Khyber Grill in Redbridge

I’ve been a customer of this place for the past 5 years. Even though I moved out of the area but still I drive 50 min to come here. Past few times I’m so disappointment with the food taste ( chicken karahi boneless ). Not sure if they have changed the chef or what but it taste like you eat potato qorma. Sad to say but it was my last time to come here. 😏

Food was ok, service really terrible and restaurant was freezing

Just ordered take way chapli kebab meal and the kebabs were half cooked and the salad they gave was very old, cucumber that was in salad was half white could see the lettuce and cucumber have gone bad.

Delicious Afghani good. Best Kabuli Pulao. Chapli kebab and chicken karahi. highly recommended

The staff is very friendly and cooperative. All the staff members are well mannered. They greet you in such a humble way that it feels like you're coming everyday here.

Rude, Racist, Discriminatory and Misogynistic. Unfortunately, I can only rate this ridiculous establishment 1 out of 5 instead of a zero and in reality it should just be closed down. I dropped off my mother and aunt this evening to have dinner and within 10 minutes they had to leave the restaurant. From the minute my mother arrived she was not greeted well. She wanted to sit down in an unoccupied table and was told that it was reserved which she obviously did not know, as it was not written. A lady approached her asking how many individuals were going to be seated (5 out of 8 seats would be taken), after my mother answered the lady left the table and reported to a man who seemed to be the manager. The manager came to move my mother to a smaller table in between big groups of men, which was not ideal for a hijabi lady which they (muslim management) should know and understand. Just to point out that there were other tables that anyone else could have been sat on - especially because my mum had arrived first and booked earlier on. Now when my mother raised this, the man said he does not care and kept using hand gestures to scurry her away - like an animal - to the table between the big groups of men and then added that if she does not like where she has been put she should get out. Which type of restaurant has management that treats customers in such a way? Just because they are not from Afghanistan or even Asian? To my surprise no one spoke up for my mum and as she was leaving she did tell the muslim men off for not speaking up when another muslim man was targeting her. The manager then proceeded to say “yes, if you were an Asian lady I would have let you sit anywhere you wanted.” I have never heard anything so distasteful and upsetting. DO NOT KEEP THIS PLACE IN BUSINESS.

One of the worst kabuli pilao I had charged me £15 with a 3 bites of meat looks like a zeera pilao with slice of carrots never ever go back again 0 star for this restaurant

Disgusting food delivery. Ordered one kabuli polaw through uber eats. They have send me only lamb fats instead of any meat. If you are doing business do it with honesty. Because from now on neither me or any of my family members will order from here.

Never coming back again. Really disappointed with the service. The waitress kept coming over asking if she should get our food packed when we were clearly still eating. Once we finished she asked for the glasses and I said to her I am still drinking my drink it isn’t finished. We ordered tea with gajar ka halwa which took over 30 mins to arrive. To top it all off when I went to pay the man at the till decided to charge me £2 extra on the card machine. I showed him the bill and asked him why are you charging me £2 extra he said ‘oh’ and corrected it. Needless to say I won’t be going back and definitely don’t recommend visiting here.

If i could give a 0 i would. We ordered via uber eats but before we ordered we called the restaurant and asked if the chapli kebab comes with naan. She said yes with a full package/ meal. So we ordered it but when it arrived it did not have naan. We called the restaurant again and said there must be a confusion. But they said no it does not come with naan. We got scammed £12 and when we asked what they were going to do they hung up. WOULD NEVER COME HERE AGAIN

Incredible experience! The flavors were rich and authentic, with perfectly balanced spices. Each dish was beautifully presented and full of depth, from the tender meats to the fresh herbs and fragrant rice. The service was attentive, and the ambiance really added to the experience. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a genuine taste of Afghan cuisine!

Lovely decor and comfy chairs. The food was slightly above average. Nothing special but was satisfying. I would go back if I'm in the area.

As soon as I entered the restaurant and they started LITERALLY STARING AT MEEEE for no reason. And also I ordered a curry they gave me extra extra large but I ordered a small one then it had a lot of chicken and less gravy.also the staff are really rude.and I also saw them mixing the salad with their dirty hands and no gloves and I went out.

Such awful service no manners at all should be reported and shut no hygiene at all in toilets as well really awful restaurant all staff should get fired especially karam the 1 who's always a back talker we asked for half kg they gave us 1kg poor listening skills poor service. Perfect place for food..love it

The level of food and service has gone down to gutters . It use to be a good restaurant 4 ,5 years back .the staff has been advised to give bad looks to every table that asks for extra sauces/salad . Portion sizes are ridiculous peshawri naan size is almost like a regular naan and always undercooked. Better not waste your money , go greenlane khyber instead.

Absolutely horrendous as soon as we came in everyone was staring at us for no reason even the manager wasn't being right normally customers are always right but he didn't admit that very poor service very appauling atmosphere. I'm never coming again poor experience

Thanks to those two girls how served us both was friendly and kind.. Food was delicious I really like I went there with my friends we from Oxford... But when i went to pay there was a person how was rude I said to him food was delicious but he didn't reply idk why...

