Great food and service, even when busy which it often is!

I've been having take away food from Kans for many years and have found it of the highest standard. However recently the quality of the food has changed for the worse. Also I'm concerned that Monosodium glutamate is now being use in some meal without informing customers.

This place is 2nd to none.Probably the best Chinese takeaway in Lancashire.Sweet and sour chicken,egg fried rice and salt and pepper chips-it’s incredible👏

Probably the worst hot n sour soup I have ever tasted. Seriously BAD, if you are opening a restaurant in ramsbottom you need to up your game 10000000%. Your food has never been good

Gets 4 stars from me, good food at good prices but the lack of a card machine is frustrating. I recommend the salt and pepper prawns!

Ordered the following ; Egg fried rice, Salt and pepper chips, Salt and pepper chicken, Spring rolls. Spring rolls and chips were good. Salt and pepper chicken tastes chalky and they forgot the rice. I eat from here two times a month on average - this and the last were not great at all. Cost me £18.

Kans is the best Chinese takeaway around

I have used the takeaway several times in the past however on this occasion I wasn’t very impressed. I placed my order and handed over the money. They admitted they got the order wrong and then charged me extra for their mistake. Not impressed!

Very cheap, but I can see why! Nothing had any flavour, from the rice to the noodles, even the prawn crackers had no taste! My Husbands pork was worryingly brown toward the edges (like it was old!) The chips were very dry and tiny, tiny ends of potatoes! They don't accept cards, which I find both bizarre and concerning in 2023! 2 stars because the staff seemed nice and portions were generous.

We've been ordering from here for 35 years and the food has always been amazing, never had a bad meal. It's our 'go to' place for Chinese food and regular chippy food. The best Singapore fried rice and Chicken satay. Chips are amazing as is everything else. Service is quick and friendly. Cash only, but for great food, who cares. Love this place.

Best salt and pepper chips ever, hands down. I have never tasted any as good as Kans and I've been to every Chinese around. Only issue is they only take cash and don't deliver. They need to modernise or risk lagging behind due to their refusal to adapt and utilise technology

Frozen spring rolls. Almost broke my teeth. Returned for a replacement, took 15 minutes while things went cold. No apology, no nothing. Just anger at me. Avoid avoid avoid

Salt & pepper ribs, chips & jumbo sausage. Quite a simple order for an evening snack...The chips were soggy, definitely not fresh. The ribs were just ribs, hardly any meat on them at all which was unacceptable at £6.30 for 7 ribs. They lacked flavour & spice. The sausage was OK though...The server was belligerent. I noticed that I was charged 10p more than the menu prices and questioned it. She told me it was for a bag. I told her I didn't want or ask for a bag, she refunded my 10p by throwing it on the counter. I said this last time but I definitely will never this place again.

Just needed two portions of cod and large chips. Fish cooked fresh and chips were nice and hot. Good portion size. Would happily recommend

Ordered fish & chips for myself and chips & curry sauce for my partner. I must admit I've not been to Kans for a while. Firstly I was surprised it was cash only. A rarity these days and a pain that you then have to find a cash point that actually works. The quality of the fish was particularly poor. The batter was soggy, the fish tasteless. Chips, though plenty of them were also soggy. My partners curry sauce had a nostalgic 1970s taste and aroma. Not a period of food culinary I want to revist. We won't be back

This is definitely my current favourite Chinese take-away. They don't deliver, so we have only used them during our Dry January, but they are definitely worth missing a Saturday afternoon pint for. (The salt and pepper chips are a thing of beauty.)

Honestly this is one of those places you can’t help go back. Portion sizes huge and their salt and pepper chips are the best in the game! Can’t recommend enough!

after trying to find a Chinese open I found kans in Ramsbottom. I will be going there every week now the food is lovely we have tried salt and pepper chips, salt and peeper chicken wings, salt and pepper king prawns, special fried rice, curry, and beef in black bean all the meals were excellent one of the best quality takeaways

We go to Kans all the time for takeaway food. Today they were busy, forgot our order and then refused to speak to me when I asked where/when it would be ready. I walked out after the woman ignored me and picked up the phone instead of answering my question as to the order. Absolutely disgusted. My husband usually collects the takeaway and called them to see if it was ready to collect and the woman answered saying yes and that she remembers me asking but she answered the phone? When my husband collected the order she laughed in his face when he said we always order from them and couldn’t understand this behaviour. She laughed and went into the back room whilst giving our order to a man who clearly couldn’t speak any English so we were left to pay the full bill without any discount for cold food. Really rotten, especially after a bad day.

The food is always amazing and a very good value for the size of the portions and the girl behind the till is quite young but is always friendly and is never rude. It is good if you.do not want to wait long as I went with my grandparents and brother(4 people)and it took about 20 mins to get our food. Absolutely brilliant!

We fancied a takeaway. With the car out of action and our usual takeaway 6 miles away we decided on Kans. Inside the place is exactly how i remember 1980s Chinese takeaways. The staff are pleasant enough and efficient enough. The food arrived in good time. The dishes were very saucey and the meat and veg a little scant compared to what we're used to, but i suppose that depends on what you like. The rice was a bit dry but the chips were proper chips. We will still use our usuall chineese Takeaway but would consider KANS again if need be.

