Maybe not every dish is the same as in Taiwan. The braised chicken drumstick bento is OK. Others contain hot soy milk. It would be even more perfect if there is sugar-free soy milk.

It was our first time here and everything that we tried was great and tasty. 😊 I would recommend and favourite were the chicken Omurice, the honey tea and the 3 cup Squid.

Extremely disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. The waitress was incredibly impolite and barely acknowledged us. She didn’t smile once and seemed uninterested in serving customers. While the food was okay, the lack of basic courtesy ruined the entire meal. I won’t be returning.

Braised pork rice, Popcora chicken in peppery salt, and Lemon Aiyu jelly bubbles are all delicious, especially the Braised pork rice with its accompanying Dongpo pork - a classic Taiwanese flavor I’ve missed As for a must-order Taiwanese dish, beef noodle, this one uses beef brisket instead of shank, and the broth is a lighter version. Those who prefer a richer broth might find this one a bit mild.

Incredible food at an amazing price. We had the beef skewers, Korean fried chicken, the Japanese beef bowl and the three cup squid. All of it was cooked to perfection and filled with so much flavour - even the side of fried rice was extremely tasty. Portions are very generous too. The menu has a large vegetarian section and a decent range of drinks.

Yummy! ! ! Fried chicken skin, fried chicken, ice flower fried dumplings are very crispy, danzi noodles, oyster omelette, oyster noodles are very filling and rich, and finally the matcha red bean steamed buns are delicious, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and there are many Taiwanese drinks that are outstanding. Will invite friends to eat again!

The best restaurant in china town! Service is always warm and welcoming, the atmosphere is fun and casual and the food is always a 10/10. Must try - Sweet Potato’s with Plum seasoning and their iced teas Favourites - Any Korean Fried Chicken & Braised Tofu Will need to try the cocktails sometime 👀

Saladas were really good but the beef meat was overcooked.

Remember to check the bill everytime as we've been to there several times but the bills are always wrong with some extra charge.

The place is so dirty but the food is ok.

Need to wait 30 mins and you will get a perfect Raw meat. Salty soup, give up walk away.

We were a table of 9 and the food came out in good timing. Staff were fantastic and served us with a smile 😊 food were delicious I recommend everything. The starters were decent size and the mains were big! The mixed grill is a deffo, please go for it!!! If you think the mix grill is too big then go for the beef short rib only. It was cooked to perfection 😍😍. We enjoyed the sesame salads and wasabi okra salad. I enjoyed the miso seafood udon as well it was creamy and had decent amount of prawns and squid😍 Honestly, we ordered so much I am in food coma while writing this 😂

It's really delicious! The dishes in the blind spot are all delicious, the fried chicken!!!!!!!!! But I don’t know if it’s because the store is too busy or because other people’s attitude towards us is not very good🥲 There is one missing dish that is still missing. answer

This is my second time to visit and try the authentic Taiwan and Japan / Korea cuisine. To be honest, I got some trachea discomfort. However, waiter and waitresses ( boy speak mandarin, girl speak Cantonese), they are super nice and proactive if there is any need during the meal. Of course the smile and CS skill is quite good standard. For the food, they are in good standards and you will want to try them next time . Yummy The music and atmosphere is also fantastic You can soaked into the chilled and relax feeling very easily. I like this restaurant and would highly recommend to people who will visit Birmingham China Town. Hope next time I can visit again when I go to Birmingham ♥️ Appreciate all the staff hard work .💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻👍

Fabulous place to eat and spend good time on Birmingham's map. Food was super tasty (great Tofu!), so many interesting options to chose, big portions and super nice service. We were welcomed and served by Jaconda(I'm really sorry if I spell it wrong xx): outstanding, super warm and very very helpfull. Me and my friends will definitelly come back! 👍

*Update* The shop owner could not accept the comments and instead verbally attacked fellow Taiwanese. As a Taiwanese, they are definitely insulting Taiwanese cuisine. This is the worst Taiwanese cuisine I have ever had. You can come to try if you wish to waste money.

