Visited with a group of friends and I had the brownie. Absolutely delicious - the hint of coconut was an interesting touch but it worked. Highly recommended!

Highly recommend. Good simple fare but really this is a great hal day activity. We drove about 10 minutes south of Oban for the ferry. I think there may also be a bus. In summer the ferry goes whenever it's full so nearly every 15 min. It takes 5 minutes to cross and honestly it took longer e purchase the tkts via app. The walk to the tea house is about an hour. Very hilly but paved or packed gravel. Castle an additional 20 min walk. Tea house has indoor and outdoor picnic tables. Bathroom. Cakes definitely worth the walk. We got in kinda late like 2 and many foods sold out. Soup and crusty roll was awesome

Had a much needed bowl of home made soup after a lovely walk from the ferry to the castle on south of the island. You can visit before or after going to the castle. We knew they were closed Tuesday and Wednesday so knew to avoid going on these days. If taking the car to the ferry suggest arriving by 10:30am as parking is limited.

Stopped on our hike our Kerrera. Got a sandwich and brownie to share. We got it to go and stopped mid way on our 10k hike to eat it. Our only disappointment was that we didn't order 2 of each. The sandwich was delicious with some kind of chutney sauce. And the brownie was arguably one of the best I've ever had. I would love that recipe. The staff was also very friendly and the service very fast. I don't know if they sell out fast, so plan to stop earlier than later.

Perfect stop for lunch and such a pretty cottage in a beautiful Location. My only concern is that I felt we were back in COVID lockdown as we were instructed (via do not enter signs) to keep back from the cottage as our orders were being taken over the fence. I think a more honest name would be Takeaway, not tea garden. The food was excellent but we didn’t feel the love.

Lovely and necessary stop on the circular Kerrera route but not sure I could say it was reasonably priced as others have stated. Although delicious, the lentil soup was £6.95! We both had a rustic roll with ham and cheese, a slither of plastic sliced cheese and rather a dry roll with the measliest spread of chilli jam and wafer of ham! Just shy of £27 for one soup, two sandwiches and two cans of pop….think I’ll bring a pack up next time!

Very welcome stop and nice food but what a lost of waste created. I love a tea garden even more with a mug and a plate not two bags, foil, compostable cup and plastic lid all to be thrown away. Just before we arrived at the tea garden I picked up rubbish (2 used soup cartons) from the path.

2.5 miles from the ferry landing, this is a very welcome stop for food and a cup of tea before heading for Glyen Castle. We had Granny's lentil soup and chorizo stew - both vegan I assume, but I cheated and added chopped chorizo and parmesan cheese to my chorizo stew. They came with a warm crusty roll and butter. There was a good range of cakes too.

Had really lovely soup and coffee at the tea garden, while walking the southern circuit of Kerrera. But this small meal created an enormous amount of waste. Everything was served in compostable containers, inside paper bags or on cardboard trays. There were a range of recycling bins with instructions on how to dispose of everything responsibly in order to save the planet. Couldn’t help thinking a better way to help save the planet would be to use proper crockery and cutlery and wash it up. It would also pleasanter to eat and drink from. It kind of spoiled the nice food, and wasn’t at all what we expected from the way the garden presents itself.

Food and drink is still all very good but they really need a shelter for people to get out of the wind and rain. Come get your lovely food and sit on the hill in the rain. Used to be so much friendlier but now you order from one gate move to another gate to pay. All very strict and institutional.

I missed our 14 day deadline to write a review on Airbnb and needed to say how special this place is. My husband and I stayed there with our dogs in April. It's not one of the places that we would normally have booked but we were stuck and I'm so happy that we did. The bunkhouse itself is dinky but has everything you need for cooking and sleeping. The outdoor toilet and shower (not outdoor but you have to walk 15 feet to get to it) was surprisingly warm and clean and with really good water pressure - I loved it! If we needed more room we went over to the Byre - it's just perfect. It's got comfy sofas, a wood burning stove and plenty of space to hang out...super super cosy with great views to the sea. Hanging out in the Byre after a day of dog walking in the rain was just perfect. Aideen and Martin are wonderful hosts and make the most beautiful cakes and soups. We brought some groceries but we could have just lived off of soup and cakes for our stay. They were able to provide us with such delights even after the tea house was closed, we just had to ask. My hubby was really really skeptical about this place but left really really impressed. Both the accommodation and food are amazing!!!

