Kardomah in Swansea

We visited the Kardomah restaurant yesterday, for a coffee and light lunch.We were given a good reception by the owner/manager, who explained all their Covid precautions, while we waited for a table to be cleared and sanitised.Once seated one of their lovely waitresses took our order of coffee and home made Cawl (a beautiful Welsh lamb soup), we throughly enjoyed our lunch in timeless and comfortable surroundings. Thank you Kardomah....

Called here today with a friend, we both had chocolate cake which was delicious. The cafe is always spotless, customer service faultless and choices of food is wonderful.Staff are always friendly. Incidentally, the scrambled egg on toast is perfection. My favourite cafe in Swansea.

My friend and I were shopping in Swansea yesterday after months of not being able to. We decided to stop for lunch in a place renowned for its home cooked food. I’d rung the restaurant previously to ask what precautions they were taking relating to Covid and had been reassured. On entering it was clear they were true to their word, even down to wiping the tables and chairs between customers. We enjoyed our meal very much, and the service was great too as usual.We just wanted to say thank you for making us feel safe.

I’m usually a huge fan of the kardomah but today made me think differently. Mum has been shielding because of Covid19 and has struggled to get out until now. We went in today and one of the waitresses shouted at mum for not spitting the tiny arrows they have on the floor (one way system) as mum made her way to a table. It’s the first time mum has eaten out since before lockdown so it really shook her up. We sat down and I calmed mum down and then we decided to leave (this time looking out for the tiny arrows). Mum was wearing a mask (as was I) and the wait read could see how apologetic mum was for not spitting them but still persisted with lecturing her. This isn’t a criticism of the food - always lovely and the setting is really nice but the customer service definitely needs to be worked on. Very upset.

Very well organised, friendly staff, speedy service AND the breakfast was awesome ! Cleaned and COVID-19 friendly.

Swansea’s legendary cafe still delivering the goods! Great Covid efficient but friendly service ,delicious home cooked food served on clean vintage style Formica topped tables . Lovely selection of coffees too .. a much when visiting Swansea City centre .. Fablussss !

I have just been to the kardomah with my mother, and there are amazing safety procedures in place. Felt very safe! Also, enjoyed amazing food as always!

As always, service is excellent. Food is always top notch. Coffee is to die for. Being over 6 foot tall makes it difficult to get my legs under the beautiful, classic tables which are characteristic to the 1950s decor. Prices are more than reasonable. Such a lovely place, with a warm welcome and nothing is ever to much bother. If you havent been here yet, make sure you do visit.

Lovely food, excellent fresh roasted coffee and excellent service.This is the home of The Gower Coffee company, a lovely local coffee roasters who produce a roast for all tastes. This is now my go-to coffee, I recommend the caffeine loaded eye opening Italian roast to fuel the day!Not only is the coffee excellent but the food is fresh, good value, tasty and served in a traditional 50’s table service complete with trad waitress uniform. You also don’t end up smelling of cooked breakfast, which I can’t stand. Winner all around.

Absolutely lovely food and amazing price . We had the three course Christmas dinner and it was delicious. A really lovely good old fashioned restaurant.

This is a very old and very popular restaurant in the centre of Swansea. I am ashamed to say that I don’t ever recall going to this lovely place until today. We walked in and as soon as we sat at a table a waitress came to see if we needed anything whilst we perused the menu. We both had the breakfast which consisted of an egg a rasher of bacon 2 sausages beans fried bread and toast topped off with a frothy milky coffee. Very tasty very hot and the service was excellent. We will be back 8 am sure

Went to Swansea to watch a play st the Gran today and had to pop into Kardomah, for lunch, always busy and I mean busy as it is so popular but shown to a table straight away, lovely friendly staff, order taken quickly and food arrived quickly too. Piping hot and plenty of it, I could not resist the turkey dinner with trimmings whilst the missus had jacket spud with red thai curry, real oven cooked jacket too. Both meals simply superb, if visiting or shopping Swansea I can heartily recommend this family run business. They also sell coffee beans of the various bays and beaches in and around the gower, including decaf beans. Set lunchtime menu is very good value.

