Joes in Cardiff

The staff are so miserable. They work in slow motion making it a ridiculously long wait. Waited 25 minutes to be served despite there only being 10 people in front of us. They need some better management there.

We went to Joe’s on Wednesday and it opened at 11 am. The grandchildren enjoyed their bubble gum children’s portion ice cream and my wife had strawberry and I throughly enjoyed my coconut ice cream. Must admit that I found my ice cream a tiny bit sweeter. Not sure if so much sugar is warranted. The music was blaring inside the parlour so we went outside which in my opinion looked dirty ( not litter ). The whole patio area had lovely slabs but I think they could have done with a bit of sweeping over on the washed over with water. On the whole the place is nice and the staff caring.

The best ice cream! Joes is number 1! Always stop by here after a visit to Roath park or Roath rec.

I come here often with my kids - ice cream is great, reasonably priced. The staff are friendly and it's very pleasant sitting in the small front garden watching the world go by.

I’m absolutely gobsmacked and disgusted at the sight of Joes Ice cream. I took my 3 children too Joes too congratulate them for there SATS results (proud mum lol x) I requested what I thought was a very SIMPLE AND EASY job, 3 tubs of PLAIN VANILLA ICE CREAM. Upon being served by a rude, blonde teenage girl who seemed too think the world revolves around her, I was very dissatisfied with the customer service. When I was served chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla, I politely requested for the vanilla as I asked. This teenage girl rolled her eyes,huffed and puffed and acted over all RUDE. When I received my ice cream, what was at the bottom of the tubs? MAGGOTS. I AM SHOCKED. We loved Joes, however I feel too Ill too ever return. Please sort out your staff and maggot problem.

called in for an ice cream but told no cones ????? An ice cream shop with no ice cream cones ??.??? Not sure why bother if can't run shop properly ? poor in 2021. lazy way to run shop !

Tried ordering birthday ice cream cake, utterly useless and unhelpful, clearly couldn’t be bothered with hassle. Person answered and said would get back to me - apparently forgot. Told me cake would arrive with Mondays delivery - didnt. Really disappointing for a birthday. Try Subzero for a cake I would suggest!

Whilst the vanilla ice cream itself was very good, compared to the joes in Swansea the service was bad. We ordered the 6 scoop tubs and they only put 4 scoops in each. In Swansea they serve luxury chocolate sauce but in Cardiff it was runny sauce you could get from an ice cream van. They also give you two wafers in Swansea and none in Cardiff. Bearing in mind they charge the same for all sauces and toppings you would expect the quality to be the same.

Today my Grandson and myself were out at Roath Park. My Grandson asked if he could have an ice cream. We decided to go to Joe’s. we queued patiently got to the counter and chose our ice creams. My Grandson chose Strawberry and Vanilla. Which was very enjoyable. I chose Rum & Raisen & Kiwi Sorbet. The Rum & Raisen was more like a Slush ice cream nothing like smooth cream. The person behind the counter couldn’t be bothered to change the carton just kept scraping the bottom to get all the ice out. For this privilege I was charged £6.30. Very disappointing. Not enjoyable waste of money over rated ice cream. Save your money go to Tesco and get what you pay for

Lots of flavours and ice cream produced in Wales. Variety of cones and also hot drinks available. Not much seating but we were visiting on a wet day in January so might be more room outside normally.

Visited Joe's with friends and really enjoyed their ice cream but two people from our group had their milkshakes. They were very bad...dont expect them to be as thick as McDonald's milkshakes cos they were nowhere near as nice and for double the price. Tasted like Yazoo and for £2.45 each I think that was a bit steep. Very disappointed with them.

I thought I would treat myself and also a double ice cream in a sugar cone. I was very surprised that I was charged an extra 50p for what was a very cone when in many other places they are either free or the charge is much lower After about two minutes the ice cream started to melt through the cone and by the time I was halfway through the cone collapsed into one big mess which meant I had to throw the whole thing away. I mentioned it to the store next time I visited and my complaint simply fell on deaf ears. That’s customer service for you. Lesson learnt - no more cones from Joe’s.

I love Joes ice cream, so rich and creamy. Stick to vanilla as this where they excel. Beats gelato I’ve eaten in Italy

we called in to get an ice cream in the hot weather the ice cream was ok but I have had better although I must say the staff were very nice

Had a joes ice cream on Penarth pier, it was deliciously smooth and full of flavour! Reasonably priced too!

Originally Joe's icecream could only be bought from the mumbles, however opened in Welfield Rd and goes from strength to strength. This icecream is truely amazing and worth every penny.

Love going to Joes after a long walk around the park. Sit outside and people watch. Their crunchy caramel ice cream with nuts is delicious. A real treat.

Most people in Swansea grew up on Joes ice cream. Now the good people of Cardiff can enjoy this little luxury. Anyone who visits Joes in West Wales will know that the fresh vanilla flavour is the best, give it a go. A true family business and they really care about the ice cream and presentation of their shops.They sell a polystyrene container that means you can get the fresh ice cream over the Severn Bridge to Bristol & Bath - always ask for a spoon in case you get stuck in a traffic jam!

The ice-cream here is really delicious, I love the coffee crunch flavour! And the staff are such lovely people. The prices are really reasonable too. The only thing that disappointed me greatly was that the waffle was smaller than the palm of my hand... like it was really small, to the point where I questioned spending money on it. Don't go there expecting a proper waffle, go there for the delicious ice-cream!

