Excellent fish & chips, so nice we had them twice last week when visiting the area. The local chippy’s near our stay in Hemsby Scratby & Newport were all closed, I would definitely come back to Ryan’s Fish & Chips on our next visit. Ring the number to pre order and they’ll be ready when you get there.

Went in for fish an chips x 3 on 5th May 2023 at 5pm. Empty shop. Staff standing around but couldn't possibly serve me for an hour. Absolute joke. Went to Doggers Pkaice instead 10/10 and very polite..unlike the miserable staff in Ryan's...never again

Really good fish and chips. The batter so light and crispy and the cod was lovely The chips were salt and vinegared perfectly Wish we lived closer one of the best I have had in a while

I had what is probably the nicest tasting haddock I have had and my family also thought their meals were excellent. Highly recommended and great customer service. Everything is cooked to order so whilst I had to wait 15/20 minutes, that was not a problem and the food was well worth the small wait. I saw that some nights there was a queue so it may be worth putting in a telephone order.

Fresh haddock cooked to perfection, lovely chips. Always a lovely experience at Ryan’s. Thank you for another awesome supper.

We have been many times before never less than first class service food always first class atitude staff first class. What more can I say. Keep it up others strive to catch your tail.

The product is perfectly adequate. Decent fish although the chips could be improved upon. The real development area of this business is delivering a service to meet customers needs and expectations. Very limited opening times are of course acceptable and subject to an owner's choice; providing unexplainable hurdles to feeding people during them is not however a clever business model. Picture a premises with multiple staff and plentiful product on warming and you would expect an evening meal. Perhaps even a 'good evening and a smile!'. If that's your expectation this is not the place to visit. Is this the Fawlty Towers of Norfolk? I only wanted a sausage and chips on this visit; both were easily at hand I suspect. In the current climate flexibility is not a USP; it is a necessity given the role and demands of key workers. The good news! Rather than go back home, phone through an order and wait an hour (I'm not kidding!) walk up the road and turn right. 'Brilliant' fish and chips (or sausage!) - worthy of their name! Quality product and excellent service.

Always a superb choice of first class fish. Varies according to availability and cooked fresh to order.

Now rynns.we have aways had first class food nothing less.well done to all staff. Food cooked to requirements as covid bites .difficult times so we have to wait upside food freshly cooked hot tasty.we will be back.yes

Terrible attitude , turned up 8:01 , 1 person behind me in the que counter full of cooked food and the lady said "No we are done for the night " luvley way to treat people who live 100 yards away . Waste of time if your thinking of trying , dont . Stick with what you know . Much friendlier , quicker and consistent fish and chips very close by .

This fish and chip shop is a must to eat from. Clean shop and friendly staff. Only one drawback is it gets very busy and they insist on phone bookings Friday and Saturday nights not good if your a Caister resident!!

Found this shop tonight and went in just before closing time. Lovely friendly staff who were more than happy to serve us despite usually only looking at telephone orders on a Friday night. The fish and chips were cooked fresh and tasted amazing. The batter was incredible and my 12 yr old said they were the best chips ever tasted!! We will definitely be back!!

We have been using Ryan’s Fish and Chips for years, back when it was run by Ryan’s father. The staff are amazing, helpful, calm under pressure and nothing is too much trouble. The fish is always cooked to perfection and the chips are delicious! I’ve seen a couple of reviews here that really don’t reflect the experience we’ve had year after year ...we’re always greeted with a smile and the staff are genuinely friendly. I’ve seen queues out of the door, down the road and still, the service remains friendly and professional. Best chippy in Norfolk!

Strange times as we get time slot order food turn up and go.anyway we not mind the food is still great service good food fresh and hot. Ot

4 x cod and 2 x chips for my family (2 adults and 2 teenagers). There were just enough chips for my hungry family. The cod was delicious. The batter was magical !! Phoning your order ahead was a must as the fish shop is making lots of changes to ensure that customers nd staff are safe during covid. Polite staff. Clean shop. Well priced. A short walk from the fish shop, next to the life boat station there are some benches to enjoy your fish supper.

Had fish and chips and I haven’t tasted batter that good in I don’t know when , superb!!! Will most definitely return. The staff were very friendly

Best fish n chips for miles! Fresh local fish, tried the cod, whitebait & skate. Excellent batter & not too greasy. Great chips. Delicious food, big portions. Social distancing very reassuring & well-organized. Telephone orders only on Friday & Saturday evening, they give you a time & food is ready to eat in the beach only 2 mins walk away. Will be back soon.

