Jerk Box in Luton

Ordered on uber eats, portions were unbelievably small. £7.50 for fried chicken with rice, they give two tiny fried wings and dry Jamaican rice. We also ordered loaded chips, that came with 4 tiny strips of chicken and maybe 10 chips. It's literally almost a scam, how can you charge so much for such a tiny quantity of food?

If you want this type of food you could make it yourself for a lot cheaper or go to a better restaurant. Unfortunately it's not worth the price

Food ordered via Deliveroo Very tasty Very well seasoned, really yummy!!!! Happy to know I dont have to wait to go London to buy Jamaican food Please check portion sizes though. Large should mean the meat (oxtail) as well as the rice and peas. The first large Oxtail and rice and peas that I ordered had plentiful amounts, however the second time ordered, the meat portion size was definitely not that of a large portion size. Please note the oxtail and rice and peas is highly recommended Looking forward to new dishes like cowfoot :)

Absolutely amazing food . We ordered a lot of different dishes and that where all very well made and served at good temperatures. The customer service was also fantastic. Not a bad word to say about this place !

I try give this place a chance every time. But yesterday was the final straw. I ordered jerk box meal. The pasta which it came with was off. The stench from the pasta made me throw away my meal. I also got the curry mutton, the curry was really dry and the rice peas was mushy but hard.

absolutely disgusting. food took well over a hour, I called to see where it was and was spoken too with bare attitude from the staff. Once the food arrived my mum checked it to see if it was cold. It was cold and the delivery driver gave my mum attitude and was very demeaning towards her. I got the chicken mac and cheese with waffles. the chicken was tiny and raw (I sent photos of the chicken to just eat and got a refund for the uncooked chicken) the waffles were cold and wet. mac and cheese was cold. then I ordered festivals and they sent cold and hard dumplings. finally a lamb patty which once again was cold. luckily just eat gave me a refund on these problems. Will never eat here again and definitely do not recommend to anyone.

Terrible rice wasn’t cooked properly young girl at counter wasn’t very nice like she didn’t want to be there!! Definitely better carribean takeaways out there

Ordered from here randomly one day last week. I hadn't seen or heard much about it. Was really nice. Worth the price as the portion was huge!

When I first ordered from here the food was very tasty, hot and great portion size. I am not sure if it was an off day, but today I ordered and there was no taste, the food was cold and the portion size was so small. I’m not really happy.

Way over priced I order 2 jerk chicken and rice. There was minimal chicken and most was bone . Flavours where basic also .

Staff were friendly and polite, food was ok nothing to shout about. The portion sizes were awful especially for the price, if I order a large I expect more than 5 small pieces of mutton. Maybe it was a bad day…..

Rice and peas was cooked perfectly and the mutton was to die for, My entire work place will not stop ordering from here. The mac and cheese is creamy and has a lovely garlic taste to it. I never really leave reviews but the food here is consistently top tier. Since first being a regular here to now I’ve only been craving more and with the great and friendly energy the staff gives I feel so much more comfortable then I may do in other Jamaican food places I have been to. 10/10 would recommend and anything less would be a lie! I believe this is a family run business which is so wonderful to see and with the service and quality always going above my expectations this place needs more flowers for what they give. Based on everyone I have ever spoken to about this place I think it’s safe to say you will NOT be disappointed !

First time ordering at this place maybe was just an off day. Food was terrible. I'd have to say probably one of the worst West Indian food restaurants I've ever been to. The Curry Goat was so spicy soon as I took a bite all could taste was scotch bonet literally no other flavor. Kids had Macaroni Cheese and Fried Chicken. Both were dry, hard and absolutely tasteless. The Fried Plantain was dry and not even sweet. Spent about over £30 wasted trip wasted money. Really unhappy. Not going back

First time ordering unfortunately the curry goat was very dry and the rice was a bit crunchy and not soft. Very dissatisfied. I have ordered from moziah's another carribean restaurant food is absolutely lovely thought I'd give Jerk Box a try.

One of the best oxtails and mac and cheese I’ve had. Such a great meal. That we drove back to get extra for other people to try. Only thing is portion sizes for the regular could be larger. But nonetheless great meal and fair prices.