We went for dinner because we used to see the place always full and we were not disappointed. The food was very tasty, the service was very good with the girl being very friendly and making good recommendations. The price was less than we expected to spend and we ate to our heart's content. Excellent place, we will definitely be back.

I really found it interesting. First of all, I politely asked if the roast beef in the barbecue could not be chewed. He said that he could only re-roast it for us once, so I agreed. Then when it was served the second time, it was re-roasted a little bit. There were no traces of it. When I asked the waiter again, they would only tell me that the meat was like this. After we expressed that we did not accept this explanation, they started to ignore us and did not even apologize. During this period, we wanted to talk to the manager of the restaurant. Communicated but a person who looked like he was not the manager also said the same thing and said I was very busy and had to go serve other people. It was really interesting to me. Never come again! There is not a single meat in this dish to eat, but we wanted to refund but were rejected. As consumers, I am very angry, not only because of the quality of the dishes, but also because of their service attitude!!

A disaster of a BBQ platter ruined any good impression and we won't be going back next time. The restaurant manager's apathetic attitude in the face of customer complaints, choosing not to deal with the problem, and this poor crisis communications and treatment of customers are reasons why I would not recommend this to anyone. Unless you enjoy the poor service!

I went there mostly every week after I finished work during the weekend. They have varying Asian cuisine food such as Taiwanese food, Korean food and Japanese food. Moreover, the price is very friendly for students as well.

Fantastic service with good recommendations, food is different in a good way.

Was served by Jacarenda (apologies for poor spelling). We had beef noodles and chicken and curry. We also tried takoyaki and chicken skins for starters. Really yummy food, very light. Sometimes it can be acquired taste but these flavours were yummy even if you’re not used to Asian foods. Service was excellent, came to check on us and have a chat and even asked if we were happy to use chopsticks.

A new style of eating for me. Supremely tasty. Food as hot as Hades (temperature-wise).

Sorry forgot to take photos. Food and service are good. I can’t see any staffing attitude problem. But I dislike the strong oil smell. I think they need to improve the ventilation. Moreover, the tables are sticky.

I'm visiting Taiwan soon, was in Birmingham and asked Google for a reccomendation... "There's a Taiwanese restaurant 200m ahead". Though the place was busy (18:00 Tuesday), I was instantly welcomed, advice in choosing from the extensive menu given and service was swift, with a smile. I had the braised beef w/noodles - very tasty sauce, and Winter Melon Punch - a first for me - again very tasty. This solo visitor was properly looked after and I can't understand the negative comments about the staff given in some other reviews. Prices were reasonable. The only downside for me was the choice of music - then I must have been more than twice the age of most of the other diners - so I guess it's a generational thing. I'll be back.

The waitress wearing glasses had a bad attitude and looked impatient. I didn’t expect to get very good service, but at least I didn’t expect a rude waiter to take my order. After I finished ordering, I no longer wanted to eat in this restaurant. After ordering, I asked the waiter to pour two glasses of water. The waiter told me that there were no glasses. ok fine A restaurant has no cups. Ten or twenty minutes after I placed my order, the waiter told me that the dish I ordered was no longer available. He had already waited for so long before he told me that it was not available. At that time, there were only three tables of customers in the store. After the dish is served, the rice is soft and there are only three to five pieces of meat. You can experience it for yourself.

As soon as I entered, I was already smelling strong oil fumes... No pork, no beef noodles, no barley, basically five kinds of wild food, I want to try two of them... The taro milk tea is very chemical, but the waiters are polite. Within ten minutes after eating, I was already going to go to bed... I had a little stomachache...

I was worried about the service level after reading the online reviews, but when I came here I found that there was no problem at all, the attitude and the speed of serving food were both very good. The taste is very Taiwanese, and you can taste the care put into it. But the seasoning is overall on the salty side (maybe because I have a light mouth). The menu is so thick that you have to decide on a theme before deciding what to order. The portion size is bigger than expected. All in all, I highly recommend giving it a try. It’s good as an izakaya or a Taiwanese snack bar, but it’s best to book a table in advance.