We have visited this fish and chip shop Many times before as we live in caister.the food is of a superior quality,as covid is progressing Ryan's shop moves with the tasting times..Marked to obey gov requirements.we had time slot and food ready fresh hot tasty.thank you for reopening. I was in Yarmouth for a week in February for work - decided to treat myself to a fish'n'chip supper one day and found this place on Trip Advisor. I wasn't disappointed!Service was friendly. Price reasonable. Fish great - cooked with skin on, perfect batter, nice moist flesh, not too greasy. Chips were amazing - possibly the best I've had from a chippy.While I love fish'n'chips, I rarely eat it these days due to the calories, but this time I couldn't resist, I went back 2 days later for seconds!!Highly recommended!

Awesome massive Fish and Chips, beautiful fresh cod and chips made from potato’s not those awful frozen par fry things. Would eat there again, without hesitation.

Wanted quick tea. We often visit Ryan's fish shop.never have we had first class food so no need to worry about quality.I had plaice for a change very tasty freshly cooked and hot. Wife had cod very large portions.staff polite eager to serve.will we go back,asap ha ha.well done to all.

Recently moved to Yarmouth and someone recommended Ryans chippy, 3 mile drive for us from home, but, wow, was it worth it, absolutely brilliant food, cooked fresh, fish gorgous, chips gorgous, girl who served us bubbly and sweet, that is definitely our local now for fish n chips, 5 star!!!!

Nothing has changed since the last time we came here two years ago. The staff are rude and show no appreciation for the tourist trade. I do like that they show loyalty to their regular customers but as a example one of our party ordered Rock in advance and when they went to collect it was told that they had given it away to a regular customer, and they even laughed when they said it! Terrible customer service!The food here is very greasy and unappetising. Some of our party refused to have food here went elsewhere!

Just turned up fresh food cooked while you wait.no waiting plenty to choose from happy staff.will we go back yes in couple of weeks.

Really great quality food and very reasonable price. We got 3 regular cod and 2 large chips (large could feed 3!) and peas, it came to £19. The chips were great but the fish was amazing, very light bater and very, very fresh fish. Delicious!

Wife walked to shop. I had unbattered sausage 2fish cakes freshly cooked lovely.wife had cod and chips (new potatoes).all freshly cooked, all very tasty.please keep up the good work.best fish shop in area.will we go back yes of course.

Chip shop did seem organised and well run upon entry. However the jumbo battered sausage was hardly any bigger than the normal sausage and the batter was soggy, not crisp at all. The portion size of the chips was appalling as there was just over a handful there which for the price just wasn’t wort it as they also did not seem fresh. All in all a bad experience at this chippy, will not be using again!

Always use this chip shop best in Caister by far Fish cooked to order and all delicious..... Spotlessly clean place.

We had tea late so ordered fish on phone then walked round picked them up all freshly cooked. First class service first class fish.keep up the good work ryan.will we go again yes of corse.

We stayed at the haven site for a week we had fish and chips twice in that week it was so good, beautiful fresh fish light and crispy batter, you can tell the owner has a passion for what he does, keep up the good work and we will be back

We were staying in Caister last week, and went to Ryans place. What a great find, orders cooked to order and really great fish.

A wide variety of fish to choose from and really tasty, fresh non greasy chips. Stayed traditional with cod which had a batter with a crispy bite. Provided with napkins and little wooden forks to takeaway from friendly fryers. Walked a few paces to enjoy our delicious treat close to the lifeboat station overlooking the bracing seashore.

In my opinion this is the best chippy in Caister - My digestive system is really sensitive to greasy or oily foods, which would normally mean no F&C;'s - well, that problem is not an issue here - food is always well cooked, and no instance of food being soaked in oil - Batter is nice and crisp with the fish inside being well cooked....Love the Haddock too !

Busy fish and chip shop. Specials fish blackboard saying what was frying. We had skate - delicious accompanied with very good quality chips. Nice to see all paper wrappings and carriers bags.

Popped in with only £20 in our pocket. Walked away with so much food and change to spare! Kids all had chips and fish nuggets, saveloy and some white bate for myself. We sat eating these watching the sun go down on the sea wall. Highly recommend. Friendly and helpful. Thanks again.

