Kedgeree Fish & Chips in West Lindsey

This place has gone downhill rapid you cannot run a fish and chip shop with teenagers food is undercooked I have pictures to prove this one of my children had a chip on his plate that had been knowhere near the fryer you’ve got teenagers sat in the seating area causing havoc and making people uncomfortable avoid this chippy it’s shocking

Not named Kedgeree any more. New owners ??? All refurbished after a recent fire. As I live locally I decided to give them a try but usually go elsewhere. Saturday lunch time.I was one of the first customers and I had 2 regular f and c and curry sauce. Served up in nice boxes. I only live 5 mins away by car and took them straight home. On opening the boxes at home I was confronted by the biggest soggiest mess that was not really fit to eat. The batter was soggy and running with oil as was the interior of the cardboard boxes. I think the chips were cooked the previous evening and were all soft and soggy. Everything went into the bin although my dog enjoyed some on the fish. SHAN'T GO THE AGAIN. .

I tried phoning in my order so that it would be ready when I arrived. No-one picked up, so I thought they must be busy. I drove to the shop, but when I arrived less than 5 minutes after trying to phone, I found I was the only customer. I asked if they had been busy, but the boy behind the till said it had been quiet most of the evening. I gave my order - Small fish, small chips, small peas & regular fish with a chip mix - and was charged over £19. When I checked the receipt I found that I had been charged for 2 regular fish. When I pointed this out, I was told that it didn't matter, because he'd told the fryer to change it to a small fish. It took about 5 minutes of arguing, and the intervention of one of his colleagues, before the difference in price was refunded. When I got the food home, the chips were undercooked and the whole thing was swimming in oil. I'll drive to Nettlrham when we want fish and chips in the future.

Much has changed since the previous old reviews below. The shop was re-fitted last year. As we entered our order was taken and our fish was freshly cooked to order. Nicely cooked, crisp batter, packed in polystyrene box. Chips were average. Very enjoyable.

Visited on a Saturday evening. Ordered 2 x chicken, 1 small fish and 1 large chips. Food was still hot when we got home (about a 15 minute drive). Fish batter still crispy. Proper ‘old fashioned tasting’ chips. Crispy on outside, fluffy on the inside. Large portion perfect size for 2 adults to share (fish was for the dog).

I think you need to review your opening hours on here I arrived at 6.50pm this evening to find you closed!!!

Just passing through, decided we’d have chips, have been b4 and wasn’t satisfied last time, so I thought I’d give them another chance, the portions were large, but not the best I’d had, plus most of the chips were hard & under cooked.

i live local so and ordered fish and chips the fish was terrible the batter was soggy but the chips were ok, any way i decided maybe that was a one off so went back and the fish was the same so thats me out never going back again

Kedgeree chip shop Welton Received order some of the order missing. Rang the shop. Young man said he knew he hadn’t put all the order in the bag. I explained that some one went with out. I said you need to check that you put everything in the bag as we can not see you do this . Due to Covid He stated I was patronising he started to be come angry 😤 I have lived in the village for 35years but will not be returning to this chip shop. What happened to the customer always being right.

I recently placed a large order for an out door garden event, the meal was ready at the arranged time of collection and everything was well packed and all in order. The fish and chips were excellent, enjoyed by everyone. Great service too. 😀 Many Thanks

Have had food from here before and was good. This time we had fish and chips that tasted like they were cooked last week, not freshly cooked by any means. Awful, will not be going back.

Kedgeree Walton is a fantastic chippy. You always get a good old portion and the quality of the fish is excellent. Batter is perfect - not too soggy or too crispy - and there’s always the option to add a bread roll if you fancy a chip butty to cheer yourself up after a long day at work!

We visited for a weekend, staying in Cold Hanworth where it rained all day so we decided to get a takeaway for tea. Kedgeree kindly confirmed they had a separate fryer for gluten free fish and chips which made me very happy as a coeliac! I am writing this review 3 hours after eating and confirm no cross contamination occured. The batter was a little thick but everything was delicious and great portions! Absolutely recommend.

It so often takes so long to get acknowledged (let alone served) by the staff. I have walked out after 10 minutes and the queue not moving - it's quicker to get chips from the pizza place next door. Wouldn't be so bad if staff acknowledged you, rather than avoided eye contact. Chips continue to be good but fish is too often dry. Not enough food ready - maybe this means it's all cooked to order but at busy times when there are 10+ people waiting this results in not so fast food. Quicker to drive to Nettleham - where the food is better.

Portion sizes could be better, for the money you pay, I was disgusted to find that the chips were undercooked and raw, they are also tasteless. Disappointed by the service, they don’t offer salt and vinegar. As for the fish, that was in a rather unappetizing batter. All round disappointing chippy.

Visité esta tienda de chips mientras trabajaba en la zona. El muchacho detrás del mostrador se las arregló para echarme de menos parte del pedido y no me di cuenta hasta que volví a estar estábamos trabajando y sabíamos que no valía la pena volver atrás ya que habían puesto el cartel cerrado mientras Estaba esperando que ellos cocinaran la comida, de las 3 comidas que conseguí, las hamburguesas estaban demasiado cocinadas, como las patatas fritas, también la primera tienda de patatas fritas en la que he estado, que no me preguntan automáticamente si quieres sal y vinagre. cree que esto se debe a que las personas que sirven no hablan contigo a menos que tengan que hacerlo.

Always good, tasty food, polite service. Eco packaging. Veggie options. Daughters love the curry sauce and chicken burger. Decent price.

