This was our second visit to Joel's, the first time was a year ago. The first visit to Joel's was brilliant, we loved it so much we couldn't wait to return. I'm sad to say that this time wasn't like our previous visit. We'd booked our table for 8:15pm, finding the restaurant was really busy. We were sat in the window which was great but we found that our table was really sticky, despite being set out ready for us. There was a table of about 18 people, which appeared to take the restaurant by surprise as the staff were already apologising for upcoming delays when we were seated. We both ordered the Half Rack of ribs, which came out really well presented. Unfortunately, I found that the ribs were tasteless, despite having BBQ sauce on them. I ended up asking for more BBQ sauce to put on the ribs to make them tastier. Shame really because we really enjoyed our first visit.

Omg amazing! Sunday lunch. Lamb shanks. Absolutely spectacular. Amazing meat and veg. Even the gravy was the best I’ve ever had. Will definitely be going again.

booked a meal for a birthday treat. never been here before and had heard the food was amazing. As an experience I have given a 3 but it could have easily been a 5 or a 1. the big thing that I feel let the experience down was service for me personally it was far too familiar and lax. The manager/owner was the only one working tending all the tables whilst 2 younger members of team were just on their phones behind the bar until I mentioned it and the manager went to have a word. took 15 mins to get drinks, however they were given to us as an apology for waiting. We had starters which was a Wild Mushrooms on ciabatta with rocket and a calamari both of which were beautiful Mains were a Joel's burger and a Fillet Rossini both again were spot on, very well presented and the quality of the fillet steak was top notch. The bar downstairs unfortunately had Karaoke of some description which drowned out any atmosphere in the restaurant as there is no separation from downstairs, I think a couple of doors would help this out. Probably wouldn't go again to be honest but if you are thinking of going just make sure there isn't karaoke on downstairs.

We looked forward to this visit. I think we expected alot ore than we actually got. Service was lacking albeit they very busy but we didn't feel that we were welcome as custoers. Food was okay without being wonderful. Not sure the prices reflect any sort of value.

A massive thank you to Joel’s! I booked last minute for my husbands birthday for a table of 12. (6 adults and 6 children) and they kindly managed to squeeze us in. We all ordered different things, some tapas, some from the a la carte and some kids meals. The food was delicious and piping hot. They brought the kids food out first and they got our order spot on. I couldn’t find anyone to thank on the way out as they were all so busy- so thank you for accommodating us at such short notice and thank you for delicious food, we will definitely be returning.

We went as a family and wow the food and service were amazing. I can recommend the rib of beef it’s to die for. Finished with the biscoff sundae and full to bursting. Amazing

We normally come here for breakfast as a family a few times a year. We come back because it’s a lovely atmosphere, lovely food and lovely coffee. My additional needs child is normally adamant that he needs to get an apple from here (given the name he expects there to be lots of apples to buy and eat!)🍏 His eyes lit up and he was so happily surprised when an apple came beautifully presented to him by a waitress on a plate of its own! I was really taken aback by the thoughtfulness of the staff here and how they made it a special thing for him, thank you so much.

Me & my mum stopped off here for haddock & chips for our tea. It was delicious - great value, with good size portions and proper home made mushy peas.

Just visited this lovely looking pub for a bite to eat on our way through travelling home. We were greeted by the bar staff & ordered drinks. We took a seat & viewed the food menu. We both decided on the healthy option noodles with chicken which showed 600 calorie meal. We also ordered garlic ciabatta. The food arrived & very disappointed with what we saw. 2 bowls of greasy noodles sitting in an oily liquid! The ciabatta was cold & soggy. Such a shame as expected a great pub meal Needless to say we both left most of meal & left still hungry What a waste of money. We were asked if meal was okay to which we politely informed the waitress that it wasn’t great. Think the kitchen needs to up its game on food preparation.
