Superb meal and wine, steaks and seafood , but also gluten free options. Excellent service. Very popular

The Ceviche specials and Brigadeiros truffles stole the show, but we felt that the sharing platters were not as strong as Jorges reputation for excellence. The wine list remains bold as ever and the service is thoughtful. I'm not sure that the new menu format suits this restaurant as it feels more formulaic and much less charming, but in the wake of covid it can be appreciated that independent restaurants like Jorges must work ten times as hard as before. The work will pay off and it's good to see that full tables outside are growing in number too. The best things come to those that bless themselves with patience and I'd certainly go back in a few months to see how things are progressing. That wine list though. That could be a dangerous lost evening!

Have lived in Norwich for several years and this is now my favorite spot in town! The picanha was so so good. We’ll be back soon.

Food and service were fabulous thank you. We had the fried squid and chorizo for starters followed by steak with chips. Not easy to book a table. Need to book early.

Hard to find a place with such good seafood and the portuguese Gin is also excellent.

Great dinner there. Had a voucher so probably spent a little more than normally would have. Had steak to share between two and was all cooked perfectly. Desert also fantastic. Voucher had expired 2 week early but having rang before hand they were good about letting us use it. (There was the restriction of using it not on a Fri or Sat but we were fine with that). 2nd time going and would certainly go back. Service was excellent.

Found this place when searching for tapas! When we got seated and looked at the menu, we realised it wasn't Tapas but decided to stay and give it a try even though we were concerned about the cost. The waitresses were attentive and friendly, the guy who we assume is the owner wasn't at all hospitable. We ordered 2 steaks and a few sides. The steaks were not at all what we expected.......£33 each, very thin and not big. They tasted ok, but nothing special. The sides were ok, the roasted veg was good. A final bill of over £100, we felt robbed in all honesty. Definitely would not return and wouldn't recommend.

Delicious food in a small restaurant. Very attentive staff.

We took our parents here every time they visited Norwich. Even I tried to bring them to different new places over the years, Jorge’s still remains as their most favourite restaurant. This place sometimes got very busy, sometimes a bit more relaxed, but either way the quality of food and service are always at such a high standard and consistency, not even once we were let down. This is just amazing. Seafood and fish Cataplana is our all time favourite. Simple and delicious, very heart warming in the winter. The new black bean rice on the menu (served along side with pork) is also very nice which added a more diverse flavour profile to the meal mainly consists of seafood and meat grill. They are expanding their desserts menu too. Pao of cheese with cheese ice cream is a must try, very nice balanced sweet and savoury from the smooth ice cream and fluffy cake. Selection of wines is nice. Vibrant and joyful. Just like their services. We just feel happy every time we see the staff. Thank you for bringing such great experiences to us!

Had a wonderful anniversary lunch yesterday. Chose a steak with a selection of tapas and the quality of the food was superb! We have wanted to eat at Jorges for ages and it didn’t disappoint! We will be coming back for sure!

We went for my birthday and was better than the first time. The platter of steak, pork, chicken wings and sausage was amazing followed by a beautiful creme brulee. Still a perfect little place for amazing Portuguese food 🌟

What an amazing restaurant! We were warmly welcomed and really looked after. The menu is extensive and our host explained the options, it was hard to choose what to have. They were also understanding of my need for gluten free food. A truly authentic Portuguese menu. Everything was delicious, and I'd definitely come back. We booked originally as a table for 2, ended up with 7 of us and they were so accommodating with fitting us in. Thank you.

As a Portuguese customer I am very disappointed at the quality of food that we’ve been served. I ordered carne porco Alentejano and the sauce was very watery (which it shouldn’t) the king size prawns where burnt and they tasted burnt. The portion size and the quality was appalling and there isn’t much room in the restaurant. There was very limited Portuguese main dishes and it wasn’t authentic. With all that being said the prices unfortunately do not match the quality of the cuisine.

Food & service were amazing. We sat outside under the arches and it was the perfect date night spot. Everything was full of flavour and delicious.

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner here. The food was excellent, a good choice of wines and a very relaxed atmosphere. Staff were more than happy to explain anything we didn’t understand and were very knowledgeable about the food they were serving.

Nice little restaurant. Portion sizes are not the biggest. Staff are friendly but very busy. If you've an issue with your food you need make sure you tell them as they didn't ask if our food was okay. Quality of meat is good but they are very generous with salt. Too much for my taste but might be okay for others. Wines are good.

