Food came after 45 minutes of ordering. The meats in the mixed grill were overcooked, tough and bland. It was meant to be boneless but we found bone in it. We also ordered chapli kebabs which was the only enjoyable item. Naan was ordered to have with a 500g chicken karahi and a 500g lamb karahi. I've had a lot of karahis in my time but this is the only place that cooked it with the bone. The bone made up most of the weight and we were left with very little meat in the finished dishes. Naan was served 5 minutes before the curries arrived and they went hard by this point. Tearing the naans to eat with the karahis was a chore and unpleasant to eat. There was a lot of oil in the kebabs and curries, it was very greasy. This restaurant is not Afghani. It is a Pakistani restaurant serving Pakistani cuisine. The decor leads one to believe it is authentic however do not be fooled by the aesthetics. I would strongly advise not going Khyber Pass to eat. It is also cash only restaurant. Nearest cash point is just under a 5 minute walk. It is an inconvenience especially with more and more people using contactless.

An amazing spot with traditional food from the Khyber Pass in Pakistan. Try the lamb karahi (savoury and succulent) with some freshly made Peshwari naan. You won’t regret it. It’s cash only (which was really inconvenient as the closest bank machine was closed too).

This restaurant will not survive anymore. They seems bloody expensive like five star hotel. In a portion of large mix grill they gave 2 shik kebab, 5 chicken wings & 2 pieces lam bits for £24. They charge for salad & sauce. Can you believe I spend more then £90 and I had to pay for sauce!!! Customer service is terrible. All foods are very very expensive if you compare any London restaurants. They think they are moon high. Such a disgrace in the name of Asian restaurant.

They are Nusret wanna bees. I wouldn’t even bother giving them 1 star. They are the worst restaurants I have ever been to.. They really do make the name Khyber look bad. Some Bangladeshi guys running this place.. My experience with them was the worst and I explain why: 1. The guy standing at the till didn’t even bother looking at us when it was only us 4 in front of him we had to show ourselves in The waitress only showed up 3 times. She wouldn’t respond even when she was right in front of us. We had to yell at the guy who kept passing by to get us extra Naan. 2. The quality of food was really really bad felt like the oil used was left over from the chicken shop fryer. (pics attached) 3 they served us the Starter (lamb tika) on a foil paper. 4. The sauce looked like they mixed the already made mint sauce with some bad yougart (the green one was ok) 5. The Bill came up to £112? Please have a look at the pics and let me know if one would justify paying £112 for this?? PLEASE AVOID!!!

We went to this restaurant with a friend who lives locally and had tried it. The staff were super friendly on arrival there was an open kitchen on the right - reassuring. The restaurant itself themed on the Peshawar area of NW Pakistan. But the props and articles from the region placed in the restaurant made it look like a second hand shop. I didn’t look closely as I daren’t as they looked dusty. I mean the plastic sheep carcas hanging in the entrance??...really?? We sat on the floor seating area and looking around the finish on the furnishing and decor was really a bodge job. It was like a restaurant out of the 70s or 80s. The food was okay. Nothing special. The Peshwari rice with sultanas In was lovely. The lemonade soda was recommended by the waiter had a funny smell and I personally found unpleasant. I know it’s London but I thought it was overpriced.I don’t like leaving negative reviews as this is someone’s business and the livelihood for numerous people but we go in there to spend our hard earned money and they need to clean the place up, give it a makeover and improve the food. Two stars as the staff were nice and the food was okay.

Visited here recently with a friend. His friends had highly recommended this place as they come from the same region and thought the food here was very good and an accurate representation of the area. We ordered charsi tikka to start which was pricey at £9 for 1/4kg. 6 pieces of grilled chicken seasoned with salt. Then lamb karahi at £9 for 1/4kg, kabuli pulao at £8, and 2 peshawari naan which were £1 each. The pulao was very average...lamb steaks on top were dry and not seasoned with anything. Rice was fairly plain. Naan was excellent and bought out fresh as you required it. Lamv Karahi was the tastiest thing though 50% was bone - not meat on bone - just bone. Free mint sauce was gloopy and possibly pre-made and bought in. Salad was small..and none of the 'freebies' were unlimited as other reviewers have stated. Free zarda kheer was dry and tasteless - thankfully it was free. Green tea at start and end of meal laced with cardamom and sugar was the best bit for me! I think I'm more used to other types if Indian/Asian food and therefore found this style of cooking flavourless and bland; lacking spices and taste. I wouldn't eat here again.

