Kanzzi Sushi & Grill in Epsom and Ewell

Sushi and Rolls was fresh, and made to order (you can tell). The Katsu chicken was larger than most. The Korean rices were good but small for the price. Otherwise overall, decent food!

I’m pretty sure that this restaurant is one of the best quality with this price range in the UK. Really fresh Sashimi and harmony of ingredients of other dishes were really well balanced. It is really good Japanese cuisine and some surprisingly sneaked in Korean touch fusions of some dishes were amazing. Brilliant staffs and service with really well maintained amenities are big plus. Definitely recommended and I will go again.

Consistently amazing. As a family we visit once a month and every time we are blown away by the food. There really is no reason to go to Wagamama when this gem is situated so close. Never disappoints.

I tried a few of the signature rolls, and they were nothing short of incredible. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and every bite was a delight. You can really tell the chefs are passionate about what they do. The service was another highlight. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, offering great recommendations without being pushy. It really felt like they wanted to ensure I had a memorable dining experience, and they succeeded. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick lunch or a leisurely meal, I can’t recommend Kanzii Sushi & Grill enough. The attention to detail and the quality of the food make it a must-visit. Good Quality Food in a welcoming atmosphere. Stumbled across Kanzzi on our way home and looking for spicy ramen - was not disappointed! Kids had Katsu Chicken curry (as always) and were suitably impressed! Really reasonable prices and Tuesday was Ramen night so got a free drink - bonus! Staff were super friendly and my wife was particularly impressed with the cleanliness of the toilets!

I visited as Mums night out and had a great time. Food was amazing especially Seared Sushi was really good. Restaurant was not too busy on Saturday night and food was served very fast.

This is the best Japanese restaurant ever!!!! The moment you step in it’s like you are in Japan with pictures hung on walls and Japanese music. The staff are friendly and are on it with food orders and clearing plates. The food is amazing and so professionally prepared. This place is very good for a jap restaurant in Epsom. Takoyaki and tempura has been better than almost all of the places we've been to in Japan and rest of Asia. Sad to see wagamama take some of the crowd away from them.

Very cosy Japanese restaurant, we ordered a platter and it was enough for 3 people but we did order prawn tempura and it was a good we did as this was the best prawn tempura I’ve ever had, it was light, delicate but filled with flavour. The platter had a sushi roll, delicious salmon, beef rib and some lovely tuna tacos. Absolutely divine, the only thing missing was a better choice of drinks and cocktails. On a summer evening it would have been nice to have a tall cocktail but you are not short of places to go in local area for that!

Took my grandson here for a treat, as I dont see much off him now he's at university. The food was excellent very fresh and very good potions. Service was very good and fast, waitress were very friendly. Will definitely recommend and come back for another meal.

The food is amazing, my husband and our two sons love it here. Don't miss the Tuna Tacos and Dragon roll, but try everything else.

My favourite restaurant in Epsom. It’s independent and the kids love it, so we keep going back. The food is very, very good. The spicy edamame and a chilled Asahi, off the stick, to start things off is perfection. They have a small, but well balanced, wine list. Current Favs: Aubergine with miso paste, Sashimi (all of it), tuna tacos, tempura prawns, chicken gyoza, salmon tataki… kids love the vegetarian /avocado rolls. Service was excellent. We met the chef and the lady manager who were lovely. Attentive floor staff too. My only recommendation… the dining room decor is a little tired and could do with some freshening up to improve the atmosphere. Please support independent (non chain) restaurants in the area!

Overall Experience was great, food was good and staff were friendly, but adding the service charge is unacceptable for me, I would have left the tip anyway, but with the amount i want, otherwise restaurant is putting customers to uncomfortable situation, which no one want to be in a full restaurant. Thank you, hope you understand and at least ask it when taking the payment.

I can't Fault the food as it was high quality, but was a very rushed service from the moment we sat down to leaving within 30 mins 2 course. Before we even finished our starters the mains was pushed on to the table, it seemed like they were rushing for the next service. It wasn't hugely busy so I can't understand the speed. Shame

This place is literally a hidden gem! 💎✨ This place has such a cozy and warm atmosphere, and the waitresses are so friendly and welcoming, the food is top tier, always fresh and very consistent! Highly recommend for anyone that is looking for a calm and quiet place where they can enjoy some amazing food and incredible service. Every time we ordered, we have always been impressed by the presentation of the food, the freshness and the quality of the ingredients. I must say, Kanzii has a special place in my heart. Credits to the awesome chefs for being so amazing at what they do! 👏

Saw it was a Japanese restaurant and thought I’d give it a try for lunch. Had the bento box and it was excellent. Would definitely recommend and maybe try for a more extensive meal in the evening.