Had food here with the family this morning. It was excellent. Old fashioned but it’s lovely. Excellent friendly staff too. The food was fantastic. Excellent quality and very good value for money. 100% recommended

My mum and I visited today. Mum wanted bacon liver and onions and I had red curry half and half. We both enjoyed our lunch today. I was impressed with the furry good quality chicken and a spicy kick of spices. I was full up and enjoyed a good coffee to wash it down. The waitress was charming and attentive. I need to Bring my friends.

So I’ve lived in Swansea since May and was totally unaware of this place. The mother in-law took me and the other half here.The decor is a little outdated but that just adds to its charm. We came in and found a seat straight away and the place was rammed.Despite it being so busy the staff were fast on their feet and service was extremely fast. The food came out just as fast and the prices....well I’ve not seen prices these good since way before 2005!!!I will definitely come here again!!!

Me and my mum often have lunch here, she has been coming here since she was a little girl and loves to reminisce. I was having lunch with my baby in the outside seating area when my baby was sick while sitting in her pram. A member of staff quickly came to my aid to help and clean everything including my pram while I dealt with my baby! Unbelievable customer service, she couldn’t of been more helpful and I was very grateful. The food is great, the staff are great. We love this place!!

As a family we have been to this cafe for many years . It’s quite a personal thing for me as when I had my son 18 years ago his first visit to Swansea was a stop off here subsequently each child I had on our first visit to Swansea we stopped here for lunch as the staff were always friendly attentive and the food was good value for money. 18 years on and as with each baby aged between 18 and 18 months with our new addition we stopped here a few days ago what a difference . The waitress was rude I asked if my 11 year old could have cheese on her burger meal she huffed and puffed and said kids meals don’t come with cheese considering she wasn’t having beans or peas what’s a tiny bit of cheese??? Secondly £7.50 for a cheese and ham toasted sandwich very overpriced for the quality you can get a very good main course in other establishments for same price. Chocolate fudge cake was dry when we asked for a second piece for my other daughter again was huffed and puffed at like it was too much effort . Poor service very expensive £70 for a lunch out never again

Came across this pleasant cafe whilst sightseeing around the city and what a very pleasant experience.Quite difficult to access with a wheelchair but the staff were very friendly and helpful..Good basic food,well cooked and presented.Large selection of real coffee ground to take away while we were dining.Overall a very enjoyable experience.

I am currently sitting in the Kardomah having just eaten the most delicious home made scone that I have ever tasted, light and not dry, unlike a lot of other places, it was delicious!!Staff really helpful and polite. Pleasure to eat somewhere with nice traditional values.

or a change today I went to an eatery that has served Swansea for many years.I remember my aunty taking me when I was little. I havent been back since but it was how I remembered it. The waitresses were very quick and efficient I was served my starter about 2 minutes after ordering, full of smiles, greeting regulars knowing what they were going to order.A simple starter done very well with a rich tomato taste. Mains was delivered on a hot plate. Every thing was cooked exactly how I like carrots not like mush. Beef had a lovely strong taste.Apple tart and custard. A lovely way to finish off the dinner reminded me of a school dinner dessert lovely.15 pound for this a coffee and a glass of lemonade

I have been coming here all my life and so has my mother. I am going to put this visit down to hopefully a blip. Fish and chips. Fish unbelievably greasy and inedible. Tried a few bites. Ergh. No mention made when plate taken. Had a chocolate Sunday to cheer me up. Vanilla icecream was a very cheap type and had all crystallized as if thawed and then frozen. Please please please let this be a blip. Was Ill for the rest of the day.

I always call in when I’m in town. I used to visit from a young age with my mother. So many memories and the decor has not changed. Staff are friendly, the place is always buzzing. Coffee is superb. You can buy beans to take away or ground. One of Swansea’s gems.