After vowing never to eat in motorway services again, we booked this meal as a stop off on our way home from the Norfolk Coast. This is exactly the reason why. The food was all absolutely delicious. The service was friendly and attentive. It's a little place with a relaxed atmosphere. Our children (6 and 8) were the only children in there but I'd recommend it for kids. The staff were lovely with them and they loved the food. They picked the prawns as their favourite tapas choice but ate a bit of everything we chose. The pork ribs and cured meats and beef croquettes were all memorable too but it was all delicious! Also.....the desserts were amazing! We are two sweet tooths and 2 not so much. We had the chocolate mousse (best chocolate mousse ever!), the custard tart (polished off by my son who had originally declared he was full) and the almond tart with lavender ice cream. I'm one of the sweet tooths. The almond tart was not overly sweet and made me feel like a grown-up as a result. It reminded me a little of peanut brittle, but won't break you teeth. And my husband (who had a double expresso instead of dessert) happily mineswept whatever he was allowed. We basked in the glory of our excellent decision for the following 3 hour drive home.

Amazing food, best steak I've ever had!

The food here is truly amazing, and the passion of this initimate little restaurant comes through as soon as you step through the door. However, the portions are not overly large, so (for the fish dish) order a side. My partner had the T Bone steak and said it was the best he has ever had. Lovely service staff, so knowledgeable and polite. Lovely restaurant, hoping to go back in June for the tasting menu.

Absolutely delighted to have found this wonderful restaurant. Food was delicious and the waitresses were so helpful and knowledgeable about their menu and wines. As soon as we walked in I knew we had chosen well. Great atmosphere, service and most importantly the food. What a great experience, felt like I was in central London pre pandemic. Our waitress suggested the number of small plates each. A varied choice. They also offer a regular unch menu. The owner was very visible and our waitress 10/10. Just need another excuse to visit!

Really love this place. The food is excellent, lovely atmosphere and the staff are fab. We always feel really well looked after without feeling pestered and I feel that's a really delicate balance that they always get right. The creme brulee was particularly good

Fantastic birthday meal with my family.The produce used is of the very highest quality and this makes it stand out from other restaurants. The tuna cervice was fresh and flavoursome, pork and clam main cooked to perfection and the pastel de nate was as good as any we've had in Portugal. Cannot fault.Thank you

Early evening meal with my wife. To start we had sea bass ceviche and also girolle mushroom both were delicious. Then shared a platter of prawns, steak, pork , sausage . The platter was all cooked very nicely . We will return it was lovely and service was excellent.

How good to find a ‘themed’ city centre restaurant that is not out of a corporate packet! I’m not Portuguese or Brazilian but the food, the wine, the staff are all quietly ‘authentic’. It makes an ideal spot either for lunch or dinner - for couples, small groups and comfortable for solo diners. Space is limited and so it would seem advisable to book. (Personally, I’d enjoy more bread served with the ameijoas to mop up all the tasty sauce).

Lovely food, quiet atmosphere, good helpful service. The service charge is already added which is 12.5 per cent so be aware of this. Apart from that, was a lovely dining experience. We had black Iberian pork and the steak. Both meals were delicious and we finished off with the Portuguese custard tart and an apperitif,all of which were lovely.

The food was fantastic and the servers were knowledgeable and courteous. The Portuguese wine was a revelation - smooth and delicious. Care is taken over each dish including the sides. The Iberico pork was something I would definitely come back for.

Beautiful food in a very well presented little restaurant , in the centre of Norwich. The owner served us, very friendly, anticipated our needs ahead of us, exceptional. It’s so nice to have a owner who cares and appears to breath his restaurant. As a hotelier I admired your crockery 😀

Had a seafood platter and a couple tapas’ with my family. High quality seafood and very well layered taste. Would recommend this restaurant for family dinners or even a date.

My favourite restaurant in Norwich by a landslide. Never disappointed, although gutted the prawn bisque wasn’t on the menu this time.

This little gem was a recommendation from a friend who had visited once before and came with me on this occasion too. What a find. I love that it is hidden away, a small welcoming space but so central. It was ideal for a long lunch after some Christmas shopping and the food was excellent. I am lucky to have spent some time in northern Portugal and being able to sample the food closer to home was a great pleasure. The presentation was great an dthe staff friendly and helpful at all stages. This is now firmly on my list as a go to place when I visit Norwich.

The place is very cosy but unfortunately we find it very cold, you will need to have a light jacket on you to enjoy the food. The starters (prawns, octopus and pork) was very nice. Unfortunately our main dishes (we took the share plate with the wagyu) were burned and raw at the same time. We asked it for medium rare and came burned rare. The deserts was really nice though. Unfortunately with 1 glass of wine each we were pay around at £200 and i was hungry when i finish my meal. I will give another chance because i saw a lot of opportunities in the dishes.

