K-Wok Chinese Takeaway in South Lanarkshire

K-wok, is far better than what you would expect in a small town in the Scottish Borders, it's easy to understand the long waiting times at weekends when the food is this good

Last night, my family was in the mood for something new so we decided to give K-Wok a try. From the very first moment, the experience was fantastic. The lady who took our order over the phone was incredibly kind and patient. She took the time to understand exactly what we wanted, even going out of her way to answer our questions about the vegetarian options. Her helpfulness really set the tone for the whole experience. Picking up the food was a breeze, and we were impressed by how well everything was packaged for takeout. Once we got home, we enjoyed our meal while playing a game of cards, and it was the perfect combination of convenience and flavor. The dishes were delicious, with each bite better than the last. I would wholeheartedly recommend K-Wok to any family looking for a quick, easy, and affordable meal that doesn’t compromise on taste. It’s a great option for a relaxed night in, and we’ll definitely be ordering from them again! ♥︎

We don’t usually opt for Chinese, but as we are away for the weekend we thought we would give it a shot and can honestly say we were not disappointed! The lady who took our order was professional and welcoming and made clear to us what to expect and when. The driver did a fabulous job of finding us tucked away at our little cottage and was lovely to speak to! As for the food it was absolutely delicious, we had mushroom chow mein, prawn toast, sweet and sour chicken and salt and chilli chicken and it was absolutely fabulous. Food was hot and well seasoned and couldn’t find fault with it. If we ever visit this part of Scotland again we’ll be sure to return!

She told me the price and i drove to collect it. I waited 2 mins and received a fresh piping hot, freshly cooked delicious tasting order from the friendly staff. I will definitely be going back, highly recommend!

LOVE THIS PLACE owners are lovely; customer service is OUTSTANDING by the lovely NICOLA staff are always very FRIENDLY nothing is too much trouble when requesting something that's not on the menu. if you're passing through Biggar or staying up here on holiday then this is the place to visit if you want a DELICIOUS Chinese takeaway, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to EVERYONE {very FRIENDLY place}

Good and tasty food. Waiting time is a bit longer than other Chinese takeaways. The lady at the service desk is warm and welcoming.. hope to try again soon.

YUMMY CHINESE TAKEAWAY FOOD the food here is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING Especially the SALT & CHILLI ONION RINGS, these are a MUST try i promise you wont be DISAPPOINTED we always make a point of getting a takeaway when we are passing through some weekends, i must say also to try the salt & chilli ribs and the salt & chilli chicken ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS TOO these were ALL recommended to me by a LOVELY member of staff called Nicola i must mention how lovely all the staff are that work here they are kind, attentive & friendly what a great team. A Wee Hidden Gem In Biggar, This takeaway is AMAZING Great Food, LOVELY staff who are always attentive and Friendly service with a smile every time, outstanding customer service. This is my favourite Chinese takeaway by FAR, I highly recommend the salt & chilli chicken or salt & chilli Ribs & most importantly the salt & chilli ONION RINGS these were all recommended to me by a lovely member of staff called Nicola they are absolutely DELICIOUS cant Wait till i return to Biggar again to place my Next Order

We love getting a cheeky wee takeaway from Kwok! Lovely woman at the till, with good chat! Munchy boxes are the best, especially when you're hinging! Hits the spot every time! Our favourite has to be the salt and chilli chicken and salt and chilli onion rings 😍

Food tasty and staff friendly but had to wait for over half an hour on my meal 😔

Used k-wok for years now and never had a bad meal however was a little concerned as had quite a few family round so a larger order and I know some people get used to their own local Chinese but all the family enjoyed their meal and didn’t have a bad word to say. Was nice to try some other dishes too other than just our usual

We went to make an order for four dishes. I asked them whether the sauce and noodles are mixed together or not, since this would have been more convenient for us while we were travelling. She was friendly and willing to answer our questions; although, she was not entirely correct when she stated that they were, as it turned out. This would've been fine; the sauces were decent; but, the pasta was a complete and utter joke, looked a bit like a pot noodle without the water. It wasn't cooked yet somehow it was burnt. This has ruined the entire meal and we sure won’t be going back.

