Everything is amazing except due to the small entrance area, it can become chaotic and confusing but it’s not a reason not to always get my sweets from there

Always used to buy pata ghatia and Dhokri from them. Got it recently and ghatia were so thin and undercooked and the Dhokri was so dense and tasted horrible. Really gone downhill and won’t be returning there anymore. Still have the tables so we cannot see the Dhokri or anything so they just put it in bag and hand us bag. Waste of money and disappointing

Bought 2kls jalebis. They were horrible. Stale and 3 or 4 days old. Not the first time. Happened to me second time. Had to travel in the heat. It was 2pm . Think they choose their customers. Serve old food to new customers n give fresh to well known faces. How stupid. Should give it to the beggers on the same day Instead of serving to the customers next day. Pathetic. Gujjus will always behave like this. No matter what!

Lifelong visitor of City Sweet. Standards have dropped whilst pricing has rocketed. Dhokla were tough as boots. Equivalent to red London bricks, stodgy and need a pint of water to swallow each block. Used to be super spongy. Mava Penda, sweeter than usual, no dusting of pistachios like they used to. Disappointing decline of a local favourite.

Had guests over for dinner so ordered a variety of savouries. I am a regular at City Sweet so thought I again buy from them but this time their dhokla were uncooked. Upon calling them they refused to listen to my feedback and just claimed they have sold all day. Customer service was absolutely poor.

I love the tradition of this place, i'm not of Indian heritage (chinese) so was intrigued what these sweet delicacies were. I got a mixed box that cost me £16.50, hopefully giving me a wide range of sorts. All the individual sweets tasted the same, had similar textures, and in my view, very bland. I feel bad saying this but they all had a stale consistency and taste to them. Then again, I haven't been brought up eating these so what do i know!

Generally the quality of the product has been better than expected, however, it is not upto the standards recently. I bought spicy Sev, Chevdo, batetawada, and kachori, a few days back, and it was NOT fresh at all. All the items were completely off, and tasted terrible. The food has to be fresh to be enjoyable. Very much disappointed.

The staff are professional and very friendly and polite and helpful. They do catering for small or large parties. They are famous for their sweet and savoury and snack food. Some of my favourites are... Sweet like Ladu, Yellow and Mawa Pera, Barfi, Jalebi and my favourite Gulub Jumbu. Savoury like Gathia, Farsi Puri, Chevda. Snack food like Bhelpuri, Special Chaat, Kachori, Patra, Dhokrs. They have a lot more variety to choose from there manu. The prices are reasonable too. This is a family run business. I would recommend this place to everyone.

Can't really eat in there. Takeaway only really. Our family has been a customer for over 45 years, though less of late. The price hikes have been ridiculous in recent times (certainly not in line with inflation) The quality of food seems to have dwindled over the years. So too, has the customer service. All the staff really. It now ranges in between pretty average to pretty atrocious. All this has meant our regular visits have now been reduced to just a couple of times a year. Diwali and perhaps the odd birthday.......... and that is ONLY for the Jalebis. The JALEBIS are really the star of the show at City Sweet Centre. When they're fresh, they are crispy and crunchy on the outside, and fragrant and sweet on the inside - probably the best in London, but only when they're freshly made - I can't stress that enough. Mawa (or Khoa) ki barfi and Khoa peray are good too. The savoury items are so ridiculously overpriced, its unreal. Considering most of the ingredients are are fairly basic, readily available and inexpensive, and the items themselves not very labour intensive. Check the price of an extra bottle of the "pani" in the pani puri and you'll see. It's 80%-90% tap water, flavoured with tamarind and spices. Samosas (and their filling) and all types of ghatia are very very average. In fact most savouries are very average and there's no knowing how fresh (or old) the stuff on the shelves is. We've resorted to making our own samosa's, dhokra and other savouries at home and hands down they're better. But like I said, if you have a sweet tooth and you like Indian sweets, then City Sweet Centre is the place to go. The clue is in the name and the Jalebis are legendary. If it's Indian savoury food you like, you could probably eat better locally and cheaper elsewhere. It would have been a very generous 3, possibly 4 out of five. City Sweet loses two stars: one for below average customer service and one for it's daylight robbery prices. But gets one star back for the best fresh jalebis around. An overall generous score of 2 out of 5.
