Nice place for a fine japanese meal

Food tastes good but outrageous prices and crazy small portion sizes maybe spend over £20 per person to get an actual meal other than that good service and atmosphere

We went in and asked for a table for 2 people. One of the waitresses started to check the system to see whether she could squeeze us in. The other waitress (purple hair) came over and said no straight away - that there is no room and they are too busy. We ordered take away online instead, went in to collect at the time stated online- the same waitress (with purple hair) had an attitude problem and stated that our order was not ready. When asked if the online time is wrong? She replied rudely, that they were busy prioritising the customers instore and could not give me a time for collection. When I asked will it be ready in 10 minutes, she replied with "hopefully". I understand they were busy but at the same time we were still paying customers with an order for £47.00 and got treated like our order was not worth it. The food we ordered, mainly sushi was amazing - but the customer service and atmosphere was horrific. I work in retail myself and stated that there is no need to be rude - walked out and my partner went back in to collect in 20 minutes and he spoke to someone else. The order took 35 - 40 mins even though online it stated 15 mins* online system needs updated.

Ate delicious ramen there. Service was very nice. The restaurant doesn't sell alcohol, but the non-alcoholic cocktails are delicious!

Great first meal here last week. We had a sushi boat which was fab! Squid was also lovely. Definitely recommend!

Outstanding quality food. Probably the greatest in Belfast. Hands down greatest ramen I've ever had. And the staff are just lovely. Doesn't matter if celebrating a promotion or coming up for take away for a hungover as the Kimchi pork broth cures all ailments This will always be an iconic spot for me and my family. A true Belfast treasure! It's hidden gem is it a Tempura Chicken Sushi 🍣

Nice lunchtime bento box for £14

First time here. We enjoyed a rangecof sushi and fried dishes (a mixture of staerters). My only quibble was that there was too much batter on the crab, which drowned out the taste of the crab. We'll be back.

Went here with my son for some sushi today...ordered 3 different types of sushi and was just OK...left still feeling a little hungry to be honest.

Had very good vegan starter and main. Like the fact it's a b.y.o.

Superb food at a reasonable price

Soft drinks brought to table in poured glasses-clearly out of a 2l plastic bottle of C.250 ml costing £2.60 each! Oh a 10% service charge added for table of 3.I won’t be back!

Excellent place to enjoy a good dinner

Yaki Soba very fresh, tasty, everything perfectly cooked and I don't say it often . I'm a chef myself. They don't sell alcohol but you can bring your own which is great. Will come back definitely. True gem on Holywood Road

Delicious food! The staff were lovely and very helpful with the dietary requirements in our party. Probably best to get a take away, though, as the restaurant is quite small and stuffy. Also lots of delivery drivers coming in and out

We recently visited Kamakura East Sushi and Ramen and absolutely loved it! Particularly noteworthy is the Kimchi Beef Ramen Soup - definitely one of the best I've ever enjoyed. The soup was rich, perfectly seasoned and the combination of kimchi and beef was simply amazing. The chicken teriyaki was also a big hit with us. Our kids originally wanted to share a portion, but it was so delicious that we had to order another portion. The chicken was tender and perfectly cooked with a lovely sweet and sour teriyaki sauce that was spot on. The service in the restaurant was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was welcoming. I highly recommend Kamakura East if you are looking for authentic Japanese food in a cozy setting. An absolute must for lovers of good ramen and teriyaki!

Nice atmosphere and food. A lil strange that dishes came out in whatever order they got made instead of how we ordered them, still good tho! Would recommend and would also recommend making a reservation as the number of tables is limited!

I'm sorry, but I have to say that I was treated badly by the waitress who was not polite, dismissively invited us to an unprepared table where half of the room was empty.

I love the food its soooo delicious, the employees are extremely nice and provide more than excellent service and furthermore the surroundings makes it a really nice and calm environment

I got the katsu curry it was like eating a sliced chicken burger with curry over it I could have made nicer myself! We where seated inbetween two other tables and could hear every word the people in the next table where saying there isn't enough space between the tables it makes me so uncomfortable I wouldn't return for that reason alone.

2nd time eating here and it is beautiful wee cozy spot full of amazing japanese delicacies. Atmosphere is just right for the japanese restaurant. Service excellent too. So far we didn't have to wait to be taken care of at all. But have to say that i don't think we were there at the peak times. Deffo recommending it to people who likes this kind of cuisine. If i should pick a negative comment. That would be only that tables for 2 are little bit small of you like ordering more of different things to try. So far we were seated without prebooking but if you are planning to go there during peak times, prebook it first to not be disappointed to not to get seated as it is tiny cozy place with a few tables. But worth to try!

Love eating in here food is superb! Whether it's a chill casual dinner or a date night/celebration, it's the perfect place to eat.

Service and staff were great. The place is ok. Feels like someone wanted a cozy restaurant but had to settle on a takeaway. Defo all the deliveroo/uber drivers standing close while you eat did not help. Food was a letdown, sushi was falling apart which it should not. It was also "fishy" in taste, so I'm not sure how fresh was it (we were there at 8pm). It wasn't the worst though! Overall price to quality , will stick to Sakura (expensive but worth it) or Obento (cheap and more worth it) over this. We have heard good things about Kamakura but on 1st visit this was not for us. Maybe next time!

Excellent service and food is perfect.

Believe the hype, this place is one of the best sushi restaurants I've ever been to. Would recommend the tempura chicken and the mochi is a must have as well. My partner also had the ramen here and loved it. The servers were so polite as well.