The Kardomah represents the heritage of Swansea. It has always been there since I was a young girl. I hadn't visited for a few years but popped in on Friday. Being on a so called diet I thought no can't eat yet. I saw the menu and thought that's a good choice of meals, snacks, and drinks at good prices. I had a chicken Thai jacket potato and my mum had liver and onions. My mum asked for a few more onions as I scwurmed on the seat, no problem I'll get that for you now ( words to that effect)said Marcus ( The owner). I looked around and yes time has stood still in this restaurant but certainly not the service. Great care is taken of the largely older clientele and they seem to keep coming back for good reason. Louise thank you for helping my mum with access to the toilet. I'm hoping I can get my niece to check this place out, we all need to keep it going. I am gutted I haven't been going there enough. I will be back .

We all ordered the dinners and when they came out the meat was dry and tasteless and the veg was over cooked and mushy we complained and got told that "this is how it always is" we asked if we could get a refund and where told that we could not. I looked at the coffee beans here and found that you can get them cheaper online as this place adds more in top of the price rip off I say.So I won't be taking family here again.

We visited here and wow what a great cafe. The food and staff are exceptional. Our waitress was Tracey and what a lovely kind sincere waitress she was. We will be leaving this place with very fond memories and shall most definately be returning soon. Both me and my wife had fish, mine I had with chips and my wife had hers with Jacket potatoe. Everything was done really well. Simply put the 'Plaice' to be. Excuse the pun.

Lived in Swansea and overlooked this place as uninteresting from the outside and thought it was an old tatty restaurant.Read the reviews on here and decided to take the plunge early in the morning and agree its a great cafe. I spent about £8 on a breakfast with extra black pudding and bacon. All of it was stellar. What can I say..it drips vintage style in its delivery. All clean and classy.Free top ups of excellent coffee. Competitively priced for what I ate.Yup its full marks all round.

Never miss a visit to this restaurant when I go home to Wales from my home of the past 30 years in England. I've been coming to this restaurant/ café since I was a child in the 70's. It has not changed one bit! Same tables, same decor. It has almost cult status in Wales...featuring on Welsh TV often. Great coffee. Superb breakfasts from toast alone, to VERY full English. 3 course set traditional lunch fantastic value at around £10 for 3 courses. This visit I had the home made veg soup to start (with a big fresh roll and butter), chicken dinner for main and sponge with strawberry jam and coconut on top with custard for pud....I was transported right back to my nan's home cooking! Home cooked food with super quick, attentive and friendly service. They also cater for more modern palates with curry, lasagne etc or just a nice bit of cake with your coffee. Kardomah.. Please don't ever change!!

Called here recently on a busy lunchtime. Both front of house and waiting staff were efficient and friendly. The large café has hardly changed in decades but all is clean and well maintained.

Hadn't been in here for years after living away, food still fantastic and staff friendly and helpful , thoroughly enjoyed taking my parents back a few weeks later for a lunch

Cant fault this place. Passed it for so many years and never called in. The best cappuccino ever (beats costa) and a delicious raspberry pancake. Only little gripe is the squirty cream but still didnt put me off. My bf had chicken salad baguette...fresh and filling. The service is superb with attention to detail. The little things matter. Lots of coffees and stovetop espressos (bialettis) think they're called. Some great xmas gift sets for those that would appreciate the finer things and a great coffee of course! 5 stars!! Will no doubt become a regular of ours!

Had the cottage pie which was lovely, but some chips were raw. Plates are small, but meals are usually good value here, except for the desserts which are overpriced. Service is always excellent here, and waitresses are very friendly. Nice clean surroundings. Will definitely return

A marvellous place which has retained its decor and charm from its opening in the 1960s. Old style service of excellent coffee and consistently good breakfasts and lunches. The best value cafe in Swansea.

Great home cooking at a very reasonable price. Have to visit every time I'm in Swansea and it never disappoints. Food is good, staff are great and I leave full and happy every time.

Many visits to Kardomah and have never felt disappointed. Popped in today for coffee and a tea cake, also a milk shake. Very cheerful server and fast service. Why go to any posh coffee place when you can go here. We had a free coffee top up, where can you get that ?

