Kaspas in Colchester

Staff had no interest in helping with allergy information. Was told there was no allergy menu and that there was “probably” nothing we could have. I pushed and was told they could not be sure what ingredients were included! I pushed again and was handed an allergy folder. No dairy free ice cream options at all. Only one sorbet dish. How out dated! And disgracefully dismissive of our young boys needs in a family venue.

I loved the waffles even tho they were too waffley they tasted so waffle like with waffle textures and waffle ice cream thank you for your time

I come here regularly because my kids love it. But the service is consistently terrible. Just ordered 6 deserts for our family. 5 came out together, the other one came after we’d all finished. In the gap in between, several other tables got their deserts. I complained but the duty manager just defended their process. It happens every time we come. Just need a decent competitor to open up and I’m done with this place

This place is really dirty. The toilets are disgusting and we went when it first opened at lunchtime so clearly not been clean. No toilet paper. My partner said as soon as he walked past the kitchen there was a guy making a milkshake and he sneezed into the glass, not putting his hand over his mouth. So we avoided the milkshakes and got ice cream and waffles. We should have really left after we saw that man. I went to kaspas when it first opened and it was lovely but this has seriously gone downhill. Staff all seem to be young even though they where pleasant but cleaning is such an issue. The menus where all dirty and sticky and full of food. Some falling apart. Just isn’t the same as when it first opened and don’t think we will be coming again.

This area is really clean and tidy, the staff are really friendly when serving guests and go above and beyond to make people happy! The food was lush and is a definite must do if ever visiting. Everything is so tasty and it’s got massive portions for a reasonable price! It’s fit for everyone not matter what you like!

Terrible customer service, delivery arrived with missing item, what did arrive looked messy and unappetising, when I called the shop they blamed the driver and took no responsibility, I asked to speak to the Manager and they put the phone down. Would never order or eat at Kaspa’s again, disgusted with their service.

All buzzing to grab a sweet treat after an immaculate curry made by an absolute star on arrival from home, wasn’t officially welcomed in to said place but there was a chance to save it! A white choc waffle was superb in all fairness, sensational however the Fanta I ordered was not which is truly devastating as a Fanta connoisseur! Company was world class but the service sits just above average, could be better but that’s something for the individual to work on. Would I return? Maybe…

Came here with my daughter and wished I hadn’t. Staff not friendly at all, young boy on the till didn’t know what he was doing or how to take my order so another member of staff had to take over. My daughters drink came and I was never given my bottle of coke which I then had to ask for. Was given a warm bottle of coke with the bottle cap still on so I had to ask for it to be taken off. The waffles were horrible, were barely warm and crispy round the outside. Toilets not very clean and lock wasn’t working, read in another review that the lock wasn’t working and that was in September! I have emailed and complained but no one has replied.

Visited 2 adults 2 11yr old kids. Lady at till friendly and took order without issues. Food was fair for the price and well played up. The issue was with waiting staff. Unfriendly food came out individually One member of staff just dumped a desert on table. Another was sulky never spoke, even when leaving we said goodbye and thankyou. Was totally ignored. The surroundings was clean and well kept. It was only the rudeness of staff that spoilt our visit. It is not a cheap place to go. I expect better service and politeness.

Been there a few times. Service and food quality is very good and friendly. For kebab-driven cuisine: it feels maybe a tad pricey to me but I suspect I am just prejudiced by the excellent takeaway services available around the corner on Queen Street . There was a glitch with payments where a member of our party realised she had been overcharged by a tenner on the card reader, when she got home. She didn't take it back to the restaurant and it was probably a genuine error.

Visited this place this evening, queued to be given a menu then told to queue again once ready to order. The place was dirty, staff talking to each other, on phones, not sure if it was there delivery drivers or friends of staff but these two guys started vaping ( whilst talking to the staff that were on their phones) in the store! Over priced, for a dump of a place that clearly has no hygiene, no care. We went over the road to whimpy ! Which was clean, staff really engaged with the kids and the desserts were but one get one free!

The restaurant was run by uninterested kids with seemingly no mature adult in charge. They were unorganised and unhelpful. One obviously had a cold and kept wiping their nose with their hand (and not washing), another was just standing there picking her nails. To top it all off, there was someone drilling while we waited for our food. For a ‘treat’ it certainly wasn’t a very pleasing experience.

We took our children as a treat on Sunday and arrived about 12.15. As we walked in the smell instantly hits you, kind of stale and unkept smell. The first thing the server said was “we haven’t got any strawberries” then followed by “ we are also out of milkshakes”. There was no greeting or coming courtesy upon arrival. There were only about 3 tables taken and as we looked around, the decor was almost like someone was undecided on paint colour with patches all over the walls. Unfortunately we decided to leave as my 7 year old couldn’t take the smell. Shame as it used to be our favourite place to go.

I planned on visiting for a birthday celebration on the 12th September for 4 people. We thought what better way to celebrate with a lovely indulgent dessert. Well we were wrong I am disgusted with my experience. On entering we were met by a young lad that looked 18 and showed us to a booth that had a plastered patch above it. We asked to sit near the window as this was not very appealing. On sitting by the window, there was a door left open which housed the hoover and various items why this was not closed is beyond me. You don’t go to restaurant to look at a mop. We looked at the menu’s they were sticky and the general decor was tired and needed updating urgently. We went to the counter to order food and drinks and when the same boy came out with our drinks he just had bottles no glasses we asked for glasses and ice and he returned with dirty glasses I am not sure if they had been washed or damaged by the dishwasher, either way they needs binning and replacing. We also noticed that his clothes were covered in food stains which was clearly not only from that day. My partner went to the toilets on returning she said that they were disgusting. There were three toilets first out of order, the second the door did not lock the tap was broke and constantly running the third was smelly and dirty. I pride a restaurants hygiene by the state of the bathrooms it was blatant that no care or cleaning had been done in a long time. When the waitress came over with our food there was a long blonde hair attached to my plate. My friend said right we are not eating here, the waitress also had filthy clothes on covered in food stains, we said we are not eating and asked for a refund she why I explained about the hair which would put anyone off without the added issues. I asked if she washes her aprons she said I work with food. I have been in many restaurants and not seen the state of these clothes this was not one days worth at a guess I would say a weeks worth. On closer inspection whilst waiting for a refund the bins were overflowing, the floor looked like it had been mopped with a 6 month old mop, leaving dirty steaks all over the floor, the cabinets housing the deserts had drips down it. Please avoid, management seriously need to sort this place out, the hygiene standards were very low.

We haven’t been since before the pandemic and oh my, the place has gone downhill (it was never great before but now it’s AWFUL). There were plenty of staff behind the counter (I counted 7) but we still had to wait a while to be seated. Then we had to queue for ages at the counter to place our order as none of the staff seemed to know what they were doing (what happened to waiter service or app ordering?!) There didn’t seem to be anyone managing it. The place is in dire need of a good clean and refurb. It is grubby and run-down. There were plates of finished food left all over the place and big areas of wall with no paint… I didn’t go into the toilets but another customer told me that they were disgusting. It’s such a shame as my kids liked the novelty factor of the desserts but even they agreed that it is a bit rubbish now. We will not be coming back.
