Juicy African Kitchen in Leeds

Ordered a delivery, this took over 2 hours to arrive, extremely unprofessional and bad customer service. Also replaced one of the items as they did not have any of the that I ordered. Extremely poor service, please order from alternative restaurants.

In my early weeks of pregnancy and craved dodo (fried plantain) so I ordered from Ubereats, (I should have paid attention to their rating, but I decided to not judge them by some stars, jokes on me!) First off, it said I had to order more than £21 to get it delivered to me, so I added other foods because I really wanted to eat plantain. The time showed 15-20mins, it was long but I could endure, I place my order at 15:47, my delivery arrived at 17:32!!!!!!!! I called this restaurant, no apologies whatsoever, all I got told was that the driver MAY be stuck in traffic! Of course by the time he arrived, no explanation or apologies for the delay as well and to make it worse I had to make something else to eat and had lost my appetite for dodo , so £28 in the mud!!!! I usually don’t write bad reviews but the service of this place is so dissatisfying!

I ordered ayamase and what I got was definitely not ayamase. The oil alone would flood the pacific. Secondly their delivery service is the worst. Ordered for almost 3hours before my food came in. Would Not recommend at all!!!!!

Food was tasty and flavoursome. However quantity questionable. Okro stew had no sauce to it. Whilst the gbegiri soup was not gbegiri and had only two pieces of meat. Not much for £15. I took photos but unable to post. Also, book ahead of time as delivery takes more than an hour. Has happened on the two occasions when meals have been ordered.

The food is really good but the delivery, customer service and communication needs to be improved.

On a heavily snowed in day, they braved all odds and delivered. And on time too! Food was tasty as usual and they communicate very well about your order if needed. Definitely 5 star!

We bought some Nigerian food in this place and we enjoyed every bit of it.

Juicy African Kitchen did us proud yesterday, catering for my Mum and Dad’s 80th and 87th birthdays. We ordered a good range of tasty food for 12 people and my parents were overjoyed. The flavours took them right back to Nigeria and the rest of us, from young to old, loved every bite. Cannot recommend enough.

Do not order food from this restaurant, my my order took four (4) hours to arrive, very poor customer service, no apology, food was very cold. Not ordering from here anymore. Just eat was blamed for this service.

Food is bland and not authentic. Really disappointed as I was looking forward to some tasty food, but the jollof rice had no colour or flavour and neither did the chicken.

Ordered via a food app and they had a delivery time. The order was late. When I asked they said the driver was stuck in traffic . I called to ask to speak to the driver but the staff were shouting at me. Turns out the food hadn’t left the store the first time I called over 30 minutes before. Very unprofessional staff and the food was sub par.

Growing up in London, I always love a good Jollof every now and then. My favourite is Nigerian jollof but Gambian is a close second. Since I moved up north, it’s hard to find an authentic ‘aunty’ made Jollof rice. Then I stumbled upon this place and I was over the moon it was served by a Nigerian aunty and the price was very reasonable. Unfortunately when I took this home, I have to say it was not as good as I imagined it could be. It’s very dry, not that spicy, more tomato based. I did not get any hint of scotch bonnet. Also the meat is tough. I ordered a goat jollof and a chicken jollof. The goat jollof was much better than the chicken that’s for sure. Didn’t taste that bad. I had the malt drink which washed it all down but overall I would not go back to this place.

Food not delivered till now 16:07pm, please help call them. The food vendor does not have good customer service.

I only placed an order and did not visit. The customer service representative was awesome. She added free water because I couldn't on Deliveroo. I ordered goat white rice and ayamase stew, assorted meat pepper soup and assorted meat itself. It was my best meal while visiting Leeds. Right temperature, right quantity not sacrificing quality. Infact, I couldn't finish it. Although I read many bad comments that almost discouraged me, but I thank God I took the risk. Thanks to you guys.

I’m yet to receive the food. This is one hour late.

The delivery service is terrible I haven’t received my order and it’s been over an hour and I can’t even get through to the phone is constantly busy. And there’s no update on my food. I’m really disappointed as this is the second time this has happened and I thought to give them a chance but I won’t order from them again.

Placed an order that was meant to be delivered in less than an hour. It’s taken over three hours and I’m yet to receive it. They promised on several occasions that the order was on the way. They’re only an 8-minute drive away. If this was coming from outside the country, it’d be here already. Now, an ulcer patient would have to go to bed hungry because of this absolutely disgusting restaurant! Order from them at your own risk!

Their customer service has been absolutely amazing, there was an issue with my order from a deliveroo driver which was handled perfectly by the restaurant. As well as the food being delicious, the fish was soooo good exactly how I expected it and better. I’ve order multiple times from this restaurant and never had an issue with the food!!! As a Nigerian foodie, I’m grateful for this place.

The delivery time was abysmal and when I called to inquire why my delivery was late the restaurant had a non-charlant attitude. The quality of the jollof rice I ordered was substandard, too salty for my liken. I definitely will not be ordering another meal from them whenever I visit Leeds.

restaurant claimed tried to contact as did not have item but no contact made. App saying delivery out, after 30 minutes contacted restaurant to be told driver will be 5 minutes. Driver was trying to deliver half an order after it had been out for delivery for more than 30 minutes!!!!? asked for complete refund and cancel order, first time this has happened.