This place is fantastic. I had not been here for years and my own time in Swansea, but stopped for breakfast after taking daughter to a uni exam. Great simple breakfast.. lovely coffee and a refill wasn't added to my bill. The best thing is the 'feel' of the place .. a classic old school Welsh-Italian cafe, but spotlessly clean.

A huge thank you to the Kardomah team for looking after my mother following fainting episode she had whilst having lunch yesterday. The team went above and beyond and we as a family are very grateful.

Visited for lunch and was not disappointed, the food was good at a good price, the staff were friendly, and I loved the fact the waitresses wear black dresses and white aprons, it has a feeling of a bygone era, the staff seem to know a lot of the customers ,Which is always a good sign, would definitely visit here again if we were in the area.

The kardomah has been in Swansea and the same premises forever. I was inSwansea recently and met up with friends and took my daughter. The coffee is exactly as I remember it 40 years ago as is the set up and menu style. Delicious 40 years ago and delicious now. Great example of “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it”.

We are frequent visitors when in Swansea, always enjoying the food. However, today our daughter and her partner had their twins with them. The staff were extremely accommodating, welcoming, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Wouldn't have expected anything different!

Went in to ask if my partner, my dog and I could come in for coffee (we were all soaked by the heavy rain outside) and was given a flat ‘no’ with no reason given.Very disappointing, and I won’t visit again, even without my dog.

We only called in for breakfast. The staff are lovely and the food was great. It’s worth a visit just because it is old.

Stopped for coffee and toasted teacake at the Kardoma café yesterday,good coffee,good food only drawback was the long walk upstairs to the toilets no good for handicapped customers like myself

Came here for lunch with my family. We had 2 small children (one in a pram) staff were so helpful to get us all seated quickly and comfortably. My baby decided to projectile vomit in her pram.. a member of staff actually came out with soapy water and cleaned everything up for me! I was so grateful. Me and mum come here for lunch whenever we are in town, my mum has been coming here since she was younger. Lovely food, so accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend!!

I knew the Kardomah in the 1950's as a child. The 70's as a student. Now in 2018 I return as a tourist to find it exactly the same in every respect but that of prices.

Food was was very good. The owners were working and gave us a little bit of the history of the place. Dylan Thomas was a frequent patron.

It was like stepping back in time. I hadn’t been to the Kardomah for many years but decided stay for lunch when buying coffee beans. It looked just like it did in the 60s, but that was where the similarity ended. The menu had plenty of choice at reasonable prices and the waitress was friendly and helpful. Our meals arrived quickly and were generous portions. The food was piping hot and very tasty. I won’t be leaving it for so long until my next visit!

The kardomma restaurant/cafe, is a family owned business.very busy especially lunch times, great selection of roast dinners and a extensive menu including home made sponge,s. Recommended for visitors to Swansea City Centre. Guaranteed a warm Welsh welcome from the extremely friendly waitresses

Went here for breakfast. The decor never changes, but it serves good honest food. Its not false like some more modern coffee houses, and the service is excellent.

I visit Kardomah pretty much every time I visit Swansea. The food is good, wholesome, home cooking and the customer service is second to none. It’ harks back to a time when your custom was truly valued and you genuinely feel welcomed, unlike the corporate smile and false bon homie you get in the high street chains.

Always visit this cafe when we are in Swansea. The food is excellent. Staff cant do enough for you, 1st class service every time. Highly recomended

Shopping in Swansea and no visit would be complete without lunch in the wonderful kardomah restaurant, never fails to please and today was no different, fancied a salad, so ordered the egg and prawn salad, it was gorgeous, very fresh and looked good and, a very large one too, wife had a panini and salad which was also gorgeous. They also do their own Gower coffee, both beans and ground or they will grind it as you wish on premises, the smell is amazing. All food is home made and cooked fresh and just divine, deserts are made fresh every day and look fabulous, being good I refrained...just..if in Swansea, call in for a great welcome and superb food.Great offers on set dinner lunches too.

Great breakfast at the Kardomah. Good food, generous portions and friendly staff. There’s an extensive selection of ground coffee available at the front of house and some local blends which make great gifts for coffee lovers. I try and visit whenever I’m back in Swansea.

