We have been to Buxton many times but stumbled upon this beautiful restaurant by chance wow so pleased we did the food was absolutely amazing we had 4 different starters, 4 different main courses all served with different rice's they were all served pipping hot the service was excellent and it made a change to have a lovely local beer instead of Chang thanks for the service with a smile and the lovely food nextime we are visiting Buxton in the Motorhome we will see you all again.

We went out as a group of 7, and they were extremely nice and accommodating to us, with great food and service. We ordered a lot of food, and our food still managed to be delivered quickly, the staff were also really friendly to us, and particularly the kids. They were also really helpful and experienced.The food was really amazing, with lots of varying options.It was also reasonably priced fir the quality and amount of food.We had a great time, and would definitely come again.

We were blown away with this superb restaurant. Of course the star of the show was the mouthwatering food. Our meal was absolutely amazing. The variety of Thai flavours and the quality of the ingredients were outstanding. Perfectly fresh, perfectly cooked, incredibly delicious. What a Chef! We aren't big eaters but we could not stop eating such beautiful food. We chose a fixed menu and the food just kept coming. This is a beautifully presented restaurant which creates a relaxed and calming atmosphere. We were made to feel very welcome by the owner and everyone was very friendly. We had a superb evening. Thank you for making our last evening the best of our great weekend in Buxton. If only you were based in Buckinghamshire!

My girlfriend and I have traveled around the world and love trying the cuisine from each culture, we’ve even been to Thailand and we must say one of the best Thai curry’s we have had. It’s a definite must. We had the Gaeng Panang with Tofu. Must try.

We booked for an early meal at 6.30 on a Friday. After being shown to our table we were left for 15 minutes without menus so eventually, we went up to the bar to ask for menus so that we could at least begin choosing. The woman at the bar asked if we hadn't been given menus and if we had booked! I then asked for a drinks menu also that, at least we could order a drink. Again, instead of just giving us them we were told they were usually on the table! Eventually, we were given the drinks menu, which did not have beers listed and when we asked we were directed to a blackboard at the rear of the restaurant where some beers were listed ( but without showing the volume, strength or price which is illegal). We eventually ordered our food and went for the vegetarian starter for two and our main courses. When it arrived the waitress slipped and spilt the sauce and about 1/3 of the food on the table. Accidents happen and we have no issue with that but she then left and we were left waiting for a long time until we went to find another waitress to clear it up who the muttered something about getting us some prawn crackers as she left. I had to go back to the bar to say we didn't want prawn crackers as we are vegetarian and we were told they'd bring something else instead but this never appeared and by then we'd given up! The main courses were actually quite nice but the service throughout was so bad we'll probably never go back. It's a shame because this place used to be really good but we were made to feel like an inconvenience for even turning up.

Great tasting food, poor service and very very unfortunately I don't think value for money

The restaurant looks great and is very inviting but there was little atmospherere and the food was disappointing. The Penang and Massaman curries were bland and overly sweet . Thai food is my absolute fave and I was very disappointed, I wouldn't come back.

Absolutely stunning meal last night…we were visiting Buxton to celebrate our wedding anniversary and came across the restaurant , which is lovely! We went for one of the set-menu options and it was delicious. Service good too. Would definitely recommend !!!

I was searching for Indian food and came across a Thai restaurant. I thought to give it a try. It was my first time trying Thai food. The food was good. I also liked the service. But my personal preference would be Indian food.

There were three of us and two of us had the crab cakes. We were disappointed in them - they were bland, limp and not hot in any sense of the word. The main courses would all have been a lot better if their sauces were not so sweet. Disappointing desert menu - ice cream or syrup sponge. Service was very slow (our meal took 2 and a quarter hours from sitting down to paying the bill). It was 10 minutes before we got menus. Admittedly the place was very busy as it was a Saturday night but I did wonder whether dealing with take away meals was taking preference over serving the diners.

Beautiful restaurant great staff and delicious authentic Thai food. Really busy on Saturday night I would recommend booking. The staff managed to get us a table and we’re happy to book us a taxi when leaving. When visiting the area again I would definitely come back here.

Although locate at a street that is quite easy to find, but that is all I could say about this place. Food is average but consider pricy for the quality and taste of the food. Only have 2 service staff for the entire restaurant. Smoke alarm came off as open kitchen and the extractor fan just not strong enough. Ambience in need of improvement. We were cooped on a corner where all the customers were jammed into, space the customers out will give people space rather than "in your face" type approach. If this restaurant want to beat Simple Thai, much needs to be done.

Quite busy on Saturday night. It'll be great to book table. Thai cuisine, but for English tastes, Tom yum soup was nice. Stir fly flat noodles were tasted okay. Red curry was salty. It is better to reduce salt. Staff are friendly and helpful. Good services. There is pay and park car parking around.

Visited on a Saturday night while local on holiday and booked based on good TA reviews. On this occasion previous reviews were not aligned with our experience. The food itself was decent and tasty albeit value for money is so-so bordering pricey, duck and chicken dishes were good quality meat. Service was again, so-so and mostly younger staff and seemed lacking a clear front of house lead. The music choice was a bizarre and overly loud mix of heavy metal (!?) followed by ABBA’s greatest hits….😳🤷🏻‍♂️ Not one I’d return to but clearly others have had a much better/different experience!

We were recommended this Restaurant/Takeaway by our Host of the Coach House were we are staying for a Weeks Break. We ordered a selection of Food for 4 Hungry Adults, We weren't disappointed & the Tom Yum Soups in particular were Delicious. The portions were very Generous.