After moving to the UK, I was looking for a good Japanese resultant. However, it appears that there isn't much Japanese or Korean food accessible here. There are a handful in London; however, they are quite expensive and do not even offer Teppanyaki, so they are not worth the money. We stumbled onto this one by chance, and it serves excellent Japanese cuisine. Their miso soup tastes exactly like real miso soup. They genuinely offer other Japanese items, but they do not sell noodles and fried rice as Japanese food. Their behavior differs from that of previous eateries we've visited. Very pleasant and kind. It definitely merits a 5-star rating.

It was an accident trip, initially tried to get a table at Nando’s. But I’m so happy we didn’t, this is a hidden gem and I will recommend this place to anyone wanting food in Epsom. The waitress was so lovely and helped with any questions. And the food was tasty and there was plenty of it. 100% coming back

Best sushi and hot food I ever had in London. The grill chicken is amazing taste. Well grill juicy chicken served with rice and Sashimi is the best ever.

First time at this restaurant, a casual dining experience which suited us as we had little ones with us. We didn't know how long it would take for us to arrive at the restaurant and we arrived slightly early..about 5 minutes before they actually opened but we were still greeted warmly. We were sat down quickly and given menus. Foodwise, we ordered 2 seaweed salads (my favourite!), 2 yakitori, 2 grilled chicken ramen, an agadashi tofu, a torikaraage, a okonomiyaki, a black cod miso yaki, a prawn tempura roll, a bowl of rice, a salmon set, a chocolate crepe and a vanilla mochi. All very well executed and delicious. The chicken was grilled to perfection. The black cod was lovely and light and flakey, again perfectly cooked. I am not entirely sure as never asked but I believe the chef and some of the staff are Koreans? ..Not that it matters as the cuisine they produced was better than a lot of Japanese restaurants we have eaten in (which incidentally are usually owned by koreans, nepalese or chinese...it is actually very rare to get Japanese owned japanese restaurants anywhere outside of the big cities in this country). Service was efficient and friendly. If I was to be picky then I would say the restaurant has a lovely ambience, nicely spaced tables and seems mostly clean. The tables, we were on however, were quite sticky feeling. I know some cleaning products do leave a residue (I am hoping this was the case today anyway!) ... but a suggestion may be to change the cleaning product as there are many antibacterial cleaners nowadays which do not leave the table feeling tacky to touch (some people may be put off by this). Overall, we left very satisfied and with a doggy bag (as always, we over ordered!). The bill came just under £180 for 2 adults and 3 children under 10.

I went here with a mate one Saturday evening. We didn't book, but luckily there were a few tables free and we were seated immediately. I decided to have a starter and chose the Torikaraage boneless chicken pieces (£6). This starter was perfect...the light, crunchy batter wasn't oily at all, it was lovely and crisp! The chicken inside was tender and moist, and the siracha mayo for dipping was perfect! I could have eaten another round of the dish! ;) For my main, I chose the Tonkoshu Misu Ramen (£13.5) as I was craving a broth dish. The broth was on point, and the bowl was full to the brim...as It should be! The egg noodles were al dente, and the pork belly slices were melt in your mouth! I can't fault this dish, and I munched and slurped my way through the lot! ;) The service was also very good...the young blond lad was friendly and polite and tended to our table in a professional manner. So, if you fancy a decent Japanese meal and you're in the area, then definitely give this place a go! Easy 5 stars.

Omg the food here is delicious! The staff are really friendly and we felt very welcome. I've never tried sushi before so can't compare it to anything but I liked the tuna. The best dish though was this amazing beef bulgogi on the lunch menu. It was amazing value and one of the tastiest things I've eaten in so long can't recommend enough!!

Surrey’s gem - one of my favourite sushi restaurants I’ve ever been to and definitely the best restaurant in Epsom The food is amazing every time - I’ve been here around 20 times and tried most of the things in the menu and can say that nothing has ever disappointed me The best menu positions imo are: - tempura prawn - roasted aubergine - tuna tacos - sashimi boat - any of the special oven rolls - wagyu sushi The prices are very comfortable, and your food is prepped really quickly. Lovely food, lovely waitress. Plenty of dishes for those who think Japanese food is just sushi. Tasty and beautifully presented. The yellowtail carpaccio was a highlight. Puddings interesting and not run-of-the-mill mass produced (I think they are made locally). Can't wait to go back. Also really want to try the Bento Boxes

The new menu, a hot stone bibimbap was superb 👌 and a baked aubergine as well. Whenever, I visit there, never fail. Strongly recommend to everyone 👍 👏 👌

Without question, some of the best Japanese cuisine I have tried over 3 decades. Those who know of Taka-san and his legacy will be pleased to know that Jason and his crew are keeping the torch alight. Marvellous food, a great service and ambience. Epsom is spoilt.