Such delicious, super fresh, authentic Japanese cuisine. I just went back there today Thursday Feb 8 at 4:30 pm. The server, Rowena, is attentive to EVERY DETAIL ❤️❤️❤️ The chef at Kamakura is incredible as is Rowena.

Great sushi I had the spicy tuna rolls and then Kimchi ramen All food comes out as its ready so be aware of that when ordering the ramen takes a bit longer but its worth the wait Love that the don't skimp on the red chillis either cause I love them! Wish there was a bit more wasabi given straight away with the sushi but I don't know if that's a cultural or economic thing so maybe just ask for extra when you order! Honestly look forward to this place everytime I'm in Belfast, try the cocktails and beers too all around class experience!

Food is delicious, staff are friendly and helpful. Importantly they aren't hovering round continuously. They are happy to let you enjoy your meal and wait for you to call them if you need them. Only reason it's getting a 4 star is unfortunately the price v portion size. It is fairly pricey. That being said. It is a great venue for a treat!

My favourite ramen and sushi in Belfast. Always great friendly service. It's BYOB but there is an off-licence only a couple of doors away.

Ordered from here countless times, been in the resteraunt a handfull of times. The food is consistently great, the staff are always welcoming and helpfull.

We came down from Bangor. The food was very disappointing over priced. I could have made the curry sauce with a tub at home. We had takeaway. Overpriced very unhappy

Had a really good meal at this small and intimate Japanese restaurant. Six of us for a family celebration. The staff were very attentive, friendly and welcoming. The food was great including my veggie option. Nice atmosphere and reasonable prices. Will definitely be back.

Our first time in this Japanese restaurant and it’s local! Can’t believe I hadn’t been here before. The sushi was so so fresh. The chicken so so tender and the flavours were just incredible. So much choice and I can’t wait to go back. One of those restaurants where you are still thinking about the flavours the next day. Also it’s BYO. Staff so friendly. If you get a chance, go!

I was really surprised to see there are so few reviews of this restaurant as the food and service are both first class. There is a good range of Japanese food for all tastes and the staff were really patient and helpful as we struggled to decide between the different options. The restaurant is very small so it was full when we were there. Definitely worth booking in advance. It is BYO as well so the bill was really low as well. We'll definitely be back.

The only place I go for sushi and raman on Belfast, and always in conversation for place to get food when ever in Belfast! Deliberately drove over East just for Kamakura! Place is small so booking is essential

Nice ramen as compared to others in the UK. But being from Boston, US, it's nowhere near comparable. I'm used to thick and rich pork broth

The starters were brilliant. The korokke was lovely and crispy, and the sashimi was so buttery. The ramen was just not it, though. Honestly, just go for the sushi here, leave the noodles

Kamakura Holywood rd Just had a takeaway lunch, I had the chicken curry bento absolutely amazing the best Japanese food I’ve ever had, I will definitely be back for more. Very friendly staff and a lovely authentic looking restaurant. 😀

Very nice food, very nice service. We sat in a very nice place and all the good food sushi is a huge variety on choices.

Came for some lunch with my partner. The staff are really friendly and helpful with questions, went to ask the chef about one of the sauces on a dish when we asked what it was. Lovely Japanese style atmosphere, from the lo-fi studio Ghibli music, sliding doors, their uniform and the decor. We ended up getting the bento box lunch option and it was really tasty, you get a little bit of everything, gyoza, sushi, miso soup, rice and the main. Very filling and tasty!

Do not go! Food was 40 mins late(cold) . Had 2 items missing from my order and never got them. Staff is so rude too . Especiaaly the Asian woman at the bar ! Strongly avpid!!

My only regret- not visiting here sooner! Prawn tempura, steak tempyaniki and pork gyozas all to die for. BYO is a bonus. Staff were lovely and the bill was very reasonable. Will definitely be back VERY soon!

I ordered two California rolls to be delivered at my Airbnb, they were good, avocado was really tasty, but they only put a tinny container with soy sauce which was enough for 1 piece out of the 8 that come with 1 sushi roll. I don’t live in this country, I am a tourist and it was really sad to eat my roll without soy sauce because I am not carrying a bottle of soy sauce with me. 😩

Live this place been a couple of times for lunch and a couple for dinner. Staff are lovely and very helpful. I'm vegan and mum has allergies and hubby eats anything and they were able to cater for us all. A great selection of dishes. Highly recommend for some casual sit in dining but also offer takeaway.

The food is delishious, Ebi (tiger prawn) Tempura is a must have for me every time. The main portions are big enough. Polite and swift service, simple but elegant presentation and decor. Highly recommended!

Yesterday evening we went for dinner with my partner and our daughter! This is our second visit in Kamkura and definitely not the last! We had the Tempura King Prawns for starter and Sushi platters for mains! The service was perfect and people so friendly and patient! I don’t like raw fish so I asked if I they can include only smoked fish in my plater and they made me special platter which was the best Sushi platter I have had in my entire life! If I can give 10 stars review , I definitely would! Highly recommend this restaurant for every Sushi lover! ❤️

The food was very nice but when you add on extras, it did seem the dish was a bit too expensive. But it was all very good. Really loved the tempura.

Nice service, nice design, overpriced food. It looks like recently they dropped in quality. My chicken ramen didn't include the 2x eggs I was expecting, and the iconic narutomaki. Overall it was quite poor in terms of content. The taste wasn't bad though! The cheapest ramen is £15 (for an OK size bowl). Starter of 2 tiny asparagus and some baby-sized prawns were £8. At this price point they're taking the p*ss. They also have way too much staff running around when we were the only ones in the restaurant. Will not be back.