Out of the 3 or so Thai restaurants around Buxton we chose Khomkhai Thai Cuisine which was hidden away from the main road. We were pleasantly surprised as there were several vegetarian & vegan options on the menu, and we were impressed by the tasty flavours and quality of the food. We'll be coming back again for more!

It's a hidden gem in Buxton for Thai lovers. We came to know about this place from a Thai originate lady who recommended to try this restaurant once. It's worth visiting if you are in Buxton and like to try Thai food. Service was a bit slow, but food was delicious. They have a good range of food options from starter to the Main dish. We tried their Duck as a main and it was soft, tender and juicy.

Very disappointed with our takeaway given the restaurant reviews. Is it the same business? We had the cod, which was soggy, and the chicken jungle curry, which was more like a thin broth. Chicken was a few days old too. Mixed skewers to start were also poor - we threw away the chicken ones as they looked undercooked and we didn’t want to risk eating them. Our worst meal in Buxton. Really disappointing. Do not order a takeaway from here.

Really poor takeaway. Is it the same restaurant?! Delivery driver turned up in a flooring van! Chicken satay looked pink so went in the bin. No satay sauce. Cod was soggy and jungle curry was like a thin broth. We threw half of it away.

Are here with others during a stay in Buxton. We got there an hour before closing but made to feel very welcome and had some amazing food. We were all very happy and looked after. Had a few drinks and laughed the night away. One of the staff poked her head out of the kitchen to say how it made her happy to hear us laughing and enjoying ourselves. My cousin Abel was so touched he cried on the way home..

Disappointing, we had fishcakes to start that were tasteless and mushy. Main courses were small in size and just about ok. Not one of our best Thai meals

First experience of Thai was absolutely fantastic

Our first evening (25th January) on our Peak District trip, (staying at Green Lane B&B, Buxton), we'd walked about 5mins to arrive at Khomkhai Thai restaurant (almost hidden away in the back alleyway). Good choices available in the food and drinks menus. The food came out hot and quickly. However, we discovered later on that we actually didn't have any scallops with our order of the sizzling "Talay Jan Ron" (in the menu it stated: mixed seafood of prawns, scallops, mussels and squid). Which was very disappointing as the presence of the scallops would justify the high price for this dish. Some dishes were alittle on the sweet side and some on the salty side. But overall, it was cooked and tasted ok. There are two front doors! With no clear signs we had to go with trial and error and found the entrance door was the one on the right-hand side. We were warmly greeted and seated by the young waitress. We didn't book but there were plenty of tables available (at 5.40pm, Wednesday 25th January), although most of them had been reserved for later dining (7pm onwards). The dining area is lovely decorated with Thailand Buddha sculptures, paintings and plants. Service was friendly from both the waitresses and the kitchen staff. There is a public paid car park opposite which provides free parking after 6pm.

After a not very good service experience was offered a discount for a return visit which didn't Dissappoint . Very good food and service

Found hair in the food. Mentioned it to the waitress. I agree they apologized but I had expected that they would not charge for that item or give us a discount eventhough we did not ask for it. Also the food was ok.

Me and my friend came here the other day it was amazing. We ordered mixed starter and a stir fry with jasmine rice. The food was outstanding I would totally recommended coming here for food. Lovely food very tasty would recommend but chair abit wobbly that I was sat on had to change it staff removed dishes without asking had we finished and thenwe weren’t ask if we wanted anything else ordering also had to go to bar to order coffees has no one asked at table so food although very nice service wasn’t good

Great evening meal with family. Lovely friendly staff. Delicious food. Great atmosphere. The only reason for not giving 5 stars on the atmosphere was because it was such a cold winter's evening and despite having the heating on it was very chilly at our table. This certainly won't stop us returning.

My first review. I'm not one for public declarations but this place thoroughly deserves it! The decor is stunning, lots to look at and appreciate. The spacing inside is very ample for moving about and although it's a big open space, you don't feel like your table is crammed. All the staff are hard working, from front of service to the chefs in the back. I never once see anyone slacking or lingering.. The boss lady is lovely, easy to talk to and you can tell she is so passionate about being authenticly Thai, not just about the business. Saw absolute perfection in service. The food was exceptional. The prawn toast is the best I've ever, ever had. Mains Were served with lovely presentation, so full of flavour.. thought, care and love has gone into these dishes! I am really struggling for constructive criticism. I/We really enjoyed our experience here, already can't wait to come back and wish the boss lady every success because she undoubtedly deserves it. Thank you to all who made our time perfect, we have already decided we'll be back as soon as we can. And to anyone wondering if you should or shouldn't.... do it!!!

Amazing food and service to match.

The food was good but on the day we went there were lots of big flies buzzing around which was very off putting. Not just one or two, literally about ten- some of which were landing on our drinks and food. I was so uncomfortable, wanted to get out of there ASAP but the waitress didn't know how to use the card machine so we had to wait a while before we could pay. Overall, disappointed as this place has alot of potential but didn't deliver for us that day.

I was going to give this place a full 5 stars because the food was THAT good. Everything we ordered were absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were courteous, friendly and polite. Except, we found a piece of egg shell in the king prawn chow mien we ordered. We didn’t make a big deal of it, and literally told the waitress that mistakes happen and that it’s okay. They deducted the price for the dish from the bill. We bought an egg fried rice to go, and thanked them before leaving. All’s well. We get back home, and we see ANOTHER piece of egg shell in the fried rice. Sorry, but that’s either extreme incompetence or a deliberate payback. Either way, it was too much to ignore. Shame it had to be this way.
