We used to enjoy the food here. But we found the won ton noodle soup to not have the same delicious taste as it used to and same for the won tons (the texture of these were different too). We didn't even finish it and that was with two of us sharing it because it was that disappointing. The milk tea was completely lacking in flavour and milkiness and was very pricey for the tiny amount they gave you. The minimal seating area is very awkward and uncomfortable.

Mediocre food, bland, tasteless. Better options in London. Response: I ordered jianbing and soup. * jianbing was bland and the crisps were soggy. I saw the chef making the jianbing after my order, the Sriracha sauce bottle was almost empty, they didn't even bother refilling it, instead kept making jianbings with very little or no Sriracha sauce in them. * Wonton soup: the soup lacked flavours and was lackluster.

Excellent food. Tastes very homey and hearty. The store does feel a bit claustrophobic where you eat other than that the food was great. Recommend if you want to have the food as a takeaway.

In the heart of Kew Gardens, this place offers freshly made Chinese dishes with the option to take away, or enjoy at the small seating bar inside the shop. They have an open kitchen which was nice. I ordered their egg pancake with chicken sausage. It’s just as expected with a good portion for the price. I do wish they had more variety of toppings to offer. Definitely would need to come back for their wonton noodle soups and bao’s again one day.

**The worker practically attacked me and snatched money out my hand whilst I was outside and told me to leave and that she wouldn’t serve me.** The service and attitude here was absolutely appalling. I tried to order 5 of their signature pork bao, which came to a total of £11.80. I gave the lady a £20 note and she gave me only £8 change. My mum then said she didn’t give the correct change and the lady started arguing saying she gave us more than she was supposed to - which she did not as she was short 20p. 20p isn’t the problem, the problem is her attitude. She then shoved £1 into my hand and told me to just take it. I told her it was fine, but she insisted, so I went outside to wait for my food. She then suddenly came out and snatched the £9 out of my hand and shoved a £20 into my hand and told me she wasn’t gonna serve me. I don’t know why she thought that was professional or polite to do. I don’t recommend purchasing from here, not only is it overpriced, the service is crap too.

food tasted decent but portions are super small for the price. more importantly i was disgusted when the cashier used her nails to open the bao to check that she gave me one with the correct filling after initially giving me the wrong one (prawns instead of pork). i was stunned as to how to react because at the same time she phrased it as if she was doing me a favour by opening the buns with her bare hands to check while the whole time using the same hands to run the cash register. i was disgusted and lost my appetite, the way they dealt with everything was so awkward i didnt want to kick up another fuss and just left. also, would have been terrible if i had been allergic to seafood given the only way i found out it was wrong was only after biting into it.

As an ethnic chinese, the food was ok. Dumplings were a let down. The fillings were not properly wrapped in the skin. Pan frying of the dumplings resulted in a base that was over fried and top that wasn’t as well cooked. I had the opportunity to observe the way they cooked the dumplings. Basically, they stick it on the pan and let it sit. I was disappointed to see that considering all the staff were ethnic Chinese. All things considered, this is probably as gd as Chinese food gets in London

Tried Jin Bao after saw numerous good comments and relatively high rating. I ordered the Chinese pan cakes with eggs, and the large prawn wonton soup with noodle. The service was warm and quick. There were seats available at the tiny bar. The food was a tad blank to my taste. The Chinese pan cakes tasted ok but nothing more. And for a prawn wonton soup for £11.5, I would want to see and taste the sweetness of prawn in my dumplings which was not the case here.

This is very good quality food which was fresh and tasty. Bao and wonton, as well as pancakes, delivered to a high standard. I had the signature pork bao and then prawn wonton soup with 4 wonton. As many reviews note, there's a 3 seat counter only and most people were getting take out. Below there are many comments regarding cost and portion size and maybe that could be a factor for some people. The food is deceptively filling I'd say. It maybe a tad cheaper one could argue but not by too much. I'd certainly come back to try the pancake and definitely more so in winter.

Let’s talk about the overall feeling: Although the store’s buns are purely handmade, thank you for your hard work! But a steamed bun is only slightly larger than a Hangzhou steamed bun and costs £3-£5. Is this a money grab? Then let’s talk about the taste. The taste is no different from the ones sold in Chinatown, and it’s not worth the price at all! This bun shop in Kew Gardens is as safe as it can get! Here’s some comments or this place: I was appreciated for the the Baozi that you all homemade, however; a single baozi just slightly bigger than Hangzhou Xiaolong Bao, and you sold each one started from £3 to £5, were you really lack of money??? Again, the taste you made was no difference compared the baozi that we bought from Chinatown, the Baozi in Chinatown was bigger and valued for the money. This one, completely wasn't worth of the money you charged, and the taste of quality even wasn't worth for the price!!! Overall, personally, I won’t highly recommend this restaurant in Kew Gardens!!!

The second jewel on the otherwise dull wrong side of the tracks at the Kew Gardens station, next to Cafe Yukari. We stumbled upon the place accidentally, owing to an inexorable sudden rail/tube suspension. The small venue lies a few metres west of the station. Just tried the buns, and they were fantastic, mouth-watering, unforgettable: we've just come home, had our dinner proper, but are still thinking about those buns and crave for more! The place looks extremely down-to-earth-authentic, a pleasant change after a parade of high-maintenance specimens of car manufacturing parked by the houses on the other, Kew side of the tracks. The food was prepared and served by two adorable ladies; the sign says, they've been there since 1858, but I would not grant them a third of this age. One more reason to come back to Kew Gardens, we're going to try the celebrated Wonton soup next time we're there.

I love Won tan soup here and go every week! Sometimes, the service is very slow not due to queue, but just because they cannot do double tasks and they only start to put dumplings after finishing the task when they are doing now. If I were them, I stop my task now, put the dumpling into the water, and return to what you are doing. So just boiling dumpling take 5 min but I sometimes have to wait 15 min... The owner is nice but sometimes some people working there are not up to service. (They want to tidy up early in the evenings ) But I still like here anyway. hope they do not up the price again.

We were also asked to wait 10 minutes for a pork bao because they were cooking, which was totally fine, except after 10 minutes later they told us the pork baos were sold out. So, they either miscounted how many bao were being cooked or they gave our order to someone else. After 15 minutes we decided to just cancel our entire order. Really really disappointing experience.

We were disappointed with the Bao here. The dough and ground meat lacked seasoning and taste. We had to use a lot of sauce to make it enjoyable. The grilled dumplings were okay. They sell nearly-identical Chinese bao dumplings you could find in China and authentic jianbing (Chinese savory pancake). It tastes just like what you get in Beijing. In fact, it’s the only place in West London where you can actually get Jianbing at all. I was surprised to find out because they don’t advertise this item on Google (this was written 4 months ago, now they do)
