Hatties Kitchen serves nice food for a garden centre. The carvery is generally good and the place always has a nice atmosphere as it's often busy. The format is pay at the till with table service. The scampi and chips were great but the kids sausages were a little over done on our last visit. Staff are friendly

Not sure what's happened to this place, but service gone badly downhill. Four members of staff around but only one seemed to be serving customers. Service was unfriendly almost verging on rude. Coffees were mediocre...we had a flayt white and cappacino and neither had the milk frothed properly. Limited choice of cakes and food. Staff wandering around doing various jobs when we were drinking our coffee all looked downright miserable so guessing the management culture in there is poor. Wouldn't return there again!

Had a delicious coffee we were going to have cake but I don't like cakes in open counters where others can touch prefer being served by staff (just my opinion) so we had toasted current t.cakes which were very nice. Lovely cafe and has a designated dog friendly area which is a plus for us.

The food has gone downhill since the recent refurb, whereas the prices have risen significantly and you can only get sandwiches after 2:30pm. The self service hot drinks were terrible... Two hot drinks from a machine, a piece of cake and three custard creams for £15. Such a shame.

Disgraceful, I visited with my family 3/11 we had 2 crispy chicken burgers, 2 hot Carvery baps and chips, 3 small diet colas and a bottle of water - £59.10!!! I thought that was bad then the food turned up, piled onto tiny plates, no garnish and everything was Luke warm. The carvery consisted of two thinner than thin slices of meat, not sure what it was think it was beef, my Mums came, just an empty bread bun!!! Everything was laughable apart from the price. Please don’t waste your money, there is a Wetherspoons just up the road!!!

Pie of the day was steak and vegetable. Tasty enough but with a watery gravy. Accompanying vegetables were dire. Roast potatoes you could barely chew, plain cabbage, and a dish consisting of undercooked cauliflower with overcooked broccoli in cheese sauce. This is poor quality fare for a hefty price in comparison with other carvery style establishments that regularly replace vegetables before they have gone stale.

the food wasn’t worth the price, I got the Junior Fish and Chips. My food had hair in, the chips were cold and the fish felt like it was microwaved. The only reason part that saved it was the kind service and positive atmosphere, Overall i wouldn’t recommend eating here, The food is too expensive for what you get

Lovely. Clean and friendly, food is nicely prepared but nothing dazzling. Standard cafe style, sandwiches-soup-a roast dinner choice, few cakes and buns but in fairness it was midweek when I went so don't know if the choice is different at weekends. The atmosphere was OK but not many people about anyway. Tables were cleared and cleaned as soon as they were vacated.

We visited today at 11.45am and had meat pie, chips and peas and jacket potato with salad. The food would be absolutely reasonable for 60% of the price. £23 + for what we had was definitely overpriced, never mind the overheads etc. The food was distinctly average: the pie crust was somewhat burned and generally the taste was unexceptional. The jacket potato was small and the cheese served in a dish was of the "bought already grated" type: come on, are you too lazy to grate the cheese?! Our feelings were shared by the couple next to us, who were both eating fish and chips. I wouldn't recommend this place and it's unfortunate that some of the quality of the previous establishment has disappeared. Next time, it's coffee only!

Never seen the café so busy! Had a vegetable soup. Very disappointing; watery and lacking flavour. Made me think of soup that, rightly or wrongly, is seen to be served up in institutions. Followed up with a scone. Very large, but too crumbly and not keen on the vanilla flavour within. Needed more jam than the one packet. The latte was fine. Service was good and a pleasant buzz about the place. I would stick to a toasted tea cake in future (sold out on this day)!

Undercooked, cold food. One of the worst breakfasts I have had. Most of the food is kept in warmers, that do not keep the food hot. The mushrooms were barely cooked, as we're the sausages. The beans were cold. I had this breakfast and a coffee.....£11:60. The chef needs to up his game, and freshly prepare orders. I left the breakfast, and gave feedback to staff. I wouldn't recommend this place, and won't return.

Breakfast only gets more average here... generic mass-market sausages, budget supermarket sliced bread, slivers of mushroom and curiously, if you want a protein-rich start to the day, even on the 'large' breakfast you only get one fried egg while the 'scrambled' version is clearly considerably more than that. Price-wise we're hovering in a bracket where, give or take a quid or two, you can reasonably expect a pretty excellent breakfast in a venue that doesn't make it's money on garden furniture and all things green and leafy. Hawthorne Farm, for example, offer the same level of 'generic' foodstuffs but at a lower price in 'buffet' quantities. Moss&Moor in Ilkley have a higher price point but some seriously tasty tucker. The Caring For Life Farm has a very worthwhile breakfast offering, as does the little roadside cafe just outside Pool in Wharfedale on the road to Harrogate. Lots of opportunity to really up the game a notch, but leaves the sense that as long as the regulars are satisfied, it's job done. And I could understand that... if the price was low enough to anticipate averageness.

Today my daughter took my mum (recently widowed) out for dinner, with our two year old granddaughter., to the restaurant. Mum's first visit without dad. The ladies chose their preferred food and beverages, and my daughter also bought chips (something the waitress questioned fit for her little), and drink for our grand daughter. Waiting for the food our granddaughter became fractious - so, my daughter took a packet of Skips from her bag, and gave her a couple. Within seconds the afore mentioned waitress marched over to demand the money for the packet of Skips that she said my daughter had not paid for, so my daughter explained. To which the waitress replied that food could not be brought onto the premises, and eaten in the restaurant. If my daughter had intended to bring her own food into the restaurant to eat she would hardly have paid for food and a drink! On putting the Skips away my grand daughter was then in tears... which in turn upset my mum, and the whole experience for mum who is finding issues with her confidence a complete disaster. The waitresses attitude was not only accusing but also hostile, belittling my daughter in front of other diners. We have frequently dined in the restaurant and have come across this particular waitress , and her judgemental attitude before - but, safe to say we will not be back.