Absolutely delish! And fresh! I ordered a salmon teriyaki bento and it was excellent. The gyoza was crispy yet soft! I’ll definitely come again.

Walked in, we were politely greeted and sat at a table. We then waited over 5 minutes, without drink orders being taken. We were then ready to give food orders but ignored and unable to catch other servers eyes. So we walked out.

The food was pretty good in general hence 3 stars. But the whole place needs a proper clean. The tables were sticky and you just didn't want to put anything down... and the floor was absolutely filthy, my flip flop got so stuck it came off when I tried to take a step! The server said "oh that's from the mopping" ... but if the cleaning product is leaving a sticky residue everywhere what's it for?! (and it's not just that as there's grime and detritus around the edges... it needs a deep clean)... the chairs were new and clean though so no issues there. The staff were very polite and attentive and accommodated us without a booking during a busy lunch hour. The beer on tap tasted fresh, glass a little dirty.

Very disappointed with this restaurant, we have been here before around 5 times and always order the same thing, we ordered our food the waitress was what we would call pass aggressive, she got our order wrong we ordered crispy prawn tempura starter and she brought out crispy prawn roll and was adamant we said that which we didn’t and told the chef who then come to talk to us and said we must say it right Which we did, this is very embarrassing and was something easily fixed as customers who have been here before and previously left 5 star reviews we are very disappointed . We really enjoyed this one restaurant but will not be back !

Food was tasty with good presentation, with a good mixture of choices between Korean style grilled dishes and Japanese sushi and noodle dishes. All with generous portions at a reasonable price.

We had some sushi, grilled short ribs and a ramen. The broth of the ramen was really good, but they forgot put the pork belly in to the ramen. Also, the barbecue short ribs were overcooked and burnt. I would expect better quality for the price.

We had one of best Japanese foods and all staffs are friendly. I had soy ramen & Aburi salmon and they are very good.

I couldn’t fault our meal. Having travelled in Japan and eaten in many Japanese restaurants over here, I can be quite picky but the quality here was excellent. Every dish we had looked beautiful and tasted even better. Highlights were the seared belly salmon sashimi and special spider crab roll. Prices were as expected for Japanese food and service was friendly and efficient. Can’t wait to return and try more of the menu.

8 of us went to celebrate my birthday on a Tuesday night. It was quiet with only another 6 diners. Food was fantastic. Great choice of hot and cold and plenty for vegetarians and also vegan options. Some of the party had never been to a Japanese restaurant before and said how much they enjoyed it. Service also excellent and food arrived I batches as we kept ordering more dishes. When I have walked past it never looks busy which is a pity. I just hope it is successful as it is in our view the best quality food in Epsom.

We have been to Kanzzi a few times now since it opened, both for lunch and dinner. The food is absolutely delicious and really fresh. Our kids love the bento boxes at lunchtime and it's also great for a couples' date night or with friends. The Riesling is brilliant and very reasonable. Must try dish = tuna tacos. Enjoy!

We were walking past Kanzzi to the station and as we hadn’t eaten decided to try something different. This was our my time at a Japanese restaurant and boy were we pleased to have stopped. We asked the waitress so many questions and she gave us recommendations. The food was so tasty. We had lots of starters and things to share. The highlight was the Dragon Roll. Lovely evening with friendly staff and a good atmosphere. We will be back.

We had a bad experience here we have been here more than three times and each time we faced the same problem. The girl who serve us she is racist she doesn't come to our table but when other guests come she welcome them and take their order herself. I noticed we asked for to pack one dish for takeaway she just gave us the takeaway box but for other guests she packed their food herself and properly put in the bag whereas with us we had to ask for a bag separately which she gave us after few minutes. also when we asked is the service charge optional she said yes but when we said can we not pay then, she went and made the chef to come and see us the chef was forcing us to pay the service charge infact he himself said its optional but still was forcing us. VERY disappointing service i must say think before you visit also the sushi prices are overly high and not worth to pay for.

Really top draw food - sushi and sashimi was wonderful and the poussin delicious, had mochi and roll cake for dessert which were also surprisingly good. Food as good or better than equivalent restaurants in central London. Service was OK, not what you might expect given the prices but staff were friendly enough - just could have been more attentive on drinks and running us through the menu. £123 for dinner for two. Thouroughly recommend!