Hadn’t visited this fish shop for many years and was amazed to find it still going after all this time.

Well worth the extra mile and drive to get these yummy fish n chips etc..not often you see someone who can actually cook a decent bit of fish and batter! Finger lickin good!

We visited this fish and chip shop with 2 adults and 5 children Ryan and his staff were friendly, helpful and professional. The establishment was clean and the fish was amazing! Lots of choice of different types of fish and of course battered sausages

First impressions... Absolutely gorgeous food stacked neatly in a clean cabinet The batter was gold and crisp and the fish was good perfectly the chips weren’t to greasy and all in all I would give it 10/10 definitely worth every penny!

We came across this little chippy whilst trying to find the car park at Caister. As it was lunchtime we didn't want too much so just opted for chips/curry and my Partner had a meat pie. Best chips and curry I have ever had - if passing this way would definitely love to try their fish.

Our holiday let hostess advised us of this place in Caister on sea. It was amazing. The cod and large chips fed two hungry adults and it was amazing! £7.30 and I mean it was huge! Excellent customer services by the polite young gentleman and our till server. Great job x we will be back

We popped by here for tea on a Saturday night whilst on a long weekend. After reading reviews it had a lot to live up to but did not disappoint. Friendly and efficient staff, cheap prices, everything cooked to perfection and huge portions. As an added bonus we sat on the table outside to eat our food fresh and wasn’t bothered by any seagulls! Recommended to anyone in the area.

We were looking after someones child this night. Can we have fish &chips; for tea she asked yes, so my wife & little one went to shop, fresh cooked f&chips; always excellent. Thank you to all. I think the name has changed to ryanns fish &chips.no; change on quality.

I find it very old fashioned and dated that a fish and chip shop closes at 7.30pm in the week. This dates back to days when fish and chips opened for a few hours lunchtime and a few hours teatime. Remember the "Frying Tonight" signs we used to see. In todays modern age people eat fish and chips anytime so they could easily stay open until 10pm and do good trade.

We got a takeaway from her whilst on a recent holiday in Great Yarmouth and all thoroughly enjoyed our food. The cod was delicious and had a beautiful batter, all food was cooked fresh to order. If you are on holiday in the area I would recommend you try this place!!

Well wot can I say first class fish &chips; as I come expect from this plaice ha ha.Ryan has taken the rains well done ure fish is in my opinion the best for miles. Our friends make a point to have fish&chips; every time they come from there home as f&c; at there home town no match. Well done Ryan and all ure staff.will we go back yes and soon.

I've been twice this week and I've got to say it's been very nice. Asked for two large haddocks lightly battered, and that's what I got. Chips were nice and dry not greasy. Price was good, everything fresh and very hot...

Now been renamed Ryan's standards still as good must recommend the lemon sole and fish cakes chips are delicious As we were on holiday we wanted a couple of potatoes for jackets being cheeky we asked if we could buy a couple of spuds off...

Well we waited for tea ages in the long queue. But the fish and chips were well werth waiting for.please try this shop.i do not have anything to do with shop ,just hope this helps you.

First night in Caister and we visited the local shop. Very busy shop and there was a bit of a wait. The fish was cooked to perfection but the chips were awful. Pale, greasy and insipid unfortunately. Will try again and hopefully it will be better.

This is obviously a very busy place and does really well and perhaps looking at the reviews we just had a bad night!

Fantástica de peces, choic optamos por Rock como sacado de mi infancia. . increíble. Pescado fresco, inusual cocinado a la perfección, luz y suaves sin grasa pasta o sogginess. No puedo esperar para otras vacaciones para comer allí Caister!

Ahora bajo un nombre diferente, pero sigue siendo tan bueno si no mejor que nunca antes. Lo pondré de esta manera, al visitar Great Yarmouth siempre son un punto de venir aquí para el pescado y patatas fritas en vez de en la mar. No hay absolutamente ninguna comparación cuando se trata de gustos. El pescado es siempre fresco y sabroso, masa para las patatas fritas son patatas que hace una gran diferencia. Además, el personal es muy amable! Un verdadero tesoro escondido.

Consistently exceptional fish and chips. Ryan not only cooks to perfection, but gets in fish you rarely see elsewhere. Yes you can still have plaice, cod etc, but here's your chance for mullet, red snapper etc. Whatever you choose, it is tasty beyond belief. And they get the chips just right. Would not go anywhere else. Super friendly staff too.