First time trying them, service was good, food wise it’s was okay, standard meal, was thinking to order the beef noodle but sold out! The drink was not good at all, the soya drink literally tasted like water, not a bit of soya taste in it! Might not return!

Really good experience here loved the sake, seafood pancake or omelette wasnt to my liking though but great staff and great food made up for it!

Bad service. My son needs a cup of water to take the medicine, the waitress replied impolitly that they don't have any cup for me and neglected my further question. I complained and they explained because of too busy today, I don't think it is resonable to be treated in such manor.

我感覺不是很正宗，真的是台灣人開的麼？而且怎麼會有做成居酒屋的台灣餐廳。蚵仔煎裡面的生蠔不新鮮，腥味很重，我猜測冷藏了很久。以及這個不叫滷肉飯，叫控肉飯，中國的朋友不要上當了。滷肉飯是小顆粒的肉哦。豆腐還挺好吃的。總體我覺得食物和價格不是很對得上，如果他更便宜，我會選擇來這間店

The food is not very good. The service attitude is really bad. Especially the waitress. When she asked for a bowl, she said there was no bowl, but she still asked a waiter for it. It will take a long time to serve the food. Waiters discriminate against mainlanders. There are two attitudes towards mainlanders and others.

Food is fine, with variety choices of well-made and authentic Chinese dishes. However, as many mentioned in other comments, we were quite confused about the attitude and service offered by the staff. They just kept us waiting for nothing when there were still plenty of vacant tables.

God I cannot recommend this place enough, the portion sizes, the pricing and good lord the flavours, all 10/10. If you like Japanese/Taiwanese food you will not be disappointed

Finally visited this place ! I always wanted to to here ! Nice friendly staff and food came out quite quickly to be honest ! Lots of variety of dishes that I want to try out !!! In the end , me and my friend shared the following: - Taiwanese teriyaki Rice Ball seasoned with Furikake and seaweed | 老台風味飯糰 x 2 - Oyster Mix Seafood Pancake | 蚵仔海鮮煎 - Taiwanese Fried Chicken Cutlet on the bone with Japanese Curry on Rice | 台式炸雞排咖喱飯 Would def come back here and try out the other dishes !!!

Formosa izakaya is the best Thai place in Birmingham. It is delicious, affordable, and has good portion sizes. If you are looking for somewhere to eat try it.

Disappointing service... The food was very slow and I felt ignored. Even requests for an extra set of cutlery (cus we wanna share) could not be fulfilled. But, the waitress was much nicer to my friend, which made me wonder if it was the accent that made the difference.......

服務態度和味道越來越不如從前了耶。 第一次來吃的時候是去年，有被驚艷到，真的很好吃。 後來會經常推薦朋友一起來。 後來發現，服務態度越來越差。 最近的一次去吃，味道超鹹我的天。 我們點了三杯雞和蚵仔煎，我和朋友都吃不下去了，太重了口味。 不知道是不是因為食材不新鮮，用調味料來遮蓋。 這次食物沒有吃完因為味道太重了。。。 而且服務生態度很冷淡，明明店裡沒幾個人，卻不來服務我們，點了喝的很久都沒上來。 。 。 真的很無語，之後應該不會再推薦朋友過來了……如果大家來伯明翰想吃中餐，大家可以去吃中國城的另外幾家粵菜和川菜，都比這裡會好很多喔

Tried this place out today on the way home from work. The interior is nice and the staff are very friendly. The food is incredible and very reasonably priced. I had the pork cutlet curry rice meal and it was fantastic. Highly recommended.

Delicious food, pleasant service, and nice, down to earth atmosphere. Prices are very reasonable and there’s a great selection of dishes, from traditional Taiwanese options, mainland Chinese dishes, and great Japanese options too. Excellent vegetarian and vegan options as well. Highly recommend the three cups chicken, egg fried tofu, gua bao, and the garlic aubergines.