This is our go to place if we fancy a takeaway for a treat. Salt and chilli ribs for starter are always superb. For mains we enjoy their sezchuan char Sui with noodles, but frankly the portions are too big. Mostly now we opt for noodles with a separate portion of the spicy garlic sauce, delicious. The owner is lovely and friendly too.

Lovely customer service, wee young woman at desk was very helpful and polite, lovely food and quick preparation time. Highly recommend.

Have Chinese every other week here but this week we ordered it at 5pm and was told it would arrive at 6pm, and at 8:15pm we were told it was still on its way. We called the place 5 times and were told it was en route or we were hung up on. We phoned, eventually got through and told them we didn’t want it anymore and we got a chippy from town head instead.

food was nice and hot when I got it but when I started eating it I started to take unwell chicken balls weren’t cooked right through I’ve been violently sick and have a very sore belly since then really not happy wasn’t worth £10.80 small munchie box for the price Absolutely Ridiculous if you ask me won’t be back I am disgusted of the way the food has been I’m never ill with takeaways but this made me very ill I will never be back and upon arrival receptionist seemed very rushed!!!!

Whatever happened to the K-Wok of old? It used to be our go to place when we passed through Biggar. Not any more and if the local people are to be believed it’s since new owners took over a while back.Where to start? We walked into the shop and a very happy staff member took our order of a chicken curry and rice and a side of chips to share. Paid for them and waited for them knowing they’d be good. Girl on the counter checked with the kitchen and was told my order would be ready in 20 minutes. We went for a stroll and came back 20 minutes or so later but we couldn’t get near the shop for phone order customers waiting for their food. One lady I spoke to was told to come to the shop in 45 mins which she did only to find her order wasn’t ready for her. It eventually arrived in 90 minutes! This was the view of the crowd of 8 of us waiting outsideAnother customer who used to get his food delivered now collects his order from the shop by walking into the shop with no pre order and that way KWok chefs (if there’s more than one) cook his food in 15-20 minutes. My order finally arrived in 55 minutes which was wholly unacceptable and so we won’t be using the shop again for that reason. No harm to the lady on the counter. She asked the kitchen for updates and nobody in the kitchen would tell her what was happening. The manager refused to come out front when I asked for her saying she was too busy for customers.To sum up since the change of ownership this place has taken a nose dive. There used to be a happy, jovial atmosphere and banter from the staff and customers. That’s all gone now. The once beautiful curry sauce has been replaced by gloopy tasteless mess and the rice has been changed to some cheap brand which makes it taste awful.We’ll never be back to this place whilst the present people run it. It’s cash only as well which we found odd in this day and age. Best thing about the place? The lady on the front counter that attempted to keep everyone happy.Staff 10/10Food 2/10Timing 1/10Managements attitude to customers and staff 0/10

Recently moved to Biggar and decided to phone an order to be delivered. Big mistake!!! After one hour and forty minutes we phoned to find out what had happened to our meal. We were told that they were busy and only had one delivery driver. Two hours later, it arrived. Meal was cold apart from portion of chips. The chow mein was a big lump of tasteless noodles all stuck together. What a disappointment. Would certainly not recommend to anyone and will never go back.

A munchy box l would batter my granny for!!! After my fiancè got the weekend off to come home. We decided cooking was completely off the table. So the chinese menu came out despite us usually getting the exact same meal every time. A twist in the story however, had us ordering the large salt and chilli munchy box with a side of fried rice. ABSOLUTELY BANGING! 10/10 would assault a family member should they try take any without prior permission.

Have used this takeaway a number times over the years and never being disappointed, always happy with the food and the free prawn crackers while you wait ;) but great food and happy staff! Never go anywhere else for my battered chicken baws and lemon sauce!