I had my usual Ackee & Saltfish and once again ‘on point’. I branched out and then had fried fish and curried chicken. Like a fool, I used to go to KFC, but can assure you that I know where I’ll be spending my hard earned £s. Decent sized portions and with friendly and chatty staff. See you guys next week, bless 👊🏿

I had to travel all the way from London to try this place, and let me tell you, it was worth every mile! The food is delicious, the hygiene is top-notch, and the service is outstanding. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an amazing dining experience.

Came here a couple days ago and ordered a Jerk Box Combo, a St. Ann’s Combo and two patties, and this all came to £38 in total. The patties were nice, and the meats were cooked well, especially the oxtail. However, for £17 each, the combos were overall quite disappointing. You guys claim to only serve fresh, non-microwaved food (according to your instagram page) but we saw the food being microwaved and this was reflected in the taste, as microwaved food can only be so good. To add to this, the majority of the food on the plate was cold, the rice and peas was really dry and the fried dumplings were rock hard and didn’t taste freshly fried at all. It’s a shame really, as theres no where else nearby to get Caribbean food. In terms of the service, when we walked in, we weren’t greeted, or even looked at. I was also made to feel like I was being a bit difficult by ordering the St Ann’s combo, even though it was on the menu. However, it was a really hot day and the weather may have just made everyone hot and bothered. Hopefully you guys will take on the feedback that other people have left also because this place has a lot of potential.

26/08/2023 We spent £28.50 on regular & large curry mutton. And also children fried chicken & plain rice. I was not impressed by the precooked meal on display. I sample the curry mutton on which it was chewy. Fortunately the meal wasn’t for me. No chef or cook on site. So I believe the food was cook the night before. So stale food comes to mind. Maybe I got high standards.

I'm not a local im from Manchester .I'm working away from home and I thought I'd try some home cooked food .this place did not disappoint 🙌 food was amazing I had the JCRP .and a 10/10 in my opinion

Great food and great service! While it is a compact menu you are still still spoilt for choice for flavoursome hearty meals. The regular serving is more than enough for one person, but due to being a glutton i'll certainly opt for a large one next time Get your meal in early before the demand wipes out your potential flavour craving

Food was very good, place looks good

Extremely disappointing. Oxtail was chewy and tough and needed to cook for longer. Lacked seasoning and flavour. Chicken nibbles were dry as if they were sitting there all day. Won’t recommend and won’t be back. Edit: As you can see from the response from the restaurant they do not take accountability. Oxtail comes from one the same part of the animal. If some pieces are big and some are small it may cause uneven cooking hence why you should get the pieces cut as equally as you can. Even the smallest pieces of the oxtail were tough and chewy. Regardless of what you want to say you missed the mark that day. Accept it and grow from it instead of trying to make excuses.

Terrible cancelled my order after it being ordered over 20 mins and then didn’t pick up the phone.

Best Jamaican food around,friendly staff and massive size portions for not much money

I visited Jerk Box after being recommended by the garage servicing my car and wow what a sweet sweet delight the experience was. Welcomed by a warming smile and polite service, I opted for the the steamed stew fish and rice. Hands down one of the nicest tasting meals I’ve had whilst on the road in a long while especially from a Caribbean food shop. Salute to the chef and the service team, I will certainly be back if in the area. Highly recommended *****

Decently cooked Jamaican food..

Today was my first time at this place,It's the best jerk chicken in the whole of Luton, The chicken was well marinated to the " BONE" very very tasty food.

Good food reasonable prices decent portions. Friendly pleasant atmosphere. Personally I would recommend.

I have been into this shop a couple times. Staff are lovely and friendly. Coming from a jamaican background I can honestly say I enjoyed the food. I ordered the oxtail and I didn't want it to end. I'm so glad you are now on 'just eat' well done Jerk box.... nuff love xxxx

Honestly, the food slaps! defo recommend the Curry Mutton and White Rice, you can't go wrong with some party food! The Hard Food and Greens is nice. The Jerk Chicken, not spicy enough for me personally, it could do more flavour...overall a friendly service and the owner is lovely. Great to see more women in business.