Every other Friday night (usually quite late) I drop by Kan's for a cheeky Chinese take away. I ring in en route and order 10 mins away from Kan's. Always good food, always a nice chat from the staff and always large portions. Often enough for a light lunch the next day. Give Kan's a go!

Rang up to go and collect as deliver not available which would be nice but not the end of the world. Small wait for food but plenty in and met with a smile. Food tasted great, was hot. Will be back. Thank you Kans

These guys work hard and long hours. This takeaway is open when others have closed, they take telephone orders and are friendly people especially Kim. Curries are good and they make great chips. Portions are quite large as well.

we are rammy locals and go here for chips once every few weeks and they are delicious however we decided to try out their chinese food last week. We got three portions of sweet and sour chicken and it was dreadful. The sauce and chicken were first of all served separately. The sauce tasted off , luke warm and not like sweet and sour sauce should taste. Secondly the chicken was very dough like , not quite fried enough and did not taste like chicken

Not exactly the most attractive take away in the area. But the food is excellent and the service is very good. Always busy and that's no surprise as they have the best value for money chinese food I have come across. Parking isn't easy, but it's worth the effort. Top of my list whenever I want a Chinese.

This is our go to place when we simply cannot be bothered to cook. Whether it be for chinese or good old fashioned chips. Service is always nice and friendly and the food is almost always good!

I have been getting takeaways from Kans for the past 25 years . The food isn't restaurant standard but its the best chines takeaway in the area, i struggle to find a Chinese like it wherever I go and stay. The staff however are pretty rude especially the one I encountered on the phone on Saturday. I don't think I have ever seen any of them crack a smile in the two decades I have been eating there.I've probably been eating there longer than she has been alive and don't like being spoken to like i'm an idiot especially by a teenager just for asking how much it was so I could get the cash out as they don't take card which is bizarre in the modern times. Manners cost nothing

I have never experienced such a poor take away. They cook on a conventional cooker. 95% is frozen. It's the worst experience I've had. People who say this is good do not know food.

This is by far my favourite takeaway in ramsbottom. Always friendly and helpful. Chinese/ Cantonese food - English fish and chips. Usually busy so would recommend calling first before calling in.

Humo así porque tuve un blanco en ma congelador magnum para ma postre, pero eso ya porque obviamente con hambre. Creo que estoy empezando a alucinar un poco así ahora porque es sofá startin ma parece un rollo de primavera. Sólo quiero curry salsa blanca fluyendo a través de las venas, es que ma pedir demasiado? Great chips, tasty Chinese dishes. Big portions. I lover the chicken satay (with rice AND chips of course). Seems to be open all the time. Generally quick service despite the queues.

If you like chinese food, this is the place. Large portions and delicious food at good value prices.

Nice food and that's why I return at least a couple of times a month. Usually fast service and not had a bad meal from here yet. Open until 11pm at weekends. Family business fits in well in the town.

We go often when we want a good range of Chinese dishes, to choose from, with nice starters for the kids. Everyone always eats till they cant move

Always have the salt and pepper chips and crispy duck on the bone which usually is very good. Not tried anything else though but can see the portions are massive

When we were setting up the shop we visited this place for a quick take out to eat on the job. The worst Fish & Chip I have ever eaten ( or tried to eat) . The fish was still raw and uncooked in the middle and the chips were a soggy mess. We managed a few chips and threw the rest in the bin. Never again.

Kans chippy is lovely,it's only open evenings and they don't deliver sadly but their menu is very good and is very resonably priced.

As newcomers to Ramsbottom, Kans has been highly recommended to us by many of the gents in our local boozer. The women behind the counter don't say a lot but boy do they work hard! The sweat is dripping off them! A good selection on the menu. Not the best salt and pepper chips I've ever had but good none the less. Vegetable spring rolls are delicious and my fiancé can't resist the shredded crispy beef. Portions are very generous, which is good when you eat as much as we do.

I have also visited Kans irregularly for some 30 yrs.Fish and Chips are a level playing field but Chinese meals always vary slightly depending on the Chefs view of the dish and the make up of its contents.Today the order was one Chicken FooYung [a chinese type of omelette] and one Chicken ChopSuey.The first dish was just a mass of chicken pieces which had never seen an egg and the second dish was identical in a weak tomato sauce and very little else.Perfectly edible but neither dish was what it said on the tin!A bad day for the chef who badly needs some re-training or some Chinese cookery lessons as both dishes on previous occasions were correctly prepared.Will stick to the English chippy on Bolton Road West for the forseeable future .

Another great meal tonight from Kans. Special Fried Rice & salt and pepper chicken wings. Great taste and quality, and the containers are packed to the brim giving great value for money. One of the best take away options in Ramsbottom

I have visited Kans for the last 30 years. The standard of food is variable. I have been served with raw fish and cold chips. They insist on giving me an extra large portion of chips , although it is over facing. I tell them I will pay their price for a portion, but they insist on shovelling too many chips and tutting.Years ago it was the best Chinese take away around.

