Kebab.ji (Syrian Cuisine) Restaurant in North Dorset

We ordered for delivery tonight for the first time (02/11/24) firstly we placed our order by phone my wife spoke to a really polite and helpful gentleman and the food was delivered in good time and was absolutely delicious ! This could be a new favourite for us. We had chicken Shawarma with rice and bread and chips on the side. I should have ordered the tzatziki to go with it but there’s always next time. Well done guys

We had a great meal yesterday evening. The owner and his wife were very friendly. The food was excellent (and also so nicely presented). Very good quality, good portions and reasonably priced. Highly recommend the tabbouleh, hummus and halawa.

This popup restaurant serves good food at a reasonable price: only open Friday and Saturday evening. It's run by just two people so don't expect perfect service, you will need to be patient, but it's worth it. The church hall is not the ideal ambience but I guess it keeps the costs to be kept down. If you want to try Syrian cuisine at home why not use the take out service. For the price it's good. Only soft drinks served in cans.

What a joy to stumble upon this place! Its really like a pop up in village hall, serving amazing homecooked food by the couple who run it. We ordered a selection of authentic (and vegan) sides, and throughly enjoyed the meal. There was so much left, we had the leftovers for lunch the next day. One of the best meals of our holiday in the area!

Mohammed and his wife welcomed us warmly . The Syrian cuisine was delicious. Fresh and of course, authentic.We enjoyed everything! We had all been to Syria so this was a special treat . Above all, Mohammed and his wife were so warm and hospitable.We encourage others to go! We shall return!

This has to be my favourite restaurant, the meal was unbelievably delicious, fresh , flavoursome and flawless service. We loved the owners who ,when we left, felt like our friends.Our next visit will be with family and our friends…can’t wait. Thank you both, so much 🕊🕊

A friend and I went went here for dinner while cycling through the area and it was fantastic. The food was delicious and everyone was really friendly. I would strongly recommend the place.

After living in the Middle East for 10 years, trying this food for the first time brought us right back there! Excellent food, perfectly prepared, all the right flavours we know so well. Had a take away, generous portions, perfect to share like a typical mezze.

The food lives up to all the descriptions on here. Just had my first take away and feeling full, but not bloated, even though the portion was large. Beautiful subtle flavours with just enough spice to make the tongue tingle in one dish.Not normally a fan of rice but this was so good, I could have eaten it as a main meal. Gorgeous Syrian bread is also highly recommended. To top it all fresh, crunchy salad in a great dressing. We will be back!

We visited on Saturday 10th June. My wife and mother in law tried the Shish Taouk, One with chips and one with kabsa rice. I had the Shawarma with kabsa rice and we shared a yogurt salad. The chicken was moist, chunky and nicely seasoned. Grilled to perfection. The rice was very tasty and rich with nuts, olives and sultanas. The salads were fresh and well seasoned with fewer pickles. The yogurt salad was more like a sauce and a great complement to the meal with flavours of fresh mint and garlic and very moreish. We were too full for a complete dessert after the generous main plates but sampled the halva and baklava. Do try to leave space for them yourselves, they were delicious with the flower tea and turkish coffee. 5 stars from us all, what a great way to have a Saturday evening meal.

What a wonderful restaurant. The hosts are warm and welcoming. And the food is all freshly prepared and absolutely delicious with huge portions. We went on a Saturday evening and it was almost empty. Somewhere of this quality should be bursting with diners. Three of us ate shared starters, main courses and one pudding and it was exceptional value. If I didn't live 120 miles away I'd eat here every opportunity. V highly recommended. They also deliver locally.

Never had a takeaway with so much oil. Carrier bag filled with oil and container filled with oil. Also got order wrong.

Ordered takeout as a birthday meal for six people to eat at home. As someone who has never eaten Syrian cuisine and often has a hard time with food I am unfamiliar with I was anxious to try but everything was so delicious I needn’t have worried. I asked for a couple of changes to my order and the person serving us was extremely helpful and understanding and didn’t make me feel silly for asking loads of questions and making changes. He also helped me to decide what to eat by showing me photos of previously cooked dishes on his phone of what each dish looks like. He then labelled my box so that we knew which one was mine. I can confirm that all of this food is cooked from scratch as the kitchen was in plain view of where we were sat waiting and we could see it being made and raw ingredients being taken out of boxes etc. The shawarma was seasoned really well, heavy in flavour but not too spicy (I am quite sensitive to spice and could really appreciate the way this was made). The garlic bread was nice, prepared in house and cut into adorable little heart shapes. Chips were also good and they were happy to provide some sachets of ketchup for me even though I would imagine it’s not a common condiment in Syrian culture. We also got a few dishes to share between the group, including one of each of the desserts which were both absolutely gorgeous. While we were waiting I put my phone on charge as it was on 2%, I then forgot it when we left and didn’t realise until we had gotten home. I called the number attached to this listing and they said I could come back and get it, staying open later especially for me to go and pick it up. Super sweet of them and I’m really grateful they were so kind as to wait for me. Payment is cash only but there was an atm just down the road so we went and got some money out while they cooked our food and there were no issues with this. I would assume this is a very small operation run by a local family, they were very sweet and happy to help with anything we needed. It was nice to know we were supporting a local vendor. I would highly recommend Gillingham Syrian Cuisine and will no doubt be ordering from them again. Thank you!

Very disappointing food was pretty cooked and the shwarma was packet chicken with stale chips on a George foreman grill the lamb labouse was not chunks of lamb like the picture they show it was mince meat they also give you one small sachet of sauce for a whole meal customer service was nice but the food was not I would avoid this place especially when there's a kebab round the corner that does the same food and better.

Congratulations on the Syrian Cuisine Taster Evening last night. It was fun and the food was lovely and we would definitely come again. Feeding 40 people at once is no mean feat!

This is the second takeaway I have had from here and it really is such good food. Very authentic Syrian quisine, each dish has it's own unique flavour and is very delicious. The food is well presented, well cooked and very satisfying. I'm really hoping that can have their own kitchen one day! Does not disappoint!

Decided to treat us to a delivery dinner, (which I don't often do as mostly they are very lack-lustre) and had heard good things about the Syrian restaurant. I have to say it was superb! Beautiful flavours- very fresh, with a good variety of dishes and delivered to our home for free as well. Plus a very friendly service, which always counts a lot in my book. What crossed my mind was " I could invite some friends over and order this!" I thoroughly recommend it.

FIRSTLY... This food was SO GOOD! We ordered for five people for my birthday meal, and said that we wanted more veggie food due to me being vegetarian and also said we needed it to be nut free. This was important due to my nut allergy. My mum was in contact a lot with the owner and they were really happy to help. We just asked for a selection of things for everyone to share and WOW DID IT IMPRESS! Such an amazing selection of seriously fresh and delicious food. They got it just right and we were so happy! Thank you so much for making my second birthday in lockdown brilliant! Finally, If you're thinking of getting food from here, you will not be disappointed. And it was really good value for money 🙌

Fabulous tasting food, wonderful variety of flavours that are fresh and delicious. Particularly great Mutabal (Syrian Babaganoush) and the show stopping Maqlouba was amazing. They cater really well for vegetarians and nut allergies. Mohamad was really helpful and friendly.

We had an amazing Mother’s Day feast from here! Really fresh, very tasty food; lovely to be able to try such a variety of authentic handmade Syrian food! Even all the sauces and dips were great. The service was amazing, delivered right on time and very friendly- we will definitely be ordering again. Thank you! :)