A must stop lunch spot if you are visiting Kerrera. We were fortunate with the weather when we visited, but they have a lovely indoor seating area as well as benches outdoors so you can enjoy some food whatever the weather. They have a bike rack also which was handy. We were greeted and served in a friendly and welcoming manner. We had the homemade soup and shared a slice of lemon drizzle cake. Both were delicious. The soup was packed full of vegetables and served with a crusty roll and butter (would have been better if it was homemade bread but it was still good!) The lemon drizzle cake was moist with a lovely lemon flavour throughout the sponge. I also liked that they had clearly labelled recycling bins with a focus on reducing wastage. Definitely stop for a bite to eat if you visit Kerrera for the day.

Recomiendo una escapada de 1 día a esta isla (Kerrera, a 10min en barquito dsde Oban) con varias rutas de senderismo, en especial la que pasa por esta tetería que está muy cercana también a las ruínas del Gylen Castle. These tearooms make a welcome break from the 7 mile walk round delightful Kerrera. There's a varied menu with fresh, homemade specials to refresh and revive the weary. We shared the salmon pate special, a slice of lemon drizzle cake and a pot of tea for two...just the job on a hot day in late September!I can't remember what I paid, so it must have been about right. The walk round Kerrera is a favourire of ours, with a bit of everything - a flat starter section, gradual uphills, a ruined castle, wildlife and the like all the while with great views N, S E & W. Our waitress was fine, but asked us three times whilst we were eating if we wanted anything else, then gave us the bill before we'd finished - even though space wasn't an issue. The cake was good, not great. Mine host must have been having an off day as he could be clearly heard remonstrating with a member of staff in too loud a voice.Overall, recommended, and well worth the wait for your turn over on the ferry!

Took the ferry from Oban to the Isle of Kerrera today to walk/trek out to the Gylen Castle and stop at the Kerrera Tea Garden. The ferry leaves from Gallanach Oban during the non tourist season. There are additional trips made out of the Oban Marina during the busy summer months. For a cost of £3.20 each the ferry takes the 5 minute ride, walkers and bikes only, to the Isle and drops you off. There are a few treks that you can take, one is a 2 hour walk out to the castle and back while the other is a 4 hour loop taking you past the castle and around the other side of the Isle and back to the ferry. The trek is easy, with a gravel path leading the way. Dogs are allowed if leashed. Once you make it to the Tea Garden you can stop for a nice snack, with daily specials of soups and breads or scones and tea. Great food and the views are amazing. Talk about captive audiences. £2 for a can of coke...£1.80 for a small bottle of water and dont ask about the price of a very very frozen icecream...! the soup was close to £6 and a small portion to boot,3 tiny slices of French baguette accompanied the bland watery so called homemade tomato and basil soup. So suggest you avoid this place, save yourself a fortune and bring your own food along to the island. The staff looked as miserable as the food. Avoid!

It was a day of serious monsoon like rain. Nevertheless we braved the ferry and the hour long walk...just us and the sheep. Guiding us on our way were a series of tea pots attached to fence posts and a tree. We turned up with water running off us. Even our wet weather gear had succumbed to the intensity of the rain. What a joy it was to be welcomed into the old converted Byre that is the indoor part of this wonderful tea garden. We had tea and scones and cake and the rain got heavier. We then abandoned thoughts of heading to the castle and decided we should just return to the ferry...but first we should have soup. The most delicious lentil soup warmed us through and gave us the energy to face the walk back. Thank you Kerrera Tea Garden for being so terrific.

We were very lucky with the weather on our day in Kerrara and had a wonderful walk. The sun shone and the cafe/tea room is really cute and welcoming in a lovely setting. We enjoyed our soups and tea. Our question mark lies around when we came to pay. The bill came to £15 plus, my partner gave a £20 note and was asked by the friendly blue haired waitress if he wanted the change. Now we nearly always tip as indeed we did here leaving £2 which I think is fair. But to expect in the region of 25% to 30% seems over the top. It is a bunkhouse as well and I think it would make an enticing place to stay for a few days especially at the end of the day when most people have disappeared. The views from the top of Kerrara are worth seeing and the walk around the castle not to be missed

Took a trip to Kerrera in a gap between storms. Unfortunately the heavens opened and the only thing motivating us to keep going was the quirky (and undeniably cute) teapot signs and promise of cake. Eventually we finally squelched our way to the tea garden byre where the cake gods smiled and there was thankfully enough room to deposit our soggy selfs. Rhubarb and custard cake was yummy: the tea tasted devine (probably a mixture of being wet through and the lovely tasting island water). Thought the prices were quite competitive compared to the mainland prices. Would definitely make a return visit.

