am leaving this review is because the chef made the very best rissoto marinara that I've ever had, I'm 53 years old and travelled around Europe a lot. Chef kept it simple with perfectly seared scallops and king prawns, not just some random seafood mix. The al dente arborrio rice was spot on. It's not easy to get right but tonight's meal for me was magnifico 10/10 😋

First time I've been here and although I'm loathe to write this it was disappointing. We arrived to be told there was a staff shortage in the kitchen and staff training was being undertaken ( on a Friday night?) So expect delays. OK but perhaps a drink on the house or some complimentary bread and dipping oil would have been appropriate in the circumstances. Starters £7 for a small single portion of foccacia, not cheap at all. Pasta dishes served without anything else for the best part of 20 quid even in today's world is just too pricey I'm afraid. The lead waitress was excellent and doing her best in difficult circumstances. Another waitress actually questioned whether I should have parmesan on my pasta ( with seabass) which our table found amusing. The pasta was very tasty. Cash only? Sorry to be critical

What a lovely meal we had here! Lasagna and Ragu were both delightful and they make a delicious amaretto sour.

This is a really cute pastaria with a great selection of freshly made pasta. The food was great. We booked in advance - would recommend as we went on a weekend and so was quite busy. We found that the service was quite slow unfortunately, we only ordered a main course and drinks and we were there for around an hour and a half. There was a lot of waiting for food and the bill as well. We had to ask twice for this. Would recommend and would go again but probably a better experience midweek. Cash only.

This place only has 20-25 meals on the menu, and 3 or 4 specials on the blackboard, but it's all the better for it. The focaccia is superb!!! In fact it's too good. Be careful ordering this as a starter as you may find yourself full up before you even start. I had the calamari for starter (with the focaccia of course) and it was juicy and tasty. For main I had the crab linguine. Beautiful. The pasta melts in your mouth. The crab wasn't over powering but just on point. Smart move on my behalf was leaving some focaccia to mop up the sauce afterwards. I could say it was planned but the reality is I stopped eating the focaccia earlier worried about being able to eat the main meal 😲 The amarone they serve is one of the best at £63 a bottle. Be wary as it's 16% and can creep up on you quite fast Thoroughly recommend this place. It's superb!

Really, really nice place. Food exemplary, had to wait whilst it was cooked which seems strange these days, but it is freshly cooked, not microwaved. Staff great and knowledgeable. Can't fault this restaurant, planning to revisit to try other options on menu

Top-quality Italian cooking and a chilled but stylish ambience. We've not been here before but will definitely be coming again on the evidence of our meal yesterday evening. Two specials to share to start with - some exceptionally good sea-salt and rosemary foccacia with oil and balsamic, and 3 very tasty arancini's with tomato salsa. And then Jenny moved on to another special for her main - "Cozze", billed as a starter, but huge - a giant bowl of mussels in a fragrant and spicy 'nduja flavoured broth with white beans (& more foccacia). She looked very happy.... And I had a delicious dolcellate and wilted spinach pasta dish, with distinctively chewy pasta - a real treat. The parmesan is freshly grated onto the dishes at the table, the waitress was a delight, and it was fun being able to watch the chefs at work in the kitchen at the back of the restaurant. Just one thing to be aware of - the restaurant doesn't take cards, only cash, and because we had just walked in rather than booking we only discovered at the end of the meal. Not a problem as it turned out, as we could set up an immediate online transfer via our bank, but be aware. A great evening, and just what we needed after a very busy 36 hours and a lot of driving.

I returned to Kias this evening with some friends, and once again, the food was outstanding. Every dish is clearly made with love and care, and it's one of the few places in Sheffield where you can really taste the difference. Im still disappointed to see that they've taken the spinach mascarpone pasta off the menu, but with so many other great options, it's hard to be too saddened. I've recommended Kias to many friends, and they've all loved it too. I can't wait to come back soon!

I had to come on here. Normally I leave a facetious review and clever witticism but this time it’s different. Genuine thanks for the meal last night. I go out to eat often and it is so rare in Sheffield to experience people invested in and enthusiastic about the food they serve. Fantastic. I had the monkfish special. Really really good. Recommended.