Visited after a show at the Hippodrome, chosen randomly because we liked the look of the menu as we were walking by. Small but very busy, they managed to fit us in and provided excellent service and amazing food. Bit of a hidden gem.

I have Coeliac Disease and as such, Asian cuisine in general is hit or miss with regards to availability. We came here for a birthday and the wonderful waitress told me that nothing was strictly gluten free and couldn't accommodate from the menu. But she had asked the chef if I would like something completely off of the menu. Again, this just doesn't happen, and we eat out a lot! I asked for something rice based with meat, trying to be as simple as possible. The waitress again was so diligent and caring about what I could and couldn't eat and spent a while going back and forth between the kitchen, she is fantastic! The chef then made me (and I apologise for not taking a picture, but I wuffed it down quick!) An incredible rice and fried chicken bowl with a plethora of onion, chilli and other ingredients and it was absolutely delicious! The fact that they didn't do the bare minimum is one thing, but to make me a complicated dish, requiring plenty of separate prep time with separate ingredients has completely humbled me. I did come during lunch time, so I can't imagine they could do this during dinner time, but they have got me for life now! Thank you so much to the lovely staff of Formosa Izakaya! You made me feel normal and not a nuisance!

Ordered braised pork rice, texture was good , but a little bit salty. The stir-fried 3 cup chicken taste is a little bit salty, lack of fragrance as compared to those at Taiwan. The soya drink was great, taste good. The staff were unable to tell which are their best seller and didn't bother to give any other words, instead just standing there looking at us silently. I think as a restaurant staff they should be able to know which are their top seller and keep the conversation with the customer on going. We don't feel the staff friendliness at all. But the other staff are friendly and able to give us some recommendations about the attractions nearby.

食物質素不錯： 點了 滷肉飯、鐵板麵、章魚小丸子、豬腳庫麵線 全部味道不錯（唯獨認為章魚小丸子可以加返啲章魚會更好） 但飲品很令人失望 點了2杯台式飲品，但兩杯都能喝得出是即沖包裝來的，珍珠的口感非常差 另外主要有兩位服務員，一位非常友善 但另一位態度非常惡劣 出菜的速度較慢，但個人認為可接受 特別一提，餐廳通風系統差 完膳後離開，滿身都是難聞的油煙味

If you love Taiwanese food, you have to visit, small shop not many seat. Braised beef noodles taste great, soup is rich, beef tender and soft, a little too heavy for some people, if this is the case, pick thick cut braised pork on rice, another brilliant choice.

之前食過幾次，以價錢計都可接受。但星期六特登帶埋朋友一家去食，真失望。兩點去到滷肉飯話冇，話因為供應商今朝遲咗嚟貨，但等緊上菜期間，新嚟嘅一台客叫又有返😔。上菜上得晚是基本的，最少半個鐘以上。但今次食物質素真係差咗，所有炸嘅食物，都好乾好柴皮。洗手間絕對絕對需要清潔。

作為香港人，我都想比多d分數支持下，但無奈依間野好難食，尤其是紅燒牛肉飯，飯濕到爆，牛肉同個湯底應該係淘寶買返黎的即食包，完全唔係台灣紅燒牛肉飯。 珍珠奶茶d珍珠更加唔掂，應該又係即沖果隻。 果度d員工或老闆都係後生仔女，無經驗，個人明白做生意係要賺錢，但唔好影衰台灣食物及飲品。 最後，四眼高妹態度極其差，黑面又計錯數，需要改善。 利申： 我冇收錢亦冇必要唱衰佢地，但咁做落佢只有死路一條。

I would highly recommend the fried chicken fillet curry rice, the chicken was beautifully succulent and crispy and it was well priced at £9.50. The braised beef noodle soup was lovely, the noodles had a good bouncy texture and the soup was full of flavour. The crispy spare ribs on hot and spicy thin noodles looked very impresive. The dish could have been more spicy, but the soup base flavours came through nicely. The ribs were very large and crispy and went well with the noodles. Another very good value dish. The Dann Zai noodles didn't stand out particularly much, so I would probably not order this next time. Service was very good, fast, friendly and welcoming. Would recommend for a casual quick lunch in town.

