Kansas Fried Chicken - Burnage in Manchester

Came from bham to try this place. Went at 11:30am (shop opens at 11). Tables was all dirty from yesterday service and did not bother cleaning since yesterday. That should’ve been the first and only sign not to eat from here. Since they just opened up the chicken was in the fryer so had to wait 10 mins for it to be ready which was fair enough. At least it would’ve been fresh. Order a double spicy chicken sandwich meal. Fries was okay. Standard cheap fries. The chicken sandwich was so disgusting. The batter fell off this chicken due to amount of sauce they put on there. Sauce was disgusting. I had 1 bite and threw it in the bin. The only decent item was the Pepsi max. First and last time going to this place.

I love the food here.. Shop could do with being redecorated. Paintwork, walls and tiles are very old now... but I love the food so this is my favourite fried chicken shop.

very dead ordered 3 burgers gave me 2. additionaly they said 7 miniures then 10 then 15 and kept asdingtime, eventually took 1 hour for 3 burgers

I thought I'd try the spicy chicken burger after many years. There was a time when Kansas was the only and the best chicken burger place in Mcr. Going back was a very bad mistake. It was the worst chicken burger I've ever seen or had. The chicken was stale, dry and rock-hard. I actually took the food back into the shop, took the chicken out of the bun and knocked it against the counter a few times, and it made a knocking sound. All I got from the guy behind the counter was "sorry I don't know how old the chicken is or when it was made" after seeing and being told how bad the food was. And there was no offer of replacement or refund. Now I'm sat in my car paying price of my mistake with a terrible stomach ache. My advice is stay well away from this disgusting place.

Customer service is poor and guys r rude. Chicken is nice but burger is somerimes old. It is worth trying but they need to improve their attitude. They r big headed and rude this seems to be the biggest problem.

Change opening times on website so your actually open when you say you are!

How do you get away with not covering the chicken with flour? I got fried chicken burger. Spicy sauce was amazing. The burger wasn't cooked evenly. There was a part that was really chunky had no covering of flour or bread crumbs. It was like plain chicken breast in a bun. Why would you not cover the chicken properly with flour!!

Hard and dry chicken burgers that have been out on display for while. This place used to be decent many years ago, it’s gone downhill since. To add insult to injury most the staff are very rude & lack customer service skills !

Unfortunately the quality of food has gone downhill. I won't be using this place again. They need to step up their game it's not like the 90s when they had no competition in the halal fried chicken market. Now there are halal fried chicken shops everywhere. Bought a few meals for the family and everyone complained and did not finish the meals. As for making the burger spicy then that sauce was appalling. Best to avoid Kansas fried chicken until it catches up with the 21st century.

Had a very good experience ordering from here this evening. Hadn't been here in 3/4 years as I felt they'd fell off a bit - usually go to Miamis/Shake Bee but tried here after a while due to the queues. Got a spicy burger meal with wings which was delicious, made exactly like the good old days. Looks like they've got new managers/owners - I will definitely start coming here again.

As a regular customer I cannot believe this place anymore. Went to this Kansas on Kingsway. Ordered burgers and 3 wings. Burger was okay. However these 3 wings were not in a decent state at all. They had been cooked more than 2 times for sure. They were hard and could not be eaten. Absolutely can’t believe they would keep wings like this to sell to the customers. I will be taking this further with the food agency as this is not acceptable at all. Next time I will check my wings at the takeaway and throw them in the man’s face.

It's running by Hindu's which means no guarantee if it's halal. If you only eat halal food my suggestion stay away from this place!

Ordered on just eat it arrived on pushbike all over the bag and one item wrong, i took it back to shop and the full order was replaced and we were given free drinks too, credit where credits due

Best chicken shop in Manchester

I hadn't been to Kansas for a while after a good few years of sub-standard food put me off. I went a couple of days ago after a recommendation from a friend, and I have to say it was every bit as good as it used to be. Everything was fresh (which hasn't been the case for a few years) and the portion sizes were excellent. When they make their burgers, ribs and chicken like this, they are the best in Manchester. Consistency is the key, keep it up and I'm sure they'll be as popular as they once were. Update I went again recently and it was a disappointment. The burgers were dry as were the buns. The owners need to get rid of some of the workers as they are the ones giving Kansas a bad name.

Hit and miss! At times the chicken burger here tastes great, unfortunately this time it was another dry and unchewable one again!

Well just to sum it up in one word “terrible”. The bread was crumbling in my hands. The chicken was too hard to eat and far too big for the burger. Was just absolutely horrible. And let’s not get started with the customer service!

A freshly made double Kansas burger (with steam still coming out of chicken patty) dipped in hot sauce is truly a delight.

Appalling service waited 15 minutes for two burger meals with cheese, There was only two customers in the shop. The elderly African male with glasses must not care about customer service, He even forgot to put the cheese on both burger's. All the chicken filets were already cooked and in the display cabinet so no excuses. “Dry chips and a dry burger x 2” I only live 60 seconds away I drove home I could not believe he had the bottle to give us dry chips dry burgers. I felt like going back and throwing it back at him. But I’m past arguing with idiots. It may have got out of hand knowing what I’m capable of. I will never again go to Kansas Burnage. Il stick to Miami’s that is worth the 15 minutes wait and always on point.

An establishment that I've known all my life. When that spicy chicken burger is on point, there is no place I'd rather be. Even though these are rough days riddled with fierce competition and hygiene controversies, I am always ride or die for kansas fry.

Came for the first time since it reopened since lockdown, the food was absolutely disgusting. Everything tasted reheated. The burger was so over cooked I couldn't eat it. Won't visit again in a hurry

Burgers are great but they refuse to make fresh chips and give you the ones that have been there for hours. Also had a run in with one of the main members years ago, when I asked for 1 burger to be plain, he looked at me and said "Typical Asian brother" with a smug look on his face. Lucky for me and the other customers in the area, he no longer works there.

Visited shortly after the re-opening. Went just before iftar time so likely the food was all fresh with the higher demand. Spicy chicken burger with extra mayo and cheese was delicious and fresh, not too spicy. Wings are a bit pricey but are large compared to other chicken places. I think they've gotten new chips which is good because these were really tasty and well-seasoned, the old ones were quite rubbish. Also recommend the amazing gravy, tastes just like KFC! Overall would really recommend, burger can get quite messy though!

Had chicken burger meal last year when I was pregnant and been throwing out all night I thought it could be because I am pregnant and had it last night again, got food poisoning now, whatever I have been eating drinking I end up throwing out straight away. Depends which one you go to. Kingsway has best hot sauce, burgers are decent. Handforth burgers are ok and sauce isnt nice, its sweet n not very spicy, gravey is worst. Note. How you get served and quality of food depends what time you go there and who serves you.

Re-fried Chips. A let down. Chilli sauce is just water.