This place is amazing. I came in one Friday evening on my own. It was quite full and I was the only white person there. It was like stepping into a different country for an hour. I was served in a much more homely kind of way than I usually would be in a London restaurant. The waitress helped me choose a dish. I had the Chicken Karahi (she suggested I take a smaller and therefore cheaper portion than the one in the menu), Peshawari Naan and Lemon Soda. While the prices are probably more in the mid-range than budget bracket, when you take into consideration how much you get for free in addition to what you order, it is very good value indeed. I got lots of tea, salad and a sweet rice for dessert all included. And the portions were big - I still had enough to take home and have a small meal of it the next day.Almost everything on the menu is dairy free, which was wonderful for me. It's not often I can have most things on a menu! This place has a very low hygiene rating, probably in part because all the cooking methods seem to be very traditional. My Chicken Karahi arrived on a traditional cast iron pan, the kind that should (according to traditional cooking methods) only get wiped down rather than washed. That said, McDonalds has a very high hygiene rating and I'm pretty sure it's less healthy than the food here!I would really recommend this place. It's a random, but very interesting experience.

I am big fan of afghan food so I know what it is like. We passed this restaurant many times and decided we give it a go.We were welcomed by a polite Romanian waitress who was friendly and seemed to be taking on the job of three people. The "kawa" was good but that's where the music stopped and it went downhill from there. We ordered kabuli pulao which came after long wait and the lamb didn't seemed to be cooked with it but separately and just placed on top of the pulao. It meat was cold The fat had solidified due to being cold and it was not pleasant. the seekh kebab took ages and t seemed the mince was not fresh and stored in freezer as it was cold and wet from the inside. later we ordered another kebab as my daughter seemed to enjoy it and the waitress suggested it might take 20 mins atleast so she suggested we order chapli kebab instead as it would be quick. However it was atleast 15 mins and 3 reminders that the chapli kebab landed when it arrived I was shocked to see that along with kebab even the garnished tomato was covered in black oil. It looked th oil in which it was fried had seen better days. seeing the look of horror on my face the owner I assume (short man with heavily gelled hair in a hairband and little pony tail ) came and said it may look not so pretty but it will definitely taste very good as it is the best Chapli kebab in whole of Pakistan. I know huge claim so I tried. After a reluctant bite I was sure it cannot be the best in Pakistan but @ £8 a piece it may be the most expensive in Pakistan. I refuse to pay on the basis that I did not like secondly it was not what I wanted and the waitress suggested it because my order apparently would take long for it and he said wait for it here is the funny bit.. lets share the loss I will take off £4 and you pay £4. I could not believe what I was hearing. a restaurateur in hospitality industry was haggling with me to pay for food which I did not like or preferred and he could not grasp this so In the end he took of 5.50 off my bill..I did not bother trying to give him a lesson in customer service and paid and left never to return again..I wont be surprised if a couple 5 star feedback is left to counteract my poor review.

My portion did have quite a lot of bone and fat but i do understand these are essential for the taste of this particular dish. The chappli kebab was definitely worth £7, very tasty and filling too at 1/2 KG. Naan bread is brought out as they are cooked to ensure they are hot and fresh. Furthermore, the restaurant itself has been designed really well and it brought back many memories for me, personally being a Pathan. Finally, i was pleased that the staff has Pashto music at hand, when requested to play it.

This restaurant always satisfies my Karahi cravings to the fullest. The complimentary tea and dessert is a plus. We tried the lamb Karahi, chapli kebab, sheesh kebabs, peshwari naan with salt and sweet lassi. The environment is very traditional looking, though the seating area can be upgraded and needs a little bit modernization. Overall, very nice food so I can ignore the seating. A must try in Manor Park area

I have visited this place twice within the last year and thought of giving a review about my experience. Dont go, if you are looking to eat something nice because it is very likely that the food you would eat is going to be of a very poor quality. My first visit was with friends who invited me to this place and it was okish. My second visit was terrible though. Same poor quality meat and ingridients. Will not recomend this place to anyone.

i stumbled across this restaurant about 2 years ago with my wife and to be honest was expecting the usual Pakistani food, but was delighted by decor which is quite quirky for a Asian restaurant. Lots of furniture and posters and various seating arrangement where you can choose to sit on the floor, sit back on some lounge chairs or the standard table and chairs. It was a cold winter day and as soon as we got in we were seated and brought a coal fire bucket which gave off plenty of heat and kept us warm and complimented a nice aura to the place. Then we were presented with some complimentary Peshawari qawa (tea) in a retro teapot and cups which was lovely, so much so i asked for another pot! The menu is small but We ordered a mixed grill first and to be honest first impressions were looks bland and too much meat but we did get stuck in and was tasty but not spicy. The we had ordered some rice and a lamb curry and Naan. Curry was fresh full flavour and naan bread was excellent, finally we were given complimentary sweet rice as a desert which was lovely overall we left being surprised and looking forward to coming back. I have been several times since then and must recommended the place highly. Personally i like alot of spice but i didn't miss it when i come here as the taste of the food makes up for the spice lost and I recommend this place to all.