They've changed the name but the standards are still high! Read reviews and were keen to try them, and it was just as good as others had said. Spanking fresh fish, lovely, non greasy batter and wonderfully friendly and helpful staff. What a treat!I would particularly recommend the snapper, though all the fish is fresh and delicious!

The food from this chip shop (my local chippy) is always very good and from that point of view I don't think I've ever been disappointed. The shop has recently been redecorated and the fantastic Christmas window display helped create a welcoming atmosphere. The only disappointment is that the staff have a habit of entering into friendly chit chat with people they seem to know really well. It would be nice as a regular customer to be included in some way (even if it was just to talk about the weather). Food, value for money, decor and presentation is great and that is why I return again and again!

Have eaten here many times over the last 8 years and it never fails to deliver.Now named Ryan's after the son who has been running the place during this time. He knows what I like so I let him choose which fish is best for me that day. He will make fritters if you ask him nicely and it's not busy. They are amazing.So the premises has recently been freshened up and looks great but importantly with no change at the helm of this gem. Locals who know get their food here.Not usually open Sunday to Tuesday this time of year.

First time on holiday in the area, the service was excellent very friendly and professional. The fish was shown before battered and was beautifully cooked not greasy, the batter wasnt hard and the fish itself was tender and tasted so fresh. Highly recommended for any fish and chip lovers!

We looked up on google for a descent fish and chip shop and this one was supposed to be the best we ordered cod and chips and skate and chips and 2 mushy peas got them home which is a 2 minute walk cod and chips was very greasy and oil running out the skate all over the chips the mushy peas tasted vile I think we will give them a miss next time sorry

As Caister local this is by far the best chip shop for miles.Friday evening 6 of us ordered both cod and haddock at 7.45. nipped for a pint and picked up our takeaway at 8.00. Absolutely wonderful cannot express how delicious they were.

I was on holiday in the area and fancied fish and chips with my husband .we typed in our satnav fish and chips in the area and directed us to this business.what a find!!.we both had fish and chips which were freshly cooked and so tasty especially the fish.when in the area again I have no hesitation on visiting.keep up the good work.x

Im a regualr here and the fish and chips are definetly the best around. Staff are all polite and friendly & prices are very reasonable.

The fish was fresh,battered and fried upon ordering it, chips were perfect just how chippy chips used to be years ago, cannot fault the service very friendly and the price for what you get is spot on, we shall definitely be going there again before our holiday ends. Five star to these guys

The only things you need to know about this takeaway shop is that it serves the best fish & chips for miles around and although not the cheapest in the village it's the best value for money.Oh. And the staff are unfailingly cheerful. And efficient, even when they are busy (which is most of the time). And they take telephone orders for collection, which is a good idea since parking is limited and the pub opposite also has limited parking.Oh. And they have a hot cabinet but rarely seem to use it except to keep part-orders hot while the other items are being cooked. Most fish is freshly cooked to order and they usually have extra large fish if you ask. The skate is excellent. They have sole sometimes too.Did I mention that it serves the best fish and chips for miles around?

There seems to be a plethora of fish and chip shops in Caister, this one is a hidden gem. Their website says that their fish is line caught by a local family, so if you buy your fish and chips here you are truly supporting the locals. The cod that I ordered was cooked fresh and was a generous helping, the batter was light and tasty and it was easy to tell that the fish was good and fresh as it was light and with a subtle taste. I saw another review that said that the fish still had skin on it... As far as I am aware unless it's a fish finger fish will always have skin on one side as it helps to keep the fillet together...Anyway, if you eat here you will not be disappointed, support your local chippy, even if you are on holiday.

Three families got take out fish and chips with us. I've never seen such a choice of different fish at a takeaway before. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was lovely. What more could you want?

This is our regular stop for the best fish and chips every time, when we visit our caravan at Elm Beach Caravan Park, throughout the year. Cooked to order, friendly service. Haddock, skate and cod all great, chips good too. Highly recommended. What more can I say!

We decided to visit as we where staying locally at eastern beach caravan park, we loved the fish and chips great service and great taste would highly recommend if in the area.

Had some of the best fish and chips we've ever had from here I had the skate which was superb, prices were fine .Will definitely use here again when in caister.