We finally got booked into Kia’s (please email to book about 1/2 weeks in advance) and wow! I can’t recommend this place enough, we started off with meatballs and focaccia (specials) which was just stunning, then followed by Ragu and another special called agmello, both did not disappoint!!! The owner came over to the table before ordering and offered his opinions, thank you to all the incredible staff, each member of staff acted professionally and respectful, really knowledgeable! Price includes a bottle of red Again thank you for an incredible meal and an outstanding service! 10/10 would recommend

Best value for money pasta food in town, imo of an Italian. Always fresh and not over seasoned. A short menu that guarantees best ingredients

I previously wrote a review the day following our visit, I feel as though what I wrote didn’t quite do this restaurant justice. We had a wonderful evening, a really intimate and authentic experience! From the moment we arrived on the door step we were so warmly welcomed, enthusiastically talked through the specials and even given an early peak at the desserts! Staff were attentive but not at all overbearing The food was absolutely out of this world, I had the seafood linguine and my partner a pesto pasta dish… both absolutely phenomenal. Every restaurant we have visited since we have compared to Kia’s Pastaria, no where else is remotely close to this experience and we are itching to visit again

The pasta I had was absolutely gorgeous and a really generous portion! The service was friendly too. However, I had the tiramasu for pudding and it was TINY for £8.50, it was tasty don't get me wrong, but maybe 5 mouthfuls. This meant that the meal was quite expensive for what we got, and then I find it bizzarre that it's 2023 and it's a cash only restaurant (nobody carries cash, upgrade to card machines!).

We had a lovely evening, it started with a warm welcome and the atmosphere was relaxed. We were given time to browse the drinks menu and to my pleasure was informed they sold a variety of gins! Unfortunately I can’t drink wine but my husband enjoyed his glass of house red! Once receiving our drinks the specials board was explained in full detail! I chose the Focaccia with sea salt and oil, I was so pleased I did as this was so fresh and was the best I have ever had! My husband had the meatballs and his face said it all! He loved them and said he wished these were available as a main as well as a starter! To follow I had the Ragu Stracciato which was slow braised beef cheek, all I can say is wow! Lots of meat which melted in mouth! My husband chose the Branzino which was Seabass and Prawns, he said that it was the best thing he had eaten in a very long time! We were pretty full but couldn’t leave without sharing a Tiramisu- again very good and yummy! To summarise the food is absolutely amazing, In our opinion the best in Sheffield! We will be back in the next few weeks! Thank you to the Chef! Only advice I can offer is make sure the Focaccia is a regular on the menu :-)

THE BEST PASTA IN SHEFFIELD. I have no words to describe how well prepared, fresh and delicious the food is. The portions are generous, and the prices are very good for the quality and quantity. The service is excellent, and the staff are all friendly, super polite and helpful.

Incredible food and service, very accommodating

Took our parents tonight and weren’t disappointed. The service & the food were outstanding as usual. The garlic mushrooms with cream & dolcelate starter were absolutely devine. Fresh crab pasta and the pasta with sea bass were all enjoyed with 4 empty plates. Consistently good food and service is why we come back.

Amazing food good friendly service what more could you ask for

We attended with a group for an evening meal. We were made very welcome, the menu is varied and suits most people. Everyone enjoyed their selection except the two that had Lasagne. Sadly, this was a little stodgy at the bottom, not too hot in the middle and rather a lot of garlic, it overwhelmed other flavours.

In Sheffield for work, I had dinner at this Italian restaurant. I ate a very good carbonara, better than many Italian restaurants, I also tried the pasta alla norma, another delicious surprise, you can really feel the atmosphere of home. Well-kept and clean place with friendly and trained staff, a mention to the owner Kia, a true culinary artist who pays attention to detail. Last but not least, applause goes to Gregorio, the true "master of the room", always attentive to the needs of the customers. Very good indeed.

Been to Kia’s several times and have never had anything other than an excellent meal. Rainbow trout special was amazing. Not only is the food superb but the service is equally great. All the staff are extremely friendly as well as providing a great service....

Quality food - a definite cut or two above the norm - for an important meal for us. But really friendly service and a nice atmosphere. We had young kids (7 & 5) in our group and the staff handled them really well. Lots of other kids there too. Felt like a real family place. But still with excellent food.

This is without a doubt the best Italian restaurant in Sheffield, although you won't find pizzas here. Don't let this put you off, because they serve the best pasta I've had outside of Italy, indeed better than some pasta that I've had in Italy! Whilst the portion sizes may initially seem small, I can say that I was very full at the end and I am normally somebody that eats a decent amount of food. Staff are great and really attentive. It's a small but brilliant restaurant. We will be back as soon as possible.

Once again ,we had an absolutely beautiful meal at Kias Pasteria. Make no mistake, this is Sheffield's premier Italian pasta restaurant. Whilst you won't find pizzas here, the pasta more than makes up for it. We will be back as soon as we can.

Great food and lovely staff ruined by being cash only. No cash point nearby, so after a great meal had to drive around for 30 mins trying to find a working cash point. It's 2022 guys, when a bill for 4 can easily be £150 it's really not acceptable not to take card.

Great friendly service and delicious food

Delicious. The garlic bread with balsamic vinegar almost made me emotional. The food was wonderful, the atmosphere cosy and very Italian. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Absolutely loved it and will definitely be back.