We have been here twice for food and both times we have had the Epsom Square platter for 2 and its been incredible every time. The food is so delicious, the facilities are really clean and the staff are very friendly. Would highly recommend this place and will be back again soon for some tasty dins.

I recently went to this restaurant and was absolutely shocked at how they treat their employees, the young girl who worked their was very polite and efficient with the service provided although the management was very cruel and unprofessional as I over heard the way management had spoken to her and was very disappointed as I felt for her I really did. The young lady had got her things and had left looking very unhappy, I felt as though I should write this review as it has been playing on my mind and felt a need to address this.

My boyfriend wanted to surprise me and take me out for dinner for date night. The restaurant looked lovely from outside. When we first arrived, we were not greated, no friendly welcome. We were asked straight away if we had a reservation which we responded, we did not. (The restaurant was empty) then she was gone, without a word. Came back and told us to follow her. I was super excited as the menu looked promising despite the not so welcome we received. One of the student waiters took our order, most of what we wanted was either not available or not the "season" as he put it. Secondly half way through our meal, another student waiter, this time a girl, without a word, removed everything from the table, plates, chopsticks and glasses. We looked at each other confused. She then walked away again without a word. We just stared in confusion. After this the person that initially sat us down brought back new plates and chopsticks and tissues and glasses, and not so much as a sorry, NOTHING. Again we were very confused and shocked. My partner at this point was annoyed as our date night had been completely spoiled and to make thing worse we didn't even get half of what we ordered as the first student waiter didn't write everything down and didn't think to let us know. Again my partner had to ask, "Where is the rest of the food?" Which he responded "It's not coming" Honestly we could not wait to leave this place. NO sorry, no nothing and to make matters worse the manager who was just walking around did not have the decency to come and apologize or speak to us to explain, nothing. Honestly never in my life have we experienced this kind of service and in all honestly even Nandos or McDonalds have friendlier stuff and better service. Absolutely awful!!

We visited on a Friday evening, having booked a table. It was very busy, which was nice to see. Gyoza and tempura starters were delicious. We had chicken ramen, chicken Katsu curry and teriyaki chicken don. All were very fresh and tasty. Only complaint was a couple of bits of chewy meat/bone in the chicken. The staff were all very friendly and made every effort to look after everyone. It did take a while to pay due to how busy it was. Definitely recommend overall.

Food is fantastic, atmosphere is very welcoming, the service was sublime. Highly recommend the sushi rolls, the katsu and the BBQ short rib. Very welcoming and cosy restaurant, very polite and helpful staff and very reasonable price. If you like sushi then eat here! Highly recommend, definitely going back soon to sample the ramen!

Amazing food, lovely, leisurely service. We didn't feel rushed or neglected. The short rib was fabulous (someone commented it had a bone in each bit, it's a rib so it does) they offered me a knife and fork, so I didn't need to use fingers. Katsu curry was a treat and the sushi was top class. My partner had a fabulous birthday, so thank you. Loved it and will be back.

We visited on a quiet Monday night and had a truly fantastic meal. I've eaten at expensive restaurants similar to this in London and Kanzzi is on the same level. A brilliant menu packed with temptation. The black cod was superb and the sushi is outstanding. Everything was on point and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. This is going to become a regular night out for us.

The noodles are delicious, and the price wasn’t very expensive

Very disappointed in the service here, we asked for water and was not given any despite the fact it was not busy at the time. Staff did not smile once and said as little as they could, especially when it came to paying for the meal, the waitress didn’t even ask if we wanted to split the bill and just presented to card reader to us, once again no words said. The food was good hence the 2 stars however the service unfortunately really reduces the standard.

The tuna tacos and california rolls are some of the nicest I've ever had. Will definitely be back soon!

Perfect meal perfect service! First time trying and it was amazing! I did ask the chef to cook 3 courses and they definitely delivered! My go to on a night out!

Underwhelming experience. I would class this as a cafe rather than a restaurant. Firstly the drinks menu had beer & wine, but no G&T options or any other spirits. We chose a bottle of wine & it was dumped on the table for us to remove the cap & pour. Menus were dropped onto our table without any explanation that there was a specials board option. We only discovered this on the wall after we had ordered. We ordered 2 small plates & 2 mains, but the mains arrived first. The chicken Katsu was very bland & resembled an escalope covered in chip shop curry sauce. The beef rib was fatty & had a small piece of bone in each slice. Sadly, it couldn’t be eaten using the chopsticks provided, so had to revert to fingers. Our empty plates sat on the table for 20 minutes while we finished the bottle of wine. 12.5% service charge was automatically added to the bill, which I wouldn’t normally complain about, however, the food was extremely disappointing & service nonexistent.
