Joy King Takeaway in North Tyneside

Chinese? Egg fried rice tasteless chicken curry hmmm not what you would expect. Filled a hole won’t go back. Disappointed ☹️

This is our regular Chinese takeaway in Ivybridge - been using it quite happily for many years. Nothing outstanding but good honest food and above average service and value. Tonight we entertained a neighbour who has previously only bought from Golden Bridge. For interest I checked JK reviews and was astonished to see so many poisonous (and frankly libelous) entries from customers who "usually go to the Golden Bridge " but for some reason "wanted a Chinese on the night they were closed" and decided to trash JK. My neighbour now actually says he prefers JK but that's not the point - don't expect fine dining but don't believe blatant misinformation!

Absolute dog shit food and service

First time visiting Joy King (I usually go Golden Bridge down the road which is excellent! But unfortunately it was closed being a Tuesday) Safe to say I won’t be buying food from Joy King again! The food was cold and tasteless, like it had been headed up from the weekends leftovers. Really disappointed, when you pay for food you expect it to at least be fresh and hot.

Food is absolutely disgusting will never be order from here again and have reported them

Tough tasteless sweet and sour king prawn. Sweet and sour chicken tasteless and tough too. Special rice tasteless and meat chewy. Last week's chips reheated. Gross!! Joy King never been the best but gone right down the pan

Had a take away last night and it's was disgusting and we threw half of it away. It put me of Chinese. I don't normally do bad reviews and joy king used to be nice but that was terrible. Over cooked apart from the duck which was horrendous. Small portions and tasteless. I would have took it back if I hadn't been working 12 hours. Hopefully they get better but we won't be trying it for a while

I ordered over the phone, service was sufficient and quick. However, noodles were tasteless with a lack of meat, I had ordered chefs special chowmein. Chicken balls were lumps of tough slimey battered mush Prawn toast was quite possibly the worst I’ve ever had, rock hard, greasy and inedible. Won’t be using joy king again …

Not sure what has changed but the food has nose dived. Stripped ribs in a tasteless gloop, you’d have to gnaw off any meat like a starved caveman to get anything. Other dishes just had a chilli sauce added to get any flavour even when it was meant to be a non spicy dish and was also burnt flavoured, shredded chicken was big tough strips of plastic…the whole thing was inedible.

Love the thin prawn crackers and the noodles. Also the curry sauce is lovely but a little to hot for me . Egg fried rice can sometimes be a bit mushy but has improved. Really nice people who have worked hard there for years

This is the best Chinese takeway in Devon, recommend!

Tastless food, small portions. Not nice at all. It completely lacks flavour.

The food from this establishment is next level 3rd world. I'm genuinely astonished this place has managed to stay open. If it wasn't for the fact the other Chinese in ivybridge wasn't open we never would have ordered. I genuinely question where these get their ingredients from because an icelands microwave meal would of been better. Do not order from these lot!!!

The best Chinese takeaway in the town I have always had my meals from joy king great food and prices friendly staff food is ready for collection on the given time No complaints about any meals I have had from here

Overall food was amazing I got 2 sprung rolls and a chicken chow mein and they were both amazing chicken was on point but the persina t the front desk could've abit more enthusiastic apart from that everything was amazing

We got 2 sweet and sour with chicken balls and 1 rice. Cash only and the food was terrible I would have got better if I had bought a cheap supermarket meal

What meat was in there was very very fatty. The 1 prawn tasted vile and I had to spit out. Luke warm. Don’t recommend

Cold food. Stale prawn crackers. Re fried chicken in the chicken balls. Sauce pots tiny. The noodles tasted like shoe laces on the special chow mien and was cold. Won’t be ordering again. Was a waste of £25

The whole food was discusting disgrace I phoned up and a lady was rude not verry nice warning don't go there wasting your money go down bottom one on right

Great service, great food, great prices

Our favourite local Chinese Takeaway, very rarely disappointed with the food we buy from there. We can recommend the foo yeung dishes, and the crispy fried chicken dishes.

You usually get speedy delivery times, even at weekends and always lovely food. Ate from here on several occasions and never disapointed