Amazing place stepping back in time. My friend first ate there as a child. Wonderful friendly atmosphere. We opted for the omelettes which were huge and salad all fresh produce and beautifully cooked. The menu is vast all the food being served looked fantastic. Excellent service would definitely eat there again cosy quaint charm.FOOD COOKED WITH LOVE :-)

Haven’t been to the Kardomah for a few years, will be returning a lot sooner. The service was as it’s been for as long as I can remember, excellent, the food was delicious. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. This visit was the first my daughter remembers, she was a toddler last time we went, she also wants to return. It’s lovely to find somewhere that hasn’t changed and is still as excellent as it was.

Well what can I say the kardomah is a brilliant place to go. The staff are absolutely amazing and so friendly. They look after my nan eveytime she goes in for lunch and can't thank them enough for that. The food is always delicious and meat locally sourced. Whenever we come to Swansea we head here as the kids love the kids meals and the ice cream. Love the old decor as everywhere else is so modern. Keep up the amazing work guys

Went here yesterday for a family lunch for my wifes birthday, the staff were excellant and my wife who is celiac was able to have a gluten free christmas roast dinner and a trifle for pudding for the first time in a long time, it was a real pleasure watching her enjoy a meal so much definatly the place to go if you need gluten free just ask the staff very knowlegable as was the owners the only place to go now when in Swansea once again thanks for making my wifes birthday so special for her and waitress that served and looked after us it was a pleasure, food was fantastic as well

I sometimes go to the Kardomah for lunch. Their food is home cooked and tasty and won't break the bank. Staff friendly and offer a good service.

Some people may regard the Kardomah as old fashioned. Well, if the qualities of respectful, friendly and helpful service, good plain fare cooked very well and freshly are old fashioned then so be it. I regard these values as timeless and the Kardomah as a shining example of these values in practice. Particulary impressive is the way their regular customers are treated-like old friends and new customers treated as new ones. Sevice is efficient as well. My breaded plaice was delicious and my wife swooned over her roast dinner murmuring delicious after every forkful.We visit Swansea several times a year and our visit would be incomplete without a visit here.

I haven't been in Swansea very long and have not been here before. We only popped in for coffee but it was very good coffee. Good service and very pleasant. I loved the 50s decor and think they should make more of it and it's history. The Cockett

I remember visiting kardomah cafes 65 years ago and they still retain the aura of those times. Great!

This little time capsule of a restaurant hasn't changed in decades. Traditional cooking, good sized portions and capable, friendly staff make this a Swansea tradition.

Every time I visit my hometown, I always try and pop into the Kardomah. I was a regular customer for many years and absolutely love the place. All the staff are amazing, the service is superb, the food and coffee is excellent and the 1950s decor is just fantastic. Couldn't ask for better. I was really shocked to find out that Nella who was one of the waitresses had sadly died a couple of years ago. I believe she had worked there for 25 plus years. People, including myself used to queue up and wait just to sit in the area that she served in. It's always nice to see the owner and his son Marcus too. Every time I visit, I either have the full English breakfast (best sausages in Swansea) with their famous filter coffee and free refill or I have the set luncheon which is either soup and bread roll or fruit juice and a choice of 5 or 6 dinners for which I have the roast beef and all the trimmings, then ice cream for dessert. All the veg on the dinner is freshly prepared and gorgeous. I would highly recommend this coffee shop if you're after good food, friendly service and reasonable prices. A big thank you to Marcus and his family (the owners) and all the staff for the many years of excellent service. Please pop in when you visit Swansea. You won't be disappointed .Mark..

Haven't been here in ages ...called in for breakfast Saturday morning..typical LG breakfast of 2 sausage 2 bacon 2 eggs 2blackpudding 2 hashbrown mushrooms beans and toast and a cup of machine coffee all for £9.50..yes the food quality is ok..... but when I was younger this place stood out and people would be so happy to queue to get in here . I think it's time the whole place had a revamp to bring this place back to the star attraction it once was.

