Jolpai in Birmingham

My first visit this evening, food was beautiful .will definitely return !

Last order from Jolpai tonight. Been a regular customer for 2 years. Would order at least couple times a month. The food has always been 'good' and had an edge over other Indian takeaway nearby, enough to make up for the crappy customer service. From the delivery guy that used to complain on arrival my place was too far, despite me living 8 min away. Your boss doesn't think it's too far when he takes my money and accepts my order? Speak to him if you dont like coming here, not the paying customer. How unprofessional and rude. To the guys on the phone that always sound like you're doing them an inconvenience by making an order and asking for simple tweaks to the meal like add a bit of extra heat to my massala, oh but we must charge you extra for this. Youre already charging a premium over competitors nearby (whom never ask u to pay extra if you want more heat in your meal) I ask for 'finely chopped' fresh green chilli in my bryani, they just throw whole soggy oily green chilli's and they can't be bothered to take 5 seconds to finely chop them. Then as they putting phone down you can catch the odd insult in urdu. And today the quality of food finally (and inevitably) plummeted to match the crap customer service, all dishes swimming in oil and grease (including rice), onion bhajis not even cooked (cold) whole green chilli's thrown in AGAIN after asking for them finely chopped. Some weird soggy horrible looking date type things in my bryani. Went in the bin. Bye bye jolpai. Just look how old and dated the decor is inside the restaurant, amount of money these guys have made since they last decorated (about 30 years ago by looks of it) and they don't want to invest anything on a refurb? Just shows these these guys do not care about the customer experience they just want your money. Avoid

We go here often.staff are always polite and food is lovely. Never had a bad meal here

Great dishes, great prices, take your own alcoholic drinks

Oh boy oh boy oh boy. We usually dine in here and generally we’re satisfied. However, we decided to order a takeaway for delivery. We ordered at 7.50 and the food arrived at 9.37. The food was cold. Anyway we dished it up and had to pop it in the microwave. Butter chicken was dreadful, lamb balti was dark brown and horrible tasting. Naan breads were just like then rubbery frozen ones you get from Costcutter. The whole thing was bad. Bye bye Jolpai

Lovely meal staff friendly and helpful

Fresh, delicious, relaxed atmosphere and you can take your own drink in. What more do you need 👌. If your in stechford check it out. Boss man sorted me and my daughter free poppadoms n sauces. Great service

All eight on our table really enjoyed our meals. The staff have changed since last here - excellent pleasant waiters , great service and delicious food at extremely affordable prices. Really good evening.

Cracking curry , very consistent, chicken always soft and succulent, BYO is a massive win also. Been coming for 8 years now most Fridays , better than 99% of curry houses around area including Sheldon

Fantastic food and service lovely setting

The staff were very friendly, however not so much the food. I had a chicken tikka Balti which was clearly not made from fresh ingredients as it tasted very powdery, I've actually made better out of a jar!! The Nan bread was very doughy not freshly made and couldn't taste any garlic on it which i had ordered. We also had chips which i instantly recognised as oven chips. overall disappointing. I wont be returning

We booked a table for 45 people on a Sunday night and everything the staff and management did was totally utterly perfect. They grafted to get the food out to us and make sure we were all catered for. As for the food, the chef(s) deserve a 5 star on its own. The food was piping hot, tasty and fresh and to be honest, one of the best Indian curries I've had in ages. Starters were perfect, mains were perfect. Some of the party had desert who said they enjoyed them. I was to full to eat anymore but that's not a complaint. If I could give them 6 stars I would. Totally recommend this place and we'll definitely use it again. Get yourselves down here for the ultimate Indian dining experience. Thank you guys at the Jolpai.

Amazing food at fair prices pleasure to eat there if I’m honest

I’m a bloke that tells it how it is ! - the food at Jolpai is nothing short of “amazing”’- I work away from Birmingham but the “first” place I head for when I’m home is Jolpai ! - eat in or home delivery - the food is just “exceptional” (and believe me - I’m very critical and won’t tolerate poor service or anything sub-standard) ! - the other “plus” is that you can take in your own beer and wine - (there’s an outlet just 2 doors away - you can get anything you want there to take into the restaurant - and there will be now extra / hidden charges if you do ! Staff here at Jolpai are so committed and just want you to have a good night and good experience with “excellent” food ! - give it a try - you won’t regret it !

Absolutely love Jolpai. I have been to many places to eat and by far this is the best for taste. They give you loads of food and the price is unbeatable. Additionally, the staff are the most kindest and respectful people you will meet. Fab for a takeaway and dine in, either way you will get plenty of mouth watering food with friendly and fast service.

I have been ordering delivery from this restaurant for nearly half a month now and the food and service is so excellent and efficient. Every time I get a delivery the guys who give me my food always show good manners and respect. The food is perfectly well spiced, flavourful and tasty. I would deffo recommend

Best Asian restaurant in Birmingham!

I like that they play traditional music, rather than modern. Restaurant not too busy, although it was a Tuesday evening. Their chicken korma rates up there with the best I've had.