This restaurant was an amazing find, we didn't intentionally go out of our way to go to Khyber Pass, in fact we had made a trip to manor park to eat at a restaurant opposite Khyber Pass but they were closed. And boy are we pleased it was. We were hesitant to walk into Khyber Pass as it didn't have the initial appeal from the outside, but after walking in and being greeted by the owner himself any second thoughts we had were quickly wiped away and our experience was nothing less then tantalising from start to finish. Cant fault them with a single thing, with complimentary mint tea to start with served in traditional cup bowls you just felt like you were in a different part of the world. The restaurant is a fusion between Peshwari and Afghani and when our mains started to come we indulged in our meal, traditional home made style grill and karahi, the best I have had by far and my friends share the same opinions. I will most definitely be returning here and if you haven't already tried it and you want a trip back to Peshwar/Afghan then you MUST make the trip down.

The best curry in London? I think so, the best nan in town? Quite possibly. You can eat and eat in this gem of a place. Makes my mouth water just thinking about their karai's. always freshly made, and always tastes amazing! I wish I knew their recipe!

I had been to some pakistani restaurants. But I only loved the namak mandi karahi here. The refreshing lemon soda cake is like icing on cake. The starter tikka platter is also very very tasty with complementary kahwa. It reminds me of muree mall road nights.

We orderd three disches' chalse tikka ' Namak mandi Karahi and chapli kebabs. The Tikka was excellent ' karahi is not the same standred the colour was black and they put some spices ( Misalas) in it. The chapli kebabs were very nice but one kebab was on £ 7.00. Over all I can say the food was good but expensive. About the service I can say it was good ' because they tried to give us the best service and in the result we give them £12.00 tip.

Went last night with a few friends and what can I say....... The food was fatty meat with litres of cooking oil with very little to excite the taste buds. The staff are ill equipped with personal hygiene and customer service. Waited ages for food and when it arrived, it came all together so sat on the table to gather the Pashtun dust. The ambience is busy, untidy, unhygienic and frankly third world standard. In fact I go as far as saying that the local H&S officers should pay this place a visit as I think its not un to scratch. There were other diners in the restaurant that were even more upset than us and 2 or 3 pockets of verbal unrest and discontent were expressed with no real impact on the staff.Poor food, unreasonable pricing and very inadequate premises. STAY WELL CLEAR

Khyber Pass started with a bang - the first Pashtun/Afghan restaurant in London or in this area and received massive foot fall. I was one of the many loyal customers. It was very cheap, quality of all ingredients was fabulous and taste lovely. One year down the road, it has all gone down the hill. The portion sizes have reduced under half, quality is extremely poor - most times they serve fatty meat or left over from yesterday and nothing fresh. None now cares about taste when serving. I told them on three visits that they are going down, they didn't do anything to change back to good. Won't go again and none should go.

The manager/owner is on a mission to educate the people about a Pakistani food and culture that has been misrepresented by the media. You can really tell that h=this restaurant is a labor of love because that passion is shown in the quality of the food. My parents and I were on a family vacation in London and were told this was a great place to eat. We traveled over an hour to get the here but the wait was well worth it. One of the best Pakistani/Indian cuisines Ive ever had!

I went today for lunch bite poori masala and filter coffee. Staff were very hospitable and kind enough for me to use plug point near to the table as well a bringing me cutlery to the table with privacy from others ( working lunch) The poori masala was fresh and puffed with lovely masala potato and veg korma and to end with a hot filter coffee. See you again Raj

Ordered the chicken tikka wrap and masala chips. Waited with a buzzer for my food. When I recieved my food, the wrap was cold along with the chicken tikka inside. The host blamed this on the fact that the salad is cold and that is why the whole wrap is cold uncluding the meat. If I wanted a cold wrap I would have gone to waitrose downstiars. The masala chips were overcooked, dry and had a bitter flavour to them. I had wanted to try this place for a while, but my first experience was a bad experience.

A nice looking relaxed restaurant let down by some poor quality food. Lamb pasanda loaded with sugar and was more like a korma. Complained, but they said it's their style. If that's the case, try a better place with a real Indian chef. A disappointing experience!