No puedo comenzar a explicar qué tan malo es este lugar. Después de visitar varias veces (siempre debido a la necesidad, no a la elección), solo empeora a medida que pasa el tiempo.Si las fichas no están crudas, están quemadas.Un pez grande proporcionará alrededor de 3 bits de pescado real, el resto es una mezcla que se ha agotado hasta una pulgada de su vida y es completamente incomestible.Así que terminarás pagando un buen pedazo por algunos bocados de pescado que necesitan ser sacados de su tumba machacada y crujiente y de 3/30 chips que no están crudos / quemados.El servicio no es mejor.La única estrella es puramente porque TA no permitirá 0 estrellas.

Food took ages to be prepared even though it wasn't overly busy. Overpriced, low quality. Didn't even offer salt & vinegar! What kind of establishment is this? Staff seemed overwhelmed despite only having a few orders. Won't be back.

I’ve used Kedgeree for years. They continue to maintain high standards, are very friendly and have a card system for a free meal after you have bought a number of £10 meals.

No soy local, pero estoy en el camino de ver a mi abuelo para cenar. Puse lo que pensé que era un simple pedido de 2 x fish and chips e incluso les pedí que lo verificaran dos veces cuando el precio sonaba mal. Bajo y he aquí, cuando mi pedido fue llamado, revisé dos veces el recibo y estaba equivocado. Luego me llevó unos buenos 5 minutos explicarles cómo rectificar mi pedido. Ambos servidores parecían muy nerviosos y un poco lentos, ¿entonces quizás habían puesto a dos personas nuevas?

Kedgeree is one of the few fish and chip shops in Lincoln to provide Gluten Free Fish in GF batter .WE had prompt efficient service . Recommended for Coeliacs.

Tengo miedo de decir que mi experiencia fue mala desde el principio. Cuando entré en la tienda, había varios clientes sentados comiendo, pero yo era la única persona que esperaba ser atendido. ¡El joven en el mostrador me ignoró por completo y me dejó allí de pie por cinco o seis minutos sin reconocerme o incluso sin mirarme! Aprecio que haya estado ocupado pero todo lo que tuvo que decir fue "Estaré contigo en breve", para dejar en blanco a un cliente es simplemente grosero.

Good as is the only chippy where I live but it could be nicer. Good service and nice enough food but service takes a while

La tienda estaba vacía (no es una mala cosa) y el miembro de personal (un chico en sus 20 años) era educado y rápido.

Habiendo sido diagnosticados con celiaquía quedé muy impresionado con el gluten pescado y patatas fritas gratis disponibles en le ofrecerá también, tienen una freidora, a anillo independiente para realizar su pedido con anticipación que era todo listo para la colección cuando llegamos. Una experiencia positiva que es genial para todos aquellos que tienen que seguir la dieta sin gluten

El pescado está bien, pero son muy pobres, patatas fritas patatas fritas tenía mejor horno, incluso el perro convertido a su nariz. Tome un viaje a nettleham en vez

Acabamos de terminar un delicioso preparado de este después de descubrir que abren a las 16.30 un sábado por la noche su sesión. Me había maltratado, salchichas, patatas fritas y blanda los guisantes. Mi marido había pescado, patatas fritas y salsa de curry. Ah, sí y por supuesto que tuvimos scrumps. (la mejor!) porciones eran enormes, las patatas fritas eran agradables y las rústicas y preciosas y caliente cuando llegamos a casa. El precio era de £10.15. Personal que era muy amable. Sin duda recomendaría este chips

Este ha venido bajando en las últimas semanas. Solía ser buen pescado y patatas fritas, pero de nuevo esta noche el bacalao era pequeña, regular en seco y sin sabor y obvio que se sentaba allí bastante tiempo. Las patatas fritas estaban secos y una completa pérdida de dinero, tiró más de distancia! No estaremos molestando de nuevo

Having used this chip shop for many many years, I went to get tea on 29/04 but was disgusted by what the young lady who served me thought was appropriate as a regular portion of chips! Having paid nearly £15 for 2 fish 2 regular chips a chicken pie and peas, to get home and find no more than 30 chips in the both cartons was appalling. Maybe the lady in question has to pay if giving more??? Added to that she appeared to be the most miserable person on earth, ordering her colleagues about in a manner more akin to a prison officer. Having said all this the food was nicely cooked but avoid if you see a young lady with glasses behind the counter.

I would have given 5 stars but I think they are very careful on chip portions and occasionally I think the fish is on the small side. It's not the cheapest either, but ok. Excellent hygiene rating.

No time to cook, popped in for convenience, food average, have had better, would prefer the food to drain a little before serving.

Spent £17 on 3 Haddock & chips with peas & curry sauce to drive 0.75 mile back home to find everything except the peas cold. Rang the chippie up to inform them & got no apology from the young lady, no offer to re-do our order, in other words 'I don't believe you'!One thing having a complaint, another thing having the complaint dealt with in a sympathetic customer focussed way. If I drive approx. 5 miles to the next (& excellent) chippie at Nettleham Fields & return home with the same order it's at least warm by the time I get back home.Back to Nettleham Field's chippie for me next time where they offer CONSISTENT quality fish & chips.

Been calling here on and off for numerous years and generally only have a small box of chips. I have tried the fish a couple of times and it's always been well above average. Chunky lower fat chips served in a bio-degradable box, always been hot, tasty, nice colour and fulfilling, staff are always smiling and pleasant too, small box of chips currently priced at £1.30Wont be long before I call again.

After Nigel left we feel that the overall standard has dropped. Seems hit and miss if the food is piping hot or not. Orders that have to be cooked to order are still available and are probably worth the wait to ensure fresh hot food. Still better than some chippys about tho.
