Khan's of Kensington in Kensington and Chelsea

First of all, do not go there if you like a glass of wine with your meal… it s all alcohol free wine, beer and Spirits… what is the point of having a wine menu if it is alcohol free? You should make it clear before we book… I had just finished a 12 hours shift and could have done with wine, my partner too and our friends visiting from Belgium wanted to taste a cider…I have been living in London for 16 years and have never seen that and would not have stayed if we weren’t at peak time and starving, this was our second disappointment. Our first, I had booked a table for 07:30 pm, they had my name down on a piece of paper and the table wasn’t ready, they had to shift people around. We didn’t have to wait too long cause it was not full but still, when people book a table get it ready. Our third disappointment is the service, it was SO BAD… I was tasting this restaurant to take a group of 40 of my clients and we won’t. First, they waited over 30 minutes before taking our order… it really wasn’t that busy…I was so hungry that I would have eaten one of my friends :), a table of Pakistani arrived 10 minutes after us and their order was taken 15 minutes before we did even though we had called the waiters 3 times to take our order and were dismissed and ignored. The waiters themselves were either ignoring us or yelling and dismissing other customers. Telling you, really, really bad service. When one of them finally came to take our order, he was clearly not happy to come to us for some reason and was arguing with his colleague a minute earlier. My partner tried to order a drink and food and the waiter said : No no you order your drink first. We did then my partner started with the dish and tried to add rice and naan. The waiter said ‘ no no, first the dish for everyone, then the rice, then the naan … I mean… if a waiter cannot organise its order, not sure they should be waiting… The food, I was starving and finished my dish, it was basic. I have many Indian and Pakistani friends, I love Indian/Pakistani food and it went down as ok, just as much as a dish you would have bought at Tesco. So overall, no I will not go back. Really bad experience and I will not bring my customers there. I love food, I usually leave great reviews or do not write reviews if I had not enjoyed it but really,I think it is important to warn people, I do not recommend this place. I do not know why they don’t serve alcohol at a restaurant, not sure if it is cultural but I do not like to be imposed one’s culture in London if it is the reason why. My Muslim friends found this quite weird too… in the heart of Kensington on the top of that!

Great food, friendly and helpful staff in a clean and bright atmosphere. Wide range of dishes for all, Veg and non-Veg. Went with a family group (3 adults, 2 children) at 6.30pm on Saturday, already busy so make sure to book in advance. Highly recommended.

It's a good restaurant to dine in and I ordered mutton biryani with raita. Biryani was very good, Raita too and you can try the same once you plan to visit. They have lots of options for drink and food. It's very close to National History Museum and Science Museum. I would recommend to reserve a table in advance if you are have a big group. Though I didn't reserve a table but I was lucky enough as 2-3 tables were empty. It's a small restaurant so table booking is recommended.

While it may have been the choice of food I went for (chicken jalfrezi) overall the food was quite disappointing in regards to this specific dish moreover, the biryani was quite bland and so was the fish. The service and atmosphere were great but the food was sadly of a low quality in my eyes respective to the price.

Was looking for a Bengali Food restaurant and then got this just in front of the station . Food and service was up to the mark. Recommended .

we had really bad experience in this restaurant, lack of respect and support for a women with a baby 4months old. we come to this place and asked for table, we got the table everything fine. but one of the staff member start to complaint where I put pushchair instead of helping and showing me where I actually can leave it. later one of the waiters come to take our order and we said that we come only for drink and feed a baby. staff member said its its not aloud only for drinks, and didn’t took our order. so there we are feeding a baby, not buying anything sitting and getting bad looks from all staff members. we been willing to spend money on drinks and leave in 20min. but instead we spend nothing.. I think you loose more in this situation then you could get. not recommended!

Unfortunate experience as we wanted to have some drinks (smoothies, etc) before a meal, but they refused to serve us as we had the pram with the baby. They asked for the table even when they saw our friend was breastfeeding her baby. Members of staff weren't kind or understanding regarding the fact we were happy to stay but there was a noticeable lack of support from the staff.

Very bad experience... It was raining outside, my friend was with 4 months old baby who was crying a lot... we came inside asking if we could sit down for a while to calm down and feed the baby. Staff was so rude, didn't want to let us sit there saying more people are coming and we are taking space, but there was plenty of free tables. We offered to order some drinks but one of the staff members said it's not allowed only drinks and that we need to go... In the end we felt soo unwanted there, all staff member were looking at us like "you need to leave now!" We left again to the rain with the baby, another restaurant near by took us and was very helpfull there was not even a question, they find us a table! Very very bad, never coming back!

Our local guide recommended Khan’s of Kensington as one of his favorite restaurants and we had a lovely experience. Great atmosphere - the interior is cozy and pretty and the staff is attentive and friendly. We ordered the onion bhajia to start, an appetizer we’ve never tried before and it was delicious. Although it’s a fried dish, it’s airy. We also got a side of chutney and pickles which went great with our meal. For mains we got a delicious butter chicken and a prawn biriyani. So glad we found this place and would definitely come back.

It was very tasty, even though it was my first time eating Indian food. The food is well seasoned and the service was also very good.

Fantastic Indian food! My husband and I got the samosas, papadums, palak paneer, garlic naan, murg korma, murg tikka. Everything was fresh and spices perfectly. The chicken was tender enough to cut with a fork. The restaurant is cozy and the waiters were all very friendly and attentive. Eat here, you won't be disappointed!

Very good food, nice service, good vibe

I was visiting a couple of days ago with my Mum. While the food was very nice, the service was (once again) under par: We ordered an entree (samosas), a chicken tikka, a paneer nilgiri tikka, an aloo gobi and two plain naans. We were served a plain naan and a peshwari naan, wondering why the latter was somewhat sweet. Yes, they offered to change it but we didn't want food to be thrown out. Worse though, the order of the panner nilgiri tikka was forgotten and had to be re-ordered - it finally arrived when one party had almost finished their food... Worst of all, before even asking for the bill, the waiter appeared not only with the bill but also with the device for card payment. We felt like being thrown out the door! My Mum said it was not the first time that she was treated somewhat second class when dining here, it happened before when she came with a female friend.

I came here on my first night in London without a reservation and although they were busy, they found me a table. The people here are really nice and attentive and the food came quickly. I ordered the chili paneer bhuna and it was delicious!! So flavorful. And the Naan was probably the best I've ever had. So fluffy and perfect. I'll definitely be going back while I'm here.

Very good Indian restaurant. Warm and smiling welcome. Server efficiency. The essential dishes are present which make you smile (cheese naan and palak paneer). The tastes and colors are there, as are the quantities. Discovery of a succulent dessert that is half liquid and half solid in a small ramekin...a treat... Very good address

They are extremely unprofessional and rude. I visited them today with my guest and the staff while taking order behaved so rudely when we inquired him about dishes. While I politely asked him to be polite and friendly with customers, he pulled the menu rudely and denied serving. I got shocked as in my entire life I have never seen such unprofessional, rude and arrogant staff and restaurant. I would never recommend such places where customers are not respected.

Turned up after a show at the RAH - so a touch late in the day, but the staff were more than happy to seat us to dine. Fantastic food - the Peshwari Naan is a must, and delicious curry and nibbles across the board. Staff were amazing; Super-helpful and went above and beyond to answer questions about the dishes and make sure we had a great time. Will be back again!

Superbly attentive. Despite just getting a simple tikka masala and butter naan, the food is so flavourful yet not too heavy for my small stomach. I especially love the Kulfi Mango desert!