Everyone has their favourite takeaway and having sampled Kans this is now mine! Delicious food, great choice and always ready in 15mins. Very quickly working my way through the menu and every dish has been delightful.

Love Kans chippy, it is always open and great quick service. Been coming many years & never had a bad meal. Chinese meals are reasonable & tasty. All in all a great takeaway

First off, why is Kans even on here?! Its a chippy/Chinese takeaway, not a restaurant. In short, it shouldn't even be on Tripadvisor but since it is, and since I'm a relative regular, why not add my 2p's worth to the mix.Ill keep it uncharacteristically short, but the two ladies who tend to serve are sometimes lovely and cheery, usually when theres no other customers, and sometimes they are pretty miserable it has to be said. Granted, a fair slab of their customers will be drunken idiots as I know from my own time working in a takeaway as a young lad, but still. As far as the food does, well, its bang on really. Nice chips which are usually fresh due to the place being busy. The chippy side of things is generally top notch, with a good range of Hollands pies. Chinese food wise, its the same story really. Good value, well cooked, and pretty on point really. The salt and pepper fish for £4 is a stonking plate of food! Sure, its a bit mucky inside and the decor could do with some tarting up, but who cares, its a takeaway. If you'd ever worked in a takeaway like I have, you'd likely never eat from one again so a greasy ceiling wont put me off.So, if you live in Rammy and class yourself as a foodie and want to check out somewhere off the radar of usuals, forget The Hearth, forget Sanminis, forget the Eagle and Child. Get yourself down to Kans for a bag of chips, salt and pepper fish, with some curry sauce. £6.50 for a taste sensation, big enough for two people.But come on guys, wheres the free prawn crackers if you spend over say £15?! Make us smile, and whilst you're at it, give us a smile back too. And if you're one of the muppets who parks directly over the road when picking up your food, usually blocking the pavement/a bit of the actual road, then park behind the pet shop and stop being inconsiderate :DQuality chippy and going a cracking job. Open 7 days a week too!

Its just a Chinese chippy. And a good one. Thats open all the time. It's been here forever and probably always will. I like it. And they understand fluent drunken Lancastrians. Which is good!

All their food is good and excellent value.Phone orders are dealt with efficiently.Portion sizes are big so you could not end up hungry.The staff are also friendly and easy to talk to.Have been going there for years and will continue to do so.

I confess that I've only had the fish and chips here, and having not eaten anything off the Chinese menu I can't comment on it. If you're looking for a review for a Chinese meal, stop reading now as this won't provide it. I gave this place a poor, I think a lot of this has to do with how clean it all looks. The outside of it doesn’t look great and unfortunately it isn’t much better inside. It doesn’t inspire much confidence in the food preparation areas and was something that put me off slightly. The food itself is poor to average; I would give it a 2.5/5 if I could. The chips aren’t great, I felt they were slightly soggy for my liking. Another small negative is I feel the staff aren’t always that welcoming, however this isn’t a massive issue considering it's a takeaway and you aren’t in there too long. Overall if I was going to a chip shop in Ramsbottom I would probably go to somewhere else first. I only tend to go to Kans if it's late on a Sunday night and none of the other chippies are open.

This was the only chip shop open on Saturday evening, at 8pm. We were actually in Rawtenstall, & could not find a closer one, (within 5 miles, after trying Rawtenstall, Edenfield & Sstubbins.) Excellent fish & chips, & very nice staff. The Chinese menu looked good & extensive

Have always enjoyed the food from Kans, we are regular visitors to collect a quite takeway. Just a shame they don't deliver!

Asked as many locals as I could, "what's the best chippy in Ramsbottom?" and they all said Kans. so we went and they were probably right, ( we never tried another). Big portions of top quality food.

Hab dort zweimal mittag gegessen, da das Restuarant vom Hotel noch zu hatte. Das Ambiente sieht zwar ein bisschen runter gekommen aus, aber das Essen ist günstig. Die Fish and Chips sind nicht zu empfehlen, da sie fettig sind, der Fisch zu weich ist und das Essen einbisschen schwer im Magen liegt. Die chinesischen Gerichte sind akzeptabel, aber im Vergleich zur chinesischen Küche in Deutschland unterdurchschnittlich.

Have had takeaway food from here for years. Food is fresh, well priced & consistently great, with large portions. Staff are friendly, polite & extremely efficient. Would strongly recommend.

Go any evening and theres a queue thats testiment that its a great Chinese and used regularly by locals, their Salt and Pepper chip are divine!

Highly recommend Kans, lovely freshly cooked Chinese food, lovely staff, have used Kans on many occasions and never had a bad meal. Varied menu, very helpful staff.

I have visited Kans Takeaway for about 15 years and was quite surprised that the FSA have only given it a score of 4 out of 5 in Hygiene . Always looks clean, good value and nice friendly service, hence the big line out of the shop on a Friday night