Recently discovered joes. They have a cute store near roath park. Their basic flavours are great and staff are very friendly! A little bit more expensive than usual, but definitely worth it!

Joe's has come to Cardiff! The same mythical ice cream of legends has opened up a store in Cardiff and its well worth the visit. It might seem like a 5 mile hike from the city but your taste buds will thank you for years to come.... stunning ice cream. I've been to many ice cream parlours across the world and Joe's stands out from every single one. It is THE best ice cream. The end.

A lovely local ice cream store. The flavours are excellent and the service great. The shop is clean and has a good atmosphere. There are about a dozen traditional flavours. You can also get tubs to take away from the freezer. Reasonable prices. Perhaps a few more flavours could be good.

We've passed Joe's many times on the bus since we moved to Cardiff and often said that we should go in. Well we did - and it was a real treat. The parlour isn't big but we liked the ambience and style. My wife had a Knickerbocker Glory which she raved about (said it took hr back to childhood memories of the legendary Nardini's in Largs); my Raspberry Crumble was smaller but also delicious. The place was lovely and clean, the service was friendly an efficient. Beware: on sunny weekend afternoons the queue is out of the door with families who have been shopping or to the park across the road!

Joe's is justifiably famous in Wales for producing excellent quality ice cream. It's made the traditional way, rather than combining vegetable fats with lots of air, which is commonplace now for mass-produced ice creams. If you want the true, authentic experience, go for the vanilla ice cream, which is the only ice cream made on the premises. My friend and I however couldn't resist having a sundae.

A trip to Swansea wasn't complete unless to took a visit to Joe's. Undoubtedly the best ice cream in the whole of Wales. When they came to Cardiff, not so long ago we started visiting here. Although much smaller premises staff give 100% friendly & efficient service. If you never tried Joe's ice cream your missing out big time....even for a tea time treat open till 8 in the evening. And if you've tried the stuff in tubs this is freshly made and is totally different. A must at the end of a visit to Barry Island !!!

I grew up with Joes in Swansea. I love it. The whole family loves it. There are some downsides. I have no idea why they have moved to include flavoured ice creams. They are not Joes. If you go you must just have the parlour vanilla. I love the raspberry sauce and the chocolate marshmallow. The second is that there is too little seating area in the parlour. The St Helen's store and Mumbles store are much better. You visit Joes in all weather and being outside freezing cold is not enjoyable. Staff always friendly. Did I say how much I love the parlour vanilla?

This is a great place to chill out in the hot summer months. It has a good seating area outside where you can people watch ( weather permitting). It is a great place to take the grandkids.

I first enjoyed Joe's ice cream when I lived in Swansea as a student. The vanilla ice cream is the best in this country, bar none. Get yourself there and enjoy a caramel sundae.

The whole extended family are fans of Joe's ice-cream. We were regular visitors to the Swansea branches growing up and are ecstatic that there is now a branch in Cardiff. Friendly staff.

Just make it cheaper and this will be the best desert place in the city. I love ice cream in all forms, but Joe's is the best hands down. Love it!

Visited here as a birthday treat, we both chose the chocolate but sundae which was delicious! Heapings of Nutella alongside the very tasty vanilla that Joe's is known for. Will be back!

Pleasant visit with friends & their young children. The staff were very helpful & patient. The selection of icecream was excellent.

The ice cream here is always yummy, with one try of options in terms of flavours, cones and toppings. I recommend the chocolate, it might seem boring but is super tasty!

Love love love joes ice cream. Great we now have one in Cardiff saves the drive to Swansea . Not good for the waist line .

Visited with my daughter as she has wanted to try for months. She noticed the board advertising the £4.95 meal deal last week so decided to give it a try. Meal deal consist of a drink, panini and an ice cream. Coffee was good, the panini was good, although we had to wait ages for them both even though there were only two other people in there! An apology for the wait was given to us however. My daughter enjoyed the coffee ice cream and I opted for the raspberry sorbet, to be honest I was not that impressed with mine, it tasted a bit fake. Suppose it was good value, though there are better deals to be had elsewhere. Have tasted better ice cream too. Sorry :{

Having grown up with joes in Swansea it's great to see it branch out to cardiff where I now live. There was only one flavour originally but now there's lots of choice. It's only a small unit in cardiff and not as comfortable as the Swansea stores. The only real bug bear is the greed in pricing is 50p for a tiny bit of sauce on a single scoop of kids ice cream and 30p for a card transaction is particularly annoying as it costs the business less than 2p to process so it's just pure profit. Come on joes this is 2016 and we are nearly a cashless society!!! Coffee nut sundaes are still great though

Was expecting a greater selection of ice cream flavours to choose from! However...mint choc chip and banoffee flavours are delightful!

Joes is an ice cream parlour born in Swansea and having a great reputation for quality ice cream, the Swansea shops are always busy. We visited the Cardiff branch today, there were no customers in the shop and no staff visible, we thought it was closed however the door opened when we tried it and then a staff member appeared. No welcome, little apparent interest in serving us and no smiles. Ate our ice creams, I'm sure they are the same quality but the atmosphere spoils the flavour. On leaving staff did not even acknowledge us. Come on Joes, this parlour needs sorting out fast.