Had the mutton curry delicious and a good size portion. Would add a photo but scoffed it too quick! I'd recommend and will be back

Bought food here today and the worst Jamaican food I’ve EVER had!! I’m born bred Jamaican, PLEASE DO NOT SELL/INTRODUCE THIS KIND OF DISTASTEFUL FOOD INSULT MY COUNTRY’s FOOD!! I could’ve done a much better job at cooking this food. The rice and peas was only rice NO PEAS!! Seems like you’ve used the peas from the can! JUST AWFUL! The festival was for my daughter who has a disability and requested this to eat, but had to go in bin as it was hard as rock!! This is unacceptable and unfair! You’ve had my money knowing the festivals should’ve gone into the bin! I’ve literally come off my route to come to this shop as I live in Hertfordshire! I was in Luton town thought I’d drive by for this food but was a mistake and was awfully disappointed. Stop insulting my country’s food, UNFAIR!

By far the best curried mutton takeaway I’ve had in Luton! So much flavour and spice! Very clean place, delicious food, friendly and polite staff.

It is a Caribbean takeaway in the heart of Sundon Park the staff are polite and welcoming and more importantly the food is well seasoned and flavoursome. I make it my business to always make it a place I secure something to eat when I'm on the move. Keep up the good work girls it's always a pleasure never a chore. It is good value for money they are not open on Sunday. I recommend you try them out for yourself you won't be disappointed 😉.

LOVE LOVE LOVE. had a jerk box special this afternoon and still feel full hours later. comes with a bit of everything. flavours are immaculate every day im always greeted by very friendly staff who recommended me the jerk box special. she even gave me a piece of fried chicken as i hadn’t tried it from there before. loved everything. they have a jerk waffle burger which is jerk chicken with a sweet fluffy waffle as a burger. has an american twist. recommend to anyone and everyone. thank you jerk box

I was eager to try this establishment when I first seen the sign outside..but was quite disappointed when I eventually got round to it....there was a Long wait when ordering at the shop, almost seemed unorganised...they didnt have half the things on the menu.. the meal was ok, chicken, rice and peas cooked perfect.. but no selection of drinks and the patties are 2 pound but only £1.20 next door in riley's.. overall a 2 star rating..I will sample the place again but if it works out the same..will probably never eat there again..

Very pleased with the jerk box I ordered. A little of everything. The planten was cooked perfectly, juicy and seared nicely. The curry was perfectly spiced and had a nice heat to it that made me warm and fuzzy inside. Proper home cooked. The jerk chicken was cooked in a jerker and had that nice barbecue charred taste topped off with the marinade that brought sweetness and savoury together. The coleslaw was pink which at first I thought it was some kind of desert but when I realised went perfectly with everything all around. I never had Mac and cheese before, it was delicious. Service was fast just after work around 5pm. The place has a nice open kitchen vibe and it was spotless when I greedily peered in. Overall highly recommend and will be back for more! You know a meal is really good when you feel sleepy after.

Very authentic! The Mac and cheese was delicious. Fried chicken was to die for with some dipping sauce and the jerk chicken was well seasoned. The staff was so friendly, I felt very welcomed! Will definitely go back.

The quality of the food is authentic. However being a new restaurant its apparent that they haven't yet figured out how to operate smoothly. I'm glad to see a Caribbean restaurant in LU3 area. Instead of criticising i hope my comments help towards a solution with your teething problems. Because we really do need this cuisine in the area. I truly believe if you get on top of everything you can be a very successful takeout in luton. So tips. 1. Customer service. Who ever is serving needs to be more welcoming and smile. 2. One person on the till who just serves and does nothing else. Welcomes new people, manages their expectations with waiting times and serves. (It felt like you didn't know if you were coming or going with the till person. Should i approach/ should i not). 3. One person out the food counter who prepares the food. 4. 4 P's!! Preparations Prevents Poor Performance. Make sure the food is ready to be served and Anywho thats it for now.

Just bought a good variation of food from the Jerk Box.. Yes it took a little time to get your food as they were busy, but good things come to those that wait, and it was so worth the wait.. I and many family and friends will be eating from the Jerk Box for true

Jerk Box isn’t kfc or macdonalds so yes there will be a bit of a wait. The jerk chicken was delicious cannot wait to go back and try other bits from the menu!

Lovely food and very friendly helpful staff we went there on Friday evening it was extremely busy and items had sold out however they managed to rustle up enough food for 4 people and it was delicious we will definitely be going back

Need some serious work ! Not a contender as hoped! The other West Indian Restaurant. I ordered large sizes and lots of rice and could not of been more than a thigh and no jerk sauce even added the other dishes Curried chicken and a waffle meal where also very disappointing. Management rethink your pricing and make sure quality is a top priority and not just getting food to a customer.