My family and I visited here, due to Ciscoes deciding our booking wasn't good enough (see my review on that restaurant). On arrival we were shown to a table in this lovely little restaurant. A small restaurant, but space well used and tables well spread out. We were given the menus, explained how they work, and there was 1 option missing, but there was still plenty of choice. We didn't have starters, so all ordered different mains. We were supplied with complimentary olives and bread. They were really good and a sign of things to come. All our food came out with our sides, we were also supplied with spare plates as two of us had seafood with shells and this little touch is sometimes forgotten. We were also supposed with little hand wipes, again due to the shells, something that just adds a little detail. The food was amazing, none of us found any fault and it was absolutely delicious. You can tell the ingredients is of a high standard and cooked by people who know what they are doing. Two of us had dessert, again one replacement but the replacement was outstanding. The service was great, very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Don't miss out, try this place. Better than a lot of places I've eaten in.

We visited yesterday evening, the restaurant is at the entrance to a little courtyard and is nice a perfect setting. The staff were very friendly and as for the food wow. I started with octopus then we shared a platter of meat (iberico pork, beef, chicken) and opted for some prawns on the side and a salad. The food was all beautifully cooked with a great selection of wines for pairing. The meat was so tender it just melted in the mouth. Didn’t really have room for dessert but I couldn’t say no and went for the Almond tart with lavender ice cream. The dessert was unbelievably good and I highly recommend it. The tart was so light and tasted great, especially with the lavender of the ice cream. We will definitely will make the journey back.

Booked for my birthday with my partner. Really enjoyed our food. I just didn't know it was tapas night on Tuesdays as I was looking forward to having the lobster I seen on the photos. Will return again on a Saturday hopefully it will be more seafood 😌 We had clams, pork and mushrooms for the starters. Sweet potato fries were delicious

Always enjoyed Jorges, we’ve been many times and fair to say one of our favourites in Norwich. Unfortunately our last trip there was well below par. Service poor, Iberican Meat Board unappealing and rather bland, 6 olives is never enough, but unfortunately the fillets for the meat course had not been properly rested and resulted in a more than acceptable amount of blood/juices on the plate. Waitresses seemed less than interested. On a positive note the Monte Capela 2020 - Alfrocheiro was not only delicious but excellent value at £40!

Nothing we ordered today was anything less than first class - from tapas dishes to a quite wonderful rump steak - just delicious. We were served by two waitresses who were happy and very helpful. So glad we managed to finally get to Jorge’s - we will go back

Had dinner here twice in the last month, once as a larger group and as a couple. The food and service was exceptional both times. Great choice of wine and recommendations from waiting staff who were very attentive on both visits. Their Black pork and Wagyu steak is a must.

It was a good experience at Jorge’s. The service was decent and the food had a decent amount of flavour. My tiger prawn was charred on the outside tho so kinda gave the dish a coaly taste. My friends also seemed to enjoy their steak and pork dishes. The best part of our meal were the desserts. It was a decent experience, nothing over the top or spectacular.

Service by Jorge (the owner) and ?his daughter was welcoming and swift. I had black Iberian pork cuts, tender, juicy and quite delicious. The pasteles de nata were quite superb. There was a very good selection of wine by the glass. I shall be back whenever I come to Norwich!

Wow this place just gets better every time we visit. Prossibly more known for its small plates and seafood (which are absolutely amazing) I was blown away with the quality of steak on last visit. Service is great, wine recommendations spot on and food as always amazing. On a previous visit I had octopus and it was the first time I'd ever eaten and enjoyed it. With 2 small kids we don't get out in the evenings often but Jorge's is definitely there as the lunchtime restaurant of choice for us. Cannot recommend enough!

What a great evening. Excellent food, good wine and superb atmosphere. We have been wanting to visit for a while and were not disappointed. We followed the recommendations of our friendly and knowledgeable waitress. She even suggested a cheaper wine to the one we had chosen and were impressed with every aspect of the meal. It is certainly worth a visit if you enjoy Southern European food but do book as it is a small restaurant.

I loved their tapas, I tried pork ribs chargrilled and pica pau. Good quality tasty food. I don't recommend if you wanna experience a nice ambience. This is a very small restaurant, hardly 5 tables. Also please check the time before you plan because they are not open whole day.

