Firstly there seems to be some confusion over location. Kaiteur Kitchen Original is located at the Castle Square Elephant and Castle . SE17 1EU . Some photos enclosed . The staff are very friendly. Its a small place but food excellent and more importantly authentic Guyanese taste. Highly recommend a visit here. I will certainly be back .

I eat at this little restaurant before going to a concert at the nearby Corsica Studios. I was immediately made very welcome, offered a complementary juice drink (which utterly delicious) and I eat fried chicken with a special Caribbean rice and several side dishes and dips. The total bill came to £15, which was fantastic value. I would highly recommend this little gem 😋🍽🍹

Guyana is rather hidden in South America, bordering Brazil to the south and west, Venezuela to the northwest, and Suriname to the east. The Kaieteur Kitchen is also kinda hidden, in the box complex near Elephant Road. The very warm chef Faye Gomes receives you with her engaging manner and quickly leaves you with a feeling of welcome. I was served a cup of homemade ginger mango punch, which tasted really great. In fact, you need a bit of patience here, especially if the little parlor should get a bit crowded. Then I ordered Coconut Lamb with Roti and fried Okra in a Sweet Potatoe Stew. The food itself came relatively quickly and it tasted awesome. The lamb in particular was exceptionally tender and cooked to perfection. The friendly waitress was very attentive, and the fantastic chef cannot be praised enough. The other guests were also in the best of moods, leaving a very warm atmosphere overall. Guyana is so far away, but Kaieteur Kitchen can at least bring a touch closer to you.

I am a firm regular and I have never been disappointed once. The food that is prepared at the restaurant is always delicious and fresh. I have attended many times, but the best time to go is in the afternoon before everything gets sold out. It's becoming very popular and I thought I could keep it as my little secret, but I'm so glad about the success. Faye the owner is such a warm and welcoming person, she is really the heart and soul of the restaurant. Every guest that enters is given such a personal and warm service it's great. I take all of my friends who I care about here and they are never disappointed either. I highly recommend this hidden gem.

Went last night with my son and my partner. Having a Guyanese mother I was very excited going to this Guyanese restaurant (especially as there are none in East Hertfordshire where we live) and was not dissappointed from the moment we walked through the doors. We were warmly greeted by Andy, the owner and we met his lovely wife, Pam later on. The food was fantastic, an extensive menu of all things Guyanese and West Indian. Heaven !! Andy had a full face visor on when we arrived and used blue disposable gloves when presenting the food. A good sign. We had Pholourie for starters and Andy added some Bygonne fritters too. For mains we had a goat and a lamb curry with cook up rice, plantain and a side dish of jerk chicken wings and I had a Brown Chicken Stew with red kidney beans. The flavours were so fresh and tasty ....delicious. What a meal !! My son and I finished off with a couple of El Dorado rums (what else ??) and we took home some banana cake which I had a slice of as soon as we got home. Again, delicious. Light and tasty. We shall be back very soon. Pam and Andy were great hosts and loved talking to them about Guyana and of course FOOD !! Strongly recommend trying this gem of a restaurant. We shall be back...and you will too.

I went there for my birthday on Friday with 8 family members. Andrew had created a lovely space for us, respecting the social distancing. It was just a very special evening. Pam is an amazing chef and we had a variety of dishes, all superb. My family wanted to take me to a fancy steak place but I chose Kaiteur Kitchen and what a brilliant choice that was. I might be biased but Guyanese cuisine has the most variety in the Caribbean (best tasting too - to do with the fusion of food of 6 different ethnic groups and being on the South American mainland) and Andrew and Pam reflect this in what they serve. It was like my mother’s cooking. Everything is made from scratch even the sauces and black pudding.I mustn’t forget to mention that they also serve El Dorado rum. Best rum in the world. Best Caribbean restaurant in London - extremely clean and hygienic too. Thank you Andrew and Pam!

Wow, at last not juat jerk chicken and rice and peas, the caribbean is bigger than just Jamaica and Kaieteur Kitchen brings all the flavours of indian, african and even chinese influenced caribbean food to your plate. Roti, curry, polourie, doubles, lo-mein, kerk chicken, pumpkin, chana, stew chicken, fish they have it all. My belly was full I wont lie I ate way too much and had a food coma on the way home. Polourie to start, Roti and lamb curry next and then Rice and stew chicken and a slice of kai cake to finish all washed down by a 2 non alcoholic Kai Punches! More than your monies worth and the taste made me want to go back as soon as I had left, in fact my biggest mistake was not getting a take away. Only down side was the fact I live in Essex and this place is in Enfield... I need ome closer!

At last, an authentic Indo-Caribbean/West Indian restaurant this side of London. This is probably the nearest you will get to home cooked West Indian dishes. All the Guyanese dishes you miss from back home are now available, Bake & Saltfish, Roti, Curries, Pepperpot, Mithai, Casava Pone to name a few. i am now a regular there trying different dishes to compare but really impressed with the selection available. The Bakes are good, curry and roti you cannot go wrong and the home made cakes are good to. They even make their own Mauby and Sorrell so everything is home made. I would definately recommend a visit to this restaurant if you indo-caribbean/west indian and like Guyanese dishes.

Finally!!! A place that you can get some real home cooked food locally that doesn't rip you off (cough cough b*%#n e@&!e) Being a Guyanese, I have always strived for some proper home delights when but unless me or my mum cook it, we don't get it. Until now.... the food is great, just what you want: Curry chicken/lamb/prawn Roti Rice/rice n peas Mac n cheese Pholourie Pine tart Etc Then they have daily specials: fish Friday, metemgee, salt fish n bake amongst others. Now it's not easy to get authentic Guyanese ingredients and seasonings so it's not as easy as you think to just 'cook it yourself' which is why I appreciate it even more. The owners are lovely and will make you food on request for another day if you like and the restaurant itself is very clean. I only discovered it on Friday, and I've been there 3 times since then, including twice today (it's only Tuesday). 😳 I'm so happy this is in Enfield and that I have a piece of culture and community on my doorstep. I wish them all the best in the future, I know they'll do well. Me and my family will be back again in no time (Friday to be exact) Well done guys! Keep up the good work!!