Tasty Taiwanese cuisine in a relaxed setting and eclectic decor.

Dining here has always been a great experience. Street or Arcadian carpark nearby. Decor welcoming and trendy, hasn’t changed a lot, colourful with various table heights and seating. Accessible for wheelchairs. definitely recommend calling ahead to reserve. Love how they are constantly making adjustments in the menu. Gives us another reason to return. A Birmingham Izakaya 5* must visit. Come sit amongst friends, drink, and share some sensational food.

Love the oyster noodles. Not much special about skewers and 'Dan Zai' noodles though. May try rice next time. Drinks not cold as it ran out of ice. Not sure if this happens often. Needs improvements on stability of supply.

What a fantastic place! Full of local Asian community, which is always a good sign. Very extensive menu, fast service and marvellous food. I would definitely recommend!

food is interesting. but the whole place is quite stuffy and hot. the bbq/smoke smell is very strong. cant stand it. had to eat and leave immediately.

This used to be one of my favourite places but i haven’t been in a while and after going I’ve realised a lot of things have changed. The food is actually really nice but it used to be better. The takoyaki balls are much smaller than they used to be and the omurice lacked the same flavour. While it is only a small place, having two waitresses on isn’t good enough and as a consequence they rushed us for our orders. The toilet was horrendous and dirty, as if someone had stood on the toilet seats and cobwebs above the sink. I’m really not sure if I’d return.

I’m pretty sure I was charged the wrong amount of money. We ordered braised pork on rice, takoyaki balls, seafood pancake, chicken skewers, steam pork dumplings, three cup chicken, boiled rice, sparking water and peach black tea. Based on the price on their menu, it should sum up to £55-£60. But I was charged £73.48. I asked for receipt but I was only given the bank transfer receipt, not a breakdown of cost. I suggest to ask for the breakdown of the cost!!!

Their service was a total 0, one star because the food was OK. We waited for half an hour and the only thing we got was an appetizer. The guest next door was given the food I had ordered half an hour earlier just as he sat down. If you don't want to serve, you can write that only Hong Kong people can enter. Btw If you are going to improve your service, please start by making your toilets cleaner.

Had the Taiwanese beef noodle and Asahi (Japanese beer). Food was tasty and served in a large portion. You can try typical Taiwanese food here. Also the waitress was friendly and efficient.

真的很生气 520过节是来吃饭的不是来受气的！！ 今天520本想带男朋友去尝一下 因为之前吃除了上菜特别慢以外 口味什么的也都还算不错（只能算不错） 520前一天我们打电话预约，约好了时间大概在6点钟，我们5点50这样子到店门口。进去以后一个男性工作人员看了我们半天，也没有过来接待我们。我们当时就有点无语。 后来他叫了一个女服务员服务我们，女服务员说需要等一会儿，因为要收拾桌子。但是店里还有50%的空座位，我以为是520过节，大家都预约了，所以不能随便坐别的位置，也没说什么。因为520当天忙是很正常。 然后等了5分钟，也没人管我们。后来又有一对客人过来，应该也是情侣。服务生过来问有没有预约，情侣说没有，然后就让他们入座了。? 我们就问为什么我们预约的不能坐，他们就直接walk in了。结果男服务生反过来问我们是不是比他们晚来。我们说没有，然后他语气很不好，迟疑了一下，然后他说 “额……那你们坐这儿吧” 然后给我们随便指了一个位置。 连个道歉也没有，真的不理解为什么直接进入都有位置，预约就不能直接坐，也没有多余的解释。一下子就下头了，本来想开开心心过节，碰到这事儿谁不生气。重点是态度很不好，极其恶劣，把我们扔在门口也不管。是看人服务吗。 之前来吃也是，上菜特别慢，卤肉饭上2个小时上不来，你是从刚种大米开始的吗。 真的下头，无语的要死 避雷吧 真的不想再去一次！！！

我們星期六下午一點半後過去，訂左位，等左5分鐘已經有位，可能因為比較晏，食物好快上枱。點左台灣牛肉麵，妸仔煎,煎餃子等等都好食，份量足夠。香港人靚女員工，內地大學生哥哥員工都十分有禮。會再去呀！

Authentic Japanese/Taiwan skewers, always busy. Best place to go if you not feeling hungry. The only problem is the floor is unexpected wet especially in the toilet area which is quite dangerous.