Had a nice walk around the southern end of Kerrera ending up at Gylen castle, and as a reward we popped into the Tea gardens. The Byre is very eclectic in style and very homily. Tea and cake were excellent and the cake was more of a brick in size! Thre toilet was a room with a view and very quaint! lovely little sanctuary on the island.

Heading south from the ferry, follow the teapots to find a lot more than just a cup of tea. Don't resume your walk around the island before checking out the castle. Magical.

Couldn’t fault the food and hospitality in this unique spot at the southern tip of Kerrera. Food is bang on and usually utilising local produce. Get there early to beat the crowds and ensure a slice of chocolate cake available. Salads and soups to be recommended. Only negative I can add is is getting so popular that gonna be hard to get a table. Still, early bird.....

The Island is worth visiting even just for a meal in this tearoom. This is the onle place we found that was serving food but the prices were really down to earth. It is really beautiful location and cakes were soooo tasty. Would recommend to anyone.

The walk from the ferry is about 2 miles, there are signs. We were welcomed with a smile, great coffee and tasty food. The castle is just a few 100 meters around the headland Wow 👍👍👍

Lovely little cafe situation on the main walk around Kerrera island. Delicious and reasonably priced food & drink, and great signposts during the walk to keep you motivated!!! Highly recommended.

After viewing the castle, we appreciated the amenities and a light repast offered before the walk back to the southern ferry.

The tea garden has a great location for walkers on this end of the island. The tea was good after a long hike and the sandwiches were very good. Prices were reasonable.

The food was really good, especially after a few kms of walk. Prices really affordable considering it is the only restaurant on the island.

Went here today on our way back from completing the southern loop (anti clockwise from ferry) and it was the perfect stop. Delicious home made scones and the tastiest home made raspberry jam with a cup of builders tea. Perfect. Staff lovely and polite too.

An absolute delight to find this cheery spot just 2.5 miles from the ferry, an easy walk on a well marked scenic path - and plenty of signs as you get nearer to the tea garden. It has extensive outdoor and some bohemian-styled indoor seating. A delicious Greek salad and iced water refreshed us completely. And the "loo with a view" was an experience (good) in itself. A most unexpected but wonderul find.

Staff were very friendly and attentive, the food was lovely and in such a beautiful spot. Accessed it by bike (mountain bike required!): would recommend going round the loop anticlockwise so you have a nice easy return to the ferry afterwards!

A short ferry ride to the Isle of Kerrara took uson a wonderful walk. We took the long route to the tea garden (path to the right as you leave the ferry) which on a scorcher of a day took us about 2.5 hours. The hike was manageable for my 76 year old mum, but she is fairly fit and able to cope with hilly paths.

I call it Debbie's place - you'll know it when you see it! - said several of the locals on Islay. A large group of us visiting the island had spent the morning dotted across it doing various different activities. I'd asked in the brilliant Islay Natural History Trust where locally we could grab lunch and was directed to the Bruichladdich Mini Market. The place itself is run by Debbie, her mum and her sister. It's the ort of place that is the lifeblood of islands the world over - half grocery shop, half cafe - all welcoming. Debbie's sister was in charge when a group of 15 of us rocked up unannounced. This would normally not have been a problem - plenty of outside seating - but that particular day the ferry had been cancelled, along with much of the stock for the shop and cafe. Undeterred the staff there made us feel welcome and pulled together a lunch which went down very well with all - children and adults alike. Think sandwiches and toasties with great coffee and a good choice of cold drinks. They also serve some amazing cakes - I'm told the rocky road was fab, I know the chocolate cake was! Although initially under pressure when we all turned up, the staff seated us happily and we had all eaten within about 15 minutes of arriving.

Visited to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The setting on the shore of Loch Fyne overlooking the ruin of Castle Lachlan is stunning and we were able to enjoy a bottle of fizz outside our shepherds huts where we would be spending the night. After a late afternoon stroll to the castle ruins we were ready for our dinner. The tasting menu served in the evening is locally sourced and is probably the best I have ever tasted. We chose the wine pairing which was excellent and presented beautifully. After a great nights sleep breakfast is delivered to your accommodation and this is another delight. Cannot fault this place