Been coming to this restaurant for 2 years but unfortunately the standards have slipped to an all time low. Disgusting hygiene and customer service. Never coming back here. The waitresses have zero customer service skills when we complained about the lack of meat in the rice dish and did absolutely nothing to resolve this. Then to top it off we found a hair in the curry dish and when we showed them there wasn’t even an apology. The owner just sat there and watched and couldn’t care less. This restaurant should be reported for extremely poor hygiene standards.

Ordered a takeaway and paid £24 for one lamb curry but it all was all bone and a bit of fat and hardly any sauce. Would not order from this place again.

I recently dined at Khyber Grill and was impressed by the size of the naans—they're absolutely massive! Perfect for sharing or enjoying with your meal. However, I did notice that they can go a bit stale after a while, so it's best to enjoy them fresh. Overall, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was inviting. I’d recommend Khyber Grill for a satisfying meal, just make sure to eat the naans while they’re still warm!

Decent food, nothing special or great. Used to be good but it feels the chef has changed. The chicken wings came out pink inside.

Excellent food. Karahu lamb and kebabs should be tried. Good competition. But they refused to serve tap water. Added a reason that the jugs are busy. Another one said that today they won't serve tap water. Definitely visit and taste the food but bring your own tap water.

11pm friday - Ordered lamb seekh kebabs alongside kabuli pilao and masala fish. Lamb seekh kebab flavour was good however were undercooked from inside. Kabuli pilao itself was fine did not have much flavour to the rice (didnt seem fresh) Masala fish was over fried some parts tasted burnt. Never again!

We order mix grill but it was naan kebab means they serve 4 sekh kebab and 2 chanps. And 4 wings I will not recommend and will never come back

The meat was fresh and I mean fresh as in they must have a slaughter house close to site the space and ambience is traditional and the food was tt 👌 😋 🙌 🙃 loved the place good prices as well 2 people fed and watered for £35 in London in todays economy is a steal...

I was considering to try this place's food for the first time, but as I was about to enter, I witnessed the staff being incredibly disrespectful towards a family. I was appalled and decided to to go to the mcdonalds opposite instead!! Is this how we treat customers?

Went to this restaurant with my family, very bad customer service the staff the two female staff were very aggressive and rude and started using abusive language in punjabi, as food ordered was bit raw and uncooked, we were thier for eid celebration with children very embrassing behaviour I also took some guests that came from out of the city, their aggressive behaviour and food hygiene was very bad 👎 will definitely not recommend this restaurant .

Had delicious food with good atmosphere

We ordered various dishes including chapli kabab, fish, Chicken Karahi, and bbq platter. Overall food quality was okay, chicken karahi was just fine. Chapli Kabab and bbq were very good. The ambience was impressive.

Very delicious food with almost less pricey than market

Agree with previous reviews that portion sizes are unacceptably small for Karahi. No way they were the advertised weight of 1kg. Taste wise they are ok but definitely going down hill with each visit. Service was ok, nothing special to rave about. The restaurant is a bit unorganised with staff running around like headless chickens. Not my idea of great meal out.

I went in khayber grill first time so i'm very happy to enjoy the food . I don't know why people give them very bad review as l enjoyed alot and the staff is very friendly and nice or dealing very nicely . I recommend to every one pls go there for nice food and service.

Not recommended at all. The Karahis are not the 1kg in weight they claim (and you pay for) and specially the chicken ones did not have any succulent/decent prices of chicken (leg/breast/thighs). The Karahi was full of chicken neck pieces/ tertiary pieces. Third quality chicken used in the Karahis. Really disappointing/ awe-full experience and never to be repeated. I gave them a benefit of doubt few times but each time my Karahi was under weight and without any decent pieces of chicken which tells me that this is their business model and at £25 a dish that zero value for Money. I would happily skip this restaurant next time. Not recommended at all. The owner is uninterested and really lacks any business acumen. Totally agree with other reviews that the service is terrible. An unskilled team of waitresses treat you like they are doing you a favour by brining your food. Terrible combination of low quality food, non existent service and high prices. There is another restaurant on Green Lane, RM8 (couple of miles away) with the same name but not connected to this place and is far better in quality and service.

The only place where we go for desi food. They have best chapli kebabs, karahis and palak karahi is a must if you are vegetarian. Amazing service and friendly staff.

Very tasty chops! Chicken boti was so flavoursome and chapli kebab was nice too. We also had chicken karahi and afghani naan. We will definitely be coming again with the family.

I won’t recommend any one to go to this brunch because the service is really bad all the waitresses are sitting on the chair and they won’t understand when you asked about something or order keep repeating yourself. There is no hot drink such a tea even you request it they are say no hot drink on Fridays and weekends . The food with their portion was very expensive and they charged us £2 for one portion of onion.we have ordered lam charsi curry the meat was smelling so bad not fresh Waste your money and time it is not worthy .

Ordered a lamb Sajji for Eid day. It was an amazing taste, very tender, salad was fresh, rice and salad was nice. Will order again. Will definitely recommend.