Had one meal from this takeaway and it was awful, thought maybe it was just an off day so I tried it once more and it got worse. Wouldn’t recommend this takeaway to my worst enemy to be frank

Phoned and ordered my small meal which was fine. Lady that took order seemed rushed and unsure of how long it would be bearing in mind this was a Wednesday evening.....not a Friday night, so I wasn’t expecting to be told 90 minutes...... turned up thinking it would be quick pick up and go. How wrong! 20 minutes more waiting! The receptionist isn’t very pleasant a bit clueless. How ever the food is hot, well packaged and very good portions! Lighten up and throw a free bag of prawn crackers in!Phone in advance and make sure your ready for a long wait!

Friendly staff & lovely food. We were a party of 10 for takeaway. We had a selection of beef,chicken and prawn dishes ........every one was delicious. I would have no hesitation in recommending this takeaway.

Phoned to order a curry at 6.55 to COLLECT and was told that it would be about an hour so went to collect at 7.55 and they only started to make it so had to wait a further 30 minutes, 30 MINUTES.. not even a free bag of prawn crackers ‍♀️

Lovely food - I asked for Roast Duck with Cashew Nuts and Special Fried Rice and my wife had Roast Chicken with Ginger and Cashew Nuts plus fried rice. We also received lovely Prawn Crackers. Worked well for us - we'll happily go back.

Very friendly and helpful staff, recommendation of satay spring rolls, no words of how good they were... Very quick delivery service yet again friendly staff. Highly recommended... Keep up the great work guys!

This is an excellent little takeaway. I have eaten many meals from here and haven’t had a bad one yet. I came home from holiday to an empty house and empty fridge last week so this was my first port of call. I had one of their duck dishes and thouroughly enjoyed it. Good portion size and a bag of prawn crackers to much on later.I would highly recommend this place and definitely will go back.

As others have said, there are new owners. We ordered a meal for four including starters with vegetarian dish, the whole meal was delicious with good portions. My wife especially liked the salt and chilly king prawn in a batter. I had chicken green pepper black bean sauce. The chicken was excellent and juicy. Yes they cook different recipes to pevious owners but dishes are still very good. We will continue with Kwok as it is still much better than the Oriental. Our family friends both really enjoyed their meal and their dishes too.

My family and I used to go to this chinese all the time as it was our favourite in biggar,but now since the new owners have taken over we are very disappointed.The food doesn't compare to the food before,the curry sauce has a really bland taste and the chicken had wee purple bits inside.We now cant have a chinese in biggar anymore as we will not be returning to this one, my whole family have been on separate occasions and none of us have liked it.It is so disappointing.

We have had a couple of takeaways from K-Wok. The staff are friendly and engaging. Prices are amazing and the food is just wonderful

Cuando kwok abrió lo que era un buen restaurante Chino en Biggar. Una buena variedad de platos diferentes que no se ven en todos los chinos. Recientemente ha cambiado de manos y si la comida de esta noche fue por que no volveré. La Sal y el chili fichas solía ser bien frito con cebolla, chiles frescos. Ahora son simplemente espolvoreado con copos de chili. La Sal y el chili pollo es ahora glorificado pelotas de pollo nada como lo que solía ser. El menú ahora tiene todos los interesantes platos inusuales eliminadas. Tan triste!

Había oído cosas buenas y no nos decepcionó. He tenido mucho mejor chinos (es la mejor en Biggar) pero es muy bueno y una relación calidad-precio increíble. £21 por un entrante, 3 platos principales y 2 de arroz y gambas galletas saladas. El orden un poco mal (duros en vez de arroz frito) pero no fue un problema. Mi consejo es que revisa la bolsa antes de salir de la tienda. Su página de Facebook tiene fotos del menú, eso es en cuanto a su presencia en línea va ;) sólo en efectivo, no tarjetas. Personal amable en el teléfono y en la tienda. Que buen uso de envases de plástico de calidad con tapas que no goteen y pueden ser reutilizados, cosa que es de agradecer dado que tenemos una casa de 20 minutos en coche. La carne con nueces de anacardo era el plato destacado. Usaremos a ellos de nuevo.