Lovely food, great unlicensed restaurant

Been here a few times now and the food is always good. Fair pricing and there is always plenty on the plate. It's clean and tidy and probably best to book an advance at peak times due to its popularity.

Just had one off the best currys I have had for a long. Had it delivered and food was piping hot amazing flavour chicken balti was amazing and my partner had king prawn and also very hot and very nice . Will definitely be a regular there now

Weekend at belfry golf stayed at station in over road the area is rough as toast but the food in here is spot on madras was lovely service spot on dont service alcohol so bought some next door.

Great curry been eating their for 6 years, moved 3.2 miles away been ok for 2 years but the last 2 weeks have decided I'm too far away to deliver by 0.2 miles shocking for me, apparently drivers aren't available all of a sudden would of paid a touch extra for the delivery no problem.

Great food , eaten their for 6 years, had delivery since moving for 2 years but decided. 0.2 miles is too far all of a sudden, must of got busy and don't appreciate repeat custom any longer

Excellent food.21 for dinner tonight. Staff all pleasant,helpful and polite. Had to wait awhile for main course but we were a large group and all tables were taken. Would recommend it for a real good place to eat.

Great food it's a shame it's got expensive everything has gone up my Jalfrezi now £7.95 from £5.95 cutting down now to one a month normally spend about £16 now £22🙄

Ordered Chicken and Mushroom balti, Mushroom fried rice, naan bread. The naan and rice were excellent. The curry was OK. A little over spiced and heavy on the coriander (even for me, I love the stuff). Delivery was quoted as 45m and came within 35m so top marks there. Would definitely give them another go, but probably for another dish as I wasn't that impressed with the balti.

10/10 the best, wouldn’t go elsewhere Never had a issue, I have tried a lot off the menu & have been happy with everything. customer service is 10/10 also. Delivery & dine in. Fresh hot & full of flavour

Went there with my sister who knows the place. Super food, good prices and friendly service. I had a korma and it was delicious. Great nan bread also. No alcohol, you can take your own. But a very nice experience it is was. Recommended.

Pleasantly surprised. Halal establishment on my doorstep. Great service and value. Only one minor complaint food wasn't spicy enough for my pallette but I guess I could have requested it to be hot.

The food was amazing with a nice selection of different dishes. The staff were really friendly and helpful. They only sell soft drinks but you can take your own wine or beers to drink in there at no extra charge. This is the first time we have been there and if we lived in that area we would be going there as often as we could. Price was very reasonable as well less than £25 for two meals and one dessert. l highly recommend this restaurant.

First time using here and won't be the last. The food was very good although the sagwala was a bit too spicy for my wife.

Absolutely delicious! We were in the area for just one evening and came across Jolpai by luck. It was the best curry we’d all had in a long time. The staff were so attentive even though they were very busy. As a vegan I’m always a bit sceptical at eating out but they were so helpful and accommodating. Cannot fault a thing!

This is the last time I will be eating anything from the Jolpai (Stetchford, Birmingham). I ordered Shish Kebab main meal (not the starter) it came with a small bag of salad, 5 small shish Kebabs and a extra small raiti/sauce. The Shish Kebabs were really salty and fell apart each time I put my fork In to them. A complete waste of money. Hubby had Lamb balti and enjoyed it. We didn’t eat in. He collected our meal.

Food was bland tasteless and cold even though it was delivered early i used to order from here a few years ago and it was amazeing what i got delivered was shocking the rogan josh was more oh my gosh bland hardly any lamb and greasy my lamb chops was as tough as mike tyson the chips soggy and barely cooked the only decent thing was the free salad i was given deffo wont be ordering from here again

Disappointed with all meals and starter. Madras meals mediocre not up to usual standards. Neither was balti. Starter wasn’t anything like pakora just tasted like normal battered fish. Certainly not what we’re used to from restaurant

Really nice food, came nice and hot. When you order you get popadoms and salad and a green sauce for free which is all very nice. Would definitely order from here again. I recommend their bhuna because it was so good.

We ordered takeaway and had a problem with the food. So we rang them back only to have received horrible and disgusting costumer service, very rude and direct with answers. They even said we don't need to order from here if we don’t like it and he won’t do anything to amend their mistakes. Food was also terrible but that’s ok. Once in a while it can go wrong but no excuses to treat costumers this way. I would not be going here again and I wouldn’t recommend anyone to go to this place aswell.

Had a delivery, the food was nasty, onion salad was literally onions ONLY! Ordered chicken tikka biryani, the chicken was raw and was not cooked properly. Food was less than it should be, really less papadoms, when we called up the waiter on the phone was rude and had no manners. Diabolical customer service. Would never ever go there again wont recommend anyone either.

Always amazing food from jolpai, great naan bread as usual... Tried several around me and this is by far the best, never let's me down.

Been the jolpai to eat in the restaurant food lovely at restaurant but absolutely vile delivered. Chips were cold and rubbery, poppadoms were stale. Food wasn’t very hot and chicken wings on mixed starter was under cooked. Not cheap so expect a higher standard, food was half an hour late which is not a problem if hot and worth waiting for. It is the bank holiday so expect it to be busy. Won’t be ordering again.
