Great Indian, lovely food and very friendly and helpfull. No licence bar but can take own drink and they supply glasses highly recommended.

If I could give this venue 6 stars, I would! The staff were super friendly and very polite! Food is amazing quality and fairly priced! They don't have an alcohol licence but with an off licence opposite we saved a fortune on drinks and the restaurant was happy to supply us ice glasses as needed. Highly recommended!

On a family holiday from the west midlands what a lovely night out and one of the best curries ever lamb taj mahal

Just got a takeaway (hence no mark for atmosphere). Chicken dish, two chilli rating, delicious. Polite service. Didn't have to wait long even though I just walked in off the street.

1st time ordering tonight, absolutely bang on curry rice and keema Nann … will definitely be ordering again

Very pleased with my takeaway which I collected and got 10% off. My fish jalfrezi was perfect with good portions of fish, the sag paneer was nicely sweetened with coconut and the pilau rice was nicely flavoured. I will be going back.

We arrived pretty late (20:00/21:00) and had been the only guests at this moment. The service had been very nice and accommodating. The restaurant looked clean but for some reason we got the only table witch wasn't set even tho every other table had been. The portions had been very small for the price we paid (you need to pay extra for the rice) and the food itself had no other tatse then sweetness. You could literally feel the sugar grains. The saag paneer had also been very very greasy and sweet. So in conclusion we paid around 34 pounds for 2 small dishes we didn't finished bc they didn't taste good, 2 small portions of rice and 2 softdrinks. All in all very disappointing after the good reviews it has on Google.

the absolute worst experience. first impressions, DIRTY. dead flies and muck left all over the windowsills/floors, chef seen going to bathroom and leaving without washing hands, as we ordered they brought out glasses for alcohol that we had to provide ourselves as they have no license. without telling us that they were charging us for using the wine glasses…??? food took over an hour to come out, they claimed they’re busy but there were only few tables in the restaurant, once it did come had to call them back three times for missing dishes, food was cold and extremely basic. service terrible, no check backs or help breaking down the bill which appeared to be just made up as they went along. sat for another over an hour with a dirty table plates not cleared. will NOT be coming back. dirty, overpriced and really nothing special.

It was a great lunch out. Service in the restaurant was great, food was wonderfull and plenty of it. Will be getting back more often! Very good value for money.

The food here is outstanding!. The chicken tikka naga masala is my favourite.

Lamb tikka main looks more like a starter. Lamb dry and over-cooked. Feeling ripped off on quality and quantity.

Very disappointing. Restaurant was freezing cold. Food was poor. And service a little demanding. Plus it was £50 for 2 people, with no starters, only one main, no alcohol (they don’t serve any), and no desserts. Few choices around, but drive on by and keep looking would be our suggestion.

It was our first trip there and it won't be the last. Lovely flavourful food;good prompt attention/service and lovely staff. Only point was we didn't know they don't have an alcohol licence. But you can take your own ...... Next time. The restaurant is spotless and the tables nicely spaced. All in all a great evening.

Absolutely terrible, order over an hour late and cold when it eventually turned up. Complained to the restaurant and was told that they were busy. Well if you’re busy then don’t take my order! They refused to give me my money back or offer any discount as means of an apology.

Food was very nice. They don't sell alcohol and let you bring your own in. Watch out for the £5 corking fee, they don't tell you about until the bill comes.

If you're not a local and in the Harwich area, come to this place for your Indian. Every nice and big portions for a takeaway. If we are ever back in the area we will definitely come back!

Absolutely Brilliant meal, lamb vindaloo and side vegetables. Massive, delicious and well spiced portions, the lamb and sauce were incredible.Best curry in years, and didn't have to wait ages for it!

Advertising a la carte all you can eat buffet Sunday 12 til 2 and then evening. Arrived 1.15 to be told can't have that, it's an old menu! But they are still on the counter and putting them through the door

Lovely food but not happy with a £5 corkage charge when we took cartons of wine. No corkage involved.

Went here with the family. My brother eats here alot. The owner is lovely, very friendly and welcoming, and nothing is too much. The food is hot and plentyful. You can bring your own alcohol. A nice experience

Unfortunately the worst curry I've ever had. Ordered butter chicken and the chicken was cut into strips not diced?? Very bizarre and had absolutely no flavour whatsoever. Literally don't think there was any seasonings and spices at all, just tasted like plain chicken in sauce. Really disappointing

Called in for a meal in the restaurant, food was excellent, service good, please note, the restaurant isn't licensed, but you are very welcome to take your own wine, beer or spirits with you, there is also an off license very close by.

Had a wonderful meal delivered tonight by Joi Tandoori. We had a mixture of curries - Korma, Pathia and Madras - and they were all superb. Would thoroughly recommend as a curry house in the Harwich area.

On holiday at dovercourt holiday park and choose to come here for a meal and what a brillaint choice we made lovely staff, clean and modern restaurant and food was absolutely spot on one of the best indians I ve ever had if your in the area definitely recommended 10/10

Amazing food, great & attentive service, would highly recommend. We chose a large selection of dishes for the banquet menu & every dish was some of the best we've had. All too good to mention, the Lamb Taj Mahal was amazing.

Cancelled order after an hour and a half, twice. Excuse used - couldn't find us, even though they have delivered to us before more than once. Obviously just couldn't be bothered. Absolute joke.

Although it wasn't a cold day I was still not warm so we ordered our takeaway from Joi Tandoori and went back to our room. Deb went out about 20 minutes later to collect it whilst I sorted through the photos. The food was delicious, nicely flavoured and good portions and value for money.

Starter base sauce (chat) too citrus, main sauce (pathia) too sweet and no sour or chilli heat. Service mediocre, restaurant decor tired. Would I go again, no, would I say don't go here, it's up to you!

If you coming through harwich sea port and looking for nice indian, bengali food this might not be a bad option.

Not very good food served very quickly and not even hot. Had been here before some years ago and was good then not now. Won't be going again. The bill was unreadable scrall in spite of us asking for detailed one. Got the impression staff couldn't care less. Well neither can U as regards this place.

The newspaper article framed on the wall calls it a finalist in the best indian restaurants within northern Essex and the quality of food reflects that. Wouldn't be best in the country but its most certainly good enough for a Friday night curry! Staff were polite.

No frills, basic Indian with decor that is looking very tired. Great food at reasonable prices but not exactly a romantic place for a date. Table next to us was of 8 garage mechanics in high spirits - not an intimate venue!

Really excellent food, used to go here 20 years ago when i lived here, and its just as good :-). Service good and friendly polite staff. I would say best in the area.

Everytime we have eaten here the food & service have always been excellent. We have also enjoyed the take away service the Joi offers and would recommend this as well.