Kabali Pilao, mixed grill, chicken karahi, chappli kebab with afghani naan, and mango or sweet lassi to drink. All were very nice.

Food was amazing! I would highly recommend the masala fish and lamb karahi. A bit of better lighting, cleaning up around register and closer attention /kind words by waiters would help this restaurant. There is parking across the street at Aldi for 1.5h

Very attentive staff Excellent mixed grill Reasonably priced

DO NOT GET MIX GRILL from this place as you will regret it, mix grill means mix of kebabs but it was full of kofta kebabs 4 pieces of kofta kebab was inside and 6 peices of Chicken tikka and I swap the wings for choppli kebab but it was not even cooked well. They have charge me £30 for a mix grill that was not worth £5 so I don’t know about the rest of the food as I haven’t not tried it but the mix grill is not worth your money, even not worth having it for free

Went out for dinner with the family on a weekday. Reasonably busy for a Tuesday evening. We had the mixed grill, afghan naan and chicken curry. Food arrived pretty quickly and was nice and fresh. Decor is simple but nice and clean; had a nice authentic feel. Surprised with the average 3.8 rating, definitely 4 at minimum. Based on my experience I would definitely go again with the family. Suitable for friends families.

Authentic food, good value, decent atmosphere Not easy to park on weekends, but we were very lucky to park directly outside. Staff was polite, food came out fast and 10/10. Definetly worth another visit.

Visited this place many many years ago and the lamb karahi was amazing. Tried it again recently to re-live the amazing memories but unfortunately it was wasn't great at all. The lamb karahi tasted far from great, ordered lamb chops and they were raw from the inside. Definitely won't be going back.

The food was absolutely amazing and the owner is lovely. But there is one staff member they have who is extremely rude. She is a tall, Indian lady. She has no clue on what she does and she has absolutely no manners. Every time I asked something she would always try and make an argument out of it.

The behaviour is unacceptable. Extremely rude staffs and doesn’t have any knowledge of customer services. I ordered Qabooli pilau from the rice dish which just said qabooli pilau and didn’t mention on the menu that it comes with lamb. Ofcourse if I am not from Afghan I shouldn’t be expected to know this. There was one “qabooli pilau with Chicken” and the other just “Qabooli pilau” no meat mentioned. When it arrived it had lamb in it and I don’t consume lamb. When I told the waitress to get that changed as some of us don’t eat lamb. She said it’s already made and can’t be changed. I said it didn’t mention in the menu it had lamb she said that’s how Qabooli pilau is and became aggressive towards me. Didn’t even apologise or showed any sympathy. So I said it’s fine. Paid and left. Never going back.

Absolutely horrendous customer service and diarrhoea like Karahi. The food tasted so disgusting that had to throw it away and when tried to make the management and chef aware, who live in a universe where their food can never be blamed for a single fault, attacked by flourishing comments that its eaten by 100’s everyday without complaints. Please avoid at all costs and if you still do crave a karahi, try their counterparts “Khyber Grill” on Green Lane with better food quality and million times better customer service

I had very bad experience with their food quality I did take away. Being a single parent spending this much amount of money for my kids and my mum it's smell so bad and raw that me and my kids we all had diarrhoea. When I called to speak with manager after 3 days he came on the phone & was very rude no customer dealing. I was trying to explain him that me and my kids were ill after having your food but he wasn't ready to listen and talk to me. Very disappointed with their food and management.

Dissappointment is the word. I have ordered chapli kebab portion with nan bread & Kabli pilao for takeaway. Rice dish was a joke as meat piece it had that had a huge bone and meat clearly not sufficent enough to the amount of rice, infact you would not eat out of misery. Not justified with price either. Im sorry but it is a truth. Chapli kebab was good however weight has gone down. Salad & Chatni, seems like they are trying to save it rather give it to the customer to enjoy food with (very bad). I had them years ago and it was good, now it was a waste of money and a hassel to had this time. No more ever again. I rate 2.5 When you collect food and come home after an hour journey, imagine how you would feel.

I ordered a takeaway from this place. Have eaten her many times before. The chicken karahi was RAW & uncooked. The roast was burnt outside and raw on the inside. The salad was over a day old. £60 of food went in the bin. What an embarrassing food chain.

Overall I would recommend baced on atmosphere very family friendly. However baced of the food totally dislike and would not recommend. Raw Chapli kebab and unsanitary. Very disappointing.

They still have Great food, but prices have changed

The grill menu was horrible as it had no seasonings and the meat was uncooked. The karhi option had no sauce and lamb in it was also undercooked. The pilua was tasteless and lamb in it had smell coming off it. The food was simply horrible and not at all worth the price.

Food as you expected. Taste similar to the one on green Lane. Atmosphere similar. But unfortunately service was not as good.

Always love this restaurant only problem I get is their food is so spicy last time I ordered it I asked it for medium I'm sure all they did was put one less chilly in it but lovely food great value for money naan bread is only one pound and so massive excellent value for money