I saw the reviews so i decided to try it. It was perfect, salad of the day, and the flavor of tiger prawns is THE BEST. The cream burelé, i would be back for it. The service was Excellent. I will be back

It was steak and tapas night so thought we would give it a try. Staff were welcoming and friendly and there was a lovely atmosphere. Unfortunately the food was disappointing. My starter was tiny for almost £7 and was very bland. I then had a sirloin steak which was cooked as I asked but very fatty and a bit gristly. I think I got 3 mouthfuls of actual steak. The waitress also said the peppercorn sauce was spicy and it was the blandest and oddest colour peppercorn sauce I’ve ever had! I also asked for mayo for my sweet potato fries which I’m still waiting for 🤣. We did have the chocolate mousse for pudding which was good and made up for it otherwise I’d have left feeling very hungry.

Wonderful atmosphere, perfect for a small gatherings or date night! Wonderful authentic food. The arroz de marisco, brought me memories of my childhood. Jorge and staff were approachable and kind, great recommendations on the wine section and desserts. Have already recommended it to friends! Will be back!

Really lovely little restaurant, we both had 3 courses including vegetarian options. The vegetarian choice was limited but they are adding to the menu but what is already available is lovely. Great service also.

This authentic Portuguese restaurant has a pleasant interior, and some outside seating. We chose from a small plates menu for lunch, and all of the dishes were delicious. We washed it down with an excellent Portuguese wine that was recommended to us by the front of house staff. Good food and service we would definitely visit again.

We went for a lunch and were blown away with the quality of the service, quality and food. There were 4 of us and we had a mixture of tapas dishes and all were truly fantastic, I would personally recommend then beef croquettes and the octopus. Then we got to desert and had something not on menu a traditional Portuguese sponge desert. Wow something we had never had before and was amazing. But what made the whole experience were the people, we were so well looked after we will definitely be going back and of course recommending to others

A wonderful addition to the Norwich restaurant scene, Jorge’s showcases the best of Portuguese cuisine. The menu is a combination of meat and seafood. Great ingredients beautifully cooked makes for a terrific lunch or dinner. Highly recommended.

Serene atmosphere with calm music. Staff have good and polite dining etiquette. Tasty food, dessert menu looked pricy but items looked appealing. Were thankfully offered vegetarian alternative for traditional meat/pork Portuguese dish.

After spending hours researching restaurants in Norwich, we decided on Jorge’s for a birthday meal based on their reviews and menu. The restaurant itself is lovely, nice ambience etc. The staff were lovely, helpful and friendly. However, we were really disappointed with our meal. We went for the surf and turf steak meal with a large prawn to share at £82. The prawn was average, didn’t taste of a great deal and was quite tough. The steak came blue, which we are fine with, it was not medium rare as described. Unfortunately the steak didn’t have much taste and had so many chewy bits of gristle that it wasn’t enjoyable. We were asked how our meal was after about one mouthful, at which point we said it was nice. When they came to clear the table we fed back on how we found it and they reduced our bill by £10, plus the service charge. We did leave disappointed after having such high expectations. We opted for Jorge’s as we thought it would be amazing, but sadly it wasn’t. We have had sharing steaks at other restaurants before and they have been far tastier, sadly. We didn’t opt for a dessert based on our main and had a toastie when we got home, as we were had so little to eat.

A splendid Portuguese tapas restaurant. Tucked off a main street it is pleasantly atmospheric in a traditional way. The food was all excellent, well priced, with a wine list offering, as you might expect, good native wines (Portuguese wines are so good these days). Service was good. Highly recommended.

We had an amazing meal at Jorge's . Not only was the food served of the highest quality, but the staff and ambience made everything perfect. Very knowledgable about all the ingredients as one of our diners has Coeliac Disease.

We had an evening tapas at Jorges and the quality was excellent. The oxtail croquettes were a stand out but we thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes. The only problem was the skewers looked equally as good, maybe next time.

Wonderful meal today. We had a selection of delicious tapas meals - sardines, king prawns, mushrooms, fishcakes and pork ribs. All freshly made and so tasty. A real treat. Service excellent too. Highly recommend.

I came here for lunch with two friends. We each chose 3 items from the tapas menu, had some bread and olives, and a steak which they sliced in a way that we could share. Everything was fantastic. The wild mushrooms were my personal highlight....

Had a pre-theatre meal here - what a fantastic little restaurant! Lovely setting and great staff, but the menu is the real star here - top quality ingredients, authentic and varied choices and well paired wines. All three courses were interesting, different and hugely enjoyable....