Second visit this week to the famous Kardomah! The Restaurant is fuelled on heritage and class, if the Kardomah had one definition it would be "old school". The staff are amazing, polite and friendly, the breakfast is filling and fresh, and if you come before 11.30am the deal extends to refillable coffee, and trust me it's not Nescafé. In all I love this place, its oozes history and on times I feel like I'mIn the Sopranos!

Lovely coffee, wish they had mugs though as it goes cold quickly, it does work out expensive when there is two of you having two coffee' s each, the meals are a good size portion and all home made, plenty to chose from too

Old fashioned yet charming!Food: the lasagne here is my favourite, it's absolutely delicious! I've also had cooked breakfasts, the chicken chasseur and roasties, all very good. Service: never less than excellent. Staff take pride in their job and are so friendly. They're honestly some of the best staff out of all local cafes/restaurants. Location: perfectly situated in the city centre, parking near by in multi storey car park on the kingsway. Would recommend :-)

We went in for a bacon sandwich and egg/bacon sandwich, cost of each before 11.30 is £2.95, after then the price is greatly increased by almost 100%, menu does say the breakfast deals are before 11.30 but we just thought all that meant was that the tea/coffee no longer included in the deal.In short. A bill which included 2 lattes should have been about £10.50, our bill because we went in a little after 11.30 came to £15.25.Note to staff, please point out out on your menu that breakfast sandwiches are almost double in price after 11.30.As a result, no tip for the waitress and our custom will now go to other cafes in Swansea.One other thing, why put a full salad on the plate with breakfast sandwiches ?

I like chicken nuggets. I like pasta. I also like a Coke on occasion. I would like though that Doctor Who signed poster above the counter but I've moved on now.

I always go to kardomah for my coffee. best buy coffee for a good price the cafe is freely good to always busy so expect to wait

Not been here before but we were in the city to shop. They have an extensive menu and although it is a coffee shop, meals can be ordered for those wanting it. The staff were very friendly and the service swift. The food was tasty and in good quantity. Two other local coffee shops have closed so this place should benefit, it certainly deserves the business. Hope to return soon to sample more of their menu.

Have recently started going to Kardomah and I must say I love the place, whether passing by on bike rides or out around town. The staff have to be some of the friendliest and most welcoming staff around. You really feel part of the family at Kardomah.The coffees are really good and the breakfasts are amazing. (Not tried it yet but a Sunday lunch passing our table did also look amazing so will be checking that soon!)Really cant say enough about this place.......it's history, its feel, its coffee and the service should be top of your list avoiding all those other chains in the area.5 stars. Definitely my new local

Lovely old retro style interior.Very polite and efficient staff, smartly dressed.Cracking full English breakfast freshly made with fried bread and very reasonable priced.Free top up on coffee.A full menu is available during the rest of the day.Will definitely return next time we are back in Swansea.

A warm, friendly and accommodating establishment with Marcus and his amazing staff. Coffee is fresh, filtered and made to suit the individual. They have a vast menu and their food is all home cooked and baked, and delicious. I visit every time I am shopping in Swansea. Their coffee is so good, you will want to take it home as I do. They have an extensive variety and will grind the beans, again to suit the individual. A visit to the Kardomah is a must!!!!

A colleague suggested calling at the Kardomah for a quick lunch. The place has hardly changed since I was a small boy. The staff were friendly. The service excellent. The place has a welcoming, unhurried atmosphere. I had soup of the day with a bread roll. Not fine dining: but simple, delicious, good value food. I can see why people keep coming back. Highlight of my day in Swansea.

Used to come here regularly many years ago. Love how it has not changed. They still make one of the best cheesecakes in the world. Ordered chicken salad. Came with pineapple on top. I detest pineapple. Gave it to family member but could not eat it as all tasted of pineapple juice. Did tell waitress at the end. Still charged full price but my fault for not complaining.

Last time I was there was with my wife's Uncle in 1978. Still had great food and loved the coffee. The service was very good and all the staff was very friendly. Brought back some lovely memories. We had breakfast there a couple of times during our stay and hope we can return. Bought some coffee to bring home and love it. A wonderful place in Swansea to eat. Got to see the owner and his Son, nice people

This was a nostalgic trip to this cafe as I used to visit about 50 years ago! It was good to see it still there, which is a testament as to how good it is. The coffee was very good and it was too early for us to have lunch, but the cafe was very busy indeed. Lovely staff, friendly and polite.