Had several different dishes from here and they've all been fantastic. Highly recommend it. Only downside is no card payments but plenty of ATMs nearby.

K-Wok doesn't look much from the outside & in fact is less attractive once inside. It has all the usual suspects on the menu &, having had a quick look at other reviews, wonder why people are surprised that a meal is a bit bland when it's one of the best part of 100 choices on the menu.

Se dan puntos por hacer la comida bastante buena. Decidimos darle una oportunidad al servicio de entrega y cotizado de 40 minutos. Después de 1 horas nos dio una llamada y la chica de recepción no sé si nuestra comida era para la entrega. ¿Cómo no sabes? Ella dijo que sería con nosotros pronto, 30 minutos después aún nada. Llamamos de nuevo y todavía no se sabe si para la entrega. Ella ni siquiera sabía si había sido preparado, ni cuidado. Cancelamos la sensación de orden muy decepcionado.

I was tempted to try the chip shop opposite but the queue there put me off. So glad we went into this small takeaway shop however. My order was taken by a friendly chatty lady who recommended a few dishes to us and I took her up on the happy meal deal of Spring rolls and Chicken, Peppers and Black Bean Sauce.The food arrived fairly quickly which was good considering the shop was busy with customers arriving to collect their food. The shop 'phone never stopped ringing so I took that to mean this shop is very popular in the area.The lady 'manning' the counter was chatty and I heard her explain that the chefs could make several dishes gluten free at no extra charge which is great don't you think?Happy chatty lady gave me a fork and a napkin so I could sit outside on the nearby bench with my food and watch the world pass by. What a lovely way to spend a sunny Friday evening in Biggar.To sum up, very friendly service, warm welcome, fresh tasty hot food.I think I may have just found my new stopping place in Biggar!

Never again! Most of our takeaway ended up in the dustbin. The food was overlooked, bland, sloppy and inedible. Quite shocked that it could be so bad. Cheap food, I guess you pay for what you get!

Phoned in for a Chinese takeaway to the K-Wok in Biggar on Saturday 02.01.16 and travelled the 15 miles in to collect. Ordered a chicken chow-mein and a duck in plum sauce etc. Food was acceptable but nothing special

Send this takeaway several times ,can't fault it ,great choice of Chinese and European dishes ,I like the beef curry beef just melts in your mouth

I was well pleased with the food I ordered, a very tasty dish and plenty of it. I had char su pork with black bean and pepper sauce very enjoyable.

Before you order make sure you have enough cash on you as they don't take cards. The food was really good, hot and non greasy. Yes, I would recommend this take away.

Firstly, the wee guy at the front of house is really friendly.Unfortunately I ordered a chicken satay and what I got was nothing like a satay. I have a feeling I ended up with the wrong order. What I got appeared to be chicken in blackbean sauce which had loads of mushrooms which is unfortunately not good for me. What I ate of it was decent. My wife had crispy chicken which she said was good. A shame about the order mix up.Great prices though.

The food was excellent, staff were friendly and chatty, food was excellent, hot, fresh and very tasty. Oh, did I mention the food was excellent?Prices were very reasonable and the menu has something for everyone and I overheard the lady telling another customer the chef would be happy to make something else not on the menu if the ingredients were in stock which was a nice touch.Plenty of (free) parking outside as well. It's a small shop so just look for the sign and you'll find this gem of a Chinese takeaway just beside the new(?) Museum.Keep it up K-Wok! We'll be dropping in again soon on our way through Biggar.

Started going into K-Wok when my wife and I recently moved to Biggar and we have been in regularly since. Food is delicious and never greasy.

Where to start? We were staying with friends and decided on having a Chinese meal delivered. Having read the reviews online we decided to give Kwok a try.I was unsure what to order the lady on the 'phone was very patient in explaining the menu to me and recommended a few dishes for us. We settled on a meal deal as it had the dishes I liked and was good value for money.Our meals arrived after a very short time and were very hot and fresh. The driver was very polite and unexpectedly gave me bottle of Coca Cola. I thought my order was wrong until the driver explained that it was complimentary. A lovely touch thank you.As Arnie says: "I'll be back".Friendly Staff both on the phone and driver.Fab food;Fast delivery.