I love this place I order most weeks and the food is always spot on. My favourite is beef ogbono with pounded yam. Jo is such a kind friendly person and so welcoming. I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to try. Thank you guys. Love Becky.xxxxx

When I reordered again they rang me been very nasty saying they have never took that long I said ok sorry what time will u be tonight they as it says 10pm to 10.20pm she said it'll be after 11.15 at least as she can't get us here any quicker do I want my order or not its the only African place I no so had to.order the customer services are shocking the prices are even worse and the delivery time is non existence u need to order just eat workers and see how long it takes then ull understand it is shocking how u even have them still on here

I ordered for food costing about 42.50 including delivery fees at about 17:20pm and estimated delivery was for 18:45pm. They don’t apologise for the delay instead indicated the food as delivered. After alerting just eat about this, they increased the delivery time to 19:25pm. At 19:35 I called the restaurant and they were rude in response and said the delivery driver was on his way. OMG. The afang soup was tasteless. Please don't bother to order it. Poor representation of a soup that is known for its savory nature. Customer service is poor. No apologies after nicely giving feedback about the soup. The jollof rice was okay but not enough to sway this review.

Food was good, but there’s a big problem with delivery. Worried that the restaurant will be busy or stuck in traffic, I ordered at 5pm on a weekday with an estimated delivery time of 5:45pm (the restaurant was about a 10-minute drive to my location). It started showing waiting for delivery at 5:35, and didn't turn out to be on its way to me until after I made my first call at 5:55 (and was told it would take 10/15 minutes). The second call was made at 6:15 and was told my order had just left the shop. The third call was made at 6:40, after which I was told by the driver that it would take another two minutes, and finally received my food at 6:57. I kept searching, there’s no traffic all the way. By the way, the delivery fee is £3.

This is the second time my order has not been nice , the okra was not stringy at all , I feel like it was over cooked and I also got the wrong drinks. I was quite disappointed as I remember before I used to order and it used to be amazing and now not equivalent to that which is quite sad . Now I feel like it was a waste of money did not even eat well.

I don't know which oil was used for the egusi but it carried a back taste to it that was not pleasant at all. The suya wasn't anything close to real suya and the meat pie didn't have any taste at all. My boyfriend got the Edinka Ikong and it tasted like just water. I hate to waste food but it's all in the trash. Please don't waste your time.

The Ayamashe did not quite hit the spot and the Nkwobi was bland. Loved the smokiness of the jollof rice and the fried yam and egg was very tasty. Delivery was late as well but did not affect the temperature of the food. Might try other dishes here again when back in Leeds.

I called to say there was no option of fried plantain,the restaurant said i could at meat pie and add a note to say “instead of pie,i want plaintain”. I instead saw pie that i never wanted. So disappointed

I've ordered from here a few years back to try nigerian food and the food was extra spicy and really late... this time I cant fault anything.... food came on time, was hot, delicious, spicy enough not overpowering, delicious smokey taste, perfect fufu. I've ordered egousi soup and okra soup and both great flavours. Thank you very much, lovely to try other countries food, really enjoyed this experience.

terrible restaurant. abysmal attitude from staff. ordered food at 17:18, food arrived at 19:15. They even at some point said food was delivered when it wasn't. After that another over 40mins wait. called the restaurant? rude staff, was even laughing. whatever you do steer clear of this restaurant. I regret ordering from them.

Food was 1 hour and 40 minutes late, and they got the order wrong. They gave me chicken jollof rice when I ordered beef. I don’t want to wait another 3 hours for more food so I guess I’ll eat this when I don’t like it!!! Please do not order from here :’(

Please respect peoples tastebuds….You can please do better with your afang soup and fried rice. There was barely any flesh on the goat meat and the fried rice was tasteles with little to no vegetables.

Jollof rice was alright, same with turkey but the puff puff was ridiculously hard. I This should be the third time with the same experience, I thought to give it another try but it wasn’t great at all. I could barely bite into it, it felt like few days old but just dipped again in oil. Can do better please. Also if they’ve not got the specific fish you want, they should tell you instead of sending a different fish for the barbecue (but it tasted nice, would just prefer what I specifically order

I went to this shop three times in 2022, I had great experience the three time. *But this year 2023.* I went there early this year, the staffs have changed. The customer service was very poor and even the food was not properly done and tasteless. I decided to not give a review cause that was the first time I had horrible experience of the restaurant. I gave it a second chance two days ago. I went there with my family as usual. We ordered three poundo, two efo and 1 egunsi. All the foods was very tasteless. Even the goat meat was full of fat. We didn’t enjoy it. We couldn’t even finish the onlyGodknows meal. So I ordered two plates of catfish peppersoup. Omg!! It was terribly disappointing. It was so bitter to the extent that I couldn’t swallow it. I had to pour the two plates of £30 worth peppersoup in the bin. I don’t know if it was too much bitterleave that was used to prepare it or I don’t even know. That will be the second time this year I have bought terrible catfish peppersoup from this restaurant. I wouldn’t recommend for anyone. And I will never patronise the restaurant again.

Grilled fish tasted nice. But received a different one from what I ordered. Don’t know if it was an mistake though, ordered a Mackerel and got a Tilapia instead.

Please tell me why it took them over 2 hours to deliver my food? Customer service is nonexistent. How can a restaurant be rude over the phone when you call to ask why your order is late. This restaurant should NEVER be in business. Take them off here immediately!!!

The jollof rice was really delicious but the turkey a little bit salty .I’ve not tried my oha soup but judging by the jollof rice I’m sure it will be great. I am only dissatisfied with the delivery as it took real long the delivery rider was really apologetic and nice so I know the customer service of this place will be great. It was my first time ordering and I’d definitely be coming back.

A lovely African restaurant that offers all varieties of Nigerian meals and soups. They also offer take out services, and you can call in to book your order. Did I also add that their food is very tasty and delicious like home prepared in the home?!! Will definitely be visiting again whenever I am in Leeds. Cons: The staff could do more with a little training. The way they speak and serve customers can be awful atimes.