Often call here for lunch when shopping in the city centre. Food always consistently good - I would especially recommend the roast dinners, omelettes and lasagne. Great coffee too. Service always very efficient and friendly. Highly recommended.

Always have lunch here with my daughter. Every time we are always welcomed with a smile and such friendly staff. Superb all round. Delicious food and wonderful coffee. Well recommended to all!

Called in for lunch after a show at the Grand Theatre, it was busy, as usual but we were shown to a table very quickly, waitress was very polite and cheerful, we ordered drinks and food and within a few minutes, out they came, absolutely gorgeous, I had the set meal of liver, onions and veg with onion sauce, it was superb and plenty of it, missus had a gorgeous panani which came with either chips or crisps and salad. Beautiful home cooked and freshly prepared.

have visited twice this week (haven't been in previously for years). Super 1950s time warp, super lunch (Chili Con Carni) friendly service and top quality coffee. Purchased some Slade coffee to take home am very pleased with it, nice and strong

Really my apologies to the owners and staff of this great restaurant and coffee house in the centre of Swansea for not visiting for such a long time. My wife and I called in on Feb 1st at lunchtime, and were thoroughly delighted in the service of a professional friendly waiting staff. The food was superb, the menu choice was really varied with so many dishes to choose. The coffee was perfect, and we had a refill, free of charge, as it should be in all UK restaurants. Well done The Kardomah Restaurant, we will return.

This was my first visit to the Swansea Kardomah , but today we decided to have lunch there . As soon as we entered we were made welcome and almost made to feel like old friends . The atmosphere was friendly and before very long we were trying to decide what we wanted to eat.( Not easy, because their menu is quite extensive ). Once we had given our order we didn't have to wait long before we were served . It was interesting to see that they had plenty of waitresses on duty and they all were well trained and pleasant . We were delighted with our visit and meal .We will certainly return again. Well done everyone involved.

Stopped in for breakfast on recommendation of friends who ate here the day before. Service was excellent and the food was served promptly and was very tasty. Good value for money. Would recommend to others.

If you want a great coffee and delicious cakes visit the Kardomah the staff are always friendly and helpful especially with families you will not be disappointed.

I have been going to the Kardomah for many years now and it is always the same great food and coffee. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the service is very good indeed. This place is a stalwart of Swansea and we just keep on going back as it is reliable and good value. We have had the steak many times and there has never been any problem with it at all unlike other places in Swansea. Coffee is always great, and they always give you a pot of hot water with the tea, spot on!

My family have been regular customers at the Kardomah for many years and have always found the standard of both the food and service to be very high.The food is consistently good, the coffee is great and the management and staff always very friendly and helpful.I was dismayed, therefore, to read the review posted on the 21st Dec regarding "dry, inedible steak" and even further surprised at the comments about rude and unhelpful staff.It appears to me that this person was simply trying, by complaining, to get money taken off the bill. It is disappointing that such establishments find themselves open to this sort of criticism whilst having no way of defending themselves.I would encourage anyone thinking of visiting this restaurant to take these negative comments with "a pinch of salt". I would highly recommend the Kardomah to anyone who is looking for good quality food, friendly, efficient service and excellent coffee!

Ordered a steak, when I received it, it was dry and close to inedible. Complained to the rude waitress who said she would tell the manager. She returned with our bill and said nothing. When I got to the till, I mentioned the steak to the very rude manger who insisted there was nothing wrong with it and the waitress had checked on us during our meal which she had not. No apology offered or deduction of the bill. What a shame as this was once very pleasant place to eat. Working in a restaurant myself I would never dream of treating a customer the way I have been treated today. Will not be returning and I advise everyone to avoid!!!!

The standard of service here is excellent. The watresses are so attentive. The breakfast menu is full of choice. The restaurant is situated on a corner off the main street. It seats over 100 people and is very popular.