Everything I've had from here has always been delicious and tasty and always piping hot, lots of dishes to choose from. I've never disliked anything.

We were at Volksfling and couldn't be bothered cooking in our campervan so walked into Biggar and ordered takeaway food here. The young lad who took the order was friendly and courteous. The food was ready quickly was very reasonably priced and was excellent. So much so that despite there being plenty other options at the Volksfling event we came back the next night and the next choices were equally good. Well done to all.

Delicious food and friendly service. I had a won ton soup which was full of flavour, spare ribs and chicken fried rice. The rice was perfect and the gravy was nice too. The staff were really friendly, would recommend even if it doesn't look great from the outside!!

Not having much time to waste I telephoned in my order I asked when I should call in to collect it. I arrived at the appointed time to find that my meal was NOT ready and had to wait a full ten minutes to collect it. The King prawns were sparse and the container was mostly filled with pretty wet and sloppy noodles. It was not a particularly busy time of the evening so consequently I found it a bit of a disappointment. Shan't rush back again.

Forget The Oriental, K-Wok is where you want to order from. Hot, tasty and happy to make up dishes not on the menu, we're total converts.Delivery is prompt and polite. Keep up the good work, K-Wok, Biggar needs you!

Working in the area and stayed in a Hotel nearby. The hotel staff suggested I try this chinese takeaway who delivered to the Hotel and I was glad I listened to them.My order was some Soup and Yeung Chow Fried rice. Both dishes were very well cooked, hot and tasty. Hit the spot and reasonably priced.I stop often in the area and will be using this takeaway again.

Read previous reviews and decided to order chilli beef, sweet and sour chicken, beef in mushrooms and spare ribs with special fried rice. Very busy, plenty of telephone orders and local residents coming in. Food remained very hot on journey back to holiday cottage. All dishes very tasty and cooked well. Flavours of rice and sauce especially good. Complimentary prawn crackers which were very light and crisp. Plenty of food for 4 adults, reasonably priced.

We had our first takeaway from the new Chinese takeaway and it was delicious. Food was better than from the other Chinese in Biggar and far cheaper. Will definitely be going again.

Having recently moved into the area, my wife and I wanted a takeaway and I stumbled upon this place. On first impressions the takeaway is clean, menus are well presented and there is a wide range of dishes available.I was warmly welcomed and when I explained I was new to the area, the young lady informed me that if something I would normally have is not listed then they would do their best to match it against a menu item or perhaps try and make it. I was able to customise my order , like a spicy curry you see, and I was able to get everything I wanted.I felt the price was a little higher than normal but not much and after an acceptable wait, I headed home. The food was hot, well prepared and obviously quality ingredients were used as it was delicious and we enjoyed all that we ordered. Their Peking sauce is tangy and sweet but very flavoursome and their extra hot curry is hot but retains its flavour and is not just loaded with chilli oil. All in all, highly recommended and the extra cost and wait on preparation are more than justified. The free bottle of juice was a nice touch and we would certainly go back again.

I stumbled upon this gem of a takeaway on my way down south. I'm glad I did. Set back from the main road passing through Biggar you might miss it though.We went in after parking (free) outside and had a look at the menu on offer which had a fantastic selection of dishes on offer. Prices were very good and we eventually settled upon an aptly named 'happy meal' which had a starter and main course for only £7 when we were there.The takeaway seemed very popular with the locals as while we were waiting their telephone kept ringing and a steady stream of customers were collecting meals. Our food was fairly quick to arrive and when we got back to our room at Abington it was still hot and tasty.Our menu choices were starters of Prawn Toast and Chicken Noodle soup and the mains were Chicken Chow Mein and a Beef Curry served with a very nice fried rice. My partner could not finish her food though as she was very impressed by the large portion sizes.Happily recommend this takeaway to anyone passing through Biggar. Very nice food, great price and friendly staff. I wonder if they deliver area covers my area?