Delicious food, fantastic service. Oozu our waiter had us all in hysterics and kept us highly entertained, whilst ensuring we had everything we wanted. Very quick and attentive service. Thank you for the perfect end to a lovely day with my parents and friends. I can see why Pete recommended it here. We will be back :)

#等了一个世纪也别想吃上饭；一进门我们问有没有位子，就莫名其妙被凶说让我们去外面等，站着等了10分钟终于有人来收拾桌子了，结果坐下来等了又有20分钟一直没人理我们，直到我们催了三四次才有人来点单。态度最差的是一个圆脸年纪大一点的女服务生，全程脸非常臭，而且中间要求点单的时候她明明看到我们等了很久在眼神示意她，还慢慢悠悠走出去倒垃圾，甚至比我们来的晚的客人都点上了我们还在饿肚子；#手抓饭；终于上菜以后我们向服务员要餐具，又是漫长的等待，然后我去问对方能不能给筷子，对方答复说再给我几分钟，我说不会是正在洗吧，她尴尬地说是的✌🏾；#点什么不上什么；我和朋友点的饮品最后临上桌的时候都告知原材料不够要换，感觉后厨管理很混乱；#厕所很脏且没有纸巾，感觉店里人手非常短缺，蚵仔煎和盐酥鸡说实话味道不差，但是这服务态度真的跟吃了蟑螂一样恶心，伯明翰好吃的中餐厅太多，所以根本不会再来第二次😅

今天到店的时候下午两点出头 点完单后邻里左右几桌比我们晚的都吃上了 以为是甜品手作所以做的时间比较久 等了四十分钟才第一次催了一下 后来上了结果是很普通的炸馒头 到底什么炸馒头值得四十五分钟？等了这么久还不好吃 不过最差的是结账的时候在后厨的短发女生态度真的👎 语气很拽 欠她百八十万的样子 这家店我是不会再来了 做的很过分 真的瞧不起👎

All the dishes we ordered were fresh and very very tasty. The price was also very reasonable, 10/10 I would recommend and will be returning!

Este restaurante Taiwanés, tiene una carta variada de interesantes platos, no solo de la cocina taiwanesa, que pueden gustar a todos. Para comenzar, pedimos para beber unos tés, preparados caseros por ellos, una especie de bubble tea frio, suave y rico. No suele estar disponible siempre, pero merece la pena preguntar por el y probarlo. Pedimos una variedad de sabores que sabíamos que no iban a fallar: pollo y cerdo rebozado, udon, noodles y arroz. Todo estaba muy rico, aunque el cerdo se hizo un poco duro, y para quien no le guste la grasa, puede no agradarle ya que dejan esa pate para que sea mas sabroso. El udon con pollo con la salsa de cacahuete estuvo delicioso, sin duda mi plato favorito. La decoración muy chula, el personal servicial. Lo único que no nos gustó fué el baño, sucio y encharcado, no dió muy mala impresión después del la agradable comida.

Great food and service would definitely visit again next time I'm in Birmingham

Visited this restaurant for lunch. Ordered two drinks, two mains and one snack. The taste is not what I expected as a Taiwan restaurant but still good. I originally planned 1.5 hours in here but eventually we spent 2 hours here, most of the time spent in waiting the food.

Food was amazing But the service was horrible 😁

Food is amazing BUT clean the toilet… it’s disgusting and I was afraid to touch anything to not to get disease.

Many dishes & drinks were not be available, a bit disappointed
